**The house consists of 4 pods as is in the Bali tradition and there they are connected by walkways , all off which we have enclosed to protect from the elements. However the halls being not heated / insulated so walking from the bedroom to the kitchen/ dining in November/December, you might feel cold. Our family & many renters are totally ok with this but please consider it for yourself:)** Enveloped by 7.5 acres of woodland, private pond and grassy pasture,it will lull you into its haven. It's the perfect marriage of the organic materials , handmade craftsmanship and the location that set you up in the peaceful state of mind when you spend some time here. After few hours here your body clock settles into a restful pace. I'm still not sure wether it is the memories of vacations in Bali or Thailand that get waken up while I'm here or the serene location or maybe there are some magnetic fields deep under ground, but I tell you, I sleep better here than anywhere else. Comfort, serenity & feelings of well being radiate in this place...Of course the super fast internet, Apple TV, 55" HDTV, luxurious bathtub next to the fireplace, the chefs kitchen : You should find in the kitchen most everything you could possibly need to create memorable meals. There are 2 faucets in the kitchen, the smaller one is filtered drinking water. There is cutlery and all kitchen tools including baking pans, a Kitchen Aid Mixer, blender, toaster, coffee machines . Two of the bedrooms are in a self contained cottage with a full bath . The pond is spring fed ( go for a swim ) , there is place for all your vehicles , your mobile phones will work just fine . Go ahead take a run or use our bikes and ride to town or just explore the farmland around . With imported materials from Indonesia, it was built by hand by the inhabitants of Bali. Please respect our home and our neighbors, The Bali House is a quiet sanctuary, if you are planning to party, carry on loud gatherings or any other excessive noise activities, this is not the house for it. Hiking, fishing, rock climbing, antiquing or getting pampered at Mohonk Mountain House Spa. The house is located in the middle of a completely private lot, you drive down a tree lined road and then turn into a 1000' driveway further lined with mature trees & lawns. The property is a home to abundance of bird species and you'll hear them singing as you drive in.
  • This was such an incredible home and space!! Went up with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday and could not have been happier with the Bali house. Kay greeted us on arrival and was so warm. Felt like being welcomed by family. We will absolutely be back and I recommend this house to anyone who needs a little nature and calm retreat. Great place to escape.

  • We had a wonderful time at the Bali House! The house is beautiful, very clean, and very nicely decorated. It has a great, comfortable feel to it. It is definitely a unique place in a great area. We were 4 adults and 3 teenage boys, and there was plenty of space. The two large bedrooms in the main complex (main house and guest house) were perfect for us couples, and the boys stayed in the adjacent cottage, which also has a full bath. The main house has a very nice porch overlooking the lake where it is great just to hang out in the afternoon sun. We had all the amenities we could ask for, towels, linens, even coffee. Piotr was very responsive and kept checking if everything was alright. Overall, it was a memorable stay, and we would definitely recommend the Bali house to others!

  • Lovely house and property. We enjoyed our stay very much.

  • Our stay at Piotr and Kay's beauitful home was wonderful. Our group was five thirty year old college friends that always try to get together every year for a reunion. First off, Piotr was EXTREMELY responsive in answering questions, providing suggestions and even connecting us with his neighbors to get fresh eggs for breakfast. The house is perfect for three couples but can definitely fit more. To call it tranquil is a total understatement.....the pond is beautiful, clean, and you really feel that you are in a different world. Our favorite part was the kitchen. One of our friends is a chef and we loved having huge family dinners at the table in the middle of the kitchen. New Paltz and Rosendale are close by if you need supplies but we really never wanted to leave the deck and kitchen. We would 100% recommend this to anybody wanting a quiet weekend away from the city.

  • From start to finish everything was perfect. Kay and Piotr are so helpful and accommodating. Seamless check in. The house is stunning and great for families or groups of friends. Great kitchen and grill for cooking family dinners. Will definitely stay here again.

  • Amazing home and property. Beware that the house is connected by a long, (stylish) all-glass hallway that is *not* temperature controlled like the main rooms off the hall (which have A/C for summer and beautiful heated Tuscan-style tiles for winter). So in especially cold or hot seasons, walking between rooms is like being outside -- but actually pretty cool! Really adds to feeling like you're seamlessly a part of the landscape really. Piotr and Kay were very thoughtful and immediately responsive throughout our stay. They also made an effort to have the hot tub installed and ready in time for our arrival--which was an awesome addition to the already pretty awesome outdoor porch area. Would definitely come again!

  • We did a mini-moon at the Bali House, traveling directly there from our wedding the day before. Piotr and Kay were great and super accommodating, going above and beyond in making us feel welcome and showing us the ropes of the place. It's clear in talking to them that the house is special to them, and that also shows in the guest experience at the Bali House -- it's clean, relaxing, and quirky (in a good way!!)... The structure itself is amazing, but Piotr and Kay have made it their own and all the details -- big and small -- are fantastic and obviously thought-through while remaining casual and comfortable. We had originally planned, months earlier, to take a big, exotic trip overseas for our honeymoon, but circumstances conspired against that and we are totally glad that that's how things worked out -- we would not have rather been anywhere else on earth in the days following our wedding. The Bali House is an absolute A+ and we highly recommend it!

"Beautiful volumes, perfectly furnished, all very pretty and practical: If I had a piece of land, I could see myself wanting to build a cabin just like this--or rather, ask David to build it!" (excerpt of a guest's review)
Escape from New York to this ultra-modern--yet cozy--two-bedroom eco cottage in the heart of the Hudson Valley in the Village of Rosendale, NY. A car isn't even necessary. From NYC the express bus is 2 stops--1hr. 45 min. from Port Authority. The bus stop is a short walk or arrange a pick-up in advance. I'm a green builder and furniture designer and I created this state-of-the-art cottage for guests. It's outfitted with unique materials, custom-designed furniture and lighting. The spectacular location is an outdoor enthusiast's dream with all indoor comforts--coupled with a short walk to civilization. On the property there are rock cliffs and amazing nature to admire. It's a 5-minute walk to the Mohonk Preserve--a place that The Nature Conservancy calls "one of the last great places on earth." Included in your stay are 2 free day passes to the Mohonk Preserve. This cottage was hand-made to the highest "green" standards and my hope is to inspire you to live comfortably while conserving energy. Accommodations include two bedrooms with plush, queen-sized beds. The modern kitchen includes an induction cooktop and Advantium oven. The spa-like bathroom has a deep-soak tub. Access to the cottage is with a key-code lock and there's wireless internet, Apple TV, and good cell reception. It's a 100-yard walk to the just-renovated, 1000' long, 150' high "Walkway over the Rondout." This historic former train trestle is part of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail (WVRT) which accesses over 85 continuous miles of hiking, trail running, cycling, and cross-country skiing. Below this trestle is the nearest swimming hole. Enjoy a lovely and scenic riverside stroll to bars, restaurants, and historic movie theater on Main Street--a 5-minute walk from your door. Come experience what it's like to have no indoor air pollution. The cottage was hand-made and finished with virtually zero VOC's (volatile organic compounds). An allergy sufferer's dream: there's no smoke, down feathers, or pet dander of any kind. Fresh, filtered air is exchanged constantly via a heat recovery ventilator (HRV). Rosendale is centrally located to visit international art venues in Storm King and Beacon, The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and other Hudson Valley farm-to-table meccas, and we're sandwiched between historic Kingston and New Paltz. Rock climbing, ice climbing, and mtn bike guiding services are available. Massage can be scheduled in-house--or arrange a super-special day-spa visit at the Mohonk Mountain House. Local occupancy tax is included.
  • The place was as described and even better! Very well equipped, super-clean, peaceful and well designed. David was most helpful and knowledgeable about the area and he had prepared a great guide of places to eat, drink and visit that really made our stay amazing. Would go there again in a heartbeat!

  • Quiet and private.

    Robert2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! What to say. I am planning our next trip up during the summer. 4 days was NOT ENOUGH to venture out and explore all that Rosendale, New Paltz and all of basically everywhere else has to offer. There is so much to do if your the outdoorsy type and photographer fanatic like ourselves. Just walk out of the property and you will find the amazing rail trail that David helped build last year. Visit the main street of Rosendale - Last standing single movie screen theater! New Paltz also has a main street - fun shops and highly recommend Karma Road restaurant (we were so happy to find an organic and amazing place to get fresh juice/ food). Ask David about Widow Jane if your up for an adventure to see the mines (there are tons - just need to be willing to TREK to them.) OH and LAKE MINNEWASKA. GO. If its cold when you go, I highly recommend warm gloves, thick socks or two and an great pair of hiking boots. But the frozen, numb feeling in your toes and fingers is worth it! I promise. As far as the cottage- it is exactly what the photos portray. Such a beautifully designed, cozy YET very spacious cottage. SO CLEAN. Fit my green standards to a T with a modern twist, it really felt like home. The Kitchen was so comfortable to cook in, especially when you have that view ! David really thought of everything you need if you like to cook! The appliances were easy and quick to learn, even inspired us to officially now invest in ours back at home. The living room had enough space to fit both of our yoga mats without having to move a thing. Having that option of using the sound system and lighting took it to a whole new level for us. David was such an awesome host, has such good energy, unlike most Airbnb hosts (secretly wish they were all like him) - responsive and there if needed at a moments notice. (Saved the day when our camera filled up. Thanks for the card reader!) Highly accommodating, even let us stay at the flat for a night when I selfishly wanted to stay another night and the cottage was booked up. If you are in need for a place to relax, cook and have a daily adventure in the magical- untouched nature that surrounds you - this is it. You may get lucky like we did and get visited by a deer family in the morning. We all had breakfast together. We will definitely be back when the farmers markets are up and the weather isn't too cold so we can explore the Mohonk Preserve and anywhere else that catches our eye.

  • Despite the awful weather, the home was very warm and welcoming. David is a great host and willing to point out his favorite local destinations. Will be looking to stay there again.

  • My wife and I had a great time. No surprises here, every detail of the space is well thought out and immaculate. David was a great host, super friendly and very helpful. Will definitely be back.

  • David's place is lovely and provided a much needed retreat for my wife, my infant son, and I. It's situated a short walk from a great walking trail and central to a number of charming little Hudson Valley towns with plenty of options for good food and outdoor activities. We recommend it highly and would definitely go back, particularly in the summer months.

    Chris2017-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gorgeous, super comfortable cabin with an incredible view out of big clear windows. Loads of great hiking and walking nearby, and the town is cute with good food. Couldn't really ask for more.

  • The Eco-Cottage is wonderful place to stay in the Hudson valley. The cottage is well-designed and very comfortable. We spent four relaxing days visiting nearby farms, towns, the FDR house in Hyde Park, and Storm King sculpture park on the way back to the city. David is a thoughtful and accommodating host. We hope to be back soon.

This is an "off the grid" cabin, with a double bed and a twin sleeping loft. There is an adjoining shower with a ECO friendly composting toilet, 100 yds to over 10 miles of rail trail, bring your bikes... We are only 2 miles to Rosendale Village. Beware the twin bed is a loft with a child safety railing. It is really designed for a child, it will hold an adult but it is not ez to get into due the safety railing.....
Off the Grid Cottage. Please be aware that although the cottage is heated during the winter, the outdoor toilet and shower is not and thusly not available. There is a bath available in the main house. .
Country setting, in a central location. Three miles to Main st. Rosendale for restaurants, shops, Movie house, etc. and 2 miles to High Falls," the center of the Universe" more restaurants and shops. 8 miles to new paltz, and about the same to kingston. woodstock is 25 mins away.
  • An amazing experience! Staying in the Love Shack gave us an insight on how it's going to be when we buy our tiny home. Being out in the Love Shack will make you feel close to nature. Bob is a super host, he made us feel welcomed the moment we met him. He was easy to get in contact with throughout our stay. His knowledge of the area is bar none, we took his suggestion of going out to eat at the "Eggs Nest" and the food was outstanding! All in all we plan on visiting the Love Shack again during the warm months, so we can do the 12 mile hike that behind the Love Shack. Cannot wait to go back!

  • My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at the Love Shack. Such a wonderful stay, and amazing person. So kind opened his home to us making us feel so welcome, also helped us with directions and good places to check out. The house/outdoor bathroom combination is fun and charming. He served us the most delicious egg sandwiches for breakfast! Highly recommended! We will go back for sure!!! The best Airbnb experience!

    Carmen2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I had a wonderful time at the Love Shack. The listing was exactly as described. It rained the night we stayed over and the sound of the rain made a wonderful and relaxing ambiance. My wife raved about how enjoyable it was to take a hot shower with rain on the tin roof. Bob and Joe were wonderful both before our arrival, giving us plenty of recommendations, and during, orienting us to the house and giving us breakfast. We would definitely stay here again!

    Izzy2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Bob was a great host! He was very helpful and gave us great restaurant suggestions for dinner. In the morning, he made us a delicious vegetarian breakfast. It was really interesting seeing his place and learning about his solar panels and the composting toilet. (Which, if you have never used one before, is pretty neat and not at all gross!) The cabin itself is really cute and cozy. It was the perfect little getaway spot!

    Rachel2014-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • The “Love Shack” was perfect for my girlfriend and I and we were beyond happy here! We BBQ’d and built a fire…kept it stoked throughout the night. Solitude indeed! Felt like camping but with a little love shack instead of a tent. Perfect! The outdoor shower was wonderful as well, rainbows in the mist and everything! The breakfast was so delicious, with eggs lain that day from their chickens. Bob and his wife Jo were so exceptionally warm. Great stories…great people! I really can’t say enough about these two! Some people you are just glad to have met. These two are of that variety! They are also mostly off the grid so that is wonderful as well! And yes, we had electricity all night of course… The Love Shack is in a wonderful location as well, as it is pretty centrally located to all that the area has to offer. If you are looking for a little romantic getaway that is rustic but not too rustic, this is the spot for you! We look forward to going back to the love shack for a longer stay next time. Thank you Bob and Jo!

  • Bob is a mensch and the love shack is great!!!

    Gleb2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Love Shack was a perfect escape from NYC! Bob is very accommodating and very approachable for travel tips. The shack/outside bathroom/fire pit area is a perfect setup for anniversaries or just to relax in nature. 10/10, would recommend.

  • We *loved* Jasmine's place. A perfect little getaway. On a quiet backroad perfect for a stroll or a bike ride right out the door. And yet pop in a car and it's just minutes into town to get a coffee or groceries. The space is very simple and cozy, with a full size kitchen, a dining table, and a couch all in one space. Bed and bath in another. The deck is ample and lovely for lounging. Jasmine was very responsive - immediately available by phone or text. A good value -- we'll definitely stay here again.

    Melissa2016-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, puppy, and I had a wonderful time at Jasmine's cabin in the woods! It offered just what we were looking for-- a relaxing weekend of solitude. The cabin is rustic, yet the kitchen offers wonderful modern amenities. We loved eating out on the back deck surrounded by nature. Be aware that the cabin is really off the beaten path, miles away from a nearby town and 30-45 minutes from good hiking. My only complaint was that the refrigerator had a bunch of food left behind by previous guests. The condiments were appreciated, but the expired cheese and half-eaten leftovers were not!

    Andrea2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect long weekend getaway. Jasmine was helpful with everything. This was a nice clean house in a beautiful setting. Would highly recommend.

    Ron2016-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend Kingston cabin. The cabin is clean and offers a big kitchen dining area perfect for meals cooked at home. Close to many cute towns and hiking. Will definitely plan a stay in the future!

    Jacob2018-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jasmine's cabin provides the perfect setting for a quiet getaway-- it is SO cozy yet incredibly open and spacious. The kitchen is a dream to cook in, the fire pit is a treat, the bathroom is beautiful and clean and to top it all off, the host is wonderful and an excellent communicator. I can't wait for our next visit to Jasmine's cabin, we had a lovely time!

    Natalia2016-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing area to relax with plenty of great views. Many amenities in case you forget something. Would definitely come back!

    Steven2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • This ended up being one of the best trips of our lives. The views/countryside were amazing. We felt we had absolute privacy at the cottage but could reach out to neighbors in an emergency. The space itself was so lovely - very homey but with modern amenities. We cooked every single meal there, ate at a gorgeous farmhouse table, relaxed in the living area and felt completely secure/warm/cozy at night. The area is gorgeous - overall a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. We would definitely stay there again without hesitation.

    Amy2017-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was amazing, tucked away in nature with a fire pit outside. Me and my wife had an awesome time. Its complete with everything you need. Its also really close to a lot of great areas, Kingston, Minnewaska Park (Gertrude's Nose was a great hike). I would definetly come back again!

  • We had a wonderful weekend at David's apartment! He's a super nice host with a lot of suggestions on what to do in the area. We biked to a nice hiking trail and saw a good band at one of the cafes he recommended. Would definitely stay there again to get away from the city.

  • David and his girlfriend were perfect hosts. The apartment was beautiful, very modern, and eco friendly. The bedroom faces the backyard which has a beautiful view of the cliff. The apartment is located on the bottom floor of David 's house and the hosts were very quiet and considerate. There is a hiking trail about 100 feet away from the house and the center of town is only a few blocks away. Overall I had a wonderful stay!

  • I spent a long weekend with my husband for our wedding anniversary. David greeted us on arrival and showed us around the apartment personally. He also gave us great restaurant recommendations and activity recommendations. The apartment was very modern in design and very clean. It has a separate entrance from the main house so you have privacy. The space was larger than expected with plenty of room to feel comfortable. The location of the apartment is walking distance to the tressle with beautiful views of joppenberg mountain. It is also walking distance to town. He had also left flowers on our table for our anniversary which was a very appreciated touch. This was my first airbnb experience and it was totally positive. David was a great host with a beautiful apartment.

This cozy cottage along with two barns was once part of a a working farm. Hand-hewn original oak post and beam construction is exposed; it gives the cottage and its cathedral ceilings, a light drenched airy ambience. Equipped with a full kitchen, one gets the country rustic atmosphere without forfeiting modern conveniences. The reclaimed wood siding in the bedroom catches the early morning light reflections of the sunrise. Hand-crafted details abound, the cabinetry, hand-made glass, and photography add accents to the decor. The bucolic surroundings are a great place for respite. One can relax in our perennial gardens or sit in the shade of the one hundred year old wooden barn amongst the hummingbirds and barn swallows. At night sit on our deck and enjoy a starry night or moon shadows without street-lighting to impede the night sky. Located in Stone Ridge, we are only minutes away from the historic village center which is convenient for restaurants, groceries, wine, and farm fresh products. At the same time, we are located on a quiet country road. Our landscape is peppered with horse farms, corn fields and even an alpaca farm! • It was easy to feel at home here. Host was very accommodating. Easy drive to surrounding areas.

  • We had an absolute wonderful time staying at the cottage this past weekend! The property was beautiful and the cottage was clean, spacious, and well stocked with amenities. We ate dinner one night at the Kitchenette (recommendation from Lisette) and it was delicious. This is a great central location for exploring the area.

    Elizabeth2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lisette's cottage is perfect. Quiet, charming from the outside, comfortable on the inside and with great cooking equipment (sharp knives, nice pots, spices, etc.). Furthermore Lisette and Reinhold were exceptionally helpful and relaxed at the same time. And of course it's a beautiful part of the world, an easy drive from NYC.

    Thomas2014-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent home for the weekend, the property is as beautiful as pictured and the house is private. Lisette and Reinhold are consummate hosts, we plan to visit again!

    Makenzie2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend stay in the cottage was delightful. It is cozy, comfortable and a peaceful place to relax. Reinhold greeted us upon arrival and Lisette, knowing we were in the Hudson Valley for a wedding, texted to let us know there was a full-length mirror on the side of a wardrobe. We appreciated their guide to local restaurants. It's a great location with pleasant rural views, great for hiking. We especially enjoyed a walking tour of the Delaware and Hudson Canal locks conducted by members of the local historical society.

    Andrea2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at Lisette's little cabin. Everything was comfortable and came with all you need to really feel at home. Beautiful setting with plenty of nearby attractions.

    Eli2016-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was beautiful- very clean and cozy. It's a perfect place for two. My boyfriend and I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and relaxing on the porch. I would definitely recommend staying here.

    Meg2015-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • The space: incredible light, gorgeous wood, spare and clean, well-appointed, everything you need + more: the kitchen was generously stocked with all of the essential ingredients and appliances for baking and cooking. The hospitality: couldn't have been better - Lisette was exceptionally communicative and kind. Before we arrived we received an extensive guidebook to the area replete with hiking, shopping & restaurant recommendations. Reinhold warmly received us and alerted us to inbound inclement weather which was key because we weren't aware that the weather would be less than ideal. Lisette checked in on us throughout the weekend to ensure that we were staying safe and warm and had everything we needed. Too, when we emailed to see if we might have a later checkout, Lisette generously granted it with no extra charge, encouraging us to take our time. Frankly, we couldn't have felt more at home in their space. We would love to return one day. The area: full of great restaurants - we had a fantastic dinner at Butterfield. There's a great co-op and grocery store within 5 minutes driving. Though the weather didn't permit us to hike one of the nearby trails, we had a restful and connecting time - this is the kind of home you want to have for your weekend away in the event that you're unable to get out and do stuff; perfect for loafing, reading, enjoying the light, sinking into silence.

  • Great little place! We loved the cute decorating touches (like the cello on the wall!) and the breakfast items left for us. I especially enjoyed the looseleaf tea. A great base for looking at wedding venues in the area. Thanks again Bill!

    Maya2015-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was my wife and I's second stay at Bill's selkie apartment. Bill was very hospitable and ensured the place was clean and well stocked (better than a full kitchen hotel suite)! AC worked great during the afternoon (90+ degrees), and the screened windows provided a cool, relaxing and peaceful evening. Bill was very responsive during the booking process and throughout our stay (we booked on short notice just a few days before). Also, he provided restaurant recommendations, which turned out great! Kingston and other popular areas/attractions are just a short drive away.

    Cliff2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Bill's apartment was exactly as pictured and full of little touches that made us feel welcome. It is obvious that he cares about the space, and he is an excellent host: available if you need anything, but not invasive of privacy. He welcomed us with delicious homemade bread, fresh roasted coffee and an apple crisp, straight out of the oven. A perfect autumn getaway from the city.

    Lindsay2014-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • This has been far beyond what we expected from airbnb experience - cozy place, home baked bread, talks under the stars and guitar songs by the fire place..we had a great time and we are looking forward to visiting William and Hawley again..

    Jan2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and Hawley's cottage is a great place to stay in the Hudson Valley. It's a stone's throw away from the best the area has to offer -- hiking, restaurants, farms, and orchards are all easily accessible. The room is comfortable and cozy, and backyard is lovely spot to read or relax in. In addition to being communicative hosts, Bill and Hawley are fantastic to spend time with. Make sure to ask Bill what he's cooked recently when you visit! Thanks for having us!

    Claudia2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • William was a great host! He prepared fresh bread and orange juice and roasted coffee for us. His place is quiet and private, perfect for a weekend getaway!

    Gisela2015-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and Hawley were exceptional hosts who were always there when we needed them. The place was cozy and well thought out with everything we could have wanted. We cooked a majority of our meals in the getaway and everything worked to perfection! There were many great hiking trails and towns just a short drive away. We enjoyed the DVD collection and games as well, as the whole point of the weekend was to escape from the hustle and bustle. We will absolutely be back!

    Blair2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I loved staying at Bill's cottage. It was everything we wanted and more. Bill was super welcoming, gave us great recommendations, and baked us bread! That plus the fresh apples, eggs, and great selection of tea and we didn't want to leave. We only wish we could have stayed longer! Thanks so much Bill!! Hopefully we'll see you again!

  • Great little cozy cabin! We didn't arrive until late Friday night. Judy was very kind, coming out to meet us and allowing us to use the hot tub at the late hour. The place was very clean and the downtowns of both Rosendale and Kingston were very cute! Keegan ales, brewery in Kingston. Outdated in Kingston was a fun breakfast/lunch stop. There was also a farmers market in downtown Kingston on Saturday. Christina's was a very good Italian restaurant with nice indoor and outdoor seating. Nice hikes around the area as well! All in all it was a very relaxing stay and weekend!

    Tanya2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • My partner & I had a wonderful weekend staying at Judy & John's cottage. The one-room cottage is cute & was very clean. The kitchen was small but sufficient enough for us to cook a delicious meal & the Keurig with multiple options was an added bonus! The hosts were gracious and gave us our privacy but did leave us a nice welcome note, snacks & a bottle of wine. The cottage shares a driveway with the main house so the hosts are readily accessible but gave us space & privacy. The information they left for us was very helpful & we would definitely stay at the cottage again in the future!

    Nicole2014-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! Judy and John are such nice hosts and we couldn't have been happier.

    Kate2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend at Judy and John's cabin. It is very comfortable, has everything you could need for a weekend, the property is a gorgeous forest, and the hot tub under the stars is awesome! If you are looking for a nice weekend in the lower hudson valley, this is a great place to stay!

    Yosef2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay in this little cottage with my lady. We booked last minute in hopes to get out of the city and I feel pretty lucky to have landed in such a great little magical town. Judy and John showed us the utmost of hospitality while allowing us freedom and privacy. We used their bikes to get in to town, enjoyed the hot tub, and listened to the relaxing melodies of the night on the back porch. If you are looking for a weekend get away for two, look no further. Shack up in this little cottage and explore all the amenities and adventures Rosendale has to offer!

    Kyle2015-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Judy & John's cabin. It's just out of the way enough to feel secluded, but still a shortish walk to interesting shops and cafes in Rosendale, and very easy to get to from New York City via bus. The cabin is spacious enough for two, well-equipped with cooking supplies and has pleasant views of the surrounding area. We particularly enjoyed using the hot tub! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an upstate getaway – although if you're planning to visit more of the surrounding region, you will definitely want to bring a car.

    Elliot2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely stay at Judy & John's. The cottage was cozy and had everything we needed. We cooked dinner there and visited the local festivals. The leaves were changing and everything was beautiful.

    Katrina2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I booked with Judy & John mainly based on location because we had bought tickets to the Headless Horseman and decided to make a long weekend trip out of it. After reading through so many positive reviews, it was an easy decision to choose the modern cottage! As many past guests have mentioned, Judy & John have great communication and start your stay off with a thoughtful welcome, as well as provide simple and clear instructions on the things you would need to know. The cottage is adjacent to their home, but they offer you complete privacy, even when using the hot tub that is positioned behind the main house. We loved being able to walk over in the robes and crocs they provided to relax after a long day of activities. Judy & John also provide a list of places located in town as well as the surrounding area and are more than willing to answer any of your questions or give you great tips/suggestions. We had a wonderful weekend and would definitely book with them again!

Please read my entire description. I am very honest! This is a place for younger people who want to hike and check out the area. This is NOT a place for neat freaks, people with bad backs or conservative types. I did just get a softer mattress than the very firm futon I had. It is still firm, though, and Queen sized. For summer, there is nearby very small swimming hole right under trestle.
Self contained 600 square foot apartment with own entrance in large home. Please read my ENTIRE description before booking. It is very honest. If you are a young liberal person from Brooklyn, you will probably be happy. If you are conservative retired couple you will not!! I welcome dogs and do not charge a cleaning fee so obviously I am not a neat freak. I clean the place and the towels and sheets and dishes will be clean but you may see an occasional dust bunny or cobweb in a book shelf. That sort of thing. Also, my kitchen linoleum and bathtub are from 1980 something. Clean but not a place you want to take a romantic bath. There are stains on the linoleum and tub and grout. The shower has good water pressure, though. My kitchen cabinets are hideous and not in wonderful shape. The immediate outside neighborhood is extremely safe but run down looking. Also, keep in mind that the Hudson Valley is not cheap. If you are not from the area, you may expect more for the price. That being said, the good points: A short walk to Main street, this bright and sunny one bedroom in a renovated old warehouse storage building for the railroad, is just yards from the entrance to the rail trail which extends 12 flat miles through New Paltz to Gardner. There is a lovely stone stair path down to the river under the trestle where one can swim and people take dogs. Lots of scenic hikes branch off the trail nearby. Building is located next to trestle, pictured on very small road. I believe it is already possible to take the rail trail over the trestle all the way to Kingston to the north and I know you can go all the way to Gardner, through New Paltz, to the south. (URL HIDDEN) Apartment has high ceilings, exposed beams, and lots of sun. Private entrance. Full EIK, kitchen table for two, microwave , gas stove, coffee maker, toaster. Cable and wi fi. Lots of cool books and vintage stuff. Firm Queen size foam mattress on sturdy wood frame. My tv is old but works fine. It is in bedroom. No tv in living room. . Shop at great vintage store, Soiled Doves. Rent a bike at Favata's and head down the trail. We have several restaurants in town and a movie theater, an old one. Movies are usually $8 and the canned sodas and seltzers are a dollar. The $3 popcorn comes without yellow sludge but they do have nutritional yeast. It is host to part of the Woodstock Film Festival in fall. Half hour to Woodstock, hour to Hunter Mt., 20 min to Mohonk, 10 min to New Paltz. I have provided a list of recommended stores and eateries and some hand drawn maps of good hikes to take right out the door. This apartment is in the building adjacent to the parking lot used to access the trail and has parking for two vehicles in front of the apartment entrance in rear of building. The parking lot is now closed to the public so it is a nice advantage to have parking so close. Apt is about one mile from bus stop that goes to and from Port Authority. Quiet neighborhood. More than 2 people possible but they would need to bring sleeping gear as I don't recommend the option of the pull out couch. It is not comfortable. Also, my television is only for watching in bed. If watching television is important for you, you may want to rent a place with a living room TV! Other drawbacks: no porch, no yard, no hot tub, no gorgeous view from my place (although the view out of the windows isn't at all bad). . I welcome dogs No barkers or chewers, please. No tobacco inside house please!! My place seems to appeal to younger people. I am middle aged but very immature. I am an artist and I have some weird art so not for those with conservative taste. For geologists, the Binnewater Hills seen from the trestle have been hailed as a Geologist’s paradise.
  • The description of Gretchen's place is spot on. I enjoyed a quiet, short stay and didn't have a problem with the space. Gretchen was super quick to respond to anything we needed. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat if you're looking for a nice small space at an awesome value.

    Robert2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Gretchen gave us clear and detailed directions to her place. It was secluded but near to the Rail Trail and Rosedale. In the apartment, she left more information about the apartment and the surrounding area. The apartment was charming, spacious and comfortable. And so quiet! We had a great stay and would stay there again.

    Beddy2015-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gretchen made everything simple and easy. Excellent communication. Flexibility with times was wonderful. The space was spacious, private, and welcoming. Will hopefully be coming back!

    Avichai2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed the apartment =) Listing is as described, Gretchen was generous (place wasn't booked immediately after us so there wasn't a check out time-woo hoo!) and super easy to communicate with, and the location is minutes away from town and peaceful at night. Nice trails just steps from the apt that my dog, bf, and I enjoyed every morning and afternoon. Neighbors were friendly as well. Would stay here again!

    Cam2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Greatchen's place is the perfect getaway in the mountains. The apartment has everything you need and the bed is very comfy, I came with my pup and Gretchen was extremely accommodating, her place is very pet friendly. She is an excellent communicator as well, for directions and all the need to knows for the town that's only a stone throw away. It has great shops and places to eat. The Rail Trail and Trestle are just right around the corner, great for an easy hike. It was short but sweet, would love to go back and explore more.

    Diana2018-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Gretchen’s place. The apartment has a ton of character and is very cozy. The place is definitely walkable to town and close to trails. We loved Gretchen’s personal reviews of the restaurants and spots to go in town. The place was clean and had all the amenities we could have asked for. Highly recommend! Thanks Gretchen!

    Oliver2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gretchen is a wonderful host-helpful in every way. I highly recommend staying at this apartment. So close to everything Rosendale.

    Jason2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Gretchen's apartment was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. It was only a 5 minute walk into Rosendale and a very short drive to Kingston, New Paltz and Poughkeepsie. There's a trestle right next to the apartment and a nice trail as well. The inside of the apartment is pretty eclectic which made the stay more enjoyable.

Built over 100 years ago as a chicken hatchery, this gorgeous little gem has been fully restored as a two-story guest cottage. Located in New Paltz just minutes off Exit 18 on I-87 in a very private, quiet, country setting. Only ten minutes from New Paltz Village & SUNY New Paltz and set back on a lightly traveled road for those long summer strolls. You don't even need a car to get here! It's just 12 minutes by taxi from the New Paltz Bus Station or bring your bike up and cycle everywhere!
The Little Yellow Cottage displays much of it's original construction including post and beam, stained glass in the cupola (even an original stained glass portrait of Abraham Lincoln!) and a screened in porch for breakfast with a view or just hanging out. Inside you’ll find a spiral staircase and all the 21st century amenities you’d expect, including radiant in-floor heat, AC, TV, wi-fi and laundry in the full kitchen. One queen bed sleeps two on the ground level and one Murphy bed sleeps a single on the lower level. Private picnic table right outside. And the postal code may say Highland, but the Little Yellow Cottage is really in New Paltz!
Check out the funky art hub of New Paltz or SUNY New Paltz just 10 minutes away or climb the Shawanagunk Mountains 15 minutes away. You don’t even need a car! Bring your bike up on the bus or train and take a taxi ($12) to the Little Yellow Cottage. Cycle the 20 minutes into New Paltz or even spend a day on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail also just 20 minutes away. Talk a long walk on a quiet country road and snap a selfie at the tranquil Black Creek just a minute away.
  • The cabin is beautiful and quiet and set in a lovely, secluded location. It has everything you need and is laid out thoughtfully. It is really clean and there are lots of thoughtful touches. A beautiful area with lots to do. We would definitely return!

  • The yellow cottage is so charming! We loved the natural light and the screened in porch was amazing. Justin, thank you so much for the hospitality! We love your little place!

    Matthew2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • I spent a very peaceful 8 days in this space resting while on a trip to the area for business. It was a welcome reprieve from the local hotels and an astonishing and whimsical space. Justin was attentive and detail-oriented in all communication with me and the space was great. Definitely consider this lovely place when traveling to the area.

  • We loved our stay at the Little Yellow Cottage! The cottage was charming and clean, exactly as pictured. We especially loved the screened porch and the picnic table outside. Justin was very helpful and communicative during our whole stay, answering all of our questions in a timely manner. The booklet that he provided us with suggestions for New Paltz was also a wonderful touch. This was by far one of our best Airbnb experiences yet, and we hope to be back soon!

    Kathi2018-09-16T00:00:00Z

We were able to relax in many areas of this home especially the screened in porch. I highly recommend this home.

  • Sean & Hope are the great hosts, intelligent, kind and sincere. Their home is tastefully decorated and clean. I so appreciated the art on the walls, the crisp white bedsheets, the cozy kitchen and amazing views of the Rondout Creek and Rail Trail. Upon arrival, Sean and Hope were there to greet us...along with Otto (their sweet dog). The apartment is on the top floor and has a big bedroom with lots of windows and beautiful views. The bathroom is stocked with everything one could possibly need including robes. The outside is just as beautiful with a landscaped garden and patio furniture to sit and enjoy the outdoors.

    Rosemarie2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay for one night in Rosendale. The house was easy to find and close to a beautiful swimming spot.

    Carly2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to stay for our weekend in Rosendale. Sean and Hope have created a wonderful apt., ideal for a couple. Great attention has been paid to every detail, including honestly one of the most beautifully arranged bouquets of flowers I've ever seen, waiting for us in the bedroom when we arrived. The rooms were immaculate and furnished with a keen designer's eye. We were pleasantly surprised to find two bottles of cider, apples, great coffee (with 3 types of milk to choose from!) in the fridge when we arrived. The bathroom was well stocked with towels and every type of toiletry one could need. And Sean has an in-depth knowledge of the area's history and geology, which he eagerly shared with us. This is the place to stay in Rosendale.

    James2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and Hope's second level apartment is so stylish and chic with very artsy touches all over the place. We had all that we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was great with nice views of the trestle and river. The trail to the trestle is right across from the apartment with amazing views from above. Apartment has its own parking right in front of it as well as a private entrance which is nice. We are happy to recommend the place to anyone.

  • Great location and everything you need

    Carla2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely adored staying at Sean & Hope’s home. The photos do not do it justice! Sean & Hope really put thought into everything- from the eclectic decorations, awesome books, supplied toiletries, and the helpful local food & fun guides. Coming from the city, it was a relief to be able to walk to everything in town and to the nearby hiking trails without having a car. Sean & Hope were super communicative from the beginning and we could have not asked for better hosts. We hope to make it back for a second stay!

    Hayley2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and Hope's Rosendale Trestle View was delightful and just as described. Clean, homey, and with beautiful views and gardens. We loved their shelves full of books, their cozy chairs, and their quaint kitchen. We would certainly book their apartment, again.

    Ashley2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Sean and Hope were wonderful hosts. The apartment was decorated with fun decor and the floral arrangements were lovely. The kitchen was well stocked. The bedroom had many books on various subjects, both fiction and nonfiction in addition to information about things to do and restaurants to try. Great stay!

Barn apartment is private, ***yet connects to the main house***. Barn apartment has a Tempurpedic mattress in the loft, full kitchen & copper tub/shower attachment in your private bath. The home is small, as is the water heater. Please keep this in mind when you run the bath. The property backs up to 45 acres on the mountain, yet is minutes from the village. Off-street parking.
The barn has hand-hewn pine beams, plenty of skylights and a copper fan hangs from the high ceiling. Sliding glass doors with screens look out onto the quiet road and forest. **The barn doors can be shut at night for complete privacy or be left open so you can watch the stars.** **The Barn is in the woods. Please bring your allergy medicine with you.** The Barn is shaded by trees and stays cool in the summer due to shade trees. There is also a window air conditioner with remote, available June through September. In addition, a copper ceiling fan and fan in the loft will keep your days & nights cool. In winter, the Barn stays toasty with electric heat. It warms up in 5 minutes!
This property is right on the mountain going up toward Mohonk on a quiet dead-end road. We are surrounded by some of the most oft-pictured scenes of The Gunks, yet New Paltz, with its specialty grocers, clothing stores and movie house, is minutes away. In the Fall, you are minutes on foot, by car or via bike to the stunning foliage of Butterville Road. In Winter you are in the midst of ski country, with ski resorts just miles up the Thruway. Alternatively you can cuddle up with a good book on the couch.
  • Marthe is a very nice host, communicative, easy going & helpful. She provided coffee, snacks & lots of bottled water. We were told by locals that New Paltz has sulfur in the water so it has a nasty smell for those not use to it. The barn is cozy warm & has a great location. However we found the "bedroom" in the loft very tight ( you can't stand up there) and the tub/ shower difficult to use. We also had trouble keeping the barn door closed at night. We thought the apartment was better suited to people younger than ourselves.

    Carol2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time. Right near the mountains perfect for hiking, and Marthe left us fresh bread and cheese. Looking forward to coming back.

    Joshua2016-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • I loved Marthe's barn! The space is adorable and perfectly equipped for two people. Marthe was a wonderful host, who left us all the essentials, as well as eggs, cheese, and snacks. The location CANNOT be beat. It's on a quiet street but a 5 minute drive to the town of New Paltz or up Mohonk. We met Marthe briefly and she was lovely (and her dogs were adorable).

    Samantha2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at the barn apartment for two nights was excellent. Marthe was a hospitable, accommodating host, and the barn apartment perfect for a couple looking for a weekend getaway. Conveniently located, about ten min from Main Street/town. Great stay!

    Christine2015-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay! Marthe’s place is very clean, with a minimal beauty while being very comfortable and cozy. Full kitchen amenities and an amazing copper tub with Sulpher well water. She also left us fresh eggs, cream and butter in the fridge, and tea & coffee. The barn is connected to her main house, though she gave us total privacy- we never actually met but communication was great. The location is very secluded and quiet, but only a five minute drive into town. We had a great mix of staying in, going out to town, and driving to hiking excursions in Minnewaska State Park. Highly recommended and will definitely return!

    Kati2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Marthe’s place- the space is beautiful. Looking forward to a trip back soon!

  • Super cozy and comforting space for two (or one!). Has all of the essentials and location is beautiful. It's nice to look out the window and see mountains in the distance and have peace and quiet. Marthe's is the perfect weekend getaway !

    Kieran2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute space! Loved the copper tub (the sulfur water wasn’t an issue at all, hardly smelled it), the rustic vibes, and the cozy sleeping loft.

Cottage perched on top of hill with 22' long floor to ceiling windows. Have a front row seat with fabulous view of the "Gunks" and the Mohonk Preserve/Mountain House. Built to Passive House principles too! PETS WELCOME BY REQUEST! DOGS ONLY PLEASE. $25 CASH PET FEE PER DOG TO BE LEFT IN MASON JAR BEFORE CHECKING OUT. THANK YOU!
This is a Passive house, very efficient and well insulated, with focussed attention to eliminate thermal bridging in the construction. The windows are triple paned and run over 20 feet from floor to ceiling in the living area. The ceiling is insulated to R-92, for those who might be interested in this valuable and ecological method of construction coming to us from Europe. What it comes down to is that the place is really comfortable and at a constant steady temperature no matter the weather. The air inside is replaced and refreshed completely every hour. There is a separate bedroom, also with huge windows and a lovely view of the Mohonk Preserve Ridge and the Mountain House. The full bath comes with a deep soaking tub and shower. The kitchen includes all appliances with a dishwasher as well all utensils, a selection of pots and pans, coffee maker, etc. The kitchen and living room are one large and comfortable room. A TV with cable, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and WIFI as well as a Sonos speaker are there for guests to enjoy. But the view is what makes it! There is a gorgeous panorama of sky and ridge line with ever changing light and meandering wildlife in the meadow below. The cottage is in its own "room" of oaks and hickories, oldies, backed by gardens and a parklike lawn.
This is the Hudson Valley countryside at its best! There are 25,000 acres of protected land to hike, bike, rock climb, swim, snow shoe, cross country ski and generally just enjoy! Within 5-15 minutes guests can find any amenity from wineries, breweries, restaurants, orchards, farm stands, historic villages and sites, outdoor recreation, spas, vegan and vegetarian options, food shopping, health food co op, pizza, drugstores, antiques and vintage shops. It's all here!
  • Very stylish place with an incredible view. We will definitely visit again!

  • Everything from check-in to check out was nothing short of perfect. From the moment we arrived at the Cottage, we felt at home. This is an absolute gem of a place, the house is spacious but cozy and has everything you need for a marvelous vacation. Getting to wake up every morning to the fantastic view was a gift and thanks to the many tipps we got from Sterrett, we had more than enough to explore and discover in the vicinity. I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat.

    Ennio2018-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Sun Cottage is our new favorite place to stay! It is spacious and comfortable, and so aesthetically pleasing with the amazing view and Sterrett’s creative sense of design. The bed is super comfy and the bathtub is wonderful. As always, Sterrett is a perfect host. We look forward to returning soon!

    Elaine2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best Airbnb places we’ve been to! Very peaceful and loved everything about this beautiful cottage. We’ll definitely be back again! Thanks so much!

    Kayla2018-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Sterrett's cottage after our wedding in the Catskills. The cottage is idyllic and has inspired us to build our own getaway one day. It's obvious that everything in the cottage was chosen with a great deal of care - from the deep soaking tub, to the poured concrete floors, the floor to ceiling windows that showcase the stunning view, and oversized kitchen table - just beautiful and relaxing and perfect. We're both very light sleepers and have never slept in a place so completely quiet. The icing on the cake was how wonderful a host Sterrett was - so responsive, and helpful with local dining suggestions.

    Jared2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! The house is modern and very clean, and there's a spectacular view of the landscape.

    Hannah2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sterrett's cottage was one of the most beautiful places we have ever spent a night. While the photos look wonderful, seeing the place in person took our breath away. The views are stunning, and the space itself is so incredibly well designed. We loved everything about it, and we felt at peace just being there. The location is ideal, nearby great hiking, dining, and anything else you might need. I absolutely recommend staying here, and hope to make it back myself sometime soon.

    Risa2018-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed solo style, as I had an unexpected extra day of vacation! Needless to say the space provided by Sterrett was an exquisite retreat with beyond amazing amenities. Very much recommended for a couple looking for a calming retreat or a solo stay. Also, I didn’t have the opportunity to cook but the kitchen was extraordinary. Very much recommend the space- it was truly lovely!

Relax and unwind in a newly converted and light filled barn in a tranquil country setting. The space features two floors with modern amenities and a full, and half bathroom, and is very family friendly. Situated close to Kingston, the hamlets of High Falls and Stone Ridge, yet just far enough out to feel you're away from city hustle and bustle. We’re only 1 1/2 hours north of the city in picturesque hudson valley and are just recently functioning completely 'off the grid' via solar panels.
Cozy up in 1100 square feet of light filled and spacious surroundings. Lounge on a nice cushy couch and get a great night’s sleep on some very comfortable beds. Wake up to the sounds of the birds and the wind rustling in the leaves. Take a few days off and head up to the lovely Hudson valley for a memorable trip. We promise you'll be rejuvenated. We have an eat in kitchen with induction stove top as well as a countertop electric oven and an undercounter refrigerator. We also have a couple of coffee plunge pots, electric kettle, pots and pans, dishware, bowls, cutlery and a decent selection of oils and spices.
There are so many things to do and see in the surrounding towns including amazing hiking trails, swimming holes, farms & farmer's markets, apple picking, vintage stores, barn sales, restaurants and cafes.
  • We really enjoyed staying there. The place was so cute and clean. The property is absolutely beautiful. Perfect for a quite getaway. Quick access to Rosendale, New Paltz, and Kingston. I would recommend it for sure.

    Steven2017-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the barn for a coupled days of escape from the city with our two young kids. The space is beautifully renovated. As of this review I know they're also still working on adding amenities, but Jasmine was really upfront and clear about what the space entailed (eg. small partial kitchen, more outdoor amenities coming soon, etc...) and so there were no surprises. Great communication, and a really lovely spot to enjoy this neck of Ulster County.

    George2018-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jasmine's property is beautiful and ideally located between many cute little towns. I would definitely stay again!

    Meriwether2018-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I and our two dogs stayed at Jasmine's converted barn for four nights and loved it! This was our first airbnb experience and will absolutely continue to use this form of accommodation since staying here. It was such a comfortable space, nicely decorated with several amenities provided just in case we forgot to pack anything. The local towns are not far and full of things to see -- and Jasmine is amazing at providing a list of suggested places to go! We will have to come back just to visit them all! Jasmine was very responsive to any questions/messages we had, even though she was in another country at the time. The kitchen was something we were a little worried about but it proved to be very functional for what we needed. Thank you Jasmine for a remarkable first airbnb experience!

    Carole2018-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the barn! had a great stay here. Jasmine was very responsive and answered our questions right away. She gave us great reccos for things to do in the area, and even let us use the pool (which we didnt - but if we had stayed longer probably would have!) I'm strongly considering coming back in the near future. This was a perfect weekend getaway for me and my husband and our dog.

    Hana2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Jasmine's barn. Enjoyed the large back yard for a picnic listening to the birds. The barn was spotless with two large bedrooms and a comfortable sofa. The kitchenette was fully equipped with pots and pans. I am sure we will be back.

    Melanie2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great place and Jasmine was very easy to communicate with.

    Shea2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a peaceful stay at the barn. Jasmine and Ken have done a remarkable job of outfitting the place. It's very comfortable, spacious, and situated conveniently to towns such as Woodstock, Rosendale, New Paltz and more. They gave us great local tips about trails and restaurants. There are so many great options nearby. We were really happy to learn about the property being powered by solar energy too. We did some exploring but we also enjoyed spending time at the property relaxing - a wonderful space to rest and recharge. We could tell they really cared about us having a good experience. Thank you!

This spacious, historic brick 2nd story 2 bedroom walkup overlooks the quaint Rosendale Main St. Commanding views up and down the street and short walks to restaurants and entertainment put you right in the middle of the "action".
This spacious 2nd story walkup (translation...19 stairs) is in an ideal location to experience Rosendale's small town atmosphere. The 2 bedroom, 800 sq foot private apartment is the upstairs of an historic circa 1890 brick brownstone. With hardwood floors and sunny south, east and west facing windows overlooking busy Main Street, the view is commanding. Kitchen is fully equipped and has gas cooking. One bathroom with cast iron, claw foot, tub and shower. Main bedroom has a queen-sized bed, the 2nd bedroom is a sleeping loft (accessible by ladder only) and also has a queen sized bed. Less than two hours north of New York City, Rosendale is a progressive town with activities almost every week including the Rosendale Street festival, Woodstock movie festival and the International Pickle Festival. The bus stop to/from the city is a 15 minute walk from the house, so no car needed if you are travelling lightly. Within 2 minute walk: The Rosendale Cafe, The Big Cheese, the Alternative Baker, Red Brick Tavern, the 1850's House, The Rosendale Theatre, (great, independent films for $6), acupuncture, massage, yoga and hiking on Joppenburgh Mountain. Within a 15 minute walk there is the library, post office, liquor store, two pizza places, the Rail Trail (hiking, and biking) with trestle, boutique retail, and the Rondout creek. Table Rock tours is nearby for bicycle rentals. Talk to me for secret swimming holes nearby.
Our neighborhood is made up of warm, open, down to earth people, expect to make a friend of the first person you meet. This is an earthy town similar to Woodstock.
  • We had a great stay here! The location is right in the middle of town, with access to everything we needed. We enjoyed morning coffee at the bakery across the street, dinner at the Bywater Bistro, uncovered some great finds at the neighboring vintage store, and enjoyed the farmer's market steps from our door on Sunday! The apartment itself is eclectic and inviting. Upon arrival we quickly dispersed and settled into the window alcove or leather couch, and tucked into books and knitting projects. All three of us slept very comfortably, and the blackout curtains to block nearby street lights worked perfectly! The entire apartment was clean and had great light, and we enjoyed perusing the book collection after a long day on our feet at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. John was so helpful, and answered our (many) questions, even the ones which arose from us not reading signage correctly. (sorry John!) We loved our stay here, and will definitely keep it in mind for our next trip up!

    Shannon2014-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great. The apartment was even bigger and better than we expected. Check in and communication were very smooth. We loved the town, it was easy to find.

  • This apartment was exactly what we needed as a base to explore the area. Perfect location in the center of town within walking distance of Bywater Bistro, 1850 Tavern, & we even walked to Market Market for dinner one night. 15 minutes from Minnewaska/Mohonk and within 30 minutes of a ton more great hikes - we did Peter's Kill, Bonticou Crag, & Stony Kill Falls. The apartment was immaculate and John was very helpful with everything. Great spot!

    Brendan2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the Heart of Rosendale. AirBnB description is accurate. Easy and prompt communication with the host, who suggested a wonderful dinner place our first night. This is a large 2 BR apartment with full kitchen and laundry. Six restaurants within a block. We can recommend Bywater Bistro, Alternative Bakery and Big Cheese. Didn't try 1850 House, Garden House, or Rosendale Cafe.

    Russell2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our host John was very accommodating and extremely helpful! We arrived by bus and John offered to pick us up from the bus stop. He arrived right on time and offered to drive us to the grocery store before dropping us off at the apartment. John showed us around town and recommended the most popular things to do, places to go, etc. Once we arrived, the apartment was as pictured and described on the website. Everything was clean, the kitchen was fully stocked with kitchenware, there were plenty of towels, and many cozy spots throughout the apartment. The town and it's surroundings were very interesting and beautiful with Rondout Creek. We particularly enjoyed hiking the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail which is located within walking distance from town. We have many great pictures of the spectacular view from Rosendale Trestle bridge. It was a wonderful and enjoyable stay and we will recommend it to friends and family. Many thanks to John, Althea, and little Alexander!

    Liliya2014-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was really nice, beautifully set up and comfortable. Right in the heart of Rosendale as described with a full kitchen, nice bed and a tv with Netflix. There's also a really nice trail behind the building. Great get away spot if you want some peace and quiet.

    Justin2014-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is beautiful, warm, and artistically decorated - we were happy spending our whole wknd cozied up inside! But looking out the window we decided to head out and check out Rosendale, which is quirky, lively, and friendly. Althea and John were so accommodating, warm, and flexible; plus, they allowed us to bring our dog which was so great! I can't wait to come back here. One of the best places I've stayed on Air BnB.

    Leah2014-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in the Heart of Rosendale. The apartment was cute with it's shabby chic decor and conveniently located to nearby Kingston. John was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to questions/requests. We'll definitely be back so we can continue our exploration of Hudson Valley.

This is an old renovated milk barn on a working farm. Both of the sleeping spaces are lofts that require going up stable wooden ladders. There is running water, a kitchen, living room & bathroom. We strive to create a sustainable living model on our farm by converting human waste to methane. The milkbarn has a composting toilet which means that it does not flush. The toilet is similar to an outhouse, only it is in the bathroom & uses sawdust rather than water.
This space was originally lined with stainless steel & was a walk-in cooler for milk when it was a working dairy farm in the 1940s. It was reovated by master carpenter David Raponi, hence the name "Dave's Milk Barn". It has wood heat. We make the fires for our guests. This barn has a lot of vertical space. It is fully insulated & the original vaulted ceiling is still intact.
This is a rural neighborhood. The property is adjacent to the Mohonk Preserve & the trails are within walking distance to our land. We are only 8 miles from the college town of New Paltz, NY. We are 3 miles to the village of High Falls, NY. There are many restaurants, antique shops & other interesting shops in the area.
  • The barn was as perfect a place as I could imagine for a special father-son getaway to Catskill's nature. Toby was very responsive to our questions prior to the visit and everything about the space and the farm and area around was magical. The barn is incredibly well and thoughtfully renovated and quite comfortable. We were toasty warm with the wood-burning stove that Toby's son, Rio, showed us how to light. And Rio's dinner recommendations in the area were spot-on. And to top it off, we had a lovely conversation and cup of tea with Toby the morning we were leaving. A great time and I couldn't have asked for anything more. I hope to be back during future visits to the area!

  • Absolutely a great place to get away to if you're in the area - perfect spot to unwind after day long hiking trips. The view & sounds at night definitely take you away from town / city life to just sit back and relax.

    Aaron2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed having a quiet, off-the-grid feeling place, close to New Paltz to retreat, and great farm-stay overall.

    Sarah2018-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Milk Barn is exactly as described - rustic, gorgeous, cozy - and Toby and her son are great hosts! The place was closer to Mohonk and New Paltz than I was expecting, so it is a fabulous place to stay to enjoy all the trails, mountains, and towns of the area. And in case anyone is nervous - the composting toilet is easy and odorless.

Fully renovated schoolhouse first built in the 19th century. On Mohonk Preserve, guests have access to over 80 miles of hiking trails from the garden. Enjoy all that the region has to offer - cultural scene in New Paltz, Minnewaska State Park, Woodstock, cross-country/downhill skiing, snowshoeing, renowned cycling and mountain biking as well as rock climbing.
The house was built as a schoolhouse in the mid-19th century for the local community. Originally one room, the class chalkboard was under where the stairs to the newly installed 2nd floor are. The bookcase in what is now the living room was the first public library in Ulster County, NY. The house sits on 2 acres of land, which backs onto the prestigious Mohonk Mountain Reserve. You may catch deer searching for some tasty tulips. Keep an eye out for wild turkey!
  • This house is amazing. Just outside of town by Mohonk Mountain House. Property is stunning and stylish. Amenities are great, but has the feel of being in the woods. Perfect retreat from the city. Alex is super helpful and easy to communicate with. They also have tips for the surrounding area. It’s the getaway spot you see in magazines.

I couldn't be more pleased with our stay.

  • Alex was the most gracious host: attentive, forthcoming, and easily accessible. The house and setting are just glorious: spacious, warm, tasteful, clean & cozy indoors and serene, beautiful outdoors. Highly recommend for a mid-winter getaway!

  • A lovely little place in a beautiful natural setting! The Clove Schoolhouse definitely feels off the grid, but is a quick and scenic drive from the shops and restaurants of New Paltz and High Falls. The house itself is clean and very comfortable. One tip for summer guests: there are no blinds on many of the windows, so pack an eye mask if you're light-sensitive and want to sleep past daybreak.

Our home is a beautiful, serene space nestled next to the Mohonk Preserve, and only an hour and a half from NYC. The quaint farmhouse was originally built in 1848 and has been tastefully modernized, while retaining many original features. Whether you're interested in hiking, biking, swimming and climbing or just looking for a calm space to read or relax, our home offers a restorative getaway for a week or weekend.
Like many old farmhouses, the house is oriented away from the road facing to the yard and woods. You enter the through french doors on the back porch. The bottom floor is our living space, with a couch, games and tv (with DirecTV). When there are more than 4 guests, this is a great place to use the queen sized air mattress. Like the rest of the house, the space is a fusion of old and new - polished concrete floors in contrast to the axe cut beams that run across the ceiling. We recently upgraded the heating and cooling system so you'll be comfortable no matter the season. In the winter months, there's a wood burning stove that can be used instead of the heat. The second floor is the largest and holds the open floor plan kitchen and dining room, as well as the guest bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen is outfitted with all the cookware you'll need to make a good meal. Feeling lazy? The bathroom has an old claw foot tub, perfect for a soak on a chilly day. The top floor is taken up by the master bedroom and large closet/sitting area. It's a calm, uncluttered space perfect for a good night's sleep. Both beds are from Leesa, Casper's better-reviewed competitor, and bedding is from Brooklinen and Parachute. Outside, the property offers privacy and tranquility. The porch is a great place to enjoy a cold drink or a meal when it's nice out (there's a charcoal BBQ you can use) and around the corner there's an outdoor shower for summertime. The yard has a dog run if you bring your pup or you can take the trail to the back of the property and check out the pond.
While the house is great for just relaxing, it's location offers a ton of options for both outdoor and indoor activities. The property itself is big enough to explore and the house is close to Mohonk Preserve (less than 5 minutes) and Minnewaska State Park (15 minutes) for hiking, biking, swimming, rock climbing and cross country skiing. If you're more interested in local shops and restaurants, High Falls, New Paltz, Stone Ridge and Rosendale are all within 15 minutes. Kingston, about 20 minutes away, offers even more options, including Smorgasbord Upstate on weekends.
  • Beautiful and peaceful home while still being close to several town centers. House was comfortable and clean and the property was gorgeous. Jackie and Charles were very easy to reach and helpful, and check-in couldn't have been easier. Would definitely book again!

  • We came up for Friendsgiving and had a wonderful time with our two dogs. Jackie and Charles are great hosts. Very responsive and helpful. The house is cute and cozy. It's well equipped and clean. Love the little trail to the pond behind the house too!

  • We stayed here for a week with toddler and dog in tow and had a great time! The house has been really tastefully renovated and furnished, and the open plan layout made it perfect for hanging out during some super hot days. The porch was perfect for outside dinners and relaxing, enjoying the beautiful view. We recommend taking advantage of the trail out the back and doing some birdwatching by the pond. The house has everything you need for a week away. It’s also in a great location for exploring the Catskills - whether the nearby towns or many hiking options nearby. Jaime was also really responsive to any questions we had. Highly recommend!

    Danielle2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house was exactly what we needed and the hosts were very attentive and responsive.

  • The farmhouse exceeded our expectations! I planned a weekend birthday getaway for my husband and we couldn't have been happier staying there. It was clean, and very comfortable, especially the sleeping environment. Excellent quality of mattress and sheets. The house was cozy and clutter-free which made it relaxing and without distractions. the house is also located on open forested area with a lake in the back that you can just walk to. Jamie was an excellent communicator and all the instructions he sent over were clear. The area where the farmhouse is located is within perfect proximity to some gorgeous trails like West Trapps and Coxing in the Mohank Preserve. Also, close to some great food options like, The Eggnest, Butterfield and Tuthill House. We would definitely come back the next chance we get! Thanks for letting us stay there!

  • Wonderful, comfortable home with everything you need and nothing you don’t. Short drives from a number of cool areas. Loved being there for a week, and Jamie (property manager) was very helpful wth anything we needed. Highly recommend!

  • We had unfortunate icy rain all weekend, but it was a very pleasant stay. Pretty kid friendly too. Very comfortable rooms and conveniently close to New Paltz and Gunks activities. Will have to come back when the weather is nicer!

  • Jackie’s place was AMAZING! it was extra clean, comfy, and really cute. I was there with my boyfriend and two friends, and we all had a blast! It definately exceeded our expectations! Location was great, not far from the town of New Paltz, and we were able to explore the beautiful Awosting Falls. Definately recommend staying here... you won’t regret it!

This private space looks out over luscious green, guests are welcome to use the first floor but have their own amenities two staircases up. (The house has 5 private spaces all named after local trees.) A short walk from the rail trail, parking is available in the lot directly across the street but please park neatly so that everyone can fit. For loading/unloading feel free to use the driveway next to the house. Built in 1889, family renovated since 1997, on AirBnB in July 2018.
Gas fireplace, air conditioning, three shower heads, fresh linens, birdsongs, close to New Paltz, Rosendale, Kingston, and the Shawangunks.
Adjacent to the old cement factory and mines, this house is walking distance from the town of Rosendale where the original residents would visit saloons and shops.
  • Our online interactions with Hana were lovely - she was communicative, enthusiastic and quick to answer. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to cross paths in person, but self-check in and check-out was seamless. The accommodations on the top (private) floor were simple and basic, but suited our needs perfectly - a two night writing retreat for myself and my partner. The AC on the top floor was greatly appreciated. The house is a slightly longer than expected, but nonetheless lovely, walk from the Trailways Bus Stop. We would definitely stay again the next time we need to clear out of NYC for some headspace to write and be in nature. Thanks, Hana!

    Shawn2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Hana's place is in an awesome location in Rosendale. (I personally couldn't love Rosendale more - charm is off the charts. ) . The place was quiet and clean, and nice and cool with a powerful AC unit on an otherwise VERY hot weekend. Hana was exceedingly response to my questions, and check in and out was a breeze. There is a shared space downstairs which is a nice perk, though amenities are also good on the top floor which is entirely private. Would stay again : )

    Elizabeth2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Hana was super responsive and provided me a last minute lodging request. I actually had the place to myself, likely because it was a Sunday night, and the place was charming, comfortable and had everything I needed.

Our home, built in 1830, has all the charm of that era with the added bonus of modern amenities. Situated on 6 private acres across the road from historic Rondout Creek, we have easy access to everything Hudson Valley has to offer. Your own private entrance leads you to your second floor bedroom and bath which are newly painted and decorated. The bedroom and desk area overlook the creek. This is a perfect location for a quick getaway from NYC.
Your room, bath and work area are located on the 2nd floor of our home. They are sectioned off from the rest of the house and will feel like your own little apartment. The entire space was newly painted and is furnished with antiques and comfortable furniture. New, soft and inviting bedding are part of your room. A sitting area to enjoy a book is located by a french window and a desk area overlooking the creek is situated just outside of your bedroom. The bathroom is updated with a combination wide bath/shower, luxurious Turkish towels and is bright with lots of natural light. The second bedroom is a bit smaller and located on the same floor. We automatically make this room available if there are more than two in your group. If you would like use of the second bedroom and there are two or fewer in your party there is a nominal fee of $20 night. 70% of our guests do not require the second room and this arrangement helps us keep costs down for them. You will enjoy the privacy of a separate entrance and your own space but will still have access to the back meadow for picnics, star gazing and use of our fire pit.
It's a cute old historic road and we are situated on 6 Acres across the road from Rondout Creek. This is where two miles of flat water on the creek begins. You can launch your water device or our canoe a mile up the road.
  • Amanda and Sonny have a beautiful and peaceful place. They were very accommodating and have thought of everything to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. A very quiet place and we highly recommend it!

  • Sonny and Amanda have a lovely home. It's peaceful and surrounded by acres of beautiful land. They were easy to communicate with and made sure we had everything we need to make our stay comfortable.

    Tatiana2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sonny and Amanda's place is adorable, their back yard is majestic, and their front yard is a river. This is quaint upstate for sure. I was there with my two best friends for a quick reunion, and it was magical to have a cup of coffee and walk through the tall grass and forest in their backyard. We sat on the porch with the sun glistening off the river ... ah! The beds were so cozy -- I cannot say enough good things about this place, for such a good value. Thanks again S & A!

  • The cottage was quiet, private and had everything I needed for a few days of rest and hiking. It was hot and humid out but the little A/C kept the place very comfortable. I appreciated being able to bring my dog. Autumn was responsive to my questions and the location was great for getting into town and to Mohonk Preserve.

  • It is a cute little cottage that’s close to the rail trail and within walking distance of town. It’s got it’s own private drive and is separate from the main house so I didn’t have to worry about disturbing anyone when I came in late. Autumn and Saul and their cute dog were great hosts.

  • Brendan's studio was perfect! It's spacious, it's clean, and it's centrally located. However, it's also secluded and feels like your own private oasis. I thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay and wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

    Alevtina2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very pleasant studio in a convenient location. Brendan was always quick to reply with text, and left us to our own devices otherwise. Would stay there again next time I'm in the area.

    Rebecca2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Location was amazing, wooded location and short walk to downtown.

    Daniel2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really sweet and as described. Right near great hiking, restaurants and shops.

    Joe2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place was perfect!

    Claudine2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Brendan's home was very nice. The street was beautiful, and just a ten minute walk to Main Street in New Paltz. However, if you plan to stay go with four people total, we had issues with the air mattress provided, which kept deflating. There were beautiful, slanted, floor-to-ceiling windows, but no blinds. Aside from these minor comments, we had a lovely time at the house and found it nicely designed and very pleasant.

    Zoe2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb was ok. The host, Brendan, was very responsive with organizing arrival and parking. That was appreciated. The studio itself, while fine, was not quite as nice as advertised. It did the job (hosting our couple day get away), but had its issues. The studio floor and bathroom were a bit dirty on our arrival. The studio also seems to double as a quasi-storage unit for the host's belongings. While not an issue, it was awkward that all of the closets with his things had no doors, etc. In general, the studio seemed to be in the construction phase. There were no curtains to protect light from waking us up at dawn. Privacy was a bit of an issue, with big windows looking directly onto the host's porch (again, highlighted by the lack of curtains). We would likely not stay again.

    Chris2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our host was super responsive, so reservations, checking in, and check out was smooth. We had a whole studio apartment to ourselves on Brendan's property. The property is about a 15-20 minute walk to town thru a historic area that is really interesting. Safe location. The place looked as pictured. The only thing I would mention is that the bed is full-size, versus Queen, so it was a bit tight for two adults (including my 6 foot 1 inch husband).

This historic Revolutionary War-era cottage features a beautiful local stone fireplace, a comfortable great room, a full kitchen and sun room downstairs. Upstairs there is an airy bedroom with a full bed and closet. The second bedroom can be used as a reading room or bedroom depending on the number of guests. The bathroom is fully remodeled and features a walk in shower. The cottage sits next to a beautiful creek and overlooks the Esopus River Valley with views of the Catskills Mountains.
Please note: Potts Cottage, named for our maternal grandmother, is 700 square feet total. The ceilings are low (people in the 1700s were shorter than those of us in the 21st century!) so folks who are more than six feet tall will need to watch their crowns! There are stairs to the upstairs with a sturdy handrail, but please note you must use stairs to get to the bathroom. The cottage is best-suited for a couple, but we can accommodate up to five guests with a sleeper sofa in the great room.
The cottage is near other neighbors across the road so do be respectful of them. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • This cottage is adorable and perfect for a trip upstate. We brought our large dog and he loved playing in the yard. The cottage is clean and has everything that you might need. It is very cozy and cutely decorated, as well! We would definitely come back here.

    Stephanie2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fara's stone house is such a beautiful and romantic spot. She did an amazing job renovating this historical house, that even has a engraved stone in the floor dating back to the mid 1800s. She balanced the original house with modern amenities very tastefully. Fara was very responsive during our stay and made sure, we have everything we need. It was a rainy time, but the house is so cozy, that we didn't mind.

    Sylvia2018-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The stone cottage is beautiful and overflowing with history. The memory stones on the floor are amazing - a real sense of the centuries that people have lived in this place.

    Simon2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is incredibly charming and nestled in a beautiful area in upstate NY. It was a wonderfully relaxing stay and I would love to go back!

    Shannon2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing experience at Fara’s beautiful, historic home in stone ridge. The home is incredible. As a huge fan of historic homes, this is one of the best and well preserved I’ve stayed in. The house is easy to get to, near town but also has space. The view is also much more than in the photos. It’s on a cliff, and it looks over acres of woods. Gorgeous home, such amazing character. They have an engraving in the stone next to the fireplace from the 1800’s which was amazing to see. Great place for memories, stories and to be in the woods. Will be back when the snow comes.

    William2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • A really sweet cottage with beautiful old stone floors and berber rugs. Comfortable couch and beds. The kitchen is very cute and well equipped. Very private setting next to a stream. Perfect for 2 to 4 guests. Extremely well-cared for and inviting with very nice touches throughout. We would highly recommend Fara and her place to other AirBnB guests!

    Kim2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is absolutely adorable and impeccably well maintained. The space was clean and inviting. Fara is a great host. A couple of tips for travelers: 1) Don't bring your dog to the Asharoken Reservoir. You will be ticketed if caught. 2) Stop for groceries/staples before you arrive as the nearest market is a bit of a drive and is not open late. 3) We stayed during the heat wave. There is no air conditioning. It isn't too bad on the main floor but the second floor (bedrooms and bathroom located) are ridiculously hot. Again, we were there during a heat wave.

    Rosemary2018-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This little place is great! The location is nice and secluded but close enough to town. The description online is accurate, the ceilings are a little low, but I’m 5’3 and was expecting it since it was explained in the post. We welcome travelers from everywhere to enjoy the beautiful Hudson Valley while staying in a traditional Dutch stone house. Guest lodging is an 800-square ft. private apartment that was the former summer kitchen. Owners live on premises.
Welcome! Our accommodation is an 800 square-foot studio which is the former summer kitchen of this 18th-Century house. There is one well-appointed queen-sized bed. The furnishings are stylish and comfortable. Radiant heat is embedded in the floor throughout the apartment. It is wonderful to have warm toasty feet but it doesn't make the room stuffy. It's especially nice when stepping out of the shower. There is a full kitchen with pots/pans and dishes so that you can cook if you wish to. The full-sized refrigerator has an automatic ice maker. An outdoor grill is also available. The large bathroom is comfortable and ventilated. The property has wide-open outdoor spaces on which you are welcome to relax, play lawn games, dine outside with plenty of lawn furniture to use. We own property on both sides of the road -- one side sits at the top of the waterfall where you can explore, swim, or kayak. Across the road our property is located on the O & W Rail Trail along the Delaware & Hudson Canal Heritage Corridor. This is available for mountain biking, walking, equestrian and winter sports. Also across the street is our restored 19th-Century barn and there are beautiful and quiet places to relax by a stream. We are within walking distance to the hamlet of High Falls. There are restaurants, great shops and antique stores. The High Falls Flea Market is popular on Sundays during warm weather.
The High Falls Food Coop is adjacent to our property. They have delicious to-go food for breakfast, lunch, and groceries. It is reasonably priced!
  • Clean, cozy, central location for exploring Mohunk Preserve and Shawangunk mountains! Great dining options nearby and not far from New Paltz and Kingston.

  • We had a great time at Shadow Lawn; the space is perfectly appointed and Dan / David were very hospitable. Highly recommended!

    John2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Host gracious and accommodating! Location perfect for access to mohonk and new paltz . Interior design was 5 star from bedding to decor. Outside shower was a big bonus! Relaxing on lawn by waterfall overlook plus.

    Anne Marie2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is absolutely stunning. David has done something amazing: he created a space that is cozy, comfortable and very stylish that offers modern amenities while maintaining the historical, antique qualities of the home. And David's desire to accommodate during our stay was amazing, he knew the right amount of attention we wanted. To not stay here would be to miss out.

    Cory2016-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We were blown away! I just quickly picked a spot that looked nice, but when I got there, and got introduced to the beautiful lawn and little orchard, and the house's location at the top of the falls, it took things to the next level. And the place is beautiful inside, all the details are cozy and perfect. Great time!

    caledonia2016-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • David and Dan are terrific hosts, with a beautiful home and pristine property. A couple could be very happy staying just within the confines of the property for a weekend, but the surrounding area also has much to offer, which the hosts can knowledgeably suggest. It is the perfect weekend retreat, although as soon as you arrive you'll likely wish you were staying a week.

    James2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful long weekend at Shadow Lawn! The studio apartment is so comfortable and relaxing - perfect for our weekend away for some seclusion and relaxation. I can't say enough good things about the outdoor shower/hot tub area! It was lovely to sit in the yard on the many chairs and swings, read, enjoy a cup of coffee and just be. We explored nearby creeks and woods in the High Falls area. David and Dan were incredibly responsive to all of our needs (though we weren't able to get to meet them this weekend - we did meet their wonderful neighbors who were so helpful in getting us acquainted with the area). We were well taken care of and really loved being at Shadow Lawn for a few days. We'll definitely be back!

    Rachel2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect at David and Dan's beautiful 1700's stone house. The setting was everything we wanted, peaceful and tranquil and within short driving distance to restaurants and sightseeing. Service was impeccable with a wonderful welcome and cocktail from Dan when we arrived. The suite was beautifully presented and same with nice touches like water, coffee, toiletries etc. Dan was also great in suggesting local restaurants and things to do. We'll definitely be back!

We also made it out to Minnewaska State park an completed Gertrude's nose (recommend taking snacks and water next time!). A lovely place to get out of the city.

  • Wonderful peaceful spot. Standalone barn guest house with great style and a kitchen and great loft bedroom. Feels like you’re in the country, but can also walk to great restaurants and fun shopping. Amazing food and breweries and hiking nearby.

  • We enjoyed our weekend stay at the barn. It was well-located--a quick drive to a few lovely restaurants and just across the street from the local co-op. Spacious, stylish, and comfortable!

    Courtney2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Zarin is a wonderful host and simply the best! She was able to accommodate our last-minute booking and was super responsive throughout our stay. Her place in High Falls is the perfect getaway spot. Comfortable, stylish, and conveniently located--close to great hikes, trails, swimming holes, shops, and restaurants. We appreciated being able to walk to the co-op across the street. The kitchen was well-stocked and had everything we needed (literally everything, including a can opener)! We liked it so much we extended our stay!

    Angela2018-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • The space is cute and exactly as it appears on the pictures. Sadly the downstairs smells strongly of mold. Also there are no screens on several of the window (or any of the window upstairs). As a result the upstairs gets very hot in the summer and your only option to cool it down is a/c which doesn't work very well.

    J. Miakoda2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the barn, and as very private travelers, especially enjoyed that there was a keycode entry system with no need for handoff of keys. Zarin reached out the day before to touch base and left us notes on where to eat in the area, and a bottle of wine! The temperature wasn't entirely regulated (cold downstairs, hot in the loft), but there were space heaters and a fan to even things out and keep us comfortable. We live in a historic property, and weren't surprised; mentioning this isn't a complaint on my end, but I want to point it out as very sensitive guests might be less easygoing. All in all, we had a great stay for about 1/3rd the price of the local b&bs. Easy access to Kingston and New Paltz. VERY comfortable mattress and pillows. We will definitely return!

    Ashley2018-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • I took a trip to Zarin’s with two friends for a long weekend. We loved it! The area is great, with good hiking and cute small towns to explore within 15-20 min of driving. We also really enjoyed the waterfall swimming hole just a 5-10 min walk down the road. It’s a great value for the area, too!

    Rebecca2018-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Zarin's place was perfect for a quick weekend away from the city. She was incredible quick to respond to my last minute request to book, and remained responsive throughout my stay. Check-in was incredibly easy and flexible, and there was a thoughtful bottle of wine waiting on the table when I arrived. The place had everything I needed included a kitchen stocked with all the necessary tools to cook the food I brought with me, and Zarin left some helpful tips for things to do and places to eat. The area was also beautiful and I would definitely consider coming back here for another weekend getaway.

Nestled in the Stone Ridge Historic District within walking distance to bakery, library, stores and restaurants, this apartment has a rear entrance from the back parking lot or a separate front entrance tucked to the side on Main Street. This is the downstairs apartment with private bath, 1 bedroom with full size bed, a living room with sofa bed and dining room with access to porch and kitchenette with entryway closet. The home is right on the main road so you will hear traffic going by.
Comforting space with full size bed in the private bedroom, private bathroom, kitchenette and sleeper sofa in the living room. Five rooms total. Host is available to you, if necessary, in neighboring apartment/office space. Please be aware that, though the apartment is your private space, the rest of the building is shared and on a main road so you will hear footsteps, washing machine, road noise, etc.
The historic hamlet of Stone Ridge has a population of about 2,000 people. Stone Ridge's Main Street is Route 209, and you'll find stone structures and gorgeous farmhouses, many built in the 18th and 19th centuries, along your drive through town. Route 209 runs north to Kingston (about a 20 minute drive) and South to Ellenville (about 25 minutes), and it also intersects with Route 213 right in the center of town. Stone Ridge is just 20 minutes to exit 18 on the Route 87 thruway. The hamlet, which is part of the larger town of Marbletown, is in the Hudson Valley, with lots of farmland and orchards nearby (check out Stone Ridge Orchard in the fall for pick your own apples), but the Catskills, the Ashokan Reservoir, and the Shawangunks are just a few minutes away. The car-traffic-free Marbletown C & O Rail Trail and Wallkill Valley Rail Trail both intersect with Route 213, just a few minutes from Main Street, and are popular with families, cyclists, and dog walkers. Locals shop on route 209 at Emmanuel's Market for groceries and household basics, and the local farmstand Davenport Farms offers the best local produce, meats, baked goods. There's also the locally owned Marbletown Hardware (the World's Only Rock and Roll Hardware Store, complete with mini museum) right in town. The Marbletown Community Center is located in Stone Ridge and offers adult exercise classes, camps and activities for kids, and hosts many community meetings. The last few years have seen the introduction of several new restaurants to Stone Ridge as well as the continued flourishing of old favorites. The Hasbrouck House, built in 1757, was recently reopened as a luxury inn and dining destination with its restaurant Butterfield. Asia serves contemporary pan-Asian food while Momiji offers sushi and a Japanese grill. Lekker is a new spot that serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch all day, and The Roost is a consistent favorite that does lunch and dinner.
  • Everything was perfect and easy and a really nice place - the best part for me what Deborah's great advise for the area, what to do and see. The house itself is very tastefully done, simple and elegant.

    Colleen2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah is an excellent host. She is extremely communicative and accommodating. The apartment is huge (I actually kept getting lost in it, in part because the layout is a little odd), clean, and comfortable, with nice amenities. The Nest thermostat is a really nice modern touch and makes it easy to stay warm in the winter. The wi-fi is very fast. There is ample parking. There are some pine cones in the living room that have an overbearing cinnamon smell, but they're easy enough to hide in a room that you don't use (there are a lot of rooms). The TV settings are not calibrated properly so you get the "soap opera effect" but that's fine. The location is nice - central but in a sleepy town so you can still feel quite secluded if you like. We like that the Roost is a few doors down because they have a great brunch. The only real issue with the apartment (and the reason I give this place 4 stars rather than 5) is that it's on the first floor with another unit directly above it and, because of the building's construction, you can hear EVERY footstep upstairs as if there's someone in the apartment with you. I don't know if it's another rental unit or if it's the building owner's apartment, but every time someone upstairs take a step, you hear it. In fact I think there is some amplification going on because it sounds like stomping and running (in clogs) when in fact I'm sure they're just walking around normally. Some joist tape or event a carpet might help soundproof a bit. I normally wouldn't go on for a whole paragraph about this (I've lived in NYC for 15 years and am used to sleeping through police sirens, garbage trucks, drunken street yelling, etc.) but if you are a light sleeper, this will almost certainly be an issue for you. If you're not, this is a 5-star apartment and an unreserved recommendation.

  • Wonderful apartment. Very comfortable and great location. I will be back!

    Carrie2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Idyllic location in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Beautiful gardens, comfy and well appointed home. Great place to stay!

    Sandi2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah was an excellent host! She made arrival very easy and quickly responded to text messages. The apartment was pristine and inviting with a comfortable amount of space for me and my kids. When we arrived the air conditioning was on at a perfect temperature (on a very hot day!) and the apartment was lit for relaxation. It's a perfect, convenient location for enjoying Stone Ridge and nearby towns (High Falls, Accord, Rosendale, Kingston, New Paltz, etc.) and all the natural beauty and outdoor experiences abundant in the Hudson Valley. We happened to meet Deborah in person and enjoyed a chat and a visit with her adorable dog. She was very gracious and open to providing any information needed during our visit. We would've stayed longer if we could've!

    Heather2016-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah and her pup were more than welcoming. She was inviting, welcoming, and her dog is just the friendliest dog. They're both amazing.

  • This house was very sweet and clean and comfortable. Thank you.

    Leidy2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Out of all the Airbnb locations I have been to, this was my very favorite. Clean and very cozy place to stay the night. Debra went above and beyond with the slight touches to make the stay extra enjoyable

Spend the night in our one bedroom hideaway. The private suite is tucked away on one end of our brick cottage on one of Kingston's prettiest streets. Enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon wine in your own little nook in our yard, nestled between trees. We are located within walking distance of Kingston’s historic uptown district, delicious restaurants & cafes, music venues, and the Farmer’s Market. We are also walking distance from the Trailway's bus stop.
Our guesthouse is the perfect retreat to take in all that the Hudson Valley has to offer. Your suite is separate from our main house, so you'll have complete privacy.
We live on a quiet and charming street in Uptown. Some say it's the prettiest street in Kingston! The vibe is very country getaway yet we're so close to the historic stone buildings that predate the Revolutionary war.
  • Rachel’s home is exactly what Air BnB was designed to be: connection with a gracious local host in a charming setting that allows you to enjoy yourself and your environs more than you ever could at a hotel. The place is sweetly decorated and they have obviously put much thought into how to create a pleasant stay for guests and travelers. The location is great - quiet enough to enjoy a good night’s sleep and a relaxing drink on the outside chairs, but still very close to a cute walking downtown with many amenities. Beyond that, they went out of their way to be welcoming, warm, and generous to us as we traveled with our young son. Highly recommend.

    Annie2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a very nice stay at Rachel's place. We would stay there again and recommend it highly.

    EllenMary2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and great host. A short walk to uptown!

    Kristofer2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel's place was comfortable and cozy as described. It's a private section in a larger house with a separate entrance. Kingston is a nice place to stay if you want to explore the area, because the town is close and there's lots of food and activities near by. There were cookies on the bed when we arrived, which was sweet. It's a sweet place to spend a few nights.

    Zeynep2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel's space was just what I was looking for! It was relaxing, private and within walking distance to almost everything that Kingston has to offer. Highly recommend.

    Brian2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel's place was perfect for a weekend in Kingston! Rachel was an excellent communicator and was very helpful when I had questions. Highly recommend staying here!

    Yael2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fairly new place, but for people who have been doing this for only a few months they are on top of everything! The space feels very private and there is a little place to sit outside that is secluded. I forgot to let them know we were on the way and texted a little late but they were gracious and everything was set up just to go right in! Lights were on an there was cold water in the fridge, cookies and peaches from the CSA, and a little pot for coffee or tea! Brian was working in the garden and has great plans for the property. The veggie garden is impressive for a first year planting and what is a great place to stay can only get better! I travel to see friends in Kingston quite regularly and this is my first choice as a place to stay!

    Esther2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel & Brian's space is amazing! It was one the coziest, most beautiful and inviting air-bnbs we've stayed in ...and yes, the vibes were totally chill. Rachel and Brian were super kind and greeted us upon arrival. Rachel sent us a totally cute and helpful pdf of information on our stay and things to do in the area (there's also a printed version of this in the room). The room was beautifully put together, light filled and so peaceful. It was the best sleep we got on our 10 day road trip from Alabama through the Hudson Valley. There was a sweet post card and some cookies waiting for us when we arrived and berries in the fridge. Their yard was beautiful and we wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy wine in the outdoor area by our room. We were able to walk through the neighborhood to Uptown Kingston where we had good food and coffee and bought good records at Rhino. We highly recommend breakfast at Outdated Cafe and we highly recommend staying with Rachel & Brian when visiting Kingston!

Welcome to our cozy, modern 1 bedroom cottage. The house is clean and airy with vaulted ceilings in the main room and large windows looking out over the rock ledge and yard in back. Great for visitors to the area who want some peace and privacy but also the ability to walk to town, Trailways bus stop, and the rail trail. **Women's Studio Workshop discount! **We may be able to accommodate a 1-night rental, especially if it is close to your desired arrival date. Please Inquire!
*This is a comfortable retreat for a single or couple, but it could work for a person with a child or a close friend who doesn't mind sleeping on the small pull out couch in the living room. *There is no TV in the house, but there is solid, high-speed wireless internet.
Rosendale is a small, cool town with a charming, low key Main Street full of independent businesses and creative spirit. 6 uniquely different restaurants right in town, a bakery, a great bookstore and library, farmer's market, single screen first run indy movie theater, an apothecary, and other shops (see guidebooks for more details). Our house is just outside the village, but walking distance to town. Good for a car-free weekend too! If you like, the bicycle rental shop directly next door to the bus stop on rt 32 could enable you to ride to Kingston (8 miles) or New Paltz (7 miles) along the rail trail, past abandoned mines and a trailside cafe, over the trestle and through the woods. Rosendale is an outstanding home base for area excursions - near the "Gunks" and Mohonk Mountain preserve for hiking/climbing and central to New Paltz, Kingston, High Falls, Stone Ridge and other local towns and activities.
  • Absolutely wonderful little place and wonderful area. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was amazingly decorated, and it was perfect for my husband and me. Emily was fantastic about quickly responding to our questions and making sure that everything went as hoped. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

    Devon2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Emily's cottage was just what we needed for a fun and romantic night away. The house is well-equipped and located just a short walk from Rosendale "business district". We were able to walk into town for a delicious dinner and enjoy an beautiful sunset on the the Railroad trestle.

    Jeanie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Emily is the perfect Airbnb host. She went above and beyond, and dropped everything to help us out when we had some troubles. She was so friendly and nice to deal with. The house was just adorable, it was the perfect balance between being homely and cosy; yet feeling like we were in a holiday unit. It had all the amenities we needed, including great coffee! The bed was very comfortable, the WiFi was awesome and we loved the out door furniture. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again if we ever made it back over that side of the world. Thanks again Emily, we loved our stay.

    Siobhan2018-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Emily's place was fantastic. We live in Switzerland and come 2x per year to visit my father in Rosendale. We previously rented hotel rooms that were as much as 2-3x more expensive. She has a fantastic spot with a nice kitchen to prepare breakfast etc. Her little house was super homey and cozy. Very clean as well. She is super quick to respond when you have any questions. Needless to say, we will be back soon. Auf wiedersehen! Thanks/ Liebe Grüsse Drew & Jess Schelker

    Drew2018-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in the little green house. Our daughters are already asking when we can return. It was clear that much care went into making the home a cozy and clean oasis.

    David2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Emily's place was fantastic, great location and cozy in every way for us with our twin babies

    Annette2017-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place and a great location for taking in many of the area’s sightseeing opportunities.

    Maria2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This little green cottage is an absolutely gem that hits all the right notes for us. Quiet, convenient, cozy, easy, affordable, close to many adventures, thoughtfully decorated, and all the things you could need or want are at arms reach. Great kitchen for dinner for two. Big open space, lots of light...the softest bed I’ve ever slept in. A constellation quilt! A beautiful restored record player that also has a Bluetooth hookup! And Emily was super super easy to contact and had wonderful tips for adventure to boot. Also, the collection of books in the place were great. Highlights include Good Clean Fun by Nick Offerman and A History of the World in 500 walks. Really, enough can’t be said. This is hands down my favorite AirBnb.

A short walk from the rail trail, parking is available in the lot directly across the street but please park neatly so that everyone can fit. For loading/unloading feel free to use the driveway next to the house. Built in 1889, family renovated since 1997, on AirBnB in July 2018. I live in the finished basement, available to respond but I keep to myself. Make yourselves at home!
Simple room, fresh linens, birdsongs, close to New Paltz, Rosendale, Kingston, and the Shawangunks.
Adjacent to the old cement factory and mines, this house is walking distance from the town of Rosendale where the original residents would visit saloons and shops.
  • We never met Hana but in her messages she sounds very kind. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean, the kitchen could have been better. We loved the quietness around the house and had a good night sleep. We would definitely recommend to stay over.

    Stefanie2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sassafrass room was just lovely and perfect for our travels. The home is beautiful. We loved our stay and Hana is a wonderful hostess making you feel comfortable and welcome during your trip.

    Ginamarie2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Hana’s place was cute and simple. Just what I needed for my short stay. She was very responsive and I loved the location .

    Stephanie2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Place is in a lovely sleepy town. The room is clean and spacious. Don’t trust the fan in the heat of summer; It gets hot.

    Rokk-Vincelli2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Even though we didn't see Hana during our one night stay, she has been very responsive and sweet in her communication. We could feel that she does really care about her guests. The house is pretty easy to access, with all basic amenities included. The rooms and common areas were spot clean. There is parking right in front of the house which is very convenient if you have many things to unload from your car. In overall, that was a pleasant stay and special mention for Hana who has been a very great and caring host.

Historic 1865 house originally a blacksmith shop on the D&H Canal in the picturesque hamlet of High Falls. A cozy, year round retreat, one block from the rushing Rondout river. A short walk to gorgeous hiking/cross country skiing trails and popular restaurants.
This special little bungalow has been a creative haven for my musical pursuits and offers a great place to recharge and cultivate new ideas. Located in the heart of "Downtown" High Falls so you get a little bit of social interaction while still nestled away in Ulster County. There's quick access to unique and friendly restaurants while hiking, x country skiing and swimming are also just moments away.
A quiet village nestled at the foot of Mohonk Mountain where the Catskills meet "The Gunks". Come explore for hiking, cross country skiing, climbing or just spend some time nestled away in solitude reading or binge movie watching!

Within walking distance to two places to eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner. It was very clean and had all the amenities we could ever need! I would definitely recommend staying here and we hope we visit them again sometime soon!

  • The Blacksmith's Bungalow is a warm and welcoming place to stay. Frank and Adie are very accommodating hosts and were sure to let us know everything we needed to know about the house. We were in the area to visit the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary which is only about 3 miles away. If you're coming to the area - consider the Blacksmith's bungalow!

Private room with one double bed & large couch. Home has lots of character on a sustainable farm adjacent to the Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska. Bedroom on the second floor. Bathroom on second floor. Shower on the first floor.
This is an old stone farm house with wood heat. It is very comfortable & very clean. The house has old world character & charm. The guest space has it's own heater. We have ethernet cable internet connection but no wifi.
This is a rural neighborhood about 8 miles from the college town of New Paltz. Our farm is adjacent to the Mohonk Preserve. It is very easy access to their hiking trails. We are 3 miles to the nearest store which is a health food coop. There are antique shops & a flea market in High Falls, which is 3 miles away. The Old Stone Farm House is on a 38 acre sustainable organic farm.
  • Toby's place is just as it looks in the pictures--charming, rustic, and very well located. She's near a bunch of small, cute towns with yummy restaurants, but also near some great hiking trails (which we really enjoyed walking on with our dog). Her property is beautiful, and the room faces a particularly picturesque part of her land--a lovely view of water. Toby was the ultimate hostess, cooking us breakfast with eggs laid by her own hens, and offering us plenty of delicious tea. I would highly recommend a stay with Toby if you're looking for a country getaway that isn't too far from the city!

    Christine2018-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • If you have a chance to stay at Toby's home, stay here!! It is beautiful, charming, and a wonderful experience. She has a sweet dog, cute cat, a bird, and not sure what else. We got there the evening before thanksgiving on a last minute (spontaneous) trip to nyc. She was such a gracious host, we would have loved to stay longer. She allowed us to bring our 2 dogs and they played all night with her dog, it was a lot of fun watching them. I'm not sure how everything is in the daylight because we got there in the dark and left before the sun came out, but what we saw and experienced gave me an impression that during the daytime it is 10x more charming. Toby also woke up early and made us breakfast, tea, and coffee!! She provided us with a perfect vegan meal to start our NYC adventure. Thanks Toby!!! We had a blast with you and Kahla.

    Jess2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Toby is an exceptional woman who is providing such a sacred space for her guests! I don’t know if it’s mentioned anywhere, but it’s an off-the-grid Home, which we loved! We enjoy the disconnection from WiFi and the out of town feel. We also loved the old farm house and it’s large, beautiful property with chickens, gardens and old barns. Toby set the rental room up so nice with the extra touch of filtered water flavored with essential oils. :) the shared bathroom is right next to the room and the ecclectic house boasts tons of culture from her travels. We also LOVED the breakfast she provided, what a special thing to wake up to. Only 15 min to New Paltz main street and surrounded by hundreds of hiking trails! It’s a no-Brainer for a home base while visiting this lovely, friendly town.

    Gina2018-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Toby's place looks charming and cozy in the listing, but I was blown away upon arrival. It really is out of a storybook. The perfect upstate getaway. I was in and out more quickly than I would have liked, because I was on a business trip, but I definitely plan to return next time I'm in the area.

    Stephanie2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Me and a friend had a very quick stay here, and our check in time got pushed back pretty late but Toby was very helpful and flexible and it all worked out!

    Ericka2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a rustic and homey place, on a working farm. The area is beautiful, and very quiet. Toby is a friendly and accommodating host.

    Madeline2018-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Toby is a wonderful host and her home is cozy and comfortable. It's a real nature experience typical of the beautiful Hudson Valley. The old stone farmhouse is close to a brook and swamp, so anyone with mold sensitivities should be careful.

    Christiane2018-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Toby's place is the beautiful country retreat dreams are made of. Great cafes, yoga, and hiking are closeby. Toby herself is very warm and inviting, and went out of her way to provide me with a happy and memorable stay. I highly recommend booking with Toby if you're looking for a lovely experience in the Hudson Valley!

This is a very special place for a select few. Those who can appreciate the following. Only inquire if you like : quiet, space, nature, fresh air and a cozy intimate space. This space is not for everyone but those who visit reflect the very special charm of the space. If you are seeking to party then bypass this listing. If you are seeking peace we welcome you.
Super clean and comfortable private studio apartment on the border of Mohonk Preserve.
Place is located at Mohonk Mt, walking distance to trails. Very close to Mohonk Mountain house ( 2 min to Entrance ), 5 min driving to downtown New Paltz. Another word great location. Quiet and safe neighborhood.
  • This apartment is very cute and stylish. I loved the location close to both downtown New Paltz and the Mohonk Reserve and Minnewaska State Park. However, it’s definitely a little smaller than it looks in the pictures.

    Teresa2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome – my girlfriend and I enjoyed it so much. The place is small but very comfortable, very clean and has everything you need to feel at home. Great location – close enough to town and on a very quiet street with barely any traffic. Arek is a very helpful and hospitable host – we will definitely stay here again!

    Jeffrey2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for a little getaway in New Paltz. It's super close to the main part of town (and surrounding hotspots in Ulster Country like Woodstock and Kingston), however if you're looking to be a little bit more remote, surrounded by nature and close to so many hiking trails, this is the spot for you! The space is very well-appointed with all kinds of cute little touches. We were impressed with the design and decor. Sleeping with the windows open affords you to fall asleep to the sounds of nature in the summertime. If AC is a must for you, you'd probably be better off staying here when it's not the heart of the summer (we were there during a heat wave, but typically New Paltz gets down below 70 at night). Otherwise the fans + windows should suffice! Cute little porch area that I wish we had time to take advantage of so that we could admire all the sights and sounds of the verdant mountainside. Thank you, Arek for being such a gracious host!

    Joi2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I live in New Paltz. We stayed in Arek's studio apartment while our apartment was being gutted due to a flood. We could not have asked for a more perfect, relaxing space after staying in multiple terrible hotels for a week (New Paltz in the summer, everything was booked). The place is beautifully decorated, fitted with high end fixtures, and impeccably clean. Arek renovated the place himself, which you can tell he takes pride in, when you see the acute attention to detail (he was happy to show us how everything worked when we asked). Only 6 minutes from downtown, but still feeling like a secluded mountain retreat on ~3 private acres, Arek's place is in a perfect location for someone looking to enjoy the town and all of the outdoor activities in the area, but return to a quiet relaxing space. Arek was a perfect host! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway while being super close to everything New Paltz and the surrounding area has to offer.

    Maeghan2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This studio was PERFECT for our weekend in New Paltz. It was just what we needed for a weekend away . It is super close to everything: downtown main street, mohonk mountain, hiking trails and more. The space is brand new, and beautiful designed. Everything was very clean and Arek provided all the right touches to make us feel at home for the weekend (coffee, fruit, energy bars, sparkling water, etc). We would definitely come back!

    Jaime2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the tiny house was wonderful. It was very relaxing, the area is quiet and close to nature. The house is very comfortable, clean and of very good taste. Arek is a great host! He was very responsive and gave us great tips. We'll be coming back for sure!

    IMarina2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • I am hesitant to wright this review because I want the place available for me. Yes this place is small, though it is beautiful. It is out of the way yet not far from New Platz to hang in town. It is just a walk away from some amazing trails around Mohonk and a short drive to the Gunks for climbing. This is my new place to stay when we visit the area. The place was clean, detailed and just enough space not to be overwhelming. Arek is now one of the best host I have stayed with in my 6 years of Airbnb. If you are looking for a place in this are come and stay in one of the two apt's in the house. Though just leave room for me to come back.

    Christopher2018-07-08T00:00:00Z

We had a great weekend stay here! The town was small but cute, the trestle was very very close and awesome! The apartment was perfect for the 2 of us and our pup. Gretchen was available to answer any questions we had. Great experience, thanks again!

John was very communicative and helpful leaving instructions and keys for arrival time. The neighborhood is charming the apartment is truly at the heart of Rosendale - a 200 foot stroll to all the best restaurants and shops and right across the street from the Rondout River. There are drinks/food and river views from the deck at the 1850 House and the Bywater Bistro and lots of great restaurants and shops nearby. The apartment is even more charming than the pictures - with views of Main Street and the Garden House restaurant next door and witty, welcoming touches like a chalk board with a friendly message and a selection of teas on the counter in the full kitchen. This place is truly Rosendale Chic and if you want to enjoy the best of what Rosendale has to offer at the center of the Main Street scene, this is the ONLY place to go. In the interest of transparency, I have a B&B in Rosendale but I rent this one when I want to spend time at Main Street events. No other B&B in Rosendale offers you a spacious, comfortable housekeeping situation in a fully furnished home at the Nexus of the night life.

I always look for AirBnBs that have lots of cool stuff to look at & this place did not disappoint. The house is old and every corner is thoughtfully decorated. Lovely garden outside and great view of the river. We walked on the trail and walked to dinner downtown. Great value for your money!

Tanya was great and provided very good recommendation about the area. Tanya's apartment is perfect if you are looking for a break from the city in a peaceful and charming town. Rosendale has a surprising number of restaurants.

Wow talk about a superhost! Buffy is everything you could ever want in a host and more. Her beautiful house is clean and very generously supplied with amenities for guests, and Buffy is a very kind, open and attentive host. Rosendale is a great town and staying with Buffy is the best way to get to know it. We will definitely be coming back!

Gerri's home is even more charming than it appears in the pictures. They obviously love the place and it feels very homey. We loved that it's such a short walk to the rail trail, and the yard was great for our kids to play in. Gerri was a very responsive and accommodating host. We hope to stay again!
