Mustafa&Mohammad
From Mustafa&Mohammad's guidebook
Excavations have uncovered signs of human occupation from as far back as the Middle Bronze Age (1650-1550 BCE) in the form of a tomb that held pottery and scarab seals.[1] During the Iron Age, the Citadel was the site of the capital of the Ammonites, which was known as "Rabbah" or "Rabbath Ammon". The Amman Citadel Inscription comes from this period, and is considered to be the oldest known inscription in the Ammonite language, written in the Phoenician Alphabet.[9] From the Hellenistic Period, there were not many architectural changes, but pottery provides evidence for their occupation.[1] The site became Roman around 30 BCE, and eventually came under Muslim rule in 661 CE.[10] The Citadel declined in importance under Ayyubid rule in the 13th century, but a watchtower was added to the site during this period.

Omar
From Omar's guidebook
Amman Citadel dates back to the Bronze Age; over the course of a near-4,000-year history, it’s been occupied by the Byzantines, Persians, Romans and Greeks. This makes it the cultural heart of the city: a rich convergence of architectural wonders. The most iconic fixture is the ruined Temple of Hercules, built during the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius (161-180 CE); the giant stone hand there is a reminder of Ancient Rome’s pristine craftsmanship. Also visit Umayyad Palace – an eighth-century royal complex with a restored, domed entrance chamber – and the Jordan Archaeological Museum, which houses 6,000-year-old statues and one of the legendary Dead Sea Scrolls.

Wael
From Wael's guidebook
Towering above the capital city of Amman on a hill is the Amman Citadel. This historic site comprises a 1700 meter wall that dates back to the Bronze Age, the iconic Temple of Hercules, and the Umayyad Palace. With so many significant landmarks located one site, the Amman Citadel is arguably one of the best places to visit in Amman.

From Mustafa&Mohammad's guidebook
The Roman Amphitheatre is located in the eastern part of the Jordanian capital, Amman. It is specifically at the foot of Jabal Al-Joufah, on a hill opposite the Amman Citadel. A Greek inscription on one of the pillars indicates that this amphitheater was built in honour of Emperor Antoninus Pius. The large and steeply raked structure could seat about 6,000 people: built into the hillside, it was oriented north to keep the sun off the spectators.

Omar
From Omar's guidebook
Built during the reign of Antonius Pius in 138-161CE, the Roman Amphitheatre today finds itself in the thick of downtown Amman. It’s a much-celebrated landmark, often used to host popular concerts and other cultural events thanks to a mighty capacity of no less than 6,000. While you are here, take time to explore both the nearby Jordan Folklore Museum and the Nymphaeum: a Roman public fountain that is still in terrific condition.

Fadi
From Fadi's guidebook

A must visit while in Amman. located next to the City Hall, it is one of the best in the Middle East. Highlights include the oldest-known human statues (the spookily modern 9500-year-old plaster mannequins of Ain Ghazal), Jordan's share of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and a host of remains from Petra and surrounds.
