We are easy going, world travelers who welcome you to our Bremerton abode.
Mike is the founder of a software company as well as an outdoors organization, Venture Outdoors, and is an avid mountain climber. He has summitted Denali, Mt. Elbrus, Mt. Vinson (Antarctica), Kilimanjaro, Cotopaxi, and Washington's Mt. Rainier, to name but a few. If you plan on hiking Mt. Rainier, feel free to "talk mountain".
Anne is a photographer and fiber artist who bakes artisan bread in her spare time. She is happy to take budding photographers on local photo walks. If you want to learn how to bake sourdough breads, just say the word!
We both love the outdoors, foreign films, the NY Times, a good book, a glass of wine, and a nice roaring fire.
Great place! Very private and right on the water! Kayaking is fun. Anne is very nice. Will probably be coming back soon!
February 2012As lovely as their home looks, both in pictures and when visiting, it's difficult to imagine a place as calm and peaceful being so close to the highway. All of the "features" of urban sprawl that one encounters in Bremerton seem barely noticeable in Anne and Mike's idyllic bungalow at Oyster Bay. If you are visiting friends or relatives on the peninsula, traveling to other cities on the coast and want somewhere that is easy to get to from SeaTac, this is a great location. Though I did... The home is as picturesque as in the website. We have no trouble finding the place, which is a short distance from the freeway. The dining area overlooks the bay and one early morning, we actually saw 5 seals resting on a floating platform (a record for seal-spotting!!!) Anne our host was really kind, getting our daughters' favorite cereal for breakfast. Tony's pizza, just around the corner to Weslon Pl, serves some really great pizza. If you like cats, and there are three really curious... More »
As long as Anne and Mike are here...I won't stop renting this place. Their retreat keeps getting better. Don't let Bremerton scare you, you will forget it is even there after walking around the manicured walkways, sitting on the covered porch looking over the bay or taking a quick paddle to stir up the normally COMPLETELY STILL water. Normally people travel across the ocean to see Oysters, Starfish and other water life ... come here instead.
What a wonderful experience. The location is magnificent and roomy, and right on a small ocean bay. Anne allowed me to use her kayaks, and I was surrounded by jellyfish (it turned out to be breeding season). Anne had lots of goodies on hand. She is one of the most interesting people I have met in my travels, and her joy for life is not only obvious but contagious as well!
This was a fantastic experience. We felt like we were at home. Anne was great and made us feel very comfortable, but not hoovering. Anne gave us information about the area and had a lot of written information on hand about Seattle and other areas in Washington, but let us explore on our own. We would highly recommend you come and experience life on Oyster Bay while staying in this beautiful home. We will definitely see if this home is available should we pass through Seattle in the... We had a great time! The weather was beautiful, kayaking was amazing, the kitties were sweet, the hammock was comfy, the oysters & clams were tasty, the place was cozy and clean, and Anne is the best hostess! Thank you for the awesome weekend!
This place is stunning! My husband and I stayed for several nights before and after our camping trip into Olympic National Park. We used the washer and dryer (soap and softener included!) which was quite handy. The ferry into Seattle was free going and $6 coming back, and if you are over 65 you get it for 1/2 price! The ferry was a good way to get a look at the city and the surroundings while relaxing - it took about an hour one way. All the over abundant food was organic and fresh. We... More »
Anne and Mike's apartment was our first experience with airbnb and we couldn't have asked for a better one. From being patient with us after we got on the wrong ferry at first to providing tasty breakfast items to the kayak access and lessons, the whole experience was incredible. I would recommend the place to anyone wanting a taste of the outdoors with a short hop over to the main city.
This is a stellar location and lovely accommodations. Comfortable and clean with many thoughtful touches including breakfast fixings and beverages. A great view from the back patio and easy access to paddling, as wll as beautiful feline friends to add to the ambiance. Highly recommended. Thanks Anne!
Oh ya... this is the place to be! We loved our stay here and plan to go back. I have been telling everyone about Oyster Bay Bungalow as well as airbnb. We kayaked each morning and sat down by the water in the evenings. Anne was so generous from the very beginning; from getting back to me right away, to stocking the suite with special food, to giving us lot's of privacy to where it felt as if we were the only ones there. I really liked that she took time to go around and show us the... More »
My husband and I stayed at Oyster Bay Bungalow for our 1st Anniversary. We had such a wonderful time, we didn't want to leave! It was a perfect get-away. We even even got to see a seal on the dock the morning we left. Anne was an incredible host, so hospitable and helpful. We would most definitely recommend this place to others. We would go back in a heartbeat. Thank Anne (and Mike) for opening up your home, we had fantastic time! ~The Arnold
We had an excellent stay at Anne & Mike's. The room, which was actually a complete apartment, was very spacious, and filled with lots of goodies. Being able to walk out the apartment to the bay in the morning was also a treat. We would certainly stay again.
Our Oyster Bay Bungalow experience was everything we hoped for and more. Anne is an amazing hostess - providing fruit, wine, and an excellent assortment of breakfast foods; guide books/directions to local attractions. The apartment was cozy-comfortable and clean. We had an amazing view and access to the Sound (with kayaks!). And Oyster Bay is a beautiful, secluded spot in Bremerton - very quiet and peaceful, yet close to everything. We really enjoyed our stay!
We stayed with Mike & Anne during our honeymoon week and I can't think of a better place to have spent it! They are great people, wonderful to talk with and really try to make your stay as pleasant and fun as possible. Thank you for the bread and kayak lessons and for making our honeymoon so incredibly special!
Anne and Mike are generous, warm, and gracious hosts who go well beyond expectations to make your stay in the Seattle area a memorable one. The kitchen is well stocked for breakfast and even included a welcoming gift of wine. Kayaks were available although we did not have time to use them. Anne is well informed about the area attractions and has books, maps etc. available to help plan your visit. This is a most comfortable home with all the privacy you want. Outdoor deck, beach and chairs... More »
We had a wonderful experience with our first accomodation booked via Airbnb. Anne is such a gracious, thoughtful, and generous host. The day of our arrival, Anne dropped off some grocercies for us and mentioned "I don't know if you like milk or soymilk so I got you both!" We booked this property based on all the positive reviews and we couldn't agree more. The property is so serene and the view is breathtaking. Our 6 yr old and 3 yr old were with us and after our arrival home, they kept... More »
Fantastic spot. The apartment was perfect, the bed very comfy. Our 2 daughters slept in the adorable cabin closer to the water and loved it. Anne was very helpful with everything. We missed out on kayaking, but had a wonderful walk on the beach, which has oysters and seals early morning. Highly recommend!
Had a great time staying at Anne & Mikes. This was my first experience with airbnb and it won't be my last. Anne was a great host! I couldn't have asked for more. She gave me great advice on where to go and things to see and do.. We spent 2 days there and visited alot of cute little towns surrounding Brementon. If I ever go back yo this area I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Anne was so great! We never got to meet Mike because he was working out of state, but Anne was so conversational and gracious. She always stopped by when she got home at night to chat and hang with us for a few minutes. Just a great spot to stay! This place will blow your mind. It's so scenic and wonderfully easy to get to the ferry into Seattle. It's literally just up the road. We will definitely stay here again at some point. Thanks again, Anne!
Anne was an amazing host. She had a bottle of wine for us, a stocked fridge, free kayak usage on our own private beach. Logs ready for our own bech fire. Such a cozy and wonderful place. I could say more, but the more I say makes this oasis less of a secret.
Fellow gypsy travellers: You can't do better than a night or two at Anne and Mike's place! Such gracious hosts in a georgous setting. We absolutle loved our stay. Very clean and cozy room, wonderfully stocked with goodies and even kyaking out the back door! The grounds were so beautiful we chose to sleep under the stars lakeside on our hosts blow up bed. Highlight of our visit to Seattle. You'll be lucky to book a weekend with Mike and Anne. Fred and Delilah Jones Portland Oregon
What a gorgeous place! When the four of us piled out of the car and meandered down the flower engulfed pathway, little did we know the adventures we would find at Anne and Mike's bungalow. The first thing I did was grab my camera and begin snapping pictures of the great landscaping: the small alcoves of private space which all had great views of the bay, lots of comfortable places to read and a beautiful variety of flowers in full bloom. Anne was extremely welcoming. She and Mike had just... More »
This was my first experience with a “Bed and Breakfast”and did not know what to expect, however it was like visiting my sister. It was like Anne and Mike vacated their apartment and we took over where they left off. As they state in their profile they are laid back. We stayed in the lower story of the house which had a kitchenette, a living area, a queen bed section and a... More »
Our stay with Anne was great - just not enough time! One morning early, I enjoyed watching 3 frisky otters playing in the bay. Anne was a gracious host and made sure we had everything we needed. The view from the terrace is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The cats befriended us immediately and became part of our family. Even the resident... More »
Beyond expectations in every way. Anne was a great host and her home is comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed our stay.
I'm amazed that a place like this exists and I can't thank Anne enough for sharing the experience with me and my friend who were traveling in Washington. We had a fantastic stay, and in one day, we managed to kayak, cook, explore the aquatic life footsteps from the house, and share some great conversations with our host. Anne provided everything we needed to enjoy the time and helped us whenever we had a question. This place is a once in a lifetime opportunity, but you'll want to go back for... More »
We booked a stay at the Oyster Bay Bungalow to celebrate our one year anniversary and it was the best vacation! This location is everything that it promises to be. Anne is listed as a super host but that is an understatement. We rode the ferry to Seattle, kayaked the inlet, dug for oysters and clams on the beach, relaxed on the patio and saw a seal on the dock. Our stay was a great mix of relaxation and adventure!!!!
Our experience with Anne was better than anything we could have dreamed! Anne was so flexible, kind, accommodating and interesting - it felt like we had known each other as friends before we even arrived in Bremerton, and we certainly parted as good friends. My husband and I cannot wait to return someday, and we have highly recommended the Oyster Bay Bungalow to all of our friends who live in the Seattle area as a getaway place, and to any of our friends who might travel to the area in the... We had a very nice stay. Anne was an awesome host. The kitchen was generously stocked and we arrived to a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers. The view was amazing, as was the kayaking. Anne was very patient with us, getting everything together for us to go out kayaking in the bay. There is a lot to see and do in the Bremerton area and up the coast. The ferry ride to Seattle was nice too.
Can I say enough amazing things about Anne? She was such a fantastic host, really went above and beyond. She is also fun, warm, and inviting while still respecting your private space. And she also has some fantastic, friendly kitties around, that were willing to keep me company - a bonus I didn't expect! The space itself was fantastic, nice amount of room, tons of movies to watch, a stocked kitchen, and a lovely view. I really enjoyed going down by the water to sit at the little gazebo... More »
We came to the Oyster Bay Bungalow as tourists and left as friends! What stands out in my mind about Anne was her thoughtfulness. After our arrival, and hearing of my wife’s love of chocolate, Anne made a special trip to the store and brought back choc bars and red wine. She even picked up some cold medicine after hearing one of us had a cold. The back yard is spectacular. We relaxed by the water, built a fire and roasted s’mores while enjoying wine, cheese and crackers. During low... More »

We also saw many different colored giant starfish too! We took the kayaks out and paddled around the bay and its just a lovely, quiet and beautiful setting they we thoroughly enjoyed. Anne and Mike were amazing! They prepared an easter egg hunt for my son's on their property Sunday afternoon and then giving us tools to dig for clams as we walked through their back yard down to the ocean. We typically stay in hotel chains but found this experience so much more memorable. Hotel mints on pillows... More »
We could not have asked for more. Anne treated us like family from the moment we met, right down to pick-ups & drop-offs, and made sure we didn't lack anything (including stocking the fridge and leaving the New York Times on the table for me). The accomodation is exactly what you want in a get-away: a brilliant library, a stack of DVD's, cosy bed, and a view down the garden to the bay. I kayaked out at low tide, and saw star-fish, wild geese and much more. We were fortunate enough to share a... More »
We had a very relaxing weekend, just what we wanted. Plenty of clams on the beach at low tide. Anne was a gracious host who helped me cross kayaking off my bucket list. Thanks once again
Absolutely fabulous place in a wonderful location. Anne could not have been more accomodating and I look forward to returning in warmer weather. Thank you, Cynthia
We stayed at Anne & Mikes in early March 2011. We loved the place. Anne was very nice and made us feel welcome and right at home. The bed was very comfortable, there was plenty of hot water for showers. Anne made sure there was plenty of coffee. We connected to the internet through their fast WIFI. Their place as a WONDERFUL view of the water. We walked down to their shore to watch the ducks. It was just very beautiful and peaceful, very quiet, yet not far from several restaurants... More »
This was a magical place to stay. Only minutes from the Seattle/Bremerton ferry dock, it would easily be worth going over from the city for just one night. Something about the stylish, yet unpretentious vibe, makes you wanna get on a long plane ride and go soak up some of the world. I have no doubt that Anne and Mike would be fun socially if that was what you were searching for, but they also know how to set you about your business if you have come to accomplish something. I feel like... More »
As always, The Oyster bay bungalow offered the a serene envionment while being a ferry ride away from the business part of my trip. While I was unable to spend quality time on the beach, I was able to meet Mike and Anne in Paulsbo for some great authentic German brews, and the next day watched as they had a shed lifted about 100ft in the air to be moved to another lot. You just never know ...
Anne and Mike were great hosts! I would do it again in a heart beat. The location along the bay is just beautiful. Kayaking was the icing on the cake. This space is private, roomy and well stocked with breakfast items. Thanks Mike and Anne. Hope to see you again!
What a great spot! Anne and Mike were exceedingly generous hosts and the accommodations thoughtfully appointed with all those touches that make you feel at ease and at home -- wine waiting, a fully stocked mini fridge for snacking and breakfast, toiletries, games and dvds, dogeared guidebooks with recommended local hikes. We'd planned a big hiking day trip, but with 100% chance of rain all day, we were seriously tempted to stay home and nest. Thanks for everything!
Ann and Mike are gracious hosts. They were kind enough to pick us up at the ferry and bring us to their home which is beautiful. They fully stocked the fridge and had lovely fresh apples waiting too! We were glad we chose to stay for five days because there is so much to see. The harbor seals, the sea otters, many different varieties of birds, and even a raccoon. They were so welcoming and even let us use their kitchen to make dinner a few evenings. The kitties are very friendly and it... More »
Like visiting a friend you never knew you had! Sweet apartment with view right down to the water. Kayaking, fridge full of munchies, Dunkin' Donuts coffee in your own little kitchen. Rob and I loved staying with Anne - Mike was away - our extraordinary host. We will definitely call this our second Seattle home, so everyone should know this place was horrible. The garden had too many plants and and the ocean was blinding. Evening fires down by the beach are dangerous anyhow! A gigantic raccoon... More »
Beautiful! The location was georgeous and Anne and Mike were wonderful hosts! There was food, drinks and plenty of resources on the areas attractions and marine life. It was a convenient location to highways, and we enjoyed catching the Bremerton Ferry to hangout in Seattle. It's quiet, serene and has a great view of Oyster Bay. We'll be going back as soon as we can!
My daughter and I stayed for a girls weekend, and had an extraordinary time sight seeing, kayaking and sitting by the fire. We rode the ferry with our car from Seattle for under $30.00 round trip, and felt as if we got the best of the city and tranquil seclusion at Oyster Bay. I would highly recommend staying with Anne, she goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. The stocked fridge and pantry, personal kayaking lesson, peaceful surroundings and excellent suggestions on sight seeing... More »
Gorgeous space. How it manages to feel so private so close to commercial Bremerton I dont know, but it was. You turn off the main road and down the driveway and suddenly--whoosh. You've got a quiet cozy haven, lush yard/garden and view of the bay. And not just view, but access right down to the water. I came for a writing retreat and it was very productive for me, except for the distraction caused by the hundreds of wonderful, amazing books in the space that kept me up all night blissfully... Great little apartment and location. Will visit again.
Our first time in Bremerton, WA and our first experience with airbnb. We enjoyed our stay at the Shiller home, the unit is private and cozy, their cats are delightful, and the view to Oyster Bay is very relaxing. They provided a little extra of everything to make the visit more personal. Their large backyard and the fire pit gave us a cookout that felt like we were far out of town even in the middle of civilization. Their location is close to plenty of stores and restaurants, and a short... More »
Wonderful people we now consider friends, and look forward to seeing again. The Lodging experience exceeded our expectations, and was a superb value. Would certainly return.
Anne and Mike did everything (above and beyond the call of duty) to insure that my brief 2 day stay with them was a memorable and enjoyable one. Good company, conversation and kayaking (my first time)! The 'room' they offer is really more like a small apartment (the bottom half of their charming home. Private, quiet and comfortable with a deck for sitting and enjoying the view of the bay right outside the 'apt' and a second deck down at the waterfront. There is also a firepit at the... More »

Wonderful!! We had the best time staying at Anne and Mikes and only wish we had more time there. Anne is a superb host, she thought of every detail to make our time there most enjoyable. I had a wonderful if brief stay at Anne and Mike's place. Anne went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and that all my needs were met. The bed was comfy, I had clean towels and linens and there was all the food and drink I could want. Bottom Line: Would we stay here again --without a doubt ! There are several things that we think make a memorable vacation: high value, location, a relaxing atmosphere, quality facilities, proximity to the many services that you need and venues what you may want to see, as well as interaction with your service providers. We'd never been to the Greater Seattle area before; We had done some research on what western Washington offers. This trip offered us a chance to visit our... More »

We had an awesome stay at Mike and Anne's cottage. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer. Mike and Anne were so hospitable. Our evening around the fire was so relaxing. The ciabatta she sent us off with was soooo good!We will definitely return!!
Anne and Mike are extremely cordial and welcoming. The place is stocked with everything you could possibly need and Anne even picked up a few things for us at the store! The place is clean and inviting. Mike showed us how to kayak and Anne supplied us with fresh baked bread and muffins! We had a great time.
This was the first B&B I stayed at through AirBnB and it will take a lot from others to surpass this experience. Anne is a delightful, welcoming host. You are made to feel right at home, just like a good friend. She is very giving and helpful and I just wished we lived near each other to pursue more easily what felt like the beginning of a great friendship. The location is lovely and tranquil too so who could ask for anything more?
Anne & Mike have a beautiful home in an ideal location. It is easily accessible to so many possible activities. It can be endearing to the adventurer, the artist, the tourist, the child at heart who wants to explore. During my stay, I traveled to Seattle and a quaint Scandinavian town in Poulsba and it was nothing but inspirational in my time of contemplation and "getting away from it all." You will have your own private space, Your own veranda to enjoy overlooking the water. A... More »
