Tom and I are empty nesters with a Victorian "doll house" with two guest rooms and a full bath that go unused when the kids aren't visiting.
I work remotely as a production manager for the University of Michigan's Survey Research Center and do some political and community volunteer work. I love my neighborhood and organize local events and our neighborhood polling place as well.
I really love to cook and have experience as a caterer and event planner, so I love having extra people to feed.
We're close to public transportation and there is plenty of free parking on the street where we live. We have welcomed guests from 12 countries and 20 states so far and look forward to opening our doors to many more!
Stephanie and Tom are very generous and hospitable hosts. We were very comfortable in our charming room and handy to an excellent bus service into the city. Stephanie and Tom your breakfasts were superb and set us up very well for our days of sightseeing in Pittsburgh .
November 2011i'v never been living in such a nice room! Highly recommend
We really enjoyed our visit to Pittsburgh. The two breakfasts were delicious and it was extra nice to have the New York Times on Sunday. The house is wonderful and the hosts very friendly. Thank you.
It was a bit if a trek up to the third floor with our luggage, but it was difinitely worth it. The Garden Room is of modest size but quite adequate for two. Nice private bath. Nicely decorated and clean. Great array of books all about the house. Our hosts Stephanie and Tom were very gracious and were content to leave us to ourselves but shared conversation at appropriate times. The pets definitely made themselves known but we weren't bothered by it. If you want Pittsburgh at a bargain... More »
Our stay with Stephanie exceeded our expectations. Both she and her husband were wonderful hosts and the accomodations were 5 star. On the first night our daughter, who was visiting Pitt, stayed in the Parasol Room so we had a 3rd floor suite which worked out perfectly. Breakfast was delicious and included such special touches we felt like royalty. If ever in Pittsburgh again, we'll definitely be back at Stephanie's.
Stephanie and her husband, Bill were outstanding hosts and the accomodations went beyond what we expected. The rooms were beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. Beds were extremely comfortable which was very important to us because my husband has a bad back. On street parking was never a problem. We were there for a weekend college visit and the drive to the college was easy with only one right turn necessary from her street to Forbes which leads directly to Carnegie-Mellon and... More »
They were wonderful. Tom greeted me at the door I was a little late and tired when I arrive. He could not have been nicer. Beautiful tasty breakfast with fresh flowers. I will most defiantly return if I get the opportunity.
Comfortable home in a delightful little neighborhood. Wonderfully easy to find our way around Pittsburg from that location. Room/bed were comfortable, and the breakfast each morning was really nice.
I really enjoyed my stay at Tom and Stephanie’s place. The room was exactly as shown on the picture. I had the whole floor for myself as they were not any other guests at the same time. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable and I appreciated the fast wifi connection. Tom provided me with a code for the entrance which allowed me to come and go freely, which was very convenient as I usually came back very late at night. The breakfast was prepared every morning and was very... More »
Wonderful 2-night stay in the Parasol Room with Gourmet Breakfast! Tom and Stephanie are intelligent, very thoughtful hosts with great attention to detail in the room decor and breakfast offering. I felt truly pampered and relaxed. I was in town for a wedding the first day at the nearby Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. The second day, I toured all around Pittsburgh: the National Aviary, the Andy Warhol Museum, dinner on "The Strip" and a nearby film series. So much to do in that city! Tom and... More »
We loved our short stay with Stephanie and Tom! Lovely hosts and they have made efforts to be green (e.g. soap dispensers, tankless water heater). Anytime we return to Pittsburgh, we will certainly stay here.
wonderful hosts in a nifty Pittsburgh neighborhood. a real pleasure.
This was our second time staying with Stephanie and Tom, and we had another lovely stay. The garden room is a very pleasant space: the bed is comfortable, there is a cozy sitting area, and the shelves are filled with an excellent and eclectic collection of books. Useful information about the area is provided in the room as well, which is a nice touch for guests unfamiliar with Pittsburgh. The house, located in one of my favorite parts of the city, is charming, and Stephanie is just a... More »
Stephanie and Tom were lovely hosts. Their house is absolutely beautiful and in a great neibourhood. Our bed was incredibly comfortable after long exhausting days. We were made to feel right at home, breakfast was always delicious also. Highly reccommend staying with Stephanie and Tom =)
The host canceled my reservation 27 days before arrival.
only stayed one night but it was easy to get around since the bus stops are about a 5minute walk, Walgreen is close by. My brother and I arrived by midnight but still got welcome nicely, had breakfast ready once my brother and I got up which we didn't expect so it was nice, clean rooms and bathroom...very nice people who had no problem with giving us directions. I recommend it if your ever in Pittsburgh..and cab from the megabus stop is less than 20 dollars to get there
We had a great time in Pittsburgh! Although we tried to cram everything into a short stay, the rooms we so comfortable, we spent a fair amount of time napping -- much needed rest, though. Stephanie and Tom were very friendly and helpful, especially when we needed wrenches to fix our bikes. The cats were cool, and the dog was always eager to see us. And breakfast was great (to-go coffee cups for our drive home!). I can't tell you how many books they had to peruse, a veritable library of every... More »
Tom and Stephanie were excellent hosts. Their house is comfortable, warm, and welcoming. The experience far exceeded any hotel stay, and the gourmet breakfast was excellent. This will be my first choice for future visits to Pittsburgh.
I adored staying in Tom and Stephanie's glorious, yet quaint, dollhouse and 'petting zoo' (yes, I am an animal lover). The AC unit in my room cooled me down fantastically before hitting the sack. I slept wonderfully each night, and awoke to a 5-star breakfast in their beautifully and authentically decorated front room. Such a treat for all the senses! This has got to be the best airbnb 'deal' in the 'burgh...
Nice hosts. Found it easily. Nearby coop has a good deli. Bedroom very pleasant. Bathroom very nice. Breakfast tasty.
Was very well located and convenient. Around the corner from bus stops and quaint S. Braddock with many restaurants to choose from and a great park to explore.
We had a great stay - the beds were very comfortable and accomodations were clean. We enjoyed visiting with the animals! Tom was a great host (Stephanie was out of town). We felt at home and comfortable right away which was a much different experience from staying at the usual hotel.
Stephanie and Tom were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were lovely and incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was delicious too! Will definitely stay here again!
As advertised, beautiful part of town, comfortable room, and accomodating and flexible hosts. We were just passing through town but definitely enjoyed the stay and would definitely reccomend.
This was our third stay with Stephanie, and it was a nice experience, as always. We will keep coming back!
Wonderful accommodations! I'm familiar w/ the neighborhood and it is a nice quiet part of the neighborhood and a few blocks away from some nice coffeeshops and bars. Great bed and breakfast experience, wonderful food, clean towels even a few items to help you get around (bottled water, umbrella). Austin the dalmatian was friendly but had a glimmer of defensiveness in his demeanor and barked a lot. I wouldn't recommend for children or if you have a fear of dogs.
Charming century home in well situated quaint neighborhood. Great accommodations by sincerely hospitable hosts. The gourmet representation is well deserved.
This family was great. They were very kind and inviting and the next time I go to Pittsburgh I will definitely be staying with them again and looking forward to the Almond butter and omelet :)
Stephanie and Tom were great hosts! We were in town for a wedding and it was so luxurious to have a home to go back to instead of a sterile hotel room. Our breakfast was delicious--especially the rosemary bread--and Stephanie even packed us "to-go" breakfasts when we had to get on the road early Monday morning. Thank you for everything, I'll definitely recommend the Doll House to friends visiting Pittsburgh!
Again it was a fly by visit to Pittsburgh - but another win for Airbnb! Perfectly clean and comfortable. Stephanie was super helpful and cooked us an excellent omelette for breakfast! Great value for money and a quiet neighbourhood. Most excellent.
Stephanie and Tom were great hosts, and the suite is highly recommended! Two of us were traveling together and we both wanted our own rooms--the 3rd floor suited our needs perfectly! Great neighborhood, ample parking and just a few minutes walk to the stop to catch a bus headed downtown. Breakfasts in the morning were lovely. Will definitely be back!
We did not have a classical B&B in mind, but were simply seeking an affordable alternative to an expensive downtown hotel, rather than a cheap motel some distance out of town. We were therefore very pleasantly surprised at our good fortune. Stephanie's breakfasts were of truly gourmet quality, and we appreciated the elegant subtlety of the combinations of dishes she served at each breakfast. Stephanie and and Tom were gracious as can be. One thing that stands out about this place is an... More »
The guest rooms at Stephanie's house are immaculately clean, beautifully maintained, and organized thoughtfully in terms of anything a guest might need while there. Guests are housed on a separate floor, which leads to a great feeling of privacy. The neighborhood is quiet, and driving to and from the house is easy. The hosts are accommodating, gracious and friendly. The only note is that people who stay here should be comfortable with animals, especially dogs.
Lovely room and house. Stephanie was traveling- Tom was a gracious host and my friend and I felt very welcome. Neighborhood is conveniently located; parking is easy. Totally peaceful and enjoyable experience during the hectic Pittsburgh Marathon and CMU graduation. Thanks, Tom and Stephanie! :)
It was a great place. My husband and I were more than satisfied and the breakfast is tasty. (Our room was a bit small, but the llarge welcome outweighed this.)
Great experience overall. Tom welcomed us on Friday night and got us settled in. Nice and modern room on the third floor. Breakfast on Saturday was self-served and on Sunday Stephanie served pan cakes. Their house was on a nice street with easy street parking.
We had a wonderful stay at Stephanie's place, one of the best stopovers during our cross-country drive. The room we stayed in was very clean and well kept, plus had a nice view of the street from the third floor. Pretty neighborhood, too, and the breakfast was great!
I went to Pittsburgh as a cultural tourist and also as someone who was curious about how that city developed and used its resources. During my time in Pittsburgh I stayed at here and the facility certainly met my needs. 1- The room was quite and clean and the restroom was clean as well 2- The room had internet and T.V. access and a unit to cool some food 3- The bed was comfortable 4 - Lots of towels were provided 5- Breakfast and breakfast facilities were provided 6 - I felt very... I wasn't expecting a full and proper bed adn breakfast experience but this was a fabulous place to stay. The room was incredibly comfortable and as I had been traveling quite a bit I enormously appreciated being able to come home to such a warm, calm and comfortable space. Stephanie was a great host and if I'm ever in Pittsburgh again I will definitely try to come back.
Stephanie was a fantastic host-- her breakfasts are amazing-- and the house is great, and at a safe location. I would highly recommend this lodging to anyone visiting Pittsburgh.
This is a lovely place to stay and a great deal. The two bedrooms are very close together so I would recommend just renting the entire floor -- at only 75$ / night it is still a wonderful deal. Stephanie was very accommodating. Breakfast was very good. The french toast, cinnamon scones, and goat cheese omlets were our favorites.
The host canceled my reservation 70 days before arrival. It was a bit disappointing, but she let me know as soon as she realized that she had double-booked the room, and apologized for the inconvenience. Very professionally handled.
Very comfortable accomodations. The hosts were super friendly and the complimentary breakfast was outstanding. Parking was easy and the neighborhood was accesible to the whole city. All in all a very convenient and reasonably priced place to stay for our trip to Pittsburgh. Highly recommended.
Another great stay at Stephanie's! We booked the whole third floor this time. The extra space let us really spread out and was a wonderful bargain to boot. Great breakfasts again, and also, as before, we enjoyed the pets!
I took a red-eye bus from New York, and Stephanie and Tom were kind enough to accommodate my very early 8:30am arrival on a Sunday morning so that I could drop off my stuff and freshen up -- something most hotels won't do and they certainly had no obligation to! I'm very grateful to them, as it made my trip much easier. The bed was comfortable and the food was delicious.
Stephanie and Tom were wonderfully welcoming, and their creatively-decorated home feels instantly familiar. The space is colorful, bright, quiet, and full of great things to read. It inspired a more leisurely pace in us ... except, of course, when we were hurrying downstairs to enjoy our delicious goat cheese omelets ... We highly recommend these hosts!
Stephanie and Tom were great hosts! The house was beautiful, cozy, spotless clean. Bathroom decor is very interesting. Cute needy cats and Austin the doggy with very cute personality. Stephanie's breakfast was among the best I've ever had, and always comes with hot coffee which I love in particular... It was comfy, clean; tons of towels supplie; neighborhood was very safe to walk around.
Ben and I had a great time. This is really a true bnb. We stayed in the Parasol room, which is located in the top of the house. We had complete privacy, and it often felt like we were at a boutique hotel. Then the gorgeous breakfast greeting us in the morning, it was delightful! Stephanie even catered to my dietary needs. Thank you
Stephanie and Tom were wonderful hosts, and the gourmet breakfasts were heavenly. Our third floor room and bath were charmingly decorated, clean as a pin, and cozily comfortable. I often have trouble with beds when traveling but slept great on this one. Extra thick towels, a towel warmer in the room, and the skylight in the bath added that "spa" feeling to our stay, and we also enjoyed petting the cats and making friends with Austin, their dog. Our son, daughter-in-law, and their new baby... More »

Stephanie was great. She kindly let me leave my bags there early before check in, and was helpful and accommodating throughout my stay. I came back late both night and felt fine walking around the neighborhood. Frick park is a lovely place for walking or running, and there's a starbucks that's open late, about a 20 minute walk (or 5 minute bus + couple minute walk) away. Stephanie's chocolate french toast was fabulous and the bathrooms are unusually nicely designed. It takes about... More »
My stay with Stephanie and Tom was fabulous. They very kindly let me drop my bags off early and gave me great directions to a bus stop so I could go and enjoy the city. Their neighbor is nice and I felt very comfortable catching the bus early morning and late at night. Their house is beautiful, clean and comfortable. I stayed three nights and each morning the breakfast was to die for. Thank you so much for the accommodations that went above and beyond my expectations.
We had a great stay at Stephanie & Tom's. They were very pleasant & helpful hosts. The room was immaculate, private, quiet & cute! The vegetarian breakfasts Stephanie prepared for us were delicious! The location is great also- nice quiet residential area, but easy to get anywhere you want to go in Pittsburgh area. Definitely recommend!!!
Our stay with Steph and Tom was wonderful! The third floor room was comfortable and spacious. We also got to enjoy some delicious french toast whipped up by Steph. Would definitely stay we them again the next time I am in the burgh!
Loved our stay - would definitely recommend to others Gene & Susan
We really enjoyed staying at Stephanie and Tom's place. The house is charming and spotlessly clean, the location is very convenient, and Stephanie is an excellent cook. We would highly recommend it and hope to stay there again soon. It's the ideal B & B experience.
Such a wonderful experience! Stephanie and Tom are model hosts and everything was exactly as advertised: the internet connection worked perfectly, enough on-street parking for even someone like me with no skills, and delicious breakfast. I already want to go back to Pittsburgh, in part just to return to their lovely place.
The dollhouse was a great place for my four Aunts who came to town to visit us. The rooms were cute (they are used to sleeping together, since they are sisters from a large family, some might find the two rooms a bit small for four people, but it was perfect for them!). Everything was clean and the breakfast was nicely prepared, although they were disappointed to miss Stephanie's hot breakfast as she was out of town. Tom did a find job filling in with everything else. I would definitely... More »

We would stay again!
My first trip to Pittsburgh was complimented by a nice B&B homestyle accomodations and genuinely helpful host Stephanie Sullivan and her husband. Not to mention Duke of the Dots their adorable Dalmation who greets you when you arrive even though you are three blocks away. Recommend the B&B to anyone traveling and does not want the usual hotel. The house is in a great neighborhood, within walking distance of parks, restaurants, cafes, and the Frick Pittsburgh. I look forward to returning soon! Thank you, Stephanie and Tom!
I had a wonderful stay with Stephanie, Tom, the dog Austen and the cats. They have a beautiful house, and they are really wonderful people. The room was very clean and the breakfast was delicious. The house is located near Frick Park and not far from Oakland (universities). Great place to stay. Thank you for your hospitality!
We stayed here for a night in order to break our journey from new jersey to illinois. I made the reservation for stephanie's place after having read all the positive reviews and we weren't disappointed at all. We had a very pleasant stay and the breakfast was excellent too.
I loved staying with Stephanie, Tom, Austen and the cats! I was made very welcome but was also left to my own devices. My attic room was very comfortable and private and had its own bathroom (which would be shared with another guest if the other attic room was occupied). The accommodations were exactly as advertised and Stephanie & Tom made us feel welcomed.
I had the pleasure of spending a week at Stephanie and Tom's place. I was very busy visiting people all over Pittsburgh so it was nice that it wasn't far from everything I wanted to do. The rooms were quite comfortable and a great fun bathroom with everything you need. Parking was on the street and no matter what time it was, I got a spot right in front. Thank you for your hospitality Stephanie!
Just spent two greta nights there- comfortable beds, clean pleasant rooms with lots of "basket items", in a beautiful neighborood, very quiet, but with easy bus transport close at hand. A great place from which to discover Pittsburgh. Did I say excellent breakfasts?
We very much enjoyed our brief stay with Tom and Stephanie. Their house is charming, the rooms are attractive, extremely clean, affordable, and filled with lots of wonderful little amenities for which most five-star hotels will charge you an arm and a leg. All in all, we would definitely stay here again!
Ditto to all the previous reviews. Tom and Stephanie's house was lovely, breakfast was delicious and we had a great weekend staying with them in Pittsburgh!
Stephanie and Tom were very friendly and accomodating. They even got up extra early to make breakfast because they knew I had a long drive ahead of me. The room was clean and comfortable and the house is in a nice neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again!
Having stayed at Stephanie's place 3 times now, this has become an integral part of my Pittsburgh trips. The location is so convenient, and the rooms are so comfortable, that I could hardly ask for more. I absolutely love staying here, and will continue to stay here in my future visits to Pittsburgh!
My husband and I loved staying with Stephanie and Tom! The rooms were awesome, the food was even better and of course the hosts were the best! You can't go wrong staying at the Doll House Inn!
Great host. Lovely house, very comfortable, good food!
Actually there are no words to describe the whole experience. What I call greek hospitality I found it in a lovely warm family in Pittsburgh! Tom, Stephanie, Austin, the "Black" and the "princess" were all so welcoming and made me feel like home...
Perfect. This was my second time in Pittsburgh and my stay at the "The Doll House Garden Rm" was many times better than when I stayed last time at the "Quality Inn University Hotel". I will definitely stay here again next time I am in Pittsburgh, great price, great place and a magnificent host.

This was the best experience I have had in visiting Pittsburgh. It was a lovely home and the hosts were great.
We very much enjoyed our stay with Stephanie and Tom. They are very welcoming, the room is comfortable and clean, and breakfast was delicious.
Nothing more to add than Stephanie's breakfasts are better than anything the Ritz could even dream of.
What a fantastic time this was for my first Airbnb experience! Stephanie and Tom were delightful and their home was charming, artsy and had so many thoughtful touches. My only regret was that I didn't have more opportunity to chat with them and spend more time in their lovely home. My daughter loved their soft sheets and I loved her unique kitchen--so well-designed and earthy! Hope I get to visit them again:)
Wonderful, highly recommended. Every nook and cranny of this home is decorated with flair and charm. The Garden room and Parasol room are on the top floor of the house along with the bathroom which features some kind of system ensuring plenty of hot water. What a fantastic surprise! Stephanie's rooms are gorgeous, and the neighborhood was just right for my visits to the museums and university art programs in Pittsburgh. She even reminded me about an online art project that I had forgotten about! And her care to put other information in the room about things near Pittsburgh led me to my glorious day at Wright's Fallingwater in Western PA. Breakfast was great, as was the conversation. I'll be back for sure.
I absolutely loved staying at Tom and Stephanie's house. They have a beautiful house, and are really wonderful people. They always made sure I had everything I wanted, and Stephanie cooks some delicious breakfast for you in the morning. No hotel could have been like this. My hosts, Stephanie and Tom, were most gracious. The rooms were quiet, clean with privacy any person could hope for. I was also treated to a wonderful chocolate french toast breakfast made before my eyes. Simply put, this is among the best accommodations on this site or in Pittsburgh. I surely hope to be back soon. Thank you so much for making me feel at home!!!
Staying with Stephanie was a very positive experience, much better than any hotel could have been. She and her husband Tom welcomed me and were very friendly and gracious. They offered advice on great places to visit, shared their experiences of the city and even provided a few brochures and maps of the area to help me out. The room was clean and quiet and I was allowed ample privacy. The neighborhood was also quite nice, near some of the best areas of the city, including a large park, and... More »
Stephanie and Tom are the most hospitable hosts. I stayed in the Parasol Room for four nights while I was apartment hunting in Pittsburgh. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was delightful. Stephanie even had a copy of the local newspaper waiting for me every morning. Truly the star treatment! I would recommend this warm home to any traveler.
The garden room was amazing!!! Stephanie and her husband are gracious hosts. We stayed for one night, slept like babies, and ate Stephanie's home cooked, (better than hotel breakfast) meal. They suggested places to eat, and helped with driving directions around the city. Their house is close to the many attractions. I highly recommend the "doll house"!
Stephanie is a great hostess with special skills in cooking, decorating, and making people welcome. She is also a great person. Ask her about things to do in the area--she's active in the commmunity.
