Loved it location and the place itself isn't too shabby at all. Close to everything as well as warm and comfy. Joey's very approachable.
November 2011Good location, close to mission and not too far up the hill. Parking was crowded but still manageable within a few blocks. Skeeball was awesome.
Me and a friend stayed here for 15 days. We affectionately gave it the nickname `skeeball hut`. Great neighborhood, parking, 10 minute walk to mission and the 24th street BART station. Joey is a great host.
Great apartment in a great part of SF. Close to the hopping Mission, but on a quiet, tree-lined street in idyllic Bernal Heights. And Skeeball! Yes, a full tournament-quality Skeeball rig right in the kitchen. Joey is a fantastic host. Very flexible with timing. Would happily stay at his place again.
The host canceled my reservation 4 days before arrival.
Great experience. Joey was helpful, answered the many questions I had being in the city for the first time. Also stayed up late to answer questions I had about the technical guts of the skeeball machine, which was fascinating. The place has a Lockatron setup which is convenient, no rendezvous for the key, just email. Was almost worth it to play around with that. I ate at Noeteca nearby for lunch, which was a standout experience.
Joey is a regular SF rockstar and all around righteous dude. His place is in a beautiful neighborhood and would be great for any anti-tourist type, rife with opportunities to explore some of hippest and most culturally interesting parts of the city. Highly recommended!
Joey is a warm and friendly host. He brought me to a startup event, took me to a fantastic restaurant, and taught me how to roll 100s on his skeeball machine (when I had previously had trouble consistently staying above 10). We also had a lot of fun cruising on his scooter through San Francisco, which was a highlight of my stay with him. Staying on his couch/the other logistical parts of a night at Joey's was fine - note that this is not the place to go if you are looking for fancy digs. You... More »
My stay with Joey was fantastic! I had just moved to San Francisco, and needed a base to settle in. The place is really cute and well kept. I cooked a few great meals in the kitchen, which is fully stocked with great tools. The couch is very comfortable, and despite my being 6ft3, I slept very well on it. Joey is a wonderful host, and he helped with directions, a ride on his way, and just good company. I had a friend visit and we all ended up bumping some good tunes and playing... More »
joey was a great host. very friendly, funny, all around good guy and was very flexible with me since i ended up extending my stay there last minute because i wasn't sure of my plans. i mainly traveled by bus while i was there which was a close walk and can get you wherever you need to go. convenient little store/laundromat/coffee shops are right across the street and a nice park is right there too. must go up to bernal hts park to see the view of the city from the top if you choose to stay... Staying Joey’s place was really nice and comfort! When I arrived bart near his place, he came there to pick me up. He was really generous and helpful as many people reviewed. The location is also very nice. I could use bus easily. (it takes less 5min by walk) I had to cancel 1night cause I could stay at my friend’s home, and He understood that and make me feel free. He gave information and tip whenever I need some help. He is fun, easygoing and just very nice guy. Thank you Joey!! You were... More »
Joey The Cat is legendary. He singlehandedly upped my skee ball game from sub 20's to high 20's. Dude is a champion. Couch was a nice place to sleep. Apartment was always clean, and Joey is a super generous and helpful guy. A great welcoming to San Francisco! Thanks Joey!
It was just AWESOME at joey's. He is a generous Person, makes you feel at Home immediately. He took me to a costume Party AND a Music festival. NICE! He lives in a quiet Area, just the fridge is a bit noisy... I enjoyed SF, thanks!
staying with joey was awesome. his place is in a great location - very close to the bart, good cafes, and a laundromat. he extended invitations, and offered rides. such a nice guy with a real comfy couch. AND a skeeball machine?! i think that says it all...
I had a very pleasant stay at Joey's. It's not too far from a bus stop and BART station. Couch is fairly comfy. Skeeball machine = awesomeness. Very nice host. Would stay again during my next sf trip.
Easy-going, fun, upbeat, energetic, and crazy in the good way. He's got really cool friends and is good about introducing you to people. It seems he's the social network for SF, haha, I would meet random people who knew him. He's so cool and popular there's a J Mucha imposter on Twitter too! I also picked up a few tips on how to play skeeball better, though I am currently beating him in scrabble right now...but he's catching up fast..ah!! Tip: Don't go wandering around the Mission... Joey's a fun guy, generous with everything he has, and takes his skee ball seriously (I caught him asleep on the machine my last night - this man has DEDICATION). He went out of his way to be accommodating, from the nice cushy pillows and blankets, to an after-work beer, to offering rides and bikes (which I didn't end up needing), to inviting me to a couple parties and events (which I definitely did need). He made this the ultimate Airbnb experience by actually introducing me to the Airbnb... More »
Joey was a great host and a pleasure to hang out with. To start off, we met at his apartment at the arranged time and first on the agenda was learning how to play skee-ball in his living room. That night, he invited me to a weekly tournament (part of the skeeson) and I had a blast being introduced to the world of competitive skee-ball and hanging with him and his teammates. We got back to his pad and chatted for a little before it was bed time. The couch came equipped with a pillow, bed... More »
Joey is really an awesome host! He picked me up from the bus station and was ready to give a ride to BART station, when I was leaving. He`s cool to hang out with and drink whiskey! Skeeball machine is even more fun than you expect. The apartment is in nice neighborhood, easy to get to downtown and just great to walk around. And the couch is very comfortable. I`d definitely stay at his place again!
Joey was a great host, extremely friendly from the get go. Seems to be well entangled in the SF startup scene, so you're sure to meet some fun personalities if you hang out with him. I'd definitely rent out the couch again. Be sure to ask him if his skeeball machine is available though; he sometimes rents it out, so you may be disappointed.
Joey's place was a nice place to stay. I like the area, it is easy to get to fun places and I am happy about the accomadations. Thank You.
Joey (the Cat) is an awesome dude! I really can recommend his place. It's very close to the 24th/Mission Bart. If you're involved in startups, this is your choice. I met a lot of other cool people through Joey. Stay with him.
Joey the Cat was a legendary Airbnb host, and his persona will go down in Airbnb history as one of the most memorable in our community. I slept on the skeeball machine for part of my first night, but I shoulders were too broad, and I decided to move to the couch (they should seriously redesign these machines for sleeping). The best part of the stay was not the apartment, though it was totally adequate. Joey the Cat has star quality, and staying with him is an adventure that anyone, especially... More »
Simply put, Joey is a really nice guy and the place is great. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, the corner's coffee shop is also the best place to hang out in the morning. And as Josue said, you have to climb the Bernal Hill at least once!
Excellent guy, very good place, close to San Francisco, and very easy to get to any turistic spot. The park at the top of the hill is GREAT!
