Zehra and Souhel’s story

Humanitarian workers Zehra and Souhel set a wedding date and moved into their dream home in Antakya, Türkiye. Then a series of magnitude 7+ earthquakes destroyed their house and plans for the future.

Zehra and Souhel found a temporary place to stay through Airbnb.org. The apartment provided them a sense of relief. “It gave us the room to come back to ourselves and think about what's going to happen next,” Zehra says. The Airbnb.org stay also provided a home base from which they could continue their work with the nonprofit GOAL Global supporting other earthquake survivors.

Benny’s story

People across the country were calling Benny a hero after he saved an 88-year-old woman and her daughter from wildfires on Maui. But his own home couldn’t be rescued from the flames.

Airbnb.org staff helped Benny find a temporary place to stay. He says having housing gave him and neighbors in similar situations the stability they needed to start rebuilding their community. “We can be better prepared to get our community where it needs to be in order to bring our home back.”

Benny is one of many people impacted by the fires who found an emergency stay through Airbnb.org.
