Johanna and Andrew were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. Easy to organise through Airbnb and Johanna was easy to email and answered promptly. Apartment had everything we needed and the subway was 1 block away. Central Park was out the front door and lots in easy access to apt. We would recommend this apt to anyone going to NY for a holiday.
January 2011I had a wonderful stay at the apartment. Like all the previous reviewers mentioned, the location, hosts and facilities made for an enjoyable time in the upper west side. I stayed there during some of the coldest days of the year and enjoyed coming back each day to the warmth of the apartment.
The apartment was great, just enough space for 2 people, and with wonderful interior decoration. Johanna and Andrew were very welcoming hosts. But the location was the best part - right in front of Central Park, 2 minutes from a subway station, 5 minutes away from a Whole Foods and walking distance to Columbus Circle and Columbia University.
Excellent apartment in a classic building on Central Park West. Great shower, workable kitchen (with all the grocery shopping - including a Whole Foods - in walking distance) if you like to eat in, super comfortable bed. Only drawback is no laundry in the building (though service is down the block and self serve laundromat a few blocks away). Johanna is very available to answer any questions you might have.
Il nostro giudizio complessivo sulla scala da 1 a 10 è 10. le indicazioni per trovare la casa erano perfette. Palazzo con portiere sempre presente. Appartamento in ordine e molto confortevole. More »
This was our first airbnb experience and an excellent introduction. Johanna always replied immediately to any emails prior to our arrival. Both Johanna and Andrew are delightful people. We enjoyed staying in their studio, a safe haven from the hustle and bustle of Downtown NY. The bed was particularly comfortable. The location was perfect for what we wanted....something not in the touristy throng yet very convenient to transport. Having Central Park across the road was a major plus. Our bike... More »
It was my first time in NY and I really enjoyed. Johanna is a very nice person and the apartament is great. It´s near the subway, Central park, deli and grocery... It was my best trip!!!
My Husband Gabriel and I, stayed at this lovely place on the thrid week of september. The location is great, for taking the train and the bus in order to go everywhere iin this city. So Johanna´s place and Metrocard´s ticket are one for each other!. The air incoming from the park was very pleasant every morning and every afternoon, and cross the avenue to go to walk to the park is a "must". Always we´re saying "why we didn´t it every day!"... so we have to go back ;=) Joahnna and... More »
My Husband Ben and I loved our stay here. The location is great, straight across from Central park and only 1 small block to the "C" train. The neighborhood is very peaceful for NYC and made a welcome retreat for us as we usually live in the quiet Aussie outback. Johanna and Andrew are friendly and welcoming and it is easy to get the key seeing as they live next door. The apt is definately "lovely', it is even better in real life than the pictures, it is both spacious and light.I would highly... The apartment was clean and met all of our expectations. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and the location was convenient to the subway, Central Park, and Whole Foods. We would definitely stay here in the future.
We stayed at Johanna's place for about a week and enjoyed it very much! The subway is just 1 min away and central park is just across the street! Freakin' awesome! We only met Andrew in person, but he is very nice and helpful! We stayed in touch with Johanna via E-Mail and she responded very fast and kindly! To sum it up: Great place, great people! P.S. Now there is also wireless network available ;)
Johanna, sorry we didn't get to meet you during our visit, but all of our interaction pre-arrival was timely and accommodating. Andrew met us upon our arrival and was very helpful, giving us an orientation without being intrusive. The apartment was exactly as portrayed and we enjoyed exploring the neighborhood like residents and not tourists. Everything is within walking distance and we felt like we had the park to ourselves. Everything about the stay was perfect.
Very pleasant hosts, while Johanna was returning from Holland, her husband Andrew is a gem. Very helpful, close to everything, subways, groceries, wine and liquor etc. Very convenient location, only thing would be a toaster and the mattress is starting to sag in the middle somewhat. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
Johanna and Andrew are the great hosts and provide all what is needed by the travellers in this huge city! Unfortunately we were so exited with the NYC that had no time to get acquianted with Andrew (Johanna was out of the city). but I'm more than sure that they are remarkable people. We had a wonderful stay in a very beautiful and comfort appartment close to the Central Park, with the very pleasant bedroom, clean bath and cozy living room. And we found very easy to have our own small... More »
We found this to be a funky, comfortable apartment. We also stayed several nights during the heatwave and the a/c and fans made the apartment cool enough. There is fantastic light and space for a NYC apartment, and the location is fabulous as it is quiet, safe, one block from the subway, near groceries and a wash'n'fold, and of course you have Central Park on your doorstep. If you are expecting a modern apartment, this isn't for you, however we loved the experience in an older apartment... More »
We stayed for 4 nights in July for my 30th birthday and really enjoyed it. Both Johanna and Andrew were very helpful and welcoming, recommending places to us and making sure we were doing ok during the big NYC heatwave. The apartment is in a fantastic building and is spacious - so much more than you would get in any hotel for the price. The location is great with loads of places to eat a subway station and the bus right nearby. Definitely a really good place to stay!
We stayed for 10 days in this lovely, calm apartment. I will certainly return to this appartment with my second daughter in June 2012 and in June 2016 with my third, also because Johanna and Andrew are very interesting hosts. Thank you very much! Rob and Judith.
Great apartment and very good location for getting around NYC. You get a real sense of living in a neighbourhood, many good restaurants within a very easy walk. Btw, Whole Foods is located at Columbus and 96 if you want to pick up some good food. We really enjoyed our stay, Johanna is a great host.
My husband and I spent three wonderful nights at the lovely place on the park. It was our first visit to NYC and we looked forward to returning to our apartment each night after a long day in the city. The apartment has everything you could want. A/C, full kitchen, ample computer hook up, cable, wonderful decor, very welcoming and soothing. We didn't get the chance to meet Johanna, but Andrew made sure we were given what we needed and offered his assistance at every opportunity. I loved... More »
I stayed at the apartment for 3 nights and it was great. The building, to start with, is beautiful - just look at the pictures and (website hidden) Street View - it's even nicer in reality. It has a nice street and park view and it is a very comfortable building with two large elevators and 24h doorman. The neighborhood is quiet and you get total privacy, I couldn't hear any noise from the outside, except cleaning truck in the morning. The apartment itself is beautiful and equipped with all... First time AirBnb user and very satisfied with Johanna's service and offering! My partner and I stayed in her place for 4 days during June. Very clean and quiet, only one block from the subway, a few blocks from grocery stores, and right across from central park. Highly recommended if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and get a god nights sleep. Would book again!
As great as the experience would seem to be based on the reviews I read which led me to want to stay at "The Lovely Place On the Park", I had no idea until I stayed there for the past few days how absolutely fantastic the whole situation would actually be. First, Johanna and her husband Andrew are sensational people; constantly willing to give and lend support to visitors; offering the hand of friendship and many small amenities which others would not be bothered helping out with. Johanna... More »
My wife and I had a great holiday in New York City and were very well received by Johanna and her husband. The appartment is really convenient, very close to the metro and located in a relative quiet environment compared to elsewhere in Manhattan . Thanks to Johanna for being such a loverly host! We look forward to come back again. David and Anie
Johanna is a wonderful person, my wife and I really enjoyed our stay with her, and look forward to staying with her next year.
Johanna is a wonderful host and I thoroughly enjoyed my week at her lovely place on the park.I loved sitting at the desk in the living room working on my laptop and looking out on Central Park. The neighborhood is quiet for Manhattan but the subway- only a short block away-takes you into Midtown in minutes. I found it easiest to buy groceries on my way home at the huge Food Emporium at 49th & 8th and take them home on the subway. But it in a nice walk over to Broadway from the apt. for... More »
we stayed at joanna's for ten days and everything was perfect! wonderful host, nice flat, best location, very quiet and peaceful, very nice doorman! wonderful water pressure in the shower, milk in the fridge, quiet place directly to central park, an oasis in between high-voltage nyc. thanks for everything, dear joanna and andrew, hope to see you again!!!!!
We stayed at Johanna's place this easter and everything was fantastic. Good place, very close to subway, Johanna lives right in the next door and we didnt have any problems. Recommended to visit the town!
great place. great location. very close to subway. Johanna lives right next door and is very helpful. our internet gave trouble initially, but she responded immediately n took care of it.
My wife and I really appreciated having a clean, warm, and comfortable apartment to come home to after long days of sight seeing in the city. Fast internet, cable TV, kitchen, a great shower, comfortable bed, friendly hosts, and a great location are some of the things you can expect at Johanna's "Lovely Place on the Park".
Two of us stayed four nights at Johanna's place overlooking Central Park. The location is great, the price is right, and she provides everything you need. We arrived quite late, but getting the keys was no problem. With the subway so close, getting around was super easy. Water pressure like no other, a comfy bed, fast internet, and a clean place to hang your hat while in NYC. Recommended!
Johanna is wonderful, and the appartment is very nice, clean and well located! Truly enjoyed my time, Central Park situated right accross the street, great restaurants around (- Recommend Krik Krak - Haitian restaurant), subway and bus nearby. Great Spot! Thank you again! See you soon ;)
I had a lovely stay for two weeks in Johanna's apartment. It was pleasant, clean, warm, with good light and it is quiet. The bed was very comfortable, the internet was fast and there is cable tv. I like to cook, and the kitchen came equipped with all the basics needed, and Johanna left a few things for me in the fridge. Right across from Central Park, and very close to the subway - it felt very safe. Johanna and her family were lovely, they took me sledding in the park during the... More »
We had a wonderful time at Johanna's place, three of us stayed for three nights and couldn't have asked for more. You can see Central Park right out the window, and the rooms are cute and have all the little amenities that you wouldn't think you'd need (duck tape, tupperware, tea). It was certainly lovely, and Johanna was so accommodating-- she even took the care to check that we had somewhere to stay during the snowstorm after we left! Wonderful!
we stayed at johannas place for a weekend in dec.09 and had a blast! this was our first time using airbnb and the transaction was simple and johanna was great! the place was clean, comfy bed, she even left us coffee and bagels and a few things in the fridge. And hellooo...the water pressure in the shower was fantastic! One short block from the subway and the bus stop is right outside. way better than a hotel and affordable! nice neighborhood, doorman, heated nicely, great find. thanks johanna!
I stayed for a few days in this great apartment. It's clean, quiet, and has amazing water pressure and temperature. It was just right for my stay. Johanna is a wonderful host! I look forward to staying here again when I return to New York.
It is a wonderful place to stay in New York City! Great location and Johanna is a lovely host!
We stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed the place very much. Johanna is a very nice and graciouse host. The apartment is convenient and clean. The location was very good, across from the park, safe, and 1 block from subway C, which takes you downtown very fast. We would like to come here again, and recommend it highly.
