Places to stay in Eureka
Enjoy a peaceful, relaxing stay in a light-filled studio apartment in the country just ten minutes drive from the Arcata Plaza and Humboldt State University. Full kitchen and bath, sunny eating alcove, hardwood floors and views of redwoods.
This comfortable and tasteful studio apartment has its own kitchen and full bathroom. It features views of redwoods and distant hills, a sunny eating alcove with large southeast-facing windows, hardwood floors, a wood stove, and a tiled bathroom. Built onto our custom home, the studio apartment is reached through a shared entry room. The studio includes a Sealy Posturepedic queen-sized bed with 400 thread count cotton sheets and a goose down comforter (a hypoallergenic alternative is also available on request). The space features original paintings, Japanese prints and an Oriental carpet. The skylighted kitchen includes a refrigerator, gas range, toaster, coffee grinder, coffee maker and electric kettle. The kitchen is stocked with simple breakfast items, mostly organic. Typically these include eggs, whole grain bread, butter, jam, instant oatmeal, granola, milk, coffee and tea. The bathroom has tile floors and a tiled shower/bath; we supply shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Radiant floor heating provides comfortable warmth; we also supply firewood if you feel like making a fire in the wood stove. The space is ideal for one or two, but we do have a portable twin sized foam mattress for a third person. (There is a $15 charge for this option, payable on arrival; please message us if you'll need this.) Bird song and the sound of the breeze through the trees are the main sounds you will hear in this quiet, secluded corner of Humboldt. You may see deer, raccoons or the occasional fox wander by your window. Yet you are only four miles from Highway 101 and ten minutes drive from the center of Arcata. A gate at the base of our road provides extra security; the code is provided once guests book.
Our corner of Humboldt offers peace and quiet in a country setting, yet is just ten minutes from downtown Arcata and eight minutes from Humboldt State University or Mad River Community Hospital. As we are a bit inland and on the east side of a hill, we get more sunshine and less wind than in town. From here you can experience the beauty and majesty of the world's last remaining old-growth redwood forests in Redwood National and State Parks. The Lonely Planet has selected California's Redwood Coast as the #1 place to visit in the US in 2018. You can also easily tour lovely downtown Arcata, hike in the community forest, explore a dozen beautiful beaches, surf, rent a kayak and paddle around the bay, bike mountain trails, or laze at the river. For great birdwatching, visit Arcata's innovative marsh and bird sanctuary, which cleans the city's wastewater. In Arcata and neighboring Eureka, you can also enjoy diverse art galleries, live music of all types, local theater, and great restaurants featuring locally grown, organic produce. The Arcata Plaza is the heart of town, hosting live music, outdoor fairs, and the weekly farmer's market (Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
  • Annette and Paul's home is absolutely lovely! It's nestled in the woods and they provided breakfast items and great recommendations for where to go in the area.

  • We had five lovely and fantastic days at Annette & Pauls place. Both are very friendly and solicitous hosts. The house is very charming and in the middle of peaceful and quite nature. Its a perfect spot to do daily trips to the redwood national park the scenic coast or the amazing fern canyon. Our appartment was excellent equiped with a whole kitchen a lovely room with a nice view and an own private bathroom. We felt great and can highly, highly recomment Annette & Pauls place

  • We can rate this appartment as a cleanest one and greenest one we've ever been via airbnb. Annette is responsive, considerate and principled host. Highly recommended.

  • The hosts made us very comfortable and explained how easy it was to exit and enter the facility.

  • This is our first experience with Airbnb. We are fully satisfied and well exceed our expectations. Annette and Paul are very nice to us, professional and easy going. The room is as good as the information provided on Airbnb with kitchen, private shower and restroom. It is a four-star room to stay.

  • Annette and Paul made us feel very welcomed right from the start. The room is very nice and clean. It has its own kitchen and Annette provided us with eggs, bread, cerials etc... It is very quite and we really could relax. Would definitely recommend it!

  • Wow! This place was fantastic. Everything was beautiful, peaceful, and the place was absolutely spotless! It was perfectly situated between the famous Avenue of the Giants and the Redwood National Forest's Ladybird Johnson Grove. At night, the bed was cozy and it was very private and quiet. They even had breakfast available in the mini fridge for the next morning. We enjoyed the view from large glass windows next to the dining room table during breakfast, and the bright, open feel after we opened the curtains. We met with Paul too. He was very gracious and knowledgable about the area. We highly recommend this place and would stay again.

    Mike2016-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Simply lovely! Everything about Annette and Paul's home is wonderful! The location is quiet and secluded. The apartment is beautiful and clean and light. We loved our stay here, and regret we didn't book more days.

A perfect getaway for the adventurers! A perfect midway point for those looking to access both of the northern and southern redwood parks. Bright, clean, comfortable, and breakfast is included! Also, for those looking for advice for adventures in the area, my itineraries have proven to be unparalleled--just check the reviews! *Note- My dog WILL greet you upon arrival. He says hello and then retreats back to the room. Please, be comfortable with dogs if your are staying at our listing.
Our house provides the comfort and coziness factor while also being close to everything there is to do in the area. The bus stop is a few blocks away, sequoia park is only a mile from the house, old town (downtown area) is less than a mile away, and the freeway is a minute drive away as well. Everything there is to do in the area is a hop, skip, and a jump away. Upon request, we will provide you with a detailed and personalized itinerary for things to do, places to eat and drink, as well as the best-kept, local secrets of the area to make your stay a special one. Essentially, our house is conveniently located, our amenities and itineraries are unparalleled (just see the reviews), and you won't find a stay in the area like this for a more affordable price! The space: We offer a bedroom in our home. The space is shared, including the bathroom. We are very respectful and, frankly, used to sharing our bathroom for the last 4 years now— it is not an inconvenience. We offer WiFi, a heater, a fan in room, a canister of purified water, and a plethora of literature and personal recommendations on the area. Towels, a blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner and all of that jazz is offered upon staying with us. Also, we welcome guests to take a long soak in our beautiful, claw foot tub :) there’s a television in the living room, but no cable. We have a big dvd collection, please help yourself to a movie or two! The kitchen is fully stocked and available for your use, as well as the fridge and laundry facilities. We ask that you let us know if you’d like to use any of these facilities before usage so we can show you where everything is. We have a dog (border collie), named River. He loves people but he usually hangs out with us in our room or in our backyard. The backyard is utilized for our rescue rabbits, who enjoy life running around freely out there from 8-5pm daily. We do not advertise that our listing includes backyard usage only because some people have taken it upon themselves to write rude reviews about how “odd” it was to have bunnies running around while they were in our yard. Let me reiterate, our yard is solely for our pets. If you like animals, then we welcome you to go out and say hello. If not, please refrain from going out there. Interaction with hosts: We are almost always around to help out and greet guests. However, we usually are just coming home from a long day of work when we meet you, and we have come to value our privacy a bit more over the years. We are hear to answer questions and get you settled in :) other than that, we usually retreat to our room or hang out with our pets outside after work.
The neighborhood is close to just about everything that is awesome in the Eureka-area (when I say "close," I mean 1 mile to old town, 1 mile to the closest old-growth redwood park), as well as a perfect jump-off point for travels North and South.
  • Amy and Jake are incredible hosts. This was my first Airbnb stay, and it was spectacular. Amy took me to a great brewery called Lost Coast with delicious Stout and Fish and Chips - perfect after a long day of driving. I was also having some car trouble and was recommended a mechanic to go to and Amy also gave me a ride back, letting me hang out at their house, sharing breakfast and reading material until my car was ready. Such generosity and kindness is an inspiration and gives one hope in humanity :D

  • My girlfriend and I only had a short stay at Amy and Jake's place, but we would gladly come back! We felt very welcomed and got a good night's sleep. Amy and Jake are both really nice and provide a lot of information for things to do in and around Eureka.

    Nils2015-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amy and Jake were very welcoming. Before we arrived they had given us some excellent suggestions of things to do on our way south. The room was nicely furnished and the bed extremely comfortable. They very kindly allowed us to do a substantial amount of laundry which had accumulated on our road trip. Wonderful! We enjoyed chatting to them, they were both very pleasant and relaxed.

    Gillian2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was hands down, the best Airbnb experience we've ever had. Amy & Jake are the best kind of hosts. We felt like we were visiting old friends. The room is well acquainted and private. There's all sorts of guided itineraries to maximize your time. They really go above and beyond. We highly recommend Amy & Jake's to anyone passing through Eureka. They share their house and even their favorite local spots with you. You'll fall in love with the Lost Coast and wish you could stay longer!

    Kristin2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amy made us feel welcome in her home. She gave us a quick tour of where everything was located including her lovely bunnies. Awesome stuff: 1. Comfortable bed 2. Comfortable couch in the bedroom 3. She let us use the stove. Thank you! :-) 4. My husband and I got to play and feed bunnies. Who doesn't love bunny therapy?! 5. Easy to find her house and park.

    Shonda2016-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying with Amy and Jake. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was great and they have loads of recommendations and things to do in the area.

    Addie2016-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amy and Jake have a lovely home with a relaxing beach cottage feel. They were so very welcoming and explained everything so we could feel at home! They've worked so hard to put together guides and photos for guests to make the most of their area. So perfect for hikers or other nature enthusiasts who want a very comfortable place to rest!

My place is close to the city center, parks, art and culture, and public transport. It is a cozy little gem snuggled into the edge of the Redwoods of the Arcata Community Forest, walking distance to town. The extensive and wonderful trails of the Community Forest are directly accessible, the center of town is a 15-20 min walk and the ocean and Eureka are both 10min away by car. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets).
The house was built by my son's Dad and myself in 2015. It is a very loving, cozy space with radiant floor heating as well as a wood stove upstairs.
This is a quiet cul-de-sac close to town with many families living on the street. Although it's close to town, sometimes a deer or one of my neighbor's ducks wanders onto the road. It is usually very quiet at night with next to no traffic. Sometimes, dogs or kids are present.
  • Therése is a welcoming and open minded person. She gave us good advice of hikes to do, which was much appreciated. What is more, the house is lovely and nicely decorated. Also, it must be noted that the neighborhood is very safe.

  • Clean and artistically appointed room and charming location; quiet,, safe and simple!

    Olen 2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Therése's house is an adorable little big house ☺ Quiet and peaceful. The room was great, and very private, which we liked. We only stayed there one night, on our drive home during a long road trip. She is a very friendly and gracious host! She even made us breakfast and we chatted with her. We will definitely come back, and for a longer time! Recommended!!

    Vineha2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication from the host and a lovely little home!

    Laura2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Therèse is such an amazing host and has a truly unique and relaxing home! We highly recommend the Little House in the Redwoods!

    Addison2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great! The location was so scenic, nestled right into the forest, and we enjoyed chatting to Therese about how she built the house and designed it herself! The room was very comfortable, and the bed was the comfiest bed I have slept in for a long time! Everything was very clean and tidy, and communication was great, thanks for an excellent stay, we would recommend this place to anyone passing through!

    Lizzie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Therese is much more than the cozy little room, you are welcomed into her world with opened arms. Great experience!

  • This is *hands down* the cutest Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at. Everything was so nice and clean, and be space looks like it’s been done and decorated by a professional. The location is great too - very central to shops and restaurants and Eureka. Can’t recommend this place enough.

    Liz2018-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth and Matt’s place is wonderful. The location is within walking distance (0.5-1.0 miles) to a number of restaurants, bars, and shops in Eureka. We used their space as a home base for exploring the coast and parks nearby. Their place is truly stocked above and beyond expectation: coffee, wine glasses and opener, playing cards, soaps, laundry supplies, roku... We had everything we needed and more. The space was very clean a and the bed was comfy as well! I would highly recommend staying here. Though we never met in-person, Matt and Elizabeth were attentive and thoughtful hosts.

    Erin2018-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I stayed at Matt and Elizabeth's beautiful home on our way through Humbolt to visit the redwoods and beaches. We had a great experience! Loved the cozy loft space and everything was sparkling clean. The washer and dryer were a great bonus for us as well! Definitely recommend staying here!

    Hanna2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Eureka and enjoyed your bright and clean studio loft. Thank you for the dinner recommendation in Trinidad we got to experience a beautiful sunset along the beach and the food was excellent. I thought Matt's artwork in the loft was exceptional and a brilliant representation of the beauty we have been enjoying. The loft is easy to find and in an excellent location; very comfortable with lots of well thought touches. Kind regards, Melissa and Joey

  • This studio tiny house has it all. Comfort, coziness, convenient location and is very sheek and modern. A wonderful inviting space!!!

  • We stayed at this place for one night. Check in, stay and check out were very easy. We would definitely stay at this place again.

    Matthias2018-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a sweet place! From booking to check-out, communication with Matt and Elizabeth was clear, quick and easy. The photos accurately display the loft and then in person it's even cuter! Definitely the cleanest place we've booked so far and very generous with the amenities provided. It's also in a great area, very close to any cute shops and restaurants you'd want to visit in Eureka. Everything is well thought out and made for guests to relax and enjoy their stay. We are so glad we were able to stay here - perfect choice!

This charming retreat has everything you need as a base camp for your Redwood Adventures. It's located down a quiet country road that feels far away from town but is only 4 easy miles from Arcata, home of Humboldt State University and 6 miles to Eureka. The clean and freshly decorated space has a queen size bed and a full size futon style couch. Both beds have been reported as VERY comfortable!
Our newly built and tidy mother-in-law studio apartment is perfectly located between Arcata and Eureka. We are close to town (4 miles) but have a country feel. Guests have access to the fully enclosed acre deep back yard, which includes a gas grill and hot tub. Owners live on the property in the main house. We are here to support your stay but not to interfere with it. We do have a friendly boxer who enjoys his backyard but is willing to share! :-) We are 4 miles from Arcata and 6 miles from Eureka and love our pastoral country setting. There are some wonderful walks that guests can access from this property. This home provides a perfect base for your redwood coast adventures. Whether you are here for the majestic trees, the pristine coastline or the man-made attractions like Humboldt State University or Old Town Eureka, you will find our guesthouse to be an ideal launching pad. Our country setting is not within range for public transportation, but we are within biking distance to town. There are some really nice walks directly from our home as well. Our Redwood Retreat is a great place to relax and unwind, but it's not a party house. Please be courteous guests. **Please note, this is NOT a cannabis friendly listing.

  • Mike and Jayne were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They were very nice and a pleasure. It's a great place, especially if you have dogs. I'm not sure who had a better vacation; us or the dogs. The huge backyard gave them a chance to run around. They loved it. It was a great time. We'd love to come back agin. Thank you!

    Ralph2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jayne & Mike have a lovely home and yard! This little space was perfect for my boyfriend and I on our road trip. They provided so many amenities to make the place feel like home and we loved the hot tub after a long day of driving. I would definitely recommend staying here!

    Kate2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately we only had the opportunity to stay for one night. I would have loved to stay longer because this place is very lovely and relaxing. The large windows allow you to take in the beautiful backyard and the layout of the interior is very comfortable, we had everything we needed. Thanks Mike for the hospitality and the goodies! :) We appreciate it. We spent some time in the jacuzzi in the evening and got to enjoy a great view of the stars. Mike told us about a creek thats just a short walk away. It's quite an amazing creek and you can hear it from the back yard if it's quiet enough. We can also vouch for the places they recommended to visit. The house coffee at cafe Brio is notably good. The ice cream at The Scoop did not disappoint and the brewery was welcoming and relaxing. I highly recommend this Airbnb.

    Aleksandr2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our brief stay at Jayne and Mike's. We felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. Directions were easy to follow, neighborhood was quaint, backyard scenery was refreshing; we had everything we needed. Got a chance to meet Mike on our way out- such a nice guy.

    Sarah2015-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Redwood Retreat was great. Close to 101 and town but yet felt like you were in the country. Very clean and welcoming.

    Pam2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Jayne and Mike were very welcoming and responsive. After a long drive, we were not at our "perkiest" and they were so kind and helped us get settled in quickly. This is one of the cleanest and most efficiently designed places we've stayed in. The paint and decor are fresh and interesting, the shower and bathroom is modern and upscale, and the hosts are warm and knowledgeable. There were a lot of lovely extra touches, like a bowl of fresh fruit, extra towels, and beautiful pottery dishes. If you like dogs, you will fall in love with Lucky, their gentle dog, who loves a little extra TLC. The bed is comfortable and the surroundings are peaceful and relaxing. Our only regret is that our visit was only one night and we couldn't stay to talk more with them about the surrounding area--they are great ambassadors for this part of California.

    Leslie2015-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for what we needed, which was a place to crash while exploring the redwoods. It's an easy drive from Eureka and in a quiet, residential area. The hosts are very responsive and helpful and really made us feel welcome with a variety of small touches. They offered to show us how to work the futon and left a bottle of wine, coffee, tea, and fresh fruit for us to enjoy. I only wish we hadn't been too exhausted from driving and hiking all day to take advantage of the hot tub!

    Hope2015-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved this place. It's a lovely spot, and Jayne and Mike couldn't have been kinder and more welcoming. The property is beautiful, and the little apartment had everything we could have wanted. The hot tub was really nice at night, and Lucky the dog is the sweetest dog ever. We would love to stay again.

This is a tiny house in the redwoods, built by an artist as a spiritual retreat. The building is built on sacred geometry ideas, and sits perfectly placed on the cardinal directions. It is private and promises introspection and creativity. This is a perfect place for a soul connected romantic weekend or a writers get away. Sit on the patio amongst the redwoods while you sip your morning coffee. Soak in the claw foot tub and let the stress melt away with the birds singing. Dog friendly.
There is no place like this. Every detail has been creatively inspired with the intent of promoting a sense of spiritual connection and peace. The redwoods that surround the home are quiet and inviting. There is a kitchenette with a mini fridge, sink, coffee pot, electric tea kettle, microwave and electric cooktop. There is a deliciously comfortable queen sized memory foam bed upstairs in the loft. There is a half bath inside and a uniquely elegant outdoor bath with a claw foot tub/shower that allows you to be in nature while you relax. The home is built almost entirely out of reclaimed old growth redwood. The design is inspired by spiritual sanctuaries or places of worship. There is no tv or wifi because the home is meant to draw one closer to their spiritual connection and away from the busy world. I provide yoga mats and a library and encourage their use. Fluffy soft bathrobes are provided. There is an essential oil diffuser to set the mood and the soaps and shampoos are natural and organic. The deck is an amazing place for yoga in the morning. The property is far from neighbors and road noise but still close to town. There is total privacy and quite. Destination spots nearby are the Avenue of the Giants, The lost coast, Ferndale, Centerville beach and the Eel river.
The property is about a mile from downtown Fortuna and 2 miles from highway 101, however, it is isolated and one feels that they are far in the countryside.
  • This is THE place to stay in Northern California. Cheryl is an amazing host and a very sweet lady. Her place is exceptional - funky, clean, fun. The outdoor shower was amazing (check out her pictures)! She is on a property of 12 acres, so you're close to town but it's totally quite and private in the cabin. We only got to stay for a night, but we will definitely be back for additional time there.

  • Quit looking for other places to stay in the area! This place is magical and serene. Bed was great and the place had everything we needed. A very special place indeed! Cheryl is a wonderful host and we had all the privacy we needed!

  • Very unique place to stay . Nice and secluded . The bed is very comfortable too.

  • Pure and simple perfection. I will be booking a second trip this summer.

    Carly2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl was a great host and the space was perfect!! Quiet, serene, and everything we could want. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.

  • beautiful place, wonderful experience!!

    Lari2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great little getaway cabin not too far from the center of town! The entire property has a great vibe about it, Cheryl was also a lovely host! The cabin was beautifully decorated, very aesthetically pleasing and had everything we were looking for! There is also a great little library of books, some yoga mats, just the right amount of space for all things needed. My dog was very happy to be there as well, she definitely felt just as good about the place as we did! The bed was incredibly cozy also, in fact we slept in later than we have in a long time! I'm very fortunate to live only a few hours away, will definitely be back again, but will be smarter and stay more than just one single night next time... we didn't want to leave!!

    Jessica2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The space is amazing! My partner and I went with my dog and wish we could have stayed longer. The space is ideal for resting and lounging, easily accessible to the town, but also remote enough that it felt like the middle of the woods (though there are neighbors on the property, with their spaces visible from the house). The magic of the redwoods is definitely felt here.

Henderson center shopping and restaurants only a mile away and charming old town is a 1.5 mile jaunt. It’s an easy 15 minute drive up the 101 to HSU, and not too far from beautiful beaches, and the majestic redwoods. Perfect for couples, small families, and business travelers.
This studio features: Queen memory foam bed and a queen fold out mattress. There is a full size kitchen with all the essentials. If there is anything else you may need, ask and we probably have it. Floor to ceiling windows to let the light in and blackout blinds for keeping it out. Satellite TV and high speed WiFi
  • Great space! This was the perfect base of operations while I explored Humboldt County. Leah and Casey were full of great suggestions and very approachable.

    Ross2018-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute and convenient location! Centrally located between Trees of Mystery and Avenue of the Giants. Outside of town far enough where the street is quiet, but close enough where it’s easy and quick to get into town. Definitely would stay here again!

    Timarie2018-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Leah and Casey’s studio was great. Super clean and very well thought out. It had everything we needed and it is a beautiful space. My wife and I travel a lot and have stayed in many Airbnb’s and this one was one of our favorites. If you are looking for a clean, convenient and beautiful place to have as a home base for redwood hiking, biking etc, this is the place for you.

    Angelo2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • So stylish and comfortable! Loved the color scheme and the amenities. Perfect place to relax for a few days. :D

    Charlotte2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a great little gem! The Loft is nicely renovated and Leah and Chasey put so much effort to the small things (some snacks and drinks for us to start of, bikes for our kids in the back yard and a lot of tips what to do). And last but not least the best value for money that we had within our whole trip. Thank you for having us!

    Gwendolyn2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Modern, updated and super clean studio. Our family of 4 had plenty of room to be comfortable for our 3 night stay. It was great having all the comforts of home available to us. The studio is located above a garage so it’s completely private and separate from their home. We were a little concerned about parking our car full of luggage overnight on the street but Leah and Casey put our minds at ease and allowed us to park in the driveway behind a closed gate. Would definitely recommend staying here!!

    Arlene2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful loft! It was quiet and comfortable and well-designed. About a one hour drive from the Redwood National Park which was great. Highly recommended.

    Ray2018-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • The studio has a nice modern feel and tastefully decorated. The wall of windows gives the place a bright feel. The hosts were very friendly and prompt in response to any request. It was a nice place to come back to after a long day of doing the tourist thing.

Quiet, cozy, private cabin. There's a kitchen/dining space with cozy seating, a super comfy loft bed, full bath with on demand hot shower and outdoor deck on a garden. Hear the ocean from your cabin which is on 2 acres that borders a bike trail and is near the woods, trails, a dog park, the river and ocean views. A sweet retreat space with big views, birds, gardens, peace and quiet and easy access to fabulous beaches, Arcata, Trinidad, Redwood National park, great restaurants and lots of fun.
My cabin truly is a tiny house that I called home for several years. I love it and try to make it a nice home for you. The bed is in the loft, the loft has a railing on one side only. Please review the photos of loft bed and stairs, which are not steep and have lots of hand holds. Because of this, the space is not appropriate for children or people who wouldn't feel comfortable in this situation. Also I welcome pets but limit the accommodation to one dog only.
  • Spotless--probably the cleanest Airbnb I've been to. Had everything I needed and then some. The cabin itself is not really like any place I have stayed prior; the layout is unique. The location of the cabin is super close to a beautiful view of the ocean. The town is cute, and left a good impression on me. Will definitely be staying again for future visits.

    Tori2018-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Celine's tiny home is close to the beaches and redwoods. She brought us over some cold pressed apple juice and had some great recommendations for the area. The northern beaches and redwoods are fantastic.

    Scott2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Celine's tiny cabin! It was very cozy and perfect for our stay. Location was super convenient to beaches and Redwoods, both of which we enjoyed very much. Her cabin was perfect for two people. We hope to be back someday!

  • Quiet, lovely and private.

    Melissa2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10 would recommend! This little cabin is exactly as pictured/described/reviewed, and the location is perfect. Quiet and secluded with a beautiful, fragrant patch of wildflowers off the front porch and trees and foliage beyond. It’s conveniently located near the redwoods, various beautiful beaches, breweries and lots of places to eat/drink/do fun things. Check in and out were easy, the cabin was clean and quaint and stocked with everything needed to make it a nice, comfortable stay. There are also suggestions of local attractions and info inside, which was super thoughtful and helpful! We would definitely stay here again!

    Mara2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This trip was just what what we needed! The amazing beaches and hikes were beautiful. The food suggestions were delicious and Uber available if you don’t want to drive. We loved how cozy this sweet cabin was and looking out on a cute garden and open meadow! Perfect getaway for a couple.

    Carol2018-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very sweet, secluded, private spot. Quiet and peaceful. Very soft, plush mattress. Loved our stay here and would stay again.

    Nina2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Cabin in the Woods is adorable. It was very clean and fresh, with lots of hospitable touches - for example, nice soap, a small vase of fresh flowers, labels of where to find things, and pleasant lighting. We especially enjoyed the garden, which has flowers, succulents, and fragrant herbs. A highlight of our trip was eating breakfast outside the cabin amongst hummingbirds and chickadees, with the sound of the ocean in the background. I appreciate the cabin-like feel of the propane stove. Check-in was easy and Celine has a letter with great suggestions on dining and nearby natural sights, as well as brochures and maps from the nearby Redwood parks. Celine's home and others are nearby, but trees around the cabin and its location at the end of a road make it feel private. One caution is that the loft bed, while extremely comfortable, is close to the edge of the upstairs floor - there is a short railing on one side, but the other side is open to the stairwell. If you are prone to sleepwalking or falling out of bed, this might be scary. Downstairs, there was plenty of space for two people. Overall, the Little Cabin in the Woods was a charming place to stay and great base for exploring the North Coast area.

Stay in a piece of history - our 1952 Airstream trailer that has been renovated into a mother in law unit. It is located walking distance from the sand dunes and beach - in between Arcata and Eureka. Trailer has all modern comforts and we have built an outdoor claw foot tub for bathing and star gazing. The bed is a full size Tempur-pedic mattress. This is a perfect spot for one person or couples looking for a unique fun experience!
Guest have full access to Airstream, outdoor private claw foot tub and shower and surrounding deck. There is 1/2 bathroom with toilet inside. Be prepared that the bathroom is a tight fit and the space itself is small. If you are traveling as a pair make sure you are comfortable maneuvering in small spaces together as our Airstream is approximately 125 square feet. Beach access and list of activities provided for guest. The sand dunes by our house lead you out to the beautiful Pacific Ocean where you can walk down uninterrupted beaches for miles. The bed has 100% cotton sheets and down comforter. We provide organic ground coffee, green tea, organic milk, filtered water and kitchen basics such as organic oil for cooking, pink Himalayan salt, pepper grinder etc. We use only all natural cleaning supplies and essential oils.
We live in the colorful town of Manila located between Arcata (5 minute drive) and Eureka (5 minute drive). Our neighbors next door are super friendly and we live walking distance to the beach. We live on a peninsula and there are some beautiful places to explore out here. If you love riding bikes we would be happy to explain some amazing rides to Arcata or to the South. The dunes also make for amazing sunset hikes and the surf breaks along the coast offer excellent waves throughout the year.
  • Allison has put a lot of thought and care into making their place homely, comfortably, stylish and, importantly, affordable! AirBnB how it should be. Arcata is a delight - super chill and friendly. and the coast has lot to offer - Allison's recommendations were spot on! highly recommended for anyone looking to explore this end of Cali, and a perfect location to explore the lost coast!

    Matthew2018-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Pulling up to Allison's place, you wouldn't guess that there's the world's cutest Airstream tucked away in her backyard. Once we opened her gate, we were so excited to see where we got to spend the evening. Allison and her husband completely remodeled the Airstream and it is stylish, clean, and cozy. Not only that, but it's location is AMAZING. We were able to walk to the beach for sunset with no one else in sight. Also, Allison was extremely sweet and helpful. This is the perfect little getaway!

    Sarah2018-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had such a wonderful stay at Allison’s! She is a wonderful host and provides such a peaceful and unique experience. I will definitely be back!

    Anna2018-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • With this airstream you'll fall back in time to the 1950. At under 5'5" I enjoyed the stay slightly more than my over 6' travel companion (their head almost touched the ceiling and got cold from wind in the outside shower). But despite being small, you'll find yourself stretched out luxuriously. The little details like candles, pour over, homemade flush for the toilet, and temperpedic mattress give you 5- star comfort in a small package. Plus you are nearly on the beach. We didn't find the neighborhood scenic, but you are seconds from anything worth wondering, eyes wide open. The hosts have embraced a country-garden theme outside, and had it not been rainy (which, you'll still have a marvelous time hearing rain ping off your roof) we could have sat for hours on the deck.

    Danielle2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is just the place you wanna end up getting to the Westcoast and to the Pacific. Allison and Alex are the perfest hosts!

    Lutz2018-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • The outdoor shower was an awesome experience, there were even little green frogs chilling in there! The Airstream was cozy and warm, and decorated with animal figurines. Located a short walk from a rather private beach, didn’t see a soul for miles. Allison and Alex were awesome hosts who went above and beyond to make this an awesome experience! The food recommendations and sites were on-point. 5 out of 5 would stay again

    Alex2018-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really something special. We loved the space and made use of the outdoor tub after a crisp walk on the beach. Allison clearly puts a lot of work and personal touches into this place. That coffee was so good! Arcata is a great little town and a great jump off for several parks. If this place is available, book it.

    Gin2018-08-31T00:00:00Z

Quiet getaway between Eureka and Arcata. Charming 500 sq. ft. barn loft with private deck, surrounded by a lush redwood forest of tall trees, birds and woodland creatures. Short drive to towns, beaches, rivers and hiking. Small market and farm stands nearby.
Located near the end of a canyon road in a redwood forest. Remodeled barn loft with custom, unique touches. Shared driveway and yard separate the loft from main house where we live and work. The loft is ideal for single travelers or couples who do not smoke tobacco. The full kitchen includes gas range, toaster, and microwave, and is stocked with eggs, tea, locally roasted coffee, butter, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and, when available, seasonal veggies from the organic garden and orchard. The bedroom features both an attached solarium, and a private deck above a year-round creek. The Queen bed frame was made onsite with reclaimed ancient redwood. The en suite bathroom includes soap, shampoo, clean towels, and features a secluded glass shower that brings the rain forest into the bathroom. A small library includes regional guides to help plan day trips and identify birds, mushrooms and other wildlife. An outdoor fireplace on the entry deck is perfect for cozy evenings under the stars. Conveniently located a short drive to beaches, rivers, Headwaters Forest Preserve, Old Town Eureka, the Arcata Plaza, and Humboldt State University. Perfect for nature lovers, but just 5 minutes off highway 101, which winds along the edge of Humboldt Bay. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Be aware: The private road becomes one lane for the last few hundred feet and can sometimes require backing up or pulling over to accommodate oncoming vehicles. One senior dachshund lives in the main house. He is a rescue who is a bit standoffish. We love our little spot in the forest and think you will, too!
Our year-round creek and surrounding forest environment is host to frogs, salamanders, birds, fox, owls and the occasional bear. Summer mornings and evenings are filled with the song of varied thrush, and it's common to hear pileated woodpeckers in the nearby trees. Redwood forest flora includes maiden hair fern, horsetail, trillium, thimble berries, native azalea and rhododendron.
  • If you are traveling to Eureka or anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and stay at this gem! It was the perfect distance away from everything we needed to get to. The house was totally spacious, adorably decorated and just absolutely peaceful. We were very sad to have to leave this little bit of paradise. Howard and Jen were so accommodating; they had everything we needed at the property, they gave us great recommendations on where to go visit, hikes and eateries. They even let us pick food from their garden for our meals. We love staying at airbnb's and this one was by far one of our favorites! Thank you Jen & Howard for your warm hospitality and opening up your little gem for us to experience!

    Shalene2016-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This unique and charming place is in a great location for exploring Redwood Country. Don't miss eclectic Downtown Eureka, especially the historical museum. Your hosts are full of information and tips to make your stay better.

  • An amazing place--well appointed, an absolutely amazing shower, all the amenities you need. Jen and Howard are great hosts, and their little piece of land is in one of the most gorgeous areas I've ever seen. They even have a garden from which they invite you to take whatever is in season. A real treat to stay and relax with the outdoor fire, or to run into town if that's what you want. I can't recommend the place highly enough. We'll definitely come back!

    Thomas2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful. The loft is immaculate and very cozy. Highly recommend staying there. Beautiful surroundings. Howard and Jen are perfect hosts.

  • We couldn't have been happier! I Found this place and surprised my boyfriend for his birthday weekend. Jen and Howard were very accommodating, even leaving a card and a bottle of wine in the loft. The directions were easy to follow and the road easy to travel. We were met immediately by Jen and Howard upon arrival with a warm welcome to their slice of Heaven. The lit stairway lead us up to the cozy loft and into the warm kitchen/dining area. There were fresh provisions in the refrigerator and a nice directory pointing out restaurants and points of interest in the area. The bedroom has the most captivating view through the sliding glass door into the viewing room, which was full of fresh cut flowers and succulents. The back patio takes you away with the lush green surrounding forest and the tranquil running creek. The bathroom was very nice and clean. The floor to ceiling windows in the shower make you feel as though you are outside. The calm quiet setting, the magnificent forest surrounding and the welcoming hosts made this a weekend to remember and a place we will definitely be coming back to in the future!

    Haley2016-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Best airbnb stay every. Jen and Howard are great host.

    Kurt2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jen and Howard were very friendly and ready with advise about good restaurants and activities to do around the area. In addition, the space was our own build on top of the garage and was beautiful. there was a porch and balcony area which were both beautiful spots to sit and have a cup of coffee. It was a really nice experience!

    Simon2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't have loved this loft in the woods more! The room itself had everything we needed - including a kitchen with all the amenities and an impressive collection of books in case we needed something to read. Right off the bedroom is a private deck and a separate, private solarium, both surrounded by tall, beautiful redwoods and lush green forest, with a babbling creek flowing below. Our dog, Lexi, loved to lounge in the solarium and walk along the quiet road that winds from the main thoroughfare up to the property. Jen and Howard are perfect hosts, sharing stories about the area, and ready with outing suggestions whenever we asked. We visited in January, and are eager to go back in the spring when there's a bit more sun and everything is starting to bloom.

  • We absolutely loved staying at Cris farmhouse.the room was everything and more. We enjoyed having our own lite terrace out into the garden and our own bathroom. Cris and her boyfriend we're super nice and helpful - it's a bummer we only stayed there for one night!

    Jurema2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cris's home is a great place to stay if you like to be close to nature. We found the animals (both pets and outside animals - chickens and geese) wonderful to be around. The bedroom we had was cozy, with a good reading chair, lots of books and games, as well as TV, if you want that. We felt at ease in Cris's nice home - free to relax and make small meals. We look forward to returning on our next trip to the Redwoods. AND wow, we ate at Folie Douce, Cris's gourmet restaurant in Arcata - it was awesome!

    Anna2018-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We fell in love with The Studio. We anticipated it being awesome because of all the rave reviews, but we were blown away by all of the food left for us, the beautiful garden she allowed us to take from, and the views of farms and cows surrounding the property. We wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Cris and her family were very warm and welcoming. The dogs came to greet us at the gate and the apartment was fully stocked. This was one of the nicest AirBNB stays we've ever had. I would also recommend frequenting Cris' restaurant, the food was excellent!

  • Cris's place was an absolute delight. This is a great room with a constant energy bubbling around the house. The room itself is very comfortable with a lot of natural light. The bathroom was extremely clean. The full kitchen right outside the door was very useful, along with the fresh eggs we ate every morning. If you stay here, be sure to hang out with Obi!

This studio is above our detached garage, about 30ft. in front of our house. It has a private entrance with stairs up to the loft. Perfect for one or two people. We share this property with some stray cats, a couple of deer friends, and pesky racoons. As we are about 40 yds off the road, there is private parking with motion detecting nightlights and a sidewalk leading to the entrance. The room has a small refrigerator, micro-wave oven, student desk and old, wooden office chair. Two folding chairs and a table are provided for sitting on the balcony. There is a twin bed and a scissor futon couch that makes into a full-sized bed. Towels, soap, shampoo and bedding for the couch-bed are provded. Private parking is 20 ft. from the entrance with motion detecting nightlights for your safety. Guest will have access to the studio and our yard, which borders on a dedicated wetlands. There are no trails. We are providing a clean, quiet and private space for guest to enjoy their time here in Arcata and Humboldt County. We are availabe for directions and recommendations, otherwise, we ask that our privacy be respected. Our neighborhood is quiet and rural, surrounded by trees. We have deer that roam our yard, sometimes on a daily basis. There is a good coffee/ sandwhich shop about 50yds from the house - they do not give "to go" cups, so we provide them. There is a small shopping center 1 mile towards Arcata that has a friendly neighborhood market, laundromat, hardware store and restaurant. This is a bike friendly area, with wide bike lanes. We are 2.5 miles from Humboldt State University - a 5 minute drive or a 10 minute bike ride. We are 3 miles southeast of Arcata and 4 miles northeast of Eureka. We are 1 mile from the nearest public transit. It is at Sunny Brae shopping center. This is the southernmost point for the Mad River transit and connects in Arcata to Redwood Transit that connects Fortuna, Eureka and Trinidad.
  • Jerry’s place was everything what we needed during a road trip like ours. Very comfortable beds, small room for 3 of us but the whole floor was for our disposable so we could leave our bags in the hall. It was clean and cozy. Jerry was very helpful giving us directions what to see and do along the coast of Northern California and Oregon. I fell in love in Redwoods so I recommend it to any nature lover. You must experience it. And Jerry’s home is the place to stay.

    Ela2018-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the studio was perfect. Very private and included everything we needed. Host even gifted us a 5 dollar gift card to the cafe down the street. Such a nice gesture! The coffee and sweet potatoes muffin was to die for. Cat's meow was the perfect little spot to rest after a day of exploring the redwoods.

    Edlin2015-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry's place was a fantastic stopping point between Portland and San Fran. He was so incredibly nice and accommodating with us, I would definitely recommend him! Our private apartment/room was clean and cozy, nestled in the Redwoods and close to a coffee shop and the highway. This was a great experience for my boyfriend and I, thanks again!

  • This is a great little place in a peaceful neighborhood. We used it as our home base to explore the Humboldt bay towns and Redwood National Forest. It worked out perfectly, close to everything, super clean, and had tons of great art. We really appreciated all of the little touches and amenities; there were plenty of linens, a mini library to peruse, free wifi and even a gift card for the local coffee shop. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a home base to explore the bay.

  • Really enjoyed my stay here. Jerry was very kind and accommodating. It was a long drive to get up there and we were famished. Jerry gave us a great dinner recommendation. He also had some cool tips on places to visit while we were in the area. Room was cozy, quiet, and private.

    Sterling2015-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jerrys loft was very comfortable . Jerry himself was a great host giving us recommendations for local eateries . small space but all you require and having your own bathroom is a big plus especially for two girls. Would recommend Jerry's place to anyone looking for a place to crash in comfort

    Louise2015-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed a short time at Jerry's house but it was enough to feel good. He was very nice, the room is so cute and veeeery clean, and so luminous! He was eager to provide us with details information about everything we may need to know about our trip. We are thankful for his flexibility and agility (we arrive so late and he was very considerated with us)

  • My first night at Jerry’s place was so comfortable that I stayed a second night on my way back through town. It was cozy, quiet, clean and private. Jerry was very friendly and accommodating with my travel plans. I had two wonderful night’s rest at this studio. Would recommend.

  • I loved staying with Melanie! She was such a gracious and informative host. The the accommodations wear pleasant and comfortable, the land was beautiful, and the animals were adorable! I would definitely recommend her place to anyone staying in the Arcata area.

    Hannah2016-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mel made me incredibly welcome. The studio itself is perfect with everything you need from espresso maker to corkscrew (usually my most important requirements)! It's a really cosy nice place to be. The fresh flowers also made me feel really welcome and the shower is GREAT! But this is not the best thing about this space. Mel is a wonderful, warm and interesting person who made me feel incredibly welcome and added hugely to my experience in Arcata and California. She shared her experience and knowledge of the area with me and in a very short time made me feel so at home that it was a wrench to leave. Without Mel there are many places in Arcata that I wouldn't have known about and I'm touched that she shared them with me. It was a really magical time and place for me. Also I got to feed the goats and chickens and hang out with Baron the dog which was huge fun. I had a wonderful time :)

    Eleanor2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Melanie and her space are both absolutely wonderful! The studio is quite small, but extremely efficiently laid out, very clean and comfortable and has everything you need and more. My dog Lucy and I were warmly welcomed by Melanie and her sweet dog Baron upon arrival. Melanie had harvested some peas from her garden and gave me a couple to munch on--yum! She also gave me a tour of the acre, showing me around her garden and introducing us to her goats and chickens. Truly, the pictures on Airbnb do not do this place justice. It's so peaceful... such a lovely slow-down from busy city life. Let me assure everyone that the outdoor shower is not just tolerable--it's magical. It's located inside a small, protected and private greenhouse with flowering vines, decorative rock and cement floor, antiques, artwork and curiosities. The shower has an instant hot water heater and fantastic water pressure. I had my reservations about the shower before visiting, but I ended up LOVING it. I hope to build one of my own someday! Full disclosure, I was there in summer, so it's possible it gets a little cold in the winter, but I would surmise it's protected enough by it's four walls that only the 8-10 steps back to the studio would [possibly] give you a chill. Melanie was a wonderful host, and I cannot say enough good things about our stay with her. Pretty sure my pup was sad to go! If I ever find myself up north again, I will try to stay with her again!

    Maggie2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Melanie's house and hospitality are wonderful. The location and setting are great for anyone visiting Arcata. We will surely visit again!

    Joe2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Melanie's place is absolutely a secret garden paradise. She is a wonderful and kind person-- my husband and I felt we were visiting a friend, rather than meeting someone for the first time. Her animals, ybur and Baron, are so sweet and became our instant pals. If sitting in the garden watching hummingbirds, showering in the sun, and sleeping in a most comfortable bed is something you like, absolutely stay here. What a treasure Melanie and her studio are!

    Molly2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Melanie is the nicest and accomodating person you would ever wish to meet. Her little place is relaxing and cozy, ideal for one person or a couple. Even though conveniently located in Arcata it has that rustic country feel of Humboldt.

    Brian2015-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Melanie is very warm and welcoming. Her place is ideal for a visit to Humboldt area. She makes you feel at home and it was very relaxing and enjoyable here. The outdoor shower is great and can get plenty hot enough even during the cold rainy Humboldt mornings. It was really refreshing. There is a big field around the corner from the house where you can run your dog and the mad river beach is a short drive from the house. I worked from home while I was there and the internet was great too. I would highly recommend her place to visitors, and will plan another trip up to stay when I can!

  • So far this has been one of my favorite Air BnB trips. The house was clean and comfortable. It was very cozy and felt just like home! The secret garden was a really nice place to sit down and sip your coffee. I would absolutely recommend this place. Greg was very nice and accommodating and made our stay one of the best. Thanks again!

  • This was a super comfortable and wonderful space to stay. It was close enough to everything (a few minutes drive from Old Town and 101), but felt tucked away and secluded from the traffic. The home is cozy and the little amenities that were left were lovely touches. My husband and I loved our time here and would happily stay here again, and hope to do so in the future!

    Julia2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We so appreciated all the thoughtfulness that went into the furnishings and supplies. So many fun little surprises, as well as everything that was listed. The hummingbirds that visited the feeder in the window were especially delightful! Even though the kitchen was small, it was extremely well equipped, more than sufficient for preparing meals with the double burner hotplate and toaster oven. The notebook with instructions and suggestions was exceptionally well done. The place was so comfortable and homey, and the neighborhood very quiet. We'll be back!

    Karen2017-03-20T00:00:00Z

The "Blue Room" is your quiet, cozy country getaway just 2 miles from town, across the street from the Mad River and 5 miles from the beach. Cruising up the long drive-way, you'll be welcomed by our mustang, donkeys & goats. We welcome guests of all backgrounds and love making new friends. Having lived on the North Coast for nearly 40 years we're a great resource to make your stay memorable.
Guests love the "just right" comfortable full sized futon with temurapedic topper and large luxurious bathroom with oversized tub and separate shower. Mini-fridge, microwave, air popcorn popper, coffee, tea and treats are included. If you happen to be traveling with horses, ask us about short-term boarding. We're also open to hosting one dog if it is well mannered and voice command-controlled.
Our property is 6.3 acres in a park-like setting. We have gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. We tend to get sun on our property when other areas in town are fogged in. In the summer we can walk you down to our little sandy beach and swimming hole on the Mad River. It's just 2 min. to the town of McKinleyville with groceries, gas, restaurants and The Mill Creek Cinema in case you care to take in a movie. The college town of Arcata is just 5 miles with some great dining, live music and quaint town plaza shopping. There is a delightful Farmer's Market there on Saturdays. The town of Blue Lake is also within 5 miles with bowling, a casino and a tap room a hatchery and river access.
  • Outstanding value and hosts just outside of town. This is an attached rental with private entrance on a large property. Everyone and every animal here are friendly and accommodating. Cozy bedroom, large closet with necessities (microwave, small fridge, popcorn maker, snacks for humans and animals) and super large bath with a fantastic tub and shower. At first I had concerns about the "futon" as I need a good bed..but I found the bed comfy and the linens, extra pillows, etc. made me feel at home. I slept very well! Tracy was kind enough to wash linens for me as my lab sheds a lot. My lab and I ended up staying over a week (I kept adding time) and he was welcomed and taken care of. Tracy and her husband are easy going, friendly folks who are easily available by text. I like my privacy, which I was given, but also enjoyed my time chatting with Tracy. She even cooked me rice when I felt sick one day! Great, private views from the bedroom and bathtub... I really enjoyed being around the goats and donkeys and their dog, Pepper, and my dog had fun together. This is a fantastic choice and value for so many reasons, I highly recommend this home and look forward to returning.

    Kristi2018-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy's suite is very inviting with lots of extras such as the luxury bath, microwave and small refrigerator. I slept well on the comfortable bed and enjoyed the animals that are on the property. The house is close to town for easy access to shopping, and the Redwoods Highway that runs along the coast. There are beautiful hikes at Humbolt State Park south of town and the National and State Parks north of town so it is a great place for exploring the California Redwoods areas. Tracy and her husband were friendly and helpful hosts who made me feel welcome at their place and I would recommend staying with them if you are in the area.

  • You will feel like you are on vacation. The location is beautiful. The home is a couple of minutes from town, and the beach. Especially delightful is the large bathroom and tub (with plenty of hot water) looking out onto the beauty of the land. Tracy and her husband are charming, and the farm animals are fun, too

    Tobias2018-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Private, comfortable, with many "personal touches." I arrived late both nights I stayed and left early the full day I was in Arcata, so I didn't see or meet Tracy and Pat until I was headed out on my final day. I arrived quite late (after dark) and Tracy, who was out of town, and I spoke by phone to guide me to the key and room. TOP TIP: Make it easier on yourself and the hosts by arriving before dark. She also took the time to message me several places to visit. Her prices are very reasonable but watch out for the Airbnb "added" service fees, which really boosts the cost. Five-Star rating for The Blue Room and Tracy and Pat. I hope to stay again this fall when I'm over on the coast.

Come relax in our rustic cabin in the Redwoods. Secluded on our property of gardens and nestled against a backdrop of Redwood forest, this is a perfect get away to decompress. The cabin is private and cozy and great for couples, solo adventurers, or business travelers. It provides a nice space to read, write, study or work. Only a 5 minute drive to both Eureka and Arcata. The Gnome Home has been enjoyed for years by close friends and family and now we are opening it up to the Airbnb community!
Our cabin is rustic yet modern, providing quality accommodation and amenities in a country setting. It is tucked on the back of property where we do organic gardening, woodworking, apple cider pressing and all kinds of fun making! The Gnome Home has been recently remodeled into a modern stylish space, but still holds its cabin charm. It is a small one room cabin, but is great for two people and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. This is a tiny home... we built before tiny homes were cool! There is kitchenette, stove, and fridge for evening meals on the deck and a coffee maker with coffee and teas are provided for cozy mornings in the redwood forest. There is a queen bed up in the loft and an extra futon for guests who want separate sleeping beds. An efficient heater quickly heats the space and a dehumidifier keeps it nice and dry. It has a large, clean bathroom with concrete counters, glass block shower and wood details. A new on-demand water heater means you will never run out of hot water. The cabin has a nice covered deck for lounging overlooking the forests and fields. There is parking at our house, but only for one car. Note that from where you park there is a short walk across the field to the cabin, which can be wet and dark, so bring proper shoes and flashlight.
Our property perched on the forested bluffs just above Humboldt Bay. We live on a small gravel lane with a handful of houses. It is located exactly between the towns of Eureka and Arcata so it is an easy 5 minute drive into the downtown of either city. Both Eureka and Arcata have great natural food markets, restaurants, bars and entertainment options, along with music venues, art galleries and Humboldt State University. We are happy to recommend our favorite spots to you. You can easily adventure out to our epic coastline or into the mountains for hiking and biking.
  • The Gnome Home is nestled in a large secluded backyard. A welcoming retreat, it's uniqueness is it's charm! The space, though small is bright and airy with enough room for 2 people to relax and not feel on top of one another. We only cooked one meal while there, but found the kitchen set up to be genius! Loved all the windows and the deck to take in the beautiful setting. We spent an entire afternoon just relaxing while enjoying the tranquility and enjoying the company of Sven, a friendly neighborhood cat who seems to have made this his second home! The cabin is near several area towns with plenty of restaurants and shopping and it's a good base for exploring the National and State Parks in the area. Bjorn and his family, who live on the property were wonderful hosts and very respectful of our privacy. I highly recommend The Gnome Home and will book it again if my travels take me back to the area!

  • The Gnome Home is a lovely and peaceful place to stay. It's as picturesque and cute as posted pictures. We were comfortable and cozy and would love to return. Bjorn was a warm and welcoming host and provided helpful and easy to follow directions. The cabin was well furnished with kitchen supplies, cooking basics, tea and coffee, towels, basically anything you could need. Definitely highly recommended!

    Carl2016-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Bjorn's place is PARADISE! Nestled in the Redwoods with amazing day trips all around, this is the perfect long weekend getaway. We could have probably stayed for WEEKS on end. The little cabin has everything you would ever need including coffee, all the kitchen bits possible, and even a cat named Sven to say hello as you come and go (Sven lives outside/ at a neighbors, but we grew quite fond of her!!). Bjorn and his family are lovely, and their home is inspiring. We loved staying here and highly, highly recommend.

    Cammy2017-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Gnome Home! Super cute, clean, cozy, well-designed space with many sweet touches. Morning coffee on the deck overlooking gorgeous green surroundings was my favorite. Sven the cat was really hard to say goodbye to.. I love him! Bjorn and Robert were both very helpful and welcoming. A sweet spot and family.

  • The gnome home was a very cute place and we completely loved staying here. If traveling through the area, we'll definitely stay again. The cat was a huge plus :)

    Missy2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the Gnome Home! Such a cozy little tiny home with a rustic treehouse feel. We were always greeted by sweet Sven the cat in the mornings (there are some treats and food for her in the fridge on the deck). The Bose speakers were also a nice touch!

Just steps away from ocean views and trails, this spacious master bedroom has a private full bathroom and it's own entry from the back deck. The queen size mattress is very comfortable and has soft cotton sheets. Amenities include Netflix, cable tv, WiFi, electronic fireplace, Jacuzzi, towels, a full closet, microwave, filtered drinking water, and a mini-fridge. The Hammond trail and coastal access is just a few minute walk away. Local recommendations for hikes and restaurants are provided.
Our home is clean and modern with a nicely landscaped front and rear yard. We have two dwarf goats (Zucchi and Buzzbee) that help maintain the backyard, as well as ducks and chickens! Note: the goats do not have access to the house, but you are welcome to visit them (shoulder and chest scratchies are their favorite). We advise wearing shoes in the yard to avoid random sharps and goat hooves stepping on your foot (ouch!)
Check out the beautiful Hammond trail just a 5 minute walk away. Great for cycling, sight seeing, and jogging. The neighborhood is quite safe; however, you're encouraged to bring valuables inside- a smart practice anywhere you travel!
  • Beautiful room with a spacious bathroom and closet for the same price as nearby motels--great value! We were able to do some great hikes up the road in Redwood Park. Robert was great!

There are great hiking trails walking distance from his home and he gave fantastic suggestions for where to explore elsewhere. The room was incredibly clean and cozy. Robert is incredibly kind, accommodating, and is great at communicating!

Our newly restored, historic cottage is at the center of our vibrant community. Just two blocks from the Plaza and in close walking distance (5 minutes or less) to the best farmers' market, two natural grocery stores, several cafes, restaurants, a creperie, an excellent independent movie theater, an art store, record and book stores, and within a 10-15 minute walk to Redwood Park and the Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary. This bright, cozy cottage is truly in the heart of downtown Arcata. Come stay!
This one-bedroom cottage has a full, well-equipped kitchen with a Tassimo coffee machine, as well as a French press, and a drip coffee option. We have a full-size sofa bed that folds out and sleeps one adult comfortably, or two small children. (If you have two small children, please just list them as the third adult, and we won't charge you - we've been there!)
Our cottage is situated off the alley behind our house. It is separated from our property by a gate, and it has its own parking spot. We love our alley neighbors! It is a pretty quiet spot, aside from the occasional group chatting as they stroll home from the bar sometimes on weekends, and the garbage truck once a week in the early mornings.
  • Maria cares that you have a wonderful time during your stay. The cottage itself is very welcoming and easy to settle into, and Maria has a very detailed list of all the best places to check out in the area. Would stay here again in a heart beat

  • This place is a must when visiting Humboldt county! It’s centrally located so everything is within walking distance. Maria and Tim have set up the place so nicely and thoughtfully. The house was beautifully decorated, I enjoyed that a lot. I had an amazing, comfortable stay. I will definitely stay again!

  • If you’re staying in this area BOOK THIS PLACE. We fit three people, a couple and a friend, very comfortably in the space. Super walkable to all the cute places in Arcata. We cooked dinner with food from Wildberries market and our whole stay was lovely.

The private room is through the kitchen on the west side overlooking pastures. The room has a super cozy bed, reading chair, and a writing desk with wifi access available. Hot tub access and laundry available upon request. House is rural, surrounded by organic gardens and chicken yard. There are over 50 chickens and ducks, cats, and dogs on property. Pets are welcome however if they chase cats or chickens they will have to be on a leash and supervised while on property.
The property where the room is listed has a rural farm setting while still being close to town. 10 minutes to Arcata/HSU or north Eureka.
  • We appreciate Cris, who went out of her way, in her very busy schedule, to communicate and accommodate our arrival time. The room is open and airy (bigger than it appears in the photo), with a LOVELY, big bathroom. Yes, it's a room in a house, but the entry is through the kitchen and feels very private. Cris was out of the house early, and we were pleasantly on our own to enjoy coffee and delicious farm-fresh eggs for breakfast. We loved the experience of rural Arcata, with chickens and ducks outside the window, and it really WAS only 10 minutes to town.

    Cathy2016-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, Cris makes you feel like family like staying with a good friend, her dogs, cats, etc are very fun to have around She has a great restaurant in town took my teenagers they had a great time excellent food in a little town. Will be back. Thank you for having me. Bill

    Bill2015-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was truely the perfect country/farm getaway! My only regret is that we didn't stay more than one night. We were warmly greeted by Chris' daughter and shown around the kitchen and our room. Our room had a view of the chickens, ducks and geese, as well as some cows playing with each other. We chatted with Chris and her daughter a bit and then relaxed. We decided to go to Chris' restaurant for dinner, as per a recommendation by another Airbnb guest and WOW! It was hands down one of the best meals both my husband and I have ever had! We enjoyed farm fresh eggs and coffee with Chris and her daughter the next morning. All in all a great stay and we DEFINITELY plan to come back (and stay longer) again!

    Misha2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cris was very responsive, nice, and gave us a lot of great suggestions of things to do in the area. Her farm is breathtaking, and all her animals were the best part of the whole trip! All the kitties snuggled with us in the bed where we slept, which it made this such a warm experience. Would definitely recommend staying here!

    Lauren2018-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cris’s place is great! Very clean, convenient location. Cris was very nice and helpful, and the eggs were delicious!

    Vicki2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Cris's place. She was very welcoming and friendly, even offered to cook us dinner. Cute, clean, and comfortable farmhouse. Adorable cats, dogs, and chickens roaming around. A short drive to Arcata town center. Everything was perfect, thanks!

    Morgan2016-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Felt very welcome, and the amenities, such as coffee and fresh eggs, were great! We would come back again.

    Grinnell2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We were in town for a wedding and just crashed for the night but Cris's place was so cute! Her dogs were adorable and though we didn't get a chance to meet her, she was really flexible when we got held up on our journey and arrived much later than expected. It was a wonderful place to end up after a long day of traveling.

  • Hidden Gem is the perfect name. As a woman traveling alone it’s always a bit nerve-racking to go into a man space. Brenton Was a great communicator so I had all the information I needed before getting there. He checked in with me to let me know that he be in late which I appreciated. We actually never ended up seeing each other. The space is just as described and I had a great night sleep.

Comfortable and cozy cottage overlooking a garden space, and shared backyard. Cabin feel with timber framing throughout. Second story open bedroom with queen sized memory foam mattress bed. Fully furnished with futon/sofa bed in the living room, breakfast bar, and small bistro-style table for two. Includes bathroom, shower, washer and dryer. We have recently refurbished and refurnished the entire cottage, so all furniture, including bed and mattress and sofa-bed are brand-new as of June 2017.
This space is perfect for a romantic couple, a small family, friends on a road trip, and everyone in between! With a full kitchen, bathroom, and washer and dryer, almost everyone will find this space accommodating, private and very inviting. We have custom, hand-built this cozy home, and love and care for it well. We invite you to come share it, enjoy it, and also love and care for it like we do.

  • Everything we needed and more! Deanna was an excellent host with great recommendations, communication was quick and easy.

    Brian2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, great stay, no issues with the place. One thing to mention - Adam and Deanna were very upfront and proactive on communicating a couple of the place's quirks: the bathroom has a semi-translucent curtain instead of a door, the downstairs couch is rather small for two people to use in bed mode, and there's an interesting sleeping nook upstairs with bedding available if you want it. Overall, everything they said was completely accurate, so I'd just say to make sure and read their emails closely!

Walk or ride from the Hammond Trail or airport to this separate, spacious part of our home with a private entrance, hot tub, gas stove and master bath. Easy access to the Redwoods, the beach or town - create your own colorful Humboldt experience.
The space includes a large bedroom and another large room that can serve as a couch/hang out/eat room or it can sleep one or two more people. There is a super comfy futon in that room that I will automatically make up if you tell me there will be three or four people total, BUT YOU NEED TO ASK if you need it and there are only two people on the reservation. 2 to 3 guests are perfect here, but 4 is ok if you want to make it work. Guests in the main room will have to pass through the futon room to get to the bathroom. Both rooms have vaulted ceilings and wood floors, and a door between them for privacy. lt's a 30-40 minute bike ride to Trinidad, Arcata or Humboldt State University, or just a 10 minute car drive. Our home makes the perfect portal to begin and end your west coast travels, or to stay for several days as you explore the Redwood Coast. You could spend weeks trying to see all our parks, hike and bike our trails, paddle our rivers and lagoons, sail Humboldt Bay, and anything else you can imagine. Redwood Park, Prairie Creek, Tall Trees, Fern Canyon, Trinidad, etc are all less than an hour away. If you are interested in local art, or anything you see on the walls, some of it is for sale and we can introduce you to the artist and visit their studio.
The neighborhood is nothing fancy, but it's convenient and comfortable The best part is how easy it is to hop on the Hammond and get down to the beach, or get back on Highway 101.
  • Nancy, is a wonderful host! We love her little dog Phoebe. Next time, we will be sure to rent a car. We were lucky to secure one of two uber drivers to get from the airport to Humboldt University. The area is remote. We took a bus from Humboldt Univ. back to Nancy's. People on the bus were super nice and helped us find our way back to Nancy's airbnb. Arcata airport is really small and planes are occasionally delayed or canceled due to inclement weather. We rented a car and drove to Medford, OR to make our connecting flight home. It was a beautiful wild ride (3+hours) through the redwood forest and Grants Pass. We had a great adventure!

    Susan2017-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy was a very welcoming and friendly host. We messaged her on somewhat of a late notice and she responded quickly and dropped what she was doing to make sure everything was in order for our stay. The space was cozy and easy to access. It was in a quite neighborhood, which I consider a plus, and everything allowed us to have our privacy. She got back to us quickly if we had questions and she was very knowledgeable about the area. I would recommend staying with her if you plan on visiting Humboldt county.

    Zachary2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy provided us with a great experience while staying in Humboldt. The property was just as described and immaculate. Nancy is very knowledgeable about Humboldt and she hooked us up with the people and places we needed. While the two rooms are connected to Nancy's living quarters we had plenty of privacy and yet we were welcome into her home to use the kitchen, laundry, and even her computer! I used the hot tub every day (some days twice!) and the thick terry robes were a special treat afterwards. The location is ideal: just off the 101 corridor it is centrally located with the beaches to the north and Arcata and Eureka to the south. The property is less than 5 minutes by car to Clam Beach (also very walkable), 5 minutes to McKinleyville's Central Avenue for dining and groceries, 10 minutes to Arcata and just 2 minutes to the airport. This is a great place to stay and you do not want to pass it up, and once you do stay here you will want to come back!

    Ron2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's place was in a quiet neighborhood just south of the Eureka-Arcata airport. Noise from the airport was not an issue (we didn't hear a single plane) and it was a great base to explore the redwoods. Even though the listing says that 4 people might be a squeeze, we found it quite comfortable. The hot tub was a great bonus and the entire place was extremely clean. Even though we didn't get to meet Nancy until checkout, she was very responsive and helped us prepare in advance for Thanksgiving dinner. I highly recommend Nancy's place and would stay there again if visiting the Eureka area.

    Jermyn2017-11-24T00:00:00Z

Our home is open and airy with hardwood floors, suitable for Yoga and meditation but right in town. Original paintings and custom surfboards decorate the home. A bank of floor to ceiling windows that make up the east wall overlook a beautiful, meditative garden. The house is a 4-minute drive to Highway 101 and Old Town Eureka. Shops and cafes in Henderson Center are a ten minute walk. The Pacific Ocean along the Samoa Peninsula is a 10-minute drive and the majestic Redwoods are nearby.
This is an open and airy home that feels quiet and serene. Light floods through the floor-to-ceiling windows that make up the east wall. The garden beckons.
The home is a ten-minute walk to Henderson Center, a small retail center with shops, cafes, and restaurants. Just a few minutes away by car is Old Town Eureka, the Harbor and Highway 101. The Samoa Peninsula is nearby and the closest surfbreak is just 12 minutes away.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Marek's house. It is very spacious and as described. Very good value for money. It is a very unique and quirky kind of house. With large artwork and wallpaper. It is very retro, with an intetesting house layout. Unfortunately the wifi wasn't working for our stay but Marek was very gracious and quick to respond regarding this issue. Overall a nice place to stay. :)

  • What a cool place! Warm, welcoming, and filled with character. Marek and Jennifer were prompt and gracious hosts. Their home is a spacious and soulful surf/yoga/art pad. The kitchen and bathroom are outdated but extremely clean and well stocked. I wouldnt say this houes is suitable for young children because of some bold and sensual original artwork. It's a perfect place to entertain and relax; the living room and kitchen are cozy and inviting. The space is extremely bright during the day as seen in the posted pitures, but is very dark at night. All in all, we were generally pleased with our visit!

  • Peaceful and quiet home close to many shops and restaurants in Eureka and short drive to Acadia. We didn’t spend much time here but easily could have spent our whole stay at the house, it’s a very relaxing abode.

    Nick2017-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • A space with a lot of character!

    Gwen2018-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is as it appears in the pictures. It is very spacious with a welcoming bouquet of flowers and chocolate bar. We greatly appreciated having the washer and dryer as we had a bottle break in luggage on our way here. It is very easy yo get to everything from the house.

    Michelle2018-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! Part time machine (a mid century charmer with the wallpaper to whisk you back in time). The wall of windows greets you, inviting you immediately into a secret garden to explore all the special touches and hidden worlds. Well equiped home with everything you need to relax, unwind, laugh and play a game, watch an old movie, make a steaming cup of tea or three. Convenient location to the redwoods and coast, as well as the highway. The house is easy to find and access. The art is remarkable! The beds are comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet and safe. The hosts are communicative and helpful and provided a long extensive list of tips on the area. We got some food to go from a local brewery, which was quite busy for a week night. The town has several options though or make use of the well equiped kitchen.

  • Such an unexpected gem. My friends and I were looking for a place to stay on the way to Redwood park, and came across Marek And Jennifer's place. It looked amazing and I honestly thought it wouldn't be as nice, but the pictures don't even do it justice. I wish we had more time to spend there! The space is HUGE, airy, sunny, with a beautiful garden and comfy sofas and beds. The fireplace is real, and our hosts had kindly left us wood for a fire and some excellent coffee, along with fresh flowers and a chocolate bar. The vibes of the places are soothing and chill, and it's somewhere I would love to come back to and just spend time in. It's a beautiful, unique and special home, and I'm glad we got the chance to stay. If you're looking for just a functional place to sleep, you won't appreciate the uniqueness of this home. If you love special places, stay here!

  • Very nice spot! The apartment is very comfortable, free street parking right out front, a huge bed, and I loved the reclining chair in the living room :). Great location, just a 10 minute walk or so to all the downtown restaurants. Ray and Darline had an endless supply of tips from where to eat to what to do. I wish I had stayed longer!

  • Ray and Darline's place was great! It was a very unique layout and was fun staying there. The apartment is walking distance to Lost Coast Brewery and the Carson Mansion and a great central location. They had great recommendations of what to do, see, and where to eat around the area. It was a fantastic experience for us as it was our first time staying at an Airbnb. I would definitely stay with them again and would recommend their place to others.

Welcome to a piece of history. This is an old Victorian that I am working on restoring! You will have access to your own private guest suite that is attached to the main house but is completely locked off with a separate entrance. Inside there is a queen bed, a shower with a separate toilet room, a kitchenette that you will find stocked with coffee and tea and an electric tea kettle. Also a large tv with Netflix above a nice electric fireplace for added ambience.
Also, if golf is your game this is the place for you with a less then 5 minute walk from the Mckinleyville beau pre golf club. It is 3 minute drive to the airport and within 7 minutes from Arcata, where there is shopping and a quirky town and the famous Humboldt state University and within 10 minutes from beautiful Trinidad where some of the most beautiful beaches stand amongst the rugged coastline and towering trees.
  • This unit is quite charming, dolled up with Victoriana, a four-poster bed, completely private setting, and oh-so-quiet. Brian has created a delightful offering that suited us really well. We spent our days out visiting redwood parks, then came back for relaxation and comfort. Brian checked in with us frequently via text to be sure all was fine and to see if there was anything needed - true hospitality. He guided us to Moonstone Beach for our first night and offered any other assistance we might need. After we had made the reservation, we remembered that many people use perfumed detergents for linens. We are allergic to the stuff, and I emailed ahead asking Brian what he uses. I suggested a brand of detergent that is fragrance-free, and he eagerly complied. We deeply appreciate his willingness to meet our unique needs. Kudos all around, Brian!

  • Beautiful area and great accommodations. The studio is exactly as it looks in the photos.

  • Brian's place was really cool and super well taken care of. Super clean, well stocked with the essentials and very nicely decorated. It is in a restored old Victorian house that was so cool to stay in especially with all the modern amenities Brian has put in there. It was in a great location (just a short drive to downtown) and Brian gave us some great recommendations for things to do and places to eat at. He was super responsive with any questions and seemed to really care about our stay there. We would go back anytime and recommend it anyone! Thanks Brian!!

  • When searching for hotels near HSU we came across some decent ones that were quite pricey, just when I was about to book one we came across this studio. It is everything it describes, it has all the amenities you need and is quite spacious. The room was very clean and neat and contained little things such as local recommendations that made our trip so much smoother and exciting. As for the location it is basically around the corner from the ACV airport which makes it super convenient and is also no more than a 5 minute drive from food places/stores. We absolutely loved our experience and are thankful for our host being beyond attentive and responding consistently. Thank you to our host!

    Paola2018-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The space was cute, clean, and stylish, and it was nice having a kitchen and private entrance. The only reason I did not give the space a 5 star review was because the room was a little stuffy.

Our home is an historic farmhouse built by one of Arcata's earliest settlers, Isaac Minor, in 1862. We are on a 2 acre parcel surrounded by a working farm and a small horse ranch. We have a large garden and multiple fruit trees. Our home is divided such that the area we are renting is separate from our living quarters and has a separate entrance. We have a large field out front for games and multiple decks for lounging with a coffee. We welcome all ethnic and spiritual backgrounds.
The bedroom has a very comfortable futon couch which folds out into a full size bed. There is adjoining private bathroom and the room has a microwave, kettle, keurig, and refrigerator. There are dishes provided that I will wash for you as needed. There is a common room with a table and chairs and a toaster oven for your use. There is also a gas grill with a side burner on the deck for you to use if needed. The common room will be shared if the other suite is rented. The two suites are separate and private from each other and each has its own private bathroom
It is pastoral setting surrounded on 3 sides by farmland. There is a residential neighborhood directly across the street from our driveway.
  • Joan's Airbnb experience is the best experience I have has using Airbnb. We absolutely loved our stay from start to finish, so much so we didn't want to leave! She provided so much local information, perfect recommendations for the Redwoods and for local amenities (go to Mad River Brewery for a good night out!). The room itself had more provided for us than any Airbnb we've stayed in on our roadtrip so far. This place is just perfect, and Joan and her family are even more so.

    Amber2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • My three night stay in Joan's home was fantastic. She touched base with me a few days before arrival to be sure I didn't need directions (I didn't, her house was easy to find). She lives on the north side of Arcata in a very quiet area. The guest room was at a private end of the house but it was easy to get ahold of Joan if anything was needed. The bed (a futon) was very comfortable - that's what I often sleep on at home - and everything was clean. There were some light snacks, a coffee and tea maker and a small refrigerator with coffee creamer and a few drinks. The shared area also had a toaster oven and there was a gas grill on the guest porch. She even had a bottle of wine for guests! The house is back a driveway off the road and I was able to park right next to the house. There was a private entrance shared with another guest, but I had my own bathroom. Joan thoughtfully had a notebook with maps to various local attractions as well as menus for many of the restaurants in Arcata. I spent lots of time at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Refuge, which is only a short drive away. She said she was fairly new at being an Airbnb host but I thought everything was perfect. It was easy to get to Eureka and other parts of the area. I enjoyed visiting with Joan while I was there and wish I had planned to spend more time in Arcata as there are lots of things to see. I highly recommend staying with Joan if you're in the Arcata or Eureka area.

  • Perfect 1 bedroom place. Great for a home base when your exploring or visiting.

    Cody2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Joan’s place was everything described and more. The farmhouse and property were lovely and spacious. Parking was a breeze and the space was full of thoughtful touches like coffee (even decaf!), snack, books, games and more. But what really made the stay perfect was Joan herself. She made a difficult time (leaving my daughter for her first year of college) more bearable by being a kind ear and a friendly smile. She has a perfect sense of how much interaction a guest wants and was quick to offer wonderful suggestions for the area. I can’t wait to come back and stay again!

  • Arcata was a nice stop at our road trip. We had a wunderful stay at Joan's place. Nice and beautiful room in a very peaceful environment! Joan did everything to make us feel at home. We would highly recommend this place!

Minutes from local beaches, where you can walk, run, surf and even climb. The Hammond trail is down the road and perfect for biking. Arcata is 10 minutes away and the airport is 2 minutes. With some advance notice, I am happy to pick you up. The location is in a quiet residential neighborhood, where you'll be greeted by Kali cat and a garden primed for bike tuning, grilling and cocktails. Perfect getaway to the Redwoods! My place is good for couples, solo adventurers and business travelers.
Your bedroom is newly decorated and offers access to your renovated guest bathroom. Both were done with refurbished pieces, pallets, stenciling and fun accents. There's a small electrical fire place to keep you cozy. The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood, with a large garden and a very affectionate fluffy cat who enjoys having her belly rubbed. Easy highway and airport access, quick ride to the Hammond trail and beautiful beaches near by. You are ideally situated to drive to the Redwood National Park, or head south to Arcata, Eureka and the Victorian town of Ferndale.
The Redwood Coast is the #1 travel destination in 2018! https://www.visitredwoods.com/articles/post/lonely-planet-california-redwood-coast-top-us-destination/ The ocean is a short walk, bike or drive away. Within 10 minutes you can be in Arcata and 45 minutes will get you to the entrance of the Redwood National Park. Rock climbing is available at Moonstone beach 10 minutes away. Mountain biking trails are right next door, with some more trails 10 minutes away. McKinleyville is a residential area with basic amenities, a dog park, and a golf course. There's a large natural food store 5 minutes away and a popular brewery down the road.
  • Gen is a perfect host who is fun, warm and welcoming. Staying with Gen (and Kali-cat) is definitely the highlight of our trip. This was a truly incredible place to stay; my husband and I had an amazing time there. Gen's place is clean, well organized, thoughtfully designed and maintained. Gen provided anything we need during the stay including useful travel tips. This is definitely an outstanding accommodation which has a perfect location if you plan to travel to Redwood national and state parks. Highly recommended!

  • Gen is an excellent host & her space is great for those looking to do some exploring in the Humboldt region. The place was quiet and well equipped. She also offered a number of recommendations on locations for outdoor activities, maps, and other literature that proved to be very helpful for someone who came in without doing too much planning. I'd definitely stay again on my next trip.

  • Staying with Gen (and Kali) felt like visiting with an old friend. She was wonderful. My boyfriend and I stayed over on our way up the Vancouver. He had been to Arcata a few times so he knew the town fairly well, but Gen was able to add an entirely new level of depth to our hiking and nature driving experience. We had a great night in the yard drinking wine and chatting over the fire then had a amazing hike along the coast and into Fern Canyon. On our way out we were headed to Crater Lake then Bend, Or. Gen suggested a scenic route through the Siskiyou mountains that was absolutely breathtaking. Thanks!!!

  • I had a wonderful time staying at the Mckinleyville house. I was on the last leg of a redwood tour and Genevieve was very helpful with providing information and of places to see. The house was very cozy and the bed was especially comfortable. It was nice to have a host to conversate with and with knowledge of the local hot spots including Arcatada and Eureka. The only thing I regretted about my stay is I didn't have more time! Thank you Genvieve.

This place was exactly as described, and as I expected. Nice place in a scenic setting. Most things that we'd need in a typical day in terms of cooking and toiletries were in place. We went with a baby, and there was even a crib there. Tom was a great host, definitely looking for another visit here.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was very special to experience a little farm life, even for a short time. We were greeted with a loaf of french bread and fresh eggs (which made a tasty breakfast). We woke up to a rooster crowing. The unit was clean and very tastefully decorated and the kitchen was well stocked! We only wished we could have stayed longer!

Nora's place was great! I didn't get a chance to meet her because I arrived late in the evening, but it was easy to check in and the place was very welcoming. Eureka seems like a quiet and beautiful town. I hope to visit again!

As an airbnb Superhost who tends to have pretty high expectations for places we stay while traveling, I recommend Elizabeth's Garden Bungalow heartily and without hesitation. This place is beautiful! Tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and super private, this unique Eureka property (on a huge lot!) is a happy little hideaway that has everything you could need. Our thoughtful host left us wine, coffee and cookies on our cute kitchenette counter, and though we never met Elizabeth, she made sure we knew that she was right next door if we needed anything at all. The bathroom was surprisingly large and well-appointed, with lovely soap, shampoo and lotion. Next door to the bungalow was a super cool detached dining room that we were welcome to use. A cute little deck off the bungalow overlooked a private backyard area and led out to THE MOST WONDERFUL OUTDOOR SHOWER! What a treat! We absolutely loved this place and hope very much to stay again in the future!

Captain Doby was very friendly. He was there to welcome us aboard and clearly explained everything we needed to know. The convenience of having a restaurant within walking distance, the peacefulness of the water, and watching the birds were added bonuses.
