The traditional house is a haven for people who enjoys nature and tranquility. With the mountains and the river as the backdrop, this is the perfect place to slow down and relax and is an escapade from urban life. Despite a history of three generations, the amenities are well maintained and the place is clean. A must-go if you are a nature lover and are looking to experience the Japanese countryside life in a more than 80 year old house that u could live in that the Is being exhibited in the Japanese museum. That's awesome. The bonus is the local people are so friendly n chatty. The interesting host couple is wonderful to know with their great personality n hospitality n knowledge of traditional culinary, some trades and farming. The man of the house is great cook and handyman. You could use scheduled local buses to check out nearby local shops, small town centre, art & cultural places. You will miss the quiet, simplicity and hospitality of shop owners n passerby in this awesome area of Tamatori-Okabe. Warning to city people :- no TV or city entertainment but wifi here is good.
I just can’t expect more than what Andrea and Mayumi offered: warm welcome with useful travelling tips and guidance, clean and comfortable place, and fully facilitated kitchen. And they are so kind of offering bicycles, which are very convenience for us to cycling around the area within limited time staying in Kyoto. And the location is perfect, walkable distance to many interests, and the bus stop is just at reachable distance. Thank you again, and see you soon!!!
