Buenos Aires for curious people
Discover Buenos Aires from an anthropological point of view. Don't expect to just walk and listen: be prepared to talk, make questions and discuss about the past, present and future of the Argentinean capital.
Beginning in Lezama Park and ending in Casa Rosada, this walk offers you the chance to approach this beautiful city from its historical past in an attempt to understand its current present.
Who were the first inhabitants? Why were the British so interested in this shores? Where is the African-descendant population? Where did all these white people come from? What is the deal with Evita and Perón? Who were the "desaparecidos" during the military dictatorship? And why do we have such a big problem with the US dollar?
These are just some of the many questions we will try to answer in our walk through the most historical part of town.
Authentic tango experience with a dancer
Dancing Tango is an opening of the soul to the person you are dancing with, it’s a magical feeling that, when one feels it, one understands right away that it’s a lifestyle and also why this movement keeps existing through time until today, and that’s why people still live it in different bars and places around the city.
This experience is right for this! It’s not only seeing or knowing Tango… It’s undertanding it, living it, and, specially, feeling it!
And how are we going to achieve all of this?
We will go to a tiny and old mansion in the ‘tanguero’ neighborhood of San Telmo, where we can relax a little bit in an open air terrace, private to our group;
Then, we will take a grupal tango lesson (it’s not required, but recommended), when we will learn basic things about tango, so we will be able to dance with local people;
Now, let’s go to the milonga! The milonga is the place where local people go to dance tango regularly (private transfer is included);
Showtime!! Finally, we wil see a performance of a live orchestra or a couple of professional dancers!
Experience an Argentine Soccer Game
Argentine Football is great for its chaos and unpredictability - with my help you can enjoy the mayhem with none of the hassle.
Fixture lists & schedules are announced late, I follow the local football news closely and can pick the best game available each weekend.
We'll meet at a central location (per team) & travel the easiest, safest route to the game with the fans (BA is huge!). I'll give you context on the team's history and their current situation and which players to watch.
I’ll help you navigate the various Police & Stewarding controls and find the best point of entry as many access points are closed. Inside we'll be close to the action, a perfect view of the game, and just as importantly, the Ultra fan groups.
The Barra Brava are often illicit organised fan groups and a key to the occasion. We will be at a safe distance to see them at work, while not getting too close.
Argentine grounds are quite old and ill-maintained, while this is great aesthetically, it means they don’t have the best health & safety measures and a disappointed crowd can be impatient - again, I’ll be with you to ensure there is no trouble leaving the ground and home again.
Other things to note
You'll be safe but follow the guide's advice.
The match will depend on ticket availability and this can affect prices.
Photo ID may be required in advance
We may not need transport - so less waiting!

Next, we will walk around some local spots in Palermo so you know the roots of the neighborhood and then sample some wines and local tapas in a stunning restaurant.

This is one outstanding location with a history that must be shared to keep the traditions alive.

Mate experience, tasting, ritual and sharing
Mate is much more than an infusion for Argentines. Mate is about sharing and making friends. Mate is ritual, it is intimacy and family.
It has a specific way of preparing it that comes from the natives of these lands and it is done in the form of a ritual.
We invite you to be part of a mate ritual, just like we do every day. We will sit at a round-shaped table to begin the mate ritual. With an introductory talk, we will tell you about the origin of mate, the legends about mate and what it means for Argentines through our personal experiences.
Next, we will provide you with all the necessary elements to prepare a good mate, we will explain how the mate is prepared, all the specific rules that are followed in the mate rituals, as well as the different variations it contains.
Then we will get to work, each one preparing their own mate, under our supervision and accompaniment. Then you will have a mate prepared by yourselves.
We are going to try different types of mate, mate with herbs, sweet mate, cooked mate and even tereré. Always accompanied by the typical Argentine biscuits that we accompany with mate.
*Many times a friend of the house delights us with live piano or guitar music. Anything can happen!!!

BA off the Beaten Track
Live like a local in a non-touristic neighborhood, try my favorite food, meet the owner of an old-fashioned barber shop-cum-bar (a very cool speakeasy that feels like it is from a century ago and it was named as one of the best barbershops in the world), learn about our culture, our architecture and our history, use our public transport, feel our music, see what the locals do and learn about our traditions. We'll immerse ourselves in the Argentinean culture & feel like an authentic porteño.
We'll dive into my barrio. I'll also introduce you to one of my very good friends at a historic market to discover our food and try the best empanadas in town. Here you can watch traditional food being prepared. Also, we'll try a delicious Argentine pastry at my neighbor's bakery (a gorgeous 19th-century tea/coffee house/bakery); enter in the church where the pope was baptized (it is a beauty!); and walk in a legendary tango salon with bizarre variety of artifacts and art, a historic building from the 19th century which was once used as a grain silo (you'll love this cool, funky place).
Join me for a memorable authentic experience!
Other things to note:
We will be walking around 2 offbeat neighborhoods (20 blocks)
I can't run this experience on Sundays or Mondays because some of the places are closed.

We will have a technical and also creative talk according to the questions that arise during the visit. It is designed to get to know my work, the technique, and a position against creativity.
