If there were more than 5 stars to rate a host, Marie-Do would deserve them! I had only a day to sample Corsica and Marie-Do took me under her wing and showed me an amazing time in Bastia & Cap Corse. We drove the scenic roads overlooking the ocean and visited centuries-old fortresses stopping for lunch along the way. Her lovely home is very clean & comfortable and has a great view of the port from her balcony - we had a wonderful time with her English club that evening sampling local... More »

Where do I even start?! We had such a wonderful stay with Marie-Do, she is an amazing host and a fabulous ambassador for Corsica. She took us around places on the island we wouldn't have got to on our own, and we got a culture, food and history briefing as well. It was a fabulous trip, we wished we had stayed longer (but make sure you arrive well rested, it'll be a full visit!). Staying with Marie Dominique was the best decision we made in coming to Corsica. She was very hospitable, our rooms were comfortable, and her apartment was a great home base to explore the rest of the island from. But most importantly, she willingly helped us at every turn and shared aspects of her Corsican culture. Marie Dominique was the best host we ever had, either through airbnb or any other stay anywhere in the world. She picked us up from the ferry, she took us out to a corsican food sampling, than she actually made dinner for us, and showed us around Bastia. And that was only the first four hours of our stay!!!!! Marie Dominique is more of a superhost than other actual super hosts we stayed with and airbnb needs to give her a superhost badge! Marie Dominique was a wonderful hostess! If you are going to visit Bastia, you have two choices: You could stay in a hotel. OR, you can stay with someone like Marie, who provides a wonderful experience, a great room, real local Corsican food, and maybe even a lesson in Corsican history! We were lucky enough to join her English club for an evening, where we talked with locals and fellow travelers and enjoyed Corsican wines and foods. Never stay in a hotel!!!

Marie Dom was a resourceful and charming host. Once you get over the view it really isn't far to walk from Marie Dom's place down to the station or the village centre or back up. Public transport is much less available than it might be, however, not taking you far enough and not allowing you to get back easily if you do travel more than 20 or so kilometers from Bastia. Having said that, I really enjoyed my adventures, and misadventures in Corsica and recommend it to others.

Marie-Do is a fantastic host - she went above and beyond to welcome us in Corsica, in Bastia, and was simply one awesome person to stay with on a personal level. She's got a ton of knowledge, resources, ideas, and tips about Corsica, which she so enthusiastically shared with us... and I just loved the bits of conversation we shared during our short stay with her. It's experiences like this one that are the reason I love traveling so much!

Marie-Dominique was such a great host. I wish I had more time with her because i only stayed at her place for 3 days and 2 nights, and of that time I only saw her for about a day. But regardless, she was able to take care of me by providing a beautiful place to stay in with some great dining opportunities, and introducing me to a friend who cared for me while she couldn't.
