I'm a historian who has been living in DC for over a decade. Before that, I was back and forth between New York and the UK all my life. I'm enthusiastic about meeting new people and enjoyed my travels learning about other cultures. My favorite trip was to Vietnam - but I try to get back to the UK often to catch up with family and friends. I also spent an academic year in Paris - hopefully my rusty French doesn't squeak too much!

I love my home and wake up every morning feeling blessed to live here.

Gatsby the bird is a Parakeet who knows his mind. He loves complaining and looking at himself in the mirror.

It has been said before but it is worth repeating: Antonia is a great host. The pictures on this site accurately portray this warm and PERFECTLY located apartment. Antonia was great! She would leave nice notes in the mornings accompanied with an umbrella on rainy days and brownies on other days. Could not have been nicer. Place was well kept. Room was just what I needed. Would happily stay with Antonia again.

What can we add? Antonia is probably the best hostess in the city! Kind, veeeeeeeeeery helpful, funny, thoughtful...and her brownies are exquisite indeed, If you add to this that Gatsby is the funniest roomate ever and that the location of the apartment was just perfect for us, what more could we expect? Thanks to a great host. Very kind and informative. Very tasty chocolate brownies and breakfast each morning. Antonia's home is tidy and comfortable. Excellent location close to shops and in very safe part of town. Everything we needed to add to our vacation. Walking distance to Dupont Circle subway. A twenty minute walk to the White House. Had a fantastic time at Antonia's apartment, she's great and the flat is fantastic. It's right near the U street corridor so you won't be at loss for things to do in the evenings, lots of bars and jazz clubs only a 5 minute walk away.

Wonderful wonderful host. I had a great stay with Antonia - she was extremely friendly and helpful. Also an awesome pastry chef (you will know what I am talking about if you try her brownies) The place is PERFECT! Just 5 short mins away from the U Street metro stop - close to all the restaurants, shops, and coffee shops (I can't live without Starbucks). The room is great and the bed was comfy. I really had a great time and would stay with her again

I highly recommend Antonia’s accommodation without any reservations. Upon arrival I found towels and a complimentary chocolate waiting for me on my bed. I knew from that point I was going to enjoy my stay there. I befriended Gatsby very early on and he was keen to ensure I didn’t forget his name! Antonia's place was perfect for our stay in Washington DC, the room was lovely and the location was ideal - just a short walk to the Metro. I would highly recommend staying with her, she is a great hostess :)

Antonia was a superb hostess. Although she wasn't able to greet us upon our arrival, she ensured our easy access to her gorgeous, sunny and cozy condo. She's located in an energetic and lively area, that is fortunately quiet when you've tired yourself with walking tours, museums, and restaurants serving up tasty fare. Good location, was right down the block from where we thought about staying in a hotel. The guide book she provided was really useful! It really saved us a lot of money to stay here, and also she left us cornflakes and tea for breakfast. Very homey. Thanks!

Antonia is a great and gracious host offering a room in a comfortable air conditioned apartment on the corner of 16th and U. You'll also be welcomed by the other resident - a bird named Gatsby who may have the largest vocabulary of any budgie you'll ever meet. The historical U Street location is excellent and only a short walk to the Metro.

I stayed here for two weeks in April. Antonia gave me all sorts of tips on things to do and how to get around, had coffee ready for me every morning, and has a genuine care that her guests are comfortable and enjoy their stay in her home. I give the Waldorf-Antonia a big thumbs up! Cute, cozy, and comfortable -- and the room was nice, too. Actually, Antonia treated my wife and I like old friends; we arrived late and since we hadn't eaten she prepared a bowl of butternut squash soup, and had a map highlighting local markets and restaurants (it was indispensible) and in general was a terrific host. My wife Michelle and I had a fantastic stay with Antonia for four nights. She has a superb location to see the *real* DC (as former DC residents, we lived in the neighborhood just north of hers) as well as get super fast access to downtown and all the sights.
