We ask that you respect that these items are provided for your convenience; so please leave them at the Retreat or feel free to add to them for the use and enjoyment of all future guests.
LIVING IN THE RAINFOREST: When you arrive you will find that we have left the cushions to the outdoor settings inside. We don’t like to leave them out as they can get damp depending on the changing weather conditions on the Mountain. Would you kindly bring them in when not being used.
When the weather changes and visible mist starts to settle outside over the rainforest, it is necessary to shut the doors and windows otherwise a heavy wetness will settle into the rugs, cushions, fabrics, bed linen and furnishings, and your clothes and food stocks will become damp. This is also a good time to turn in the dehumidifier.
EXTRA BLANKETS & TOWELS: There are extra blankets for the bed and extra towels if needed. You will find them on the shelves in the master bedroom wardrobe.
GROCERIES & FUEL: Just a reminder that there are no supermarkets or service stations at Springbrook so be sure to bring your own groceries and food and fill up your tank with fuel before venturing up the mountain. There is however a general store on Forestry Road called the Springbrook Cafe & Bar that is open 7 days a week from 9:00AM to 4:00PM and stays open on Fridays until 9:00PM that stocks items such as fresh bread, milk, breakfast cereals, cheeses, meats, crackers, biscuits, sauces, canned foods, sugar, juices, toothbrushes, toothpaste, batteries, beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks. It also has a liquor licence, fully stocked bar and beer on tap. On Fridays, they serve pizza, fish & chips and other fried foods, with the kitchen open between 5:30PM and 8:00PM.
PLACES TO DISCOVER: Here on Springbrook Mountain you will find plenty of good walks, waterfalls and swimming holes at your front door and so many places to discover!

ABOUT SPRINGBROOK: Springbrook is in the Gold Coast hinterland, just 45 minutes from its famous surf and white sand beaches. "The Mountain" as the locals call it, is part of the ancient Gondwana Rainforests of Australia which, due to its recognition as one of the world's most outstanding and valuable places was, in December 1994, officially declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Area. With its origins going back millions of years, it is home to an amazing variety of wildlife from the rare Albert’s Lyrebird, which is only found in Springbrook, to Crimson Rosellas, Satin Bowerbirds, Lorikeets, Whipbirds, Parrots, Robins, Kookaburras, Koalas and Pademelons. Amidst the rainforests, the plant life is similarly spectacular with many rare, endangered and vulnerable species like the Springbrook Wedding Bush (Ricinocarpos Pinifolius), Tree Waratah (Alloxylon Pinnatum) and Clear Milk Vine (Marsdenia Longiloba). Springbrook a forest wildness; part of an ancient volcano formed 23 million years ago, with views that stretch forever. Our Retreat is situated adjacent to the mountain escarpment called "The Canyon". From here, the views are spectacular.
Nestled in the heart of the rainforests, Springbrook is a small, tight-knit, rural community. Between 700 to 1000 meters high at various plateaus, it looks out over a lush green canopy of rainforests to the magnificence of the Gold Coast, it’s golden sand beaches and the blue water horizon of the Pacific Ocean. This is why Springbrook, being the only Rainforest area on the Gold Coast, is called “the Green behind the Gold”.
Springbrook is a calm, quiet, relaxing and peaceful location of exquisite beauty. It is truly a very special place, populated by an eclectic mix of naturalists, botanists, environmentalists, farmers, doctors, lawyers, barristers, academics, musicians, artists, writers, generational families, young families, spiritualists, alternative lifestylers, retirees, bushwalkers and increasingly, by people seeking a slice of serene paradise in an ever-increasing fast, busy, noisy and stressful world.
Set within the World Heritage Listed Springbrook National Park, Springbrook is also home to cool mountain streams, gorges and waterfalls as well as majestic tall trees, palms, ferns and other plants that can only to be found in Australian Rainforests.
Three interesting facts about Springbrook.
Fact 1: It is the most extensive area of subtropical rainforests in the World.
Fact 2: Few places on Earth contain as many plants and animals that still remain relatively unchanged from their fossilised ancestors.
Fact 3: Many of Springbrook’s waterfalls, picnic areas and lookouts bare the original names handed down by the Yugambeh Aboriginal people, the first human inhabitants of the area who thousands of years ago recognised the sacred nature of these ancient lands.
The mountains await you!!
