Cute little room in the Hobart city centre, right at the waterfront. The best location to explore Hobart. Room has a foldout double bed with firm and comfy orthopaedic mattress, also a kettle with tea selection and capsule coffee machine. Outside the room is a private toilet. However, please note that shower and kitchen facilities are NOT available.
Please note that shower facilities are NOT available. As a suggestion there is a aquatic centre 600m away where you could have a swim and shower, the entrance fee is around $7.00, or there are beautiful Savoy Baths located 500m away, with saunas, spa etc. the cost is $35.
Absolute city centre and waterfront with the best restaurants, cafes etc. at your doorstep. Salamanca is reached by foot in about 15min , it is 1km away.

Perfect CBD Location! Spacious Furnished & Equipped Apt. Comfortably sleeps 2 people in Q/Bed. Overlooks Water, Park & Mountain Views. Oppo Salamanca Market, 2 mins walk to MONA Ferry and Fantastic Selection of Waterfront Seafood Restaurants & Bars.
1 Sandy Bay Road, Hobart. You couldn't ask for a better location. This is a spacious furnished and equipped apartment with copious amounts of natural light, comfortably sleeps 2 people in a Queen Bed. (Message me if you want an earlier check-in or a later check-out, I'll try my best to accommodate). So, if you (and your partner) want the convenience of a central location, where fantastic waterfront restaurants serving local fish and produce are within 2 minutes walk, you've found your second home. Hobart is a small city, so why not enjoy the culture and festivities that it has to offer, including the 2 minute walk to the MONA ferry and Port Arthur ferry and Bruny Island ferry. Or you could walk across the park to Salamanca market, historic Battery Point around the corner (5 mins) or a lovely stroll down to Sandy Bay village (10 mins), or if you keep on going, head down to Lower Sandy Bay and enjoy the beach and playground (25 mins). Or you could walk up to North Hobart (20 mins) to enjoy the mix of ethnic cultures and food, including Indian, Japanese, Thai and of course, Italian! And if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, rent a car from one of the 4 different car rental agencies which are 2 minutes walk from the apartment and take a drive down to the Huon Valley, or up to Mt. Field National Park or even over to the East Coast. A day trip to one of these destinations will surely make you look forward to coming home to your relaxing and spacious abode.
This central location is fantastic. It is close to the CBD and parks, historic sites and the market life of Salamanca. And if you really enjoy fish or seafood, head down to the various seafood eateries along the waterside. You also have the convenience of renting a car from one of the 4 car rental agents in the next few streets, to be able to explore the local sites scattered around Hobart and beyond. By the way, there is no parking for cars in the building, but there is plenty of street parking alternatives.

Hobart, TAS, Australia

As a scientist, writer, artist, and poet, my home is decorated with an eclectic mix of jellyfish art, Tasmanian natural history, and travel memorabilia. I’ve been told many times that my home feels comfortable and inviting. It’s a splendid location for accessing Salamanca cafes and shops, waterfront festivals and events like MOFO and Taste, and the science precinct with CSIRO and the Institute for Marine & Antarctic Studies. A range of breakfast options: on the go, self serve, or indulgent.
Your bedroom is light and sunny, with a fresh and classy feel decorated in white and gold. Your bedroom and the shared bathroom are on the upper floor (Street level). Downstairs is the kitchen, living room, laundry room, courtyard, etc. Both floors have their own doorways to the building, with lift access; your room is 1 metre away from the upper level entry, which acts as a semi-private entrance. I’ve recently renovated my private courtyard into a very magical space, with a very bespoke raised garden of edibles; a bamboo BBQ area; comfy chairs around the fire pit; plenty of bench space for reading, napping, or wondering; a splendid mermaid watching over a fish pond with lilies and carnivorous plants; and whimsical pops of purple flowers. Off-street parking is available with a gate-code: don’t hesitate to ask!
My home is two minutes’ walk from the village in Battery Point, or five minutes’ walk to Salamanca shops and cafes. It’s a lovely neighborhood to take a stroll through and look at the homes from different eras. We often get gorgeous sunsets and sunrises over the Derwent, and dusk is a particularly relaxing time to sit in White’s Park and watch the sail boats, recreational fishermen, and seabirds.

The Alabama was first established as a hotel in 1867. The building has undergone a few changes since then but was re-established as a boutique style art hotel in 2013.The hotel is owned and operated by Tassie locals with emphasis on creating an enjoyable, affordable and artistic space suitable for world travellers and inter state visitors alike. The Alabama offers something much more interesting than your standard hotel or motel because it is unique, sincere,a little quirky and a whole lot special.
THE ROOM The Alabama Standard Queen rooms are cosy, stylish and compact , perfect for singles and couples. They feature a Queen sized bed, heater, hanging space for your clothes, a refrigerator and a small fan. Linens, towels and handmade soaps are included in all rooms. Please note that all rooms at the Alabama have shared bathroom facilities. Maximum occupancy is two people. IMPORTANT INFORMATION CHECK IN: Is after 2 pm at reception. Our reception closes at 9 pm so please advise if you will be later than this. SHARED BATHROOMS: The bathrooms are down the hall from the rooms and shared with other guests. It is important to note there are no rooms with private bathrooms. If this is not your style, we understand, but please be aware of this before staying and/or reviewing. We have always found our guests to be very respectful of one another and the shared space. NO PARKING: Our inner city location means we have no on-site parking. Nearby parking information and rates can be found on the getting here page of our website. STAIRS: Unfortunately our building does not have an elevator and there are stairs to walk up. WIFI: We have good quality free wifi with a large individual data limit per device, there are no televisions. NO FREE COFFEE/TEA: Tassie teas and locally roasted barista coffee is available to purchase from the guest lounge but we do not have those items, or kettles in the rooms. NO KITCHEN: There are no cooking facilities at the hotel. Hobart is heaven for good food and produce, and our staff know all the top spots so we can point you in the right direction for the best start to your day. THE BAR/LOUNGE/DECK The Alabama’s small bar, lounge area and gorgeous plant filled balcony is available for the general public and guest use between 8am-9pm daily (times may sometimes vary depending on seasons). We have excellent coffee and teas available for purchase, as well as a wide selection of local and imported beer, wines and spirits. The bar is perfect for a drink before heading out for a meal at one of the many excellent Hobart eateries nearby. Ask our friendly staff for advice!
Hobart is a small, beautiful city teeming with artists, musicians, creative types and other interesting people. Perched on the edge of the Derwent River, Hobart is hot property, and there has never been a better time to visit. HERE ARE A FEW REASONS WHY: THE MARKETS: we know you’ve likely got Salamanca on your radar for a Saturday morning, but don’t miss Farm Gate Market on a Sunday morning, and the monthly art and craft markets on around the traps. THE GALLERIES: MONA’s a given, but there’s so much more to explore. Check the state collections at TMAG, Salamanca Arts Centre when you’re done with the markets, and many more little galleries dotted around the city. THE MOUNTAIN: Hobart lives in the shadow of Mt Wellington and that’s just how we like it. Getting up there is easy if you have a hire car, a little trickier without one (it’s a national park, so no public transport goes through it). Ask us for tips on getting up there, and take your coat with you—it’s regularly cold and/or windy up there. FOOD AND BOOZE: Hobart and it's surrounds are utter foodie paradise. Tassie fresh produce is unbeatable (in our humble opinions) and so are the Alabama staff’s fresh opinions. Chat to us about our newest finds and current favourites. We endeavour to keep plenty of Tasmanian drinks in stock at the Alabama bar for you to sample—have you tried a Tassie beer? Wine? Cider? Whisky? Gin? Vodka? They all exist and they’re all delicious. THE FESTIVALS: something to celebrate for every season! Summer festivals are the most popular (no surprises there) but there’s something happening at all times of the year, whether it be for food, or music, or drinks, or wooden boats… the list goes on. THE DAY TRIPS: we don’t recommend a hire car while you’re staying in Hobart (no onsite parking!) but if you do have one, we’ve got suggestions for you. Try the Huon valley, the Tasman peninsula, Bruny island, Mt Field, or the Coal River valley… just for a start. (Freycinet and Cradle mountain are also amazing but need more than a day trip or you’ll be pooped!) THE NEIGHBOURS: CBD life is ballin’ but make sure you check out the other suburbs that make up inner Hobart: North Hobart, Salamanca, Battery Point and Sandy Bay are all worth touring through for eating, drinking, sight-seeing and fun times. THE WATER: mountains to the left of you, water to the right, here you are—stuck in the middle at the Alabama. Nothing like sitting waterside with some fish and chips on a beautiful sunny day, or you could get out onto the water via kayak, adventure boat or tall ship. THE ALABAMA: toot toot! What’s that sound? Our own horn? Here at the Alabama we love our guests, we love Hobart and we love Tasmania. Come share the love.

Situated in Hobart's premier and most historic suburb, Battery Point, the neighbourhood is filled with wonderful examples of 1800s cottages. It is well worth just having a wander around the streets for a stickybeak. It is also a stone's throw from Salamanca Place, where the best cafes, restaurants, bars and galleries are located. The closest bars and cafes are only 350m away, an easy stroll along Hampden Road. If you stay here you are in the heart of the heart of Battery Point! Walk to the docks, CBD, Salamanca markets, Princess Park (Kids will love it ) restaurants, coffee shops, wine bars, MONA ferry and adventure tour bases. Its a fantastic location! Relaxing and private outlook. We live in the main house as we have taken over what was a Bed and Breakfast, the apartment remains as accommodation. We are very conscious of your privacy but not too far away if you need anything!
The studio is warm and cozy, whilst not hugely spacious it is comfortable and feels like a small apartment not a hotel room. The garden outlook is relaxing and you can sit in the sun and enjoy an outdoor space.
We are very privileged to live in such a beautiful place, so close to Salamanca and Battery point precinct. This gives you the option of doing without a hire car as you can walk everywhere. Many guests choose to be car less for a few days and then hire one to go further afield. We love the accessibility to all Battery Point has to offer!

Located in the centre of Hobart, this historically significant property has been beautifully renovated back to a 12-bedroom guest accommodation. Situated less than 5 minutes walk from Salamanca's waterfront precinct, Macquarie House provides guests access to shared bathrooms, kitchen & dining facilities, and common lounge room. Rooms include high quality bedding, with towels and linen provided. Free NBN speed Wi-Fi is included, as well as access to coin-operated laundry facility.
Macquarie House is of major heritage significance, and one of the oldest surviving buildings in Tasmania. The property is on the Tasmanian Heritage Register, noted as one of the first two brick buildings ever constructed in Hobart. Birch's House first became known as Macquarie House after Governor Lachlan Macquarie stayed there between April and June 1820. The very name of the building ‘Macquarie House' is a recognition of the fact that Dr. TW Birch was favoured by Macquarie. In 1824, the property was converted to a hotel for the first time, and in 1842 the hotel converted to a boarding house (including the additions of coach house and stables). In 2015, it was renovated back to accommodation, and reinvigorating the name 'Macquarie House' - not the stables, but newly renovated guest rooms!
Macquarie House is conveniently located in the CBD of Hobart, and only 5 minutes walk from Salamanca's popular waterfront precinct. For more information on visiting Hobart, check out (URL HIDDEN)
