‘La Giuliana’ is now an institution in Bergamo and it is so because its restaurant is truly unique. Opened by her parents in 1943, the trattoria soon became a meeting place as well as a gastronomic haunt. The restaurant is distinguished by its good food, the always punctual service and Giuliana's ability to welcome every customer with that simplicity and authenticity that immediately makes them feel at home. At Giuliana's there are typical Bergamo dishes but also Italian cuisine. THE MENU: The dinner menu is fixed price and varies according to the number of courses. There is a wide choice of first courses, main courses and side dishes. Inevitable are the typical casoncelli alla bergamasca! The lunch menu is also at a fixed price and you can choose between one or two courses. Finally, the well-stocked dessert menu: homemade and from Bergamo pastry shops. A treat that cannot be missed at the end of a meal? The characteristic pull-me-up!

The most famous trattoria in Bergamo. The owner Giuliana is one the most beloved personality in the city, everybody knows her and appreciates her. Food is local, tasty and plentiful. Città Alta (Upper Town) Bergamo is structured on two levels: Upper Town (Città Alta), surrounded by Venetian walls (UNESCO World Heritage), where the historic heart of the city lies Lower Town (Città Bassa), more modern, where commercial and industrial activities are concentrated This itinerary focuses on the main highlights of the city, excluding museums and attractions that require more time. Start with the must-see: Città Alta. If you stay after dinner, we recommend visiting Borgo Santa Caterina, a charming area popular with university students.

"Bergamo is rightly one of the most popular destinations for a day trip from Milan: easily reachable by train and rich in things to see. From the lower town, take the funicular up to Bergamo Alta, where Piazza Vecchia hosts must-see sights such as the Palazzo della Ragione, Santa Maria Maggiore with the Colleoni Chapel, and the Civic Tower, which still chimes a hundred times each evening to signal the city gates closing.
