NYU
I'm originally from Boston, and now live/work in New York City. We have recently renovated properties to rent out by the night. We enjoy hosting travelers in our units, and have accommodated guests from all around the world in private rooms and private apartments.
I have and MBA from NYU in economics. After that, I worked for the investment banks Bear Stearns and Salomon Smith Barney, and then a private investment firm.
We look forward to creating an enjoyable stay for you in New York City in a smoke free environment!
When we first arrived after a long journey we were exhausted but David was here to welcome us and to explain everything we had to know about the flat and new york ! David was available each time we needed him and made our stay very pleasant and convenient ! He was a really good host the flat was very pratical , clean with a full kitchen! I would recommand this place to stay ( very convenient location near the subway ) to anyone who wants to spend great moments in New york ! Thanks to David... More »
January 2012The room was big enough to accommodate up to 7 people. Everything was clean and organized. The kitchen was great, we had everything we needed. We never met David but Luchiana, the manager, was lovely and comprehensive when we had to change our scheduled time of arrival due to heavy traffic. The location is really good, you can find all kinds of stores in 1 or 2 blocks from the apartment. The subway station is less than a minute walking distance. We would definitely recommend staying there... More »
Adequate — not bad, but not great either. It's decent for a hostel.
i was in new york for the new year.
It is really clean and easy to access.
This small apartment was perfect for my family, but YMMV. I dearly recommend it if you are a group of people looking for a cheap way to be in Manhattan. It was relatively clean (I appreciate the separate cleaning fee), without being shining. The beds were reasonably comfortable: one bigger room with big bed and two bunk beds, one smaller room with a big bed (and the blinking light of the WiFi router that you may or may not be sensitive to), and one bed in the small functional eat-in... The only drawback was the trouble with wireless internet. Otherwise, our stay there was absolutely great. David was very nice. The place is really close to the train station. We will definitely go back.
The landlord was very responsive and informative. The ceiling of the bathroom was leaking. The Internet was extremely slow and could not even handle emails and (website hidden) search. The shower head was not comfortable either. My children were not impressed that the landlord left the notice on our fridge rather than slipped it under the door.
David changed the reservation in this appartment to another one (Central Park Apt A) two days before going to NY and I couldn't do anything. This new appartment was smaller and dirty, specially the bathroom. When we arrived there we called Luchiana (the contact person) but never answer the phone.
The apartment was really nice and the room was big and comfortable. The subway is 30 seconds away and there's a supermarket and a convenience store just next to the building. The street is a little bit far from downtown, the first taxi driver that we took didnt know how to get there, because it's in Harlem. But even so, the taxi costs no more than 20 dollars, no matter where you are in Manhattan. I really liked it! To have a good night of sleep and take a nice shower it's great, after a long... More »
We (my wife and I) spent two nights with our kids (5 years, 2 years and 3 months) in this appartment. two rooms +kitchen and bathroom. The furniture is new. We have just arrived back home and want to thank for a wonderful time in NY made possible with his excellent accommodation. All supplies, bedding, towels, kitchen utensils were included, wow! They even had a gallon of water in the fridge waiting for us! Accomodations were perfect for us as a family to be together. A note on the area-... More »
The place was really clean, and I would definitely recommed this place. The metro is really close and there is a supermarket and a starbucks close by. This is the overall of the apt. My experince was good, but when we landed late at the evening around 10pm and we got to the taxi, I tried to call Luchiana on her 2 mobile phones and I couldn't get an answer. Finally I called David and he picked me up the phone. He gave the instructions to go into the apt and he said that no one would be there... More »
The appartement matches the description. The host answer every question very quickly. Nice neighborhood. Definitely a good choice.
I stayed at the apartment for the weekend to visit NYC with my mom, brother and two sisters. The apartment was clean and well maintained. Don't expect it to be equivalent to a hotel or an inn, bring your own toiletries, including towels, shampoo and soap. The linens are were not the cleanest but ok for two nights. Overall it's in a nice location close to the north tip of central park if you ever feel to explore the park from one end to the other (totally worth it) and within steps to the... More »
Five of us stayed over one night for Thanksgiving break and had a great experience. The shower was amazing. Accommodations were clean and neat. David was friendly and check-in and out were easy and smooth. We absolutely loved the location -- 10 second walk to the subway. We'll definitely stay over again in the future.
Staying at David's apartment was great! It's just as you see it in the pictures, very clean and comfortable. He was very patient and helpful during our arrival and check-in. He made sure that everything went as smooth as possible. I would definitely recommend staying at David's apartment, you even got a supermarket nearby so you can buy your own food and save a little money. The subway is also close so you get to go where you want really easy. Wendell Arosemena.
The room was very small, but the location and people we met there was great. Thanks.
Great and affordable place to stay in NYC/Harlem. All the amenities you need, subway anywhere you need it. Easy as pie if you fly in to JFK to take subway here.
What a great stay! The location is perfect, not even a block away from the subway and there are a variety of little shops and whatnot right there on the street. It's a short walk to St. John's and to the cafe from Seinfeld. The place is kept extremely clean and was easy to settle in to for the week. Communication before arrival was great and their house rules were very clear and easy to follow. I would absolutely stay here again. My only complaint is that the internet doesn't... More »
David was a wonderful host and was able to help me in all my requests. The facilities are nice and the transportation is excellent.
when i arrived i found the room i did not reserve... the place looks much better in the pictures than in reality... the apartment was a hall way with several rooms, a bathroom across the hall and a "leaving room" and kitchen at the end of the hall. it wasn't anything like what i had experienced at other Airbnb. I DID NOT STAY ANY NIGHTS. I gave the key back and asked for a refund. i only got refunded for 50% of the second night... i expected 100% for the second night, none for the first... More »
David There are no words to describe how i enjoyed my stay at your place.. If its your lovely apartment, Great people u meet , and and just an amazing atmosphere.. Be sure i will come back again .. thanks a lot david for being such a good person
While, I did not meet David personally, I could tell he has a good management style. This is because he had staff there to help me get settled. The room was just as adverticed and he really has a nice setup going. Do not let the approach to the facility alarm you, it is really better than it looks from the outside.
Super séjour a NY dans une ambiance auberge de jeunesse avec des hôtes attentifs et agréables. Super bien situé pour visiter Manhattan.
Great accomodations and very conveniently located! David was very, very helpful and made personally sure that our accomodations were clean and ready upon our arrival. I will definitely be using them again and will be recommending them to friend and family that visit NYC.
More »
We enjoyed our stay at David´s place as New York as well. David´s advises about what to see and where to go were really useful (we love Ellen´s Stardust Dinner and Gospel), the room was ok and the location of the apartment too, it´s quite close to the centre. The ony thing - overcrowded bathrooms... Anyway, when we come back to the NYC, it will be to David´s apartment. Thank you!
Had a really good week. Apartment suited us really well. Pretty close to the subway.
David and Luciana are very helpful and kind. they give you all the advices and the funny things to see in NY. The apartment is clean. the only problem was having only 2 bathrooms for 15 people. But it is hard to find a good deal like that in NY.
Great place. We loved it. We stayed for five days and had a great time, having access to a kitchen was a major plus, the apartment is really big, plenty of beds. luchianna was really nice and helpful. We will definitely book them next time we go back.
The location is perfect to go back and forth form Manhattan. THe train C is only across the street. The grocery store next door is very well stocked. the area is going thru soem upgrades. The ladies who take care of the place do an excellent job. Very clean. I meet soem nice people who were also travelling, at the same time. I wished I would of had an inner room as the night group that gathers in thestreet go into the late night and they have loud conversations. This will... More »

The place is good, clean and Luciana always there to help you with anything. We recomend the area very much, supermarket close by,good restaurants, and the best for us was the Church on sunday with the Gospel choir FANTASTIC is at 11am just round the corner.
David was a God sent the weekend I went to New York. The room I had orginally requested was given away to another person at the last minute, so I needed a place to stay immediately. Airbnb found David connected us. David was nice and friendly he gave me great directions in finding his place, the rooms where clean, and staff was friendly, I was very comfortable. The only down fall to the weekend was some foreign students that he had there, they where loud, and junky, but overall the stay was... More »
We stayed here for 10 nights and were a total of 4 people. The apartment is very roomy and sufficient for all of us to have privacy. The apartment is on the 4th floor with no elevator. The only thing that could be better is in the pictures it shows a washing machine and dishwasher but they are not connected. If they were then it would make your stay at this apartment much more desirable. Harlem is a great area and close to the bus and subway and we enjoyed our stay.
We stayed in a big bedroom, with 2 large comfortable beds. The place was fairly clean and the cleaners welcomed us. We didn't meet with David or Luchiana. The other users of the flat were students, and the place was quiet. The restrooms and kitchen were clean and all you needed was available. We didn't have to wait for the restrooms. It was just fine, nothing luxurious but adequate for a week to enjoy NY. There's a nice restaurant/bar just on the corner and the access to public transport is... More »

This is more like a guest house / hostel with private rooms, not really a private home. Everything was spotless clean which was great, room was basic but with nice bedding. Kitchen and toilets in perfect condition and full of little perks. Checking in got confusing for a moment as they were pretty busy, but everything sorted itself out and I enjoyed a perfectly good night´s sleep.
Great place in Harlem. Walking distance to Central Park... and, why not, to midtown Manhattan too! I met a lot of nice people.
David is not a friendly, We book the apartment is not same with photo. The apartment was changed by David. And apartment have not a hot water when we bathing. The house was small.
I highly recommend staying here. The way the place is organized with the lounge, it feels much more like a youth hostel. The price is great, everyone was very helpful and considerate. We will be repeat customers!
Fantastic service the rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. Luchiana is also very helpful as are house keeping who are very friendly. Other plans we had fell through and the hurricane Irene hit so we had to lengthen our stay and they were more happy to accommodate us. We had to change to different rooms but all were very nice and again they were so helpful and the prices very reasonable. On the last few nights we got to stay in the private apartment which was very nice. I would... More »

Nice location in West Harlem Supermarket nearby and close to the subway Problems with washing machine, dish washer and oven (didn't work at all) Mice in the kitchen on the first night Porblems with bed linens (had to call david twice to get the proper size for the settee)
The building is old and smell. There is no elevator. It's a challenge to unlock the door from outside. However, our room is decent - clean & organized.
As we arived at the exact time prevously arranged we were told by the manager of the day, that the apartment was not available for us. An apparent double booking error had occured and only discovered a few hours berore our arrival. It was further away from the subway, however on the second floor instead on the the fourth floor where apartment B is located... More »
The bed had dead bug and body hair and cheese-itz on the floor. The room was size of a closet with a mattress size. Kitchen was clean, but the sheets were dirty, I wasn't comfortable to sleep.
Room was very clean, organized, and comfortable. Better than many hotel rooms I've stayed in for a fraction of the price. Neighborhood was a bit sketchy at night. This wasn't a problem for me and my companions, but some might feel uncomfortable. Luckily, the room is right next to the subway, so you don't have to stay outside for too long.
We had a wonderful stay at David's apartment on 115th Street. Wonderfully clean, great space, and powerful air conditioners to beat this wicked summer heat wave! Had dinner at a great Italian restaurant David recommended, and his guidance on parking saved us from getting blocked in. We'll definitely be back!
We stayed almost 20 days. The room was really small, just the bed (confortable) and nothing else. Where the bed ends, start the wall. We already knew that. But it was a horrible smell in our room, we coudn't open the window, so it was really bad... We discovered that it was the same smell also in others rooms. We were supposed to rent another room but I had mistaken the dates!! So we needed to find new place to stay. But fortunately, they accept us pleasantly, and we enjoyed NYC very much. We really appreciate it. The room was very clean and confortable. Thank you so much!!
Nice place , clean and comfortable.
We have just arrived home in Australia and want to thank David for a wonderful time in NY made possible with his excellent accommodation. It was a great opportunity to stay in Harlem, the people were friendly and helpful and all we needed foodwise was easily accessible. David excelled in helping us in ways not expected of him. Thankyou and we will be promoting you 'down under'
We had a great stay here. The location is really good, just a few meters from the subway. Neighbourhood was good too. We where there with our 2 month old baby and a lot of people on the street offered to help us carry the stroller up and down the stairs. So no rough neighbourhood at all. Clear rules in the house and everyone seemed to follow them so things where quite clean. We would definitly stay here again.
The room was small! But it has all you need to get a nice, comfortable sleep! The bathrooms are cleaned daily as well as the kitchen area. The hosts were extremely courteous and a delight to talk with. The location has great access to get around all of NYC. You can't find more for less like this in New York.
My boyfriend and I stayed here from June 7th until June 13th and it was perfect for us. We really only needed a place to sleep at night because NYC has sooo much to do. The showers in the bathrooms were great and they had a nice community room and kitchen with all the things a person would need to stay. The room was a bit small but worked well for us. Thanks again!
The place was very clean and quiet, and access to Times Square by subway was just a block or two away. Although it was a bit difficult to find the place at first, once located the overall experience was excellent.
Totally clean place to stay.. enjoyed my big room and privacy..great clean bath/shower room.. big bright kitchen with very helpful staff like Luchianna.. easy access to groceries, ethnic restaurants, beauty store, wine store.. A real value for money..AAAAAA+++++++
This is a great place to stay if you are traveling alone and/or looking for an inexpensive place near Manhattan. The room and bathrooms are clean. Clean towels and sheets are provided. Major plus for me was the subway being 1/2 a block from the place.
We've visited NY for the first time and therefore I can't rate the room with 5 stars as I don't have anything to compare it with. In any case we had a really pleasant stay and Luchiana/David and their staff were really nice and helpful. The apartment was clean, quite and makes you feel like you're at home. I case anybody wonders about the area, don't believe to everything you hear - Harlem is quite a peaceful place and we haven't experienced any troubles or nasty looks from the locals.... More »
David's place was great. Not too far from downtown. Minutes to the subway. And a price that can't be beat.
Fantastic Room, very comfortable beds, secure/lockable rooms. Great bathroom facilities, and access to Kitchen and laundry. David and Luchiana are very helpful too.
NIce place, exactly like on the pictures. Comfy beds. The place is near several subway stations and stores, very convenient. It is also close to a few nice places for food (Kitchenette Uptown for brunch and El Aguila for Mexican food, among others, because we did not try everything in the surroundings).
David and Luciana were incredibly helpful and gracious hosts. Their accomodations were new, very clean, and comfortable. I am a consultant who is searching for a permanent apartment and David's accomodations really fit the bill.
me and my boyfriend stayed for about 2 weeks, when we arrived david was there to greet us the building did not look like much but inside was very nice kitchen, common area and bathrooms were very clean we didnt expect it considering everything is shared.... although we did not have any problems the area did not feel that safe at night to compensate, the subway was only a few feet away, c train took us to midtown in 10 min and the 2 -3 trains 2 blocks away even faster. the only minus was the... This is a very cute hostel with full modern kitchen and bathroom facilities, comfortable beds, a wide variety of sleeping arrangements, very clean, and David is a conscientious and nice guy. The location is great for getting into mid-Manhattan with all attractions, right next to a subway stop. It's on a busy street which is safe, and you don't hear it at all in the apartment.
Friendly host and other staff, help to make one welcome and at ease. David is generous with helps and tips of things to do and see. All is neat, clean and tidy, as one would hope for. However public stair-well is a little smelly, but this may be outside of Davids control. Harlem is interesting, and defies any prior misconceptions. I had a small room, and would have found some more shelves to be useful. Etienne de Villiers
Just what I needed. Very accommodating and place was clean and quiet.
This was a pretty good rate. The manager was helpful. But they charged 35.00 extra for late check out,. it is in the middle of Harlem, not real safe at night, and there were prostitutes renting the room next door, with traffic in and out all night.
David and Luchiana, the hosts, are just great. Very helpful, very flexible. The beds are great, there's a kitchen, and the other "tenants" were very nice as well. All in all a very recommendable place to stay for a while - big smiley face.
There was an initial mix-up when we arrived in NY. I had booked the apartment at 116th street based on the listing that stated there were 6 beds for all 6 of my party. Upon arriving we found out that we had been booked at the 119th street apartment that had 5 beds and in fact the listing for the other apartment was inaccurate and would not have accommodated all of us anyway. Luckily two people agreed to share a bed for our 4 night stay. Another bed was offered but the apartment was so... More »

All in all, a pretty good place to stay. Don't be intimidated by the long procedural check-in instructions. Though the room I was in was small, it was warm (but not too warm thanks to the overhead fan with remote control), the bed comfortable, and the lounge/kitchen areas were clean and spacious with plenty of room to store your food. The place was fine, however, the area is very dirty, very surprised at this. Located in Upper Manhattan, I expected more but was disappointed when I arrived. The manager is good and efficient. My main issue was the radiator. It made constant loud claging noise at night and some of the day. Which was dealt with by switching it off but then it was cold. Alternative was using the electric heater but didn't help that well with the cold although there was no noise. Overall, if you're looking... More »
Okay, so I communicated several times with his building manager for the three apartments he has in the buiding in question. I did not realize this was a hostel. It was very nice, actually, and I would recommend it except for one thing. I paid for a week, but after two days I had to leave. This person refused to refund any of my money, although there were other empty rooms. While he's within his rights to keep the money, it really isn't very nice. Keep in mind that this is the kind of person you'll be dealing with. I do feel taken advantage of.
I loved this place!! It was very clean and cool!! I`m sure I`ll be there when I return to NY!
Excellent location, the place was very clean and well organized. I was given extra clean towels. I will definetly stay here again. The host was very considerate and gave all the important details for the area. very good value for money :)
Great apartment, great location. Great Hosts. Responsive and friendly. Will definitely stay again.
The place is nice and clean, you will like it. My room has light and exterior.
Great safe place to stay and clean as a whistle. It was very comfortable and I would definetly stay again. A plus!
The budget room is tiny but it was perfect for me. I was in town for less than 24 hours. I needed a cheap place to change clothes & sleep. Dave's place filled the bill. I was surprised how clean and well maintained the property is. I absolutely will return.
I LOVE this little hostel. SO clean and well run. The staff is friendly, Luciana is a doll. I really enjoyed my complete stay. I made coffee each morning and enjoyed sleeping at night. The beds are comfortable and the sheets smell clean and fresh. The room was a great price and the subway is right down the street. Amazing.
This is a nuanced review, so you have to pay attention! At first, we were placed in the Central Park Cozy Room, which we found to be noisy (because of the pipe that made a loud clanking noise every 10 seconds) and because of a sickly sweet smell. Also, the picture was a bit nicer than the actual room itself. After 20 minutes of being there, we decided to ask for another room, which the lady working there, Luchiana, let us do free of charge. We were moved upstairs to a much nicer, brighter,... More »

The bedroom...well it's brave to call it bedroom, it's very very small. If you are 2 people you will hard fit together in, there space only for the bed! It 's ok if you need JUST a place to sleep. The rest of the apartment is nice, the kitchen is big and full-furnished; the bathroom clean, even though during my staying there was not hot water!
The guest house is very well managed - with clear house policies and housekeepers cleaning the common areas everyday. It is definitely a nice choice if one plans to station in new york and tour around for more than a week!
We where 12 days and was almost impossible to sleep in here because of the noise that the old heather tube makes. We ask David to change the room but never get a response, this never was told us in any severals emails we exchange, neigther in the room advertise. Very nice interior. The location is in harlem so it may not feel as safe at night as compared to if you were in the city. Other than that the place was great but take note that the largest quad room is right next to the street and it gets pretty noisy. Also the place is less than a minute walk from the nearest subway on 8th ave and this makes up for the location a little bit as you need not be out for too long.
Simply put awesome! It was exactly as advertised. It was clean and safe, theres not much more you can ask for when looking for a cheap place to stay for the night. David was great at communicating quickly as well. I'm definitely keeping this in mind for the next time I'm going to stay over in new york city.
Great guy, great service, even greater apartments! Cannot wait to come back! In terms of the price, I think you would be hard pressed to find a place as economical as Dave's apartments. The location is just off Columbia University and Morningside Park and between 2 subway service lines, so central Manhattan is just a quick ride away. The apmts are well maintained and your neighbours friendly airbnb peeps. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back.
We had a great stay. The neighborhood is great, with nice restaurants and shops, the subway station is very close and we could be in downtown Manhattan in no time. The apartment was roomy and we saved a lot of money by taking our breakfast and dinner there. If I come backk to NY, I'll rent this place again, it's a great value for money.
The apartment is in my favorite part of Harlem which is closely located to all my favorite cafes and resturants. The park is about 6 blocks south and the train is across the street. Upon aerobic to the building it does not seem all that special from the outside but once you get into the actual apartment it is a different world. The apartment is constantly being cleaned which I appreciate. David is available if any issues arise and he was very accommodating to me. At first things can... More »
We are a young couple and we stayed 10 days in Morningside Apartment (W 119th St). PRO: -Luminous, clean and spacious apartment for two person. -Luchiana (David's assistant) very gentle and helpfull. -Heating running very fine . -Neighborhood safety and quiet. 7 mins walk to subway (10-15 mins by train to Time Square). - Bathroom, TV and Wifi fully working. -Kitchen fully furnished (a lot of pans!). -Great service (many clean towels). CONS: -Heating sometime a little... More »
It was a large with people from around the world staying there. Some traveled on business others lived there!
Stayed in the central park cozy room and it was great! Just what my partner and I needed, a big comfy clean bed, a cupboard to put things in and a handy coat hook hanger on the wall in a convienient way, next to the door! It has a big window onto the main street which made the experience even better. Great for travelers who only need a place to sleep when out all day as the room is small, but its perfect because there is a kitchen, big tv with cable and couches to hang out if your wanting a... our stay at apt7 on 157 w119th st was pleasant. The neighborhood quiet, the building a bit crumbling, but the apt was clean and new,the triple room was cold (we've been there in december..). Luchiana, that helps David, was very very helpful when we had to have our delayed luggage delivered also because the bell was broken (the driver went away the first time he tried, not nice). they gave additional stoves and repaired the heating by the way. bed linen were not clean in one bedroom.. Nice place, nice people, just beside the subway.
David was very punctual, polite and flexible. The apartment was great. I would use David's services again.
We had a really nice and comfortable stay. It is good value deal for those on a budget. All policies regarding check-in/out and house amenities were explained well to us. Nice location with subway a block away is a big plus, and the facilities are really nice. Will consider re-booking David's place for another trip to the city.
Excellent service, you get a clean room to crash at night after long walks in Manhattan, just a few blocks from Central Park.
This was my first experience using Airbnb, but I'd heard good things from friends who had tried it, so decided to go ahead. I was generally satisfied with the experience. I never met David, corresponding with him on the internet or by phone. His responses to my queries were prompt. He was very matter-of-fact and business-like. We stayed in a small apartment on West 119th Street in Harlem off Adam Clayton Powell. Fairly convenient given the proximity of subway stations on several... More »

David was very responsive. I had a small problem with a key to one of his units and he solved the problem within minutes. Good guy.
good price/value balance. nice guy, clean appt, good condition. would stay there again.
David and his staff were very nice and professional as well as helpful. We enjoyed our stay it was short and sweet. I recommend this place and will come again. If you like to meet people from all over the world and also meet locals that are friendly and know the city and don't mind sharing the information about the subways and directions this is the place for you. Boy, it's tough to come up with a rating for my stay at David's place... On one hand, his place is clean, well-organized, and well-run with great staff. David is a good communicator who provides clear directions and replies quickly to emails and phone calls. Unfortunately for me, I was sharing the space with a dozen of the rudest English college students you could ever meet, making my stay pretty hellish. It was quite impossible to sleep with full-on partying in common areas... More »
Excellent lodging in NYC! David's place made my stay affordable and the property was modern, clean and comfortable. Right on the B/C subway line, it was completely convenient as well. Thank you! I'll call again next time I'm in NYC
The apt was newly remodeled, so top shape... everything we were promised and more. All supplies, bedding, towels, kitchen utensils were included. It was deluxe accomodations and perfect for us as a family to be together. A note on the area- it is a multicultural "city" neighborhood- but at no time did we feel unsafe. If you ARE NOT used to large cities- it would appear unsafe, but the neighbors are used to people coming and going and even helped my mom find the apt when she came walking in... More »
It was great to stay at this appartment. David is a great person and the appartment is very nice and is situated near the central park. It was fantastic to stay there! AAA+
Great Euro Hostel Feel to this smooth running operation.
Stayed 6 nights at Davids place. Everything went fantastic and i had no complaints. I would recommend this place to others and it is no more than 15 minutes by subway from Times Square which you cannot complain with for the price.
My girlfriend and I came to New York City for the first time this month and stayed at the apartment. It was very clean and everyone was so polite. One night we even locked our keys inside the apartment and within minutes someone was there to meet us! Subway stations are very close to the apartment which made going downtown very easy! Thank you soooo much for a wonderful first trip to NYC will def rent from again!!!! Aynsley Wilton Randi Ferrell Virginia Beach, Va
It took a few days on this site to find the place that would be right for my week vacation in nyc. I'm so glad I wound up at Central Park Inn. Place was identical to the pictures. Price was right. Place was clean, kitchen was stocked with dishes and cookware, paper towels, coffee maker. Bathroom stocked with towels, paper. They didn't provide... More »
Everything as expected. All instructions were completely clear since my arrival. Excellent location if you don´t like to walk to take the subway. Big apartment, with many rooms. My only "But" would be that 2 bathrooms for all the apartment are not enough. Being my first time in NY I had a great time there.
This accomodation seems more like an hostel than a room in an apartment: you haven't the possibility to know the host and I think this is not good even if you can know other people (such as Luchiana) who can help you and who are the real responsible of the apartment. This is why I think the real flaw in the apartment is the standard style and anonymity. A part from this, the room in the appartement was nice and comfortable, kitchen usefull, bathrooms cleaned everydays, wifi, supermarket... More »
Very clean and brand new. Had all the necessities for a long stay - nicely applianced kitchen, bath, bedroom. It is in the heart of Harlem - not a problem, but any stayers should be aware. Very good experience.
The room was clean and small. The neiborhood was not very safe, and we felt uneasy going out. We stayed one night then went somewhere else.
10/19/2010 My husband and I stayed at David's apartment. It was a perfect location. I highly recommend this apartment. It has everything you need and a great comfortable bed.The best yet market on 119th street has great prepared meals and fresh produce.Subway close to everywhere you want to go. Thank you again
I stayed with 4 friends in the apartment. We recommend this apartment, it was clean, very close to the subway. The beds were really comfortable. We enjoyed a lot. Thank you for everything.
Very disappointing experience staying there. we thought the bed was made of straw, and it sloped so much we couldn't sleep for fear of falling out of bed.water was dripping through from the bathroom above to the bathroom. The room we had was extremely noisy so we had to keep the window closed. the adress is in the middle of Harlem....and the place is stated as an inn when it really is a backpackers. we saw a room so small it was wall to wall bed with about half a metre of space behind the... I was quite pleased with my small private room, especially for the price. The place had the feel of a small private hostel, due to the shared kitchen and dining/living room as well as the large number of international guests. It is conveniently located near the 2, 3, B, and C subway lines. Calling it Central Park Inn makes it sound more appealing than making it obvious that it is located in Harlem, but I felt safe in the neighborhood. David really helped us out when we needed a last minute place to stay at a great price and we really appreciate that. I thought the stay was ok for the price. I might consider staying again. It's more Harlem than Central Park but it is fairly close to the edge of the park and close enough to trains. When we first booked - I thought we booked a room with two beds (that was what was pictured) but was surprised to find only one bed. David moved us to another building the next day which had... Very Clean, Lotsa of extra mirrors around so easy for the ladies to dress and do hair and make up without taking up bathroom time (they do get a bit busy!) Nice little supermarket right downstairs. Thanks!
clean. convenient location.
Had a great time at Central Park Inn. Very afforable option for staying in NY. Location: West Harlem (6 blocks North of Central Park), Very close to metro, grocery store, and wine shop. Street is a bit noisey. We didn't mind this, but if you are looking for complete quiet, this is not for you. About 20 minutes by metro to Times Square. Room: We stayed in the 'Cozy Room'. It's an incredibly smooth machine! No details are left out, the place is clean and tidy. You get to meet a lot of cool international folks and mingle with the locals!
Everything but the room was perfect. Actually if there wouldn't have been that smell like mold, it would be ok. But that smell was really awful. The other rooms in the apartment weren't like that and if I would ever come back to NYC I would come again and take a different room.
Considering the cost of this hostel/inn it was decent. I would not consider staying here for a long period of time. The pictures are very deceiving, the bathroom which was "newly renovated" bathroom must have been newly renovated a few years ago because it is not what was shown in the photos. The kitchen was very cluttered as well. The room we stayed in we found a couple bed bugs crawling around as well as some weird stains that were there when we arrived. The walls are paper thin, and... We stayed 4 nights and we found the appartment nice, clean the room was great just perfect. The staff were very nice and professional in overal very nice and location good. Thank you
We were really disillusioned by the location of the apartment. I had thought that it was nearby a nice part of Central Park, as the title of the hostel indicates (Central Park Inn). The neighborhood the apartment is located in was really rough and there were many transients lining the streets. The apartment is located in Harlem and therefore you must be careful. Management was disorganized and late for our arrival. Positives: The room itself is nice and the apartment is nice as well.... More »

Good location, very convenient for Columbia students, helpful and very nice staff.
I've been 14 days there and the experience has been nice overall. Some problems that were quicly solved by the hostel. The room is really small, there is no space for anything but the bed, anf you have to wait to get a shower, but the kitchen is well equipped and clean. If you are looking for somewhere in NYC to just sleep, and affordable, this place can be a good choice.
Very easy to make the reservation. A good international group at the location.
Great place to stay. Internet, tv, and towels were available. Service was always available and any questions or concerns can be met since this place is business run. Overall good experience and recommend to other travelers.
Our reservation was very last minute as we needed somewhere to land while moving my daughter to NYC for grad school at Columbia University. David was very responsive and helpful to accommodate our need for housing. The reservation process was smooth, and directions to the apt. were thorough. Excellent value especially as I booked last minute for a friend! Very accommodating....we got a decently priced room for one night on extremely short notice and received thorough directions and transportation advice from David. A clean comfortable apartment in a friendly neighbourhood. Luciana made us feel very welcome on arrival and it was very easy to contact David during our stay. Would recommend the apartment to anyone wanting a relaxing stay in NY.
We had an excellent stay and would stay there again. I accidentally left 3 LP's I purchased in the room (Sun Ra, Thelonious Monk and Parliament/Funkadelic). Could someone at the site hold onto them for me there until I get a friend to pick them up? The Hasidic daycare people next door were very friendly and helpful, maybe they would do it. Thanks.
It’s a very nice and clean apartment. We enjoyed our stay. David was very helpful in getting us directions once we booked it online. The housekeeper was also helpful; she even picked up the phone when I called her at 11:30 at night. We were surprised that there was no soap in the shower. Everything else was great.
It was good only the AC was noisy in my room but everything else was great
The 'apartment' is in a fantastic location - right in the heart of Williamsburg. And it had an okay air conditioner. And there was a couch, a fridge, enough beds, and a shower. Otherwise, it was a bit of a disappointing experience. We arrived to a room full of children (miscommunication) - which is not what we expected after a 24 hour flight and 6 hour wait in the airport until morning! Godd experience
Great Communication from David and Cleaning staff. Place is Hostel Style Living with your own key to room and a safe in room. (Hostels provide budget oriented, sociable accommodation where guests can rent a bed, sometimes a bunk bed, in a dormitory and share a bathroom) The only complaint I had was that the 2 bathrooms were always in use, and you had to really time your effort to get in there to shower. Maybe they can figure out how to give access to bathrooms in both apartments...
we really enjoyed our stay; the room in the appartement was nice and comfortable, kitchen usefull, bathrooms cleaned everydays, wifi, supermarket downstairs open 7 am to 11 pm, and subway and central park just nearby. Will surely come again. We just hade some difficulties to contact Luchiana when we arrived from airport as we didn't know there was a telephone in the appartement.
This place offers great value! I was a little bit worried when I got off the train and saw that the street the property was on looked a bit dogdy, and the stairwell looked a bit dodgy. When you actually open the door to the apartment it is really nice inside. There was a nice chill out area with a huge kitchen and lounge. The free wifi was fantastic and extremely fast, and the rooms were air conditioned. The mattress in the bedroom was extremely comfortable. The place is located... More »

Enjoyed our stay. Great location (so close to the subway). Everything as advertised. Had to wait for the bathroom.
Not a horrible experience, but it was a bit bothersome to come back after midnight to a note on my door not to go in because they had confused the rooms. It wasn't a huge inconvenience, but they could have called to let me know. Moving my bags without talking to me is not cool.
We had a wonderful time in the apartment. Because we told David in advance that we were traveling with our toddler son, he first told us that he would put us in a bed with a king-sized bed (though we had originally booked a queen-sized bed. Then he offered us a 1-bedroom apartment at a nearby location instead for a $20 upgrade fee. The apartment turned out to be fabulous! Plenty of space for a toddler to run around in, and all the amenities you could ask for. The mattress was a bit too soft... More »
We stayed 6 nights in the appartment of david and were a little disappointed. We got a very small room with a bunkbed instead of a normal double bed. There were too little bathrooms and you had to wait quite some time in the morning to get a shower. The kitchen and bathrooms were fairly clean. It is quite far from the city centre, +/- 15 min by subway. It is not in a neighbourhood you enjoy walking around at night, but the appartment is just 30 meters from the subway, so thats ok.
The rooms are clean and there is a regular cleaning service. However, two baths/toilets being shared between the occupants of 6 rooms(number of actual occupants is much more since most of the rooms have more than one occupancy) is too much particularly at peak hours! Staff is polite. The washing machine and the dryers are only for the housekeeping and not for the guest, came as a surprise. Location is convenient from the Sub station.
I thought the accomodations were fair and location terrific during my night stay. The rooms vary in size and bathroom is shared with 4+ other occupants. One side has a nice sit down area, and basic kitchen neccessities. I thought the stay was OK for the price (50/person) and would consider them again.
Booked the room for my parents and they really had a great stay..!!.....Clean apartment and good services.....David was friendly and helpful.....they've booked another room with him to stay a few more days....Highly recommended!
We get 7 e mails in advance. Reminders again and again to call, code numbers, key location, how to operate the code, not to leave suitcases in foyer, etc. Arrive to the sight of both outside doors wide open. Abberaton? Get up next day, come downstairs to both outside doors wide open. But clean rom, firm mattress, no complaints, just a bit confused on the "security" issue.
Clean and comfy. I stayed in the budget room, small but fine for a short stay. Luchiana v.helpful and kitchen and wi-fi a treat. Thanks!
Great Place if you like Central Park, Jazz in Harlem / elswhere or Metropolitan Museum of At or Guggenheim. Nice Pad. Clean!

Very conveniently located and confortable.
Ideal for singles, even if there were couples of all ages. Very good stay. The place is very close from the subway and clean. David and all the other people were available. Will go back there for sure.
I enjoyed my stay and especially David and Luchiana was great!
Booked the central park budget room 2 for 4 nights. The room is small but clean. For some reason, the room was overbooked, so I had to move out and slept on the couch for the last night. I got refunded. Communication with David was easy and efficient, so I have no complaints. Met quite a few interesting people in the hostel and had some real good conversations with them. Luchianna is really nice and very easy to talk to. Overall, this was a good experience.
Very comfortable place , i ended up staying 5 nights there insted of 3 , Thanks every one i'll be coming back for sure.
Got a much larger room than expected and had a lovely stay for one night. It was a room facing 116 which can be noisy until late at night. The TV was not hooked up, and internet connections was very on and off. Otherwise very clean and comfortable (could use a few more bathrooms), great for the price. Will come again.
Overall, I was satisfied with my stay in the apartment at 157 W. 119th Street. Its greatest assets are David and his kind and efficient assistant, Luchiana. They responded in a timely manner to my requests and took my concerns seriously. I felt well taken care of during my eight-day stay, and I am a woman in her mid-40s who likes her creature comforts. Nice and clean apartment. Clean sheets and towels, everything was prepared. Sometimes was litle loud from patio (loudnes came from some neighbour building). I had a great time and everything was clean in the apartment. But my friend and I rented separate rooms, but David double booked my friends room so he was forced to stay in my room for one night. Then, David called my friend AGAIN the next night because he double booked ONCE AGAIN and tried to kick him out of his room to stay with me TWICE! This is really bad experience for me. Should I give it even one star. Don't believe the picture. It is so misleading. The room is so small, just as a full size bed. And they put a full size mattress on a single bed frame. And I don't think it is clean. Also this guy is very rude when I was trying to talk with him.
We stayed in the central park budget room and as far as I know it's been a great stay except for some minor glitches such as the hard-to-open main door, the small room barely enough room for 2 persons and the washer and dryer not available for guests. However on the other hand there's the nice atmosphere with tons of opportunities to meet different people, the nearby subway station literally a stone's throw away, the well-equipped kitchen and the helpful people who were willing to help to... The room was good, a lot better than what I expected. David was fairly accommodating as far as getting me a room when I really needed one (I was stranded in NYC and need a room that day and he was able to get me one on short notice). My second night there was no hot water for the shower and the kitchen was incredibly cold. However, David and the people who ran the hostel were very responsive and as soon as we complained there was someone who responded.
The room was clean as promised. Unfortunately that was really the only enjoyable part of this trip. I was later checking in and had to go pick up the key from their "security" guard at the laundry mat a few blocks over. He wasn't there and I had to meet him at the West Harlem Community Organization. He finally came down and got me the key and I was about my way. This place worked just fine. It is, apparently, undergoing some sort of makeover, meaning the halls are a bit littered with debris and the kitchen is unsettled, but the room was very clean and nice. I wouldn't wander too freely late at night in the area so I'd make sure to familiarize myself with where the place is and get a key before it gets too late. Very close to a subway, and David was quick to respond to our last-minute room needs.
I arrived at 116th King room in Harlem. I was alittle disappointed that I didn't receive the room I booked, especially since I paid extra from the aribnb listing. The people working there were very nice and the bed was comfortable. I would go again if my room is guaranteed.
At first everything seemed very dodgy, I had to go to a Laundromat to meet someone who would call the person who had the keys, all without ever really communicating with David. However the apartment was wonderful and once I settled into New York transport it became a great base for my holiday.
David's an excellent host and the stay I had at W 116th St was really nice. Due to a guest changing their plans David solved everything perfectly letting me stay in another and even larger room for no extra charge. Even though I arrived during Thanksgiving the greeting and help I recived to get installed was top class. I even got a list of nearby churches I might like to visit as I'd mentioned I love churches as well as nearby convenience stores, delis and locations of subway stations. If... More »
We did not realize when we made our booking that this was a hostel, nor that we would be sharing the bathrooms with so many people. We have been in one of the David apartment on the 119th Street. Walls are very thin (better you use earplugs)and you are not very close to the center but the rate is very good and we also loved to live in Harlem, even if for only 10 days.
For the price it can't be beat. So you put up with a little noise, a few inconsiderate guests, and a sketchy neighbourhood. I was there to sleep, not to hang around and watch tv ( a nice touch that let me find out about the weather and other things) or to make friends with people in the lineup for the soup kitchen down the block. Mind your own business and be alert to and from the subway and you'll be fine. Luckily for me, it wasn't full up so I was upgraded to a bigger room. Other nice... More »
Having stayed in a Central Park budget room, it is just as it's photo shows and the staff keep everything v. clean and are wonderfully friendly. If you are a light sleeper, however, you will need v. good earplugs as all sounds carry.
Central Park Room -W 116th - Queen bed Room PROS: good price and good ambient in the apt CONS: I can see some cockroach in the kitchen and my room dont have blind and it was a little noisy (my windows was in front of 116st is a street with traffic on early mornings). Laundry was NOT working Conclusion: It's a good choice for low budget
The room was exactly as described and for the price it can not be beat. Close to two subway stations and a supermarket literally next door. If you are looking for a place to sleep the night while you are busy sightseeing all day then this is the place.
The place is very well maintained, and spotless. The rooms are sparsely furnished, and contain lots of beds, for example in the ParkWest room we stayed in there was a king, a queen and a dsingle convertible to double. Lets say wall to wall beds. The area felt safe although there are lots of people who are involved perhaps in rehab, or programs for the poor, so can appear out of place. the staff was responsive and friendly. No laundry was available. Kitchen available so one could cook... More »
I really enjoyed my stay at David's place. My room was clean, and quiet. I especially enjoyed my privacy. It is a place I will likely stay at again.
Had a great time in new york.Apartment was very comfortable, ideally situated in harlem, about 50 yds from subway station. Good value for money.I,d recommend it.
Our stay was very pleasant and the rooms were very clean. It was great that there were two bathrooms and an eating area. The beds were super comfortable and the street was actually pretty quiet. The subways were super close and the cleaning staff was really nice. If returning to NY, we would definitely stay again! There were little things that could have been better but overall everything was great. It was a little frustrating that the stove/oven, coffee maker and toaster oven was not... More »
This room is good for someone looking for a youth hostel. If you appreciate being able to party late (no curfew, unlike some youth hostels), this place is for you. The room was clean and extremely minimal, with what we needed. Unfortunately, we are not young partiers, so the guests that came in late each night (say, 6am), loud and drunk, mean that we would not choose this again. The rooms are very close together, so any noise travels throughout the apartment. It was easy to check in,... More »
Pretty standard accommodations with the usual hostel kinds of considerations. The place was very clean and supremely located. The other guests for the most part were quiet and respectful. We had to switch rooms twice (once due to scheduling, the other because a new floor was being installed), which was frustrating but acceptable. Some of the rooms on the inside are very quiet; the exterior rooms can be loud due to traffic proximity. The temperature also varied wildly from room to room -- we... More »
We really liked David's place. It was a great location and had everything that we needed and David assisted us with things like providing a baby cot. There was all the linen that we needed and I didn't call on David or his house manager, but got the sense that if there were any issues I could have had them resolved. There were a few negatives. It was not as clean as I had expected which was only an issue for us as we had a baby crawling on the floor so it meant I looked closer than I used... More »
Had a fantastic and comfortable stay. David, Barbara, Hector and Luciana were all very welcoming and helpful. Not the greatest area, but the greatest price.
It was not great but it was good. The bath is great but anyway it is shared with other 5-6 rooms. The right question to ask next time I use this webpage will be with how many people are we sharing the apartment. David has 3 apartments with 6 rooms each, each room has between 1 and 4 beds, so be aware of how many people is at the apartment. Even with that, I dind't feel it crowded. Any way, it is quite good. I would recommend it with the advise that you will be sharing two baths with a... More »
Rooms can be in better condition but OK for low prices. Metro station very closeby. Unfortunately, laundry and dishwasher were not working during our week long stay which was quite inconvenient. Don't be too taken with the pictures online; you will be sorely disappointed. Be prepared to share the kitchen and two washrooms with nearly twelve other people. Beware of cockroaches!!
This was the worst travelling experience that I have ever had. The apartment was extremely dissappointing; there was a dirty mattress in the hallway and cockroaches. David was extremely confrontationonal and even had the audacity to yell at us on the phone. I'm sure he sleeps fine at night.
A few small problems like other guests making a lot of noise, the room not being ready upon arrival and tricky keys. But cannot beat the apartment for such a low price. Good fixtures & fittings; ruff but convenient location. Would stay here again if on a budget.
We had a great stay! People were courteous and we loved our room. It was a great stay and will defiantly stay again. We didn't feel nervous or unsafe where we were staying at all. It was great. Thanks again David! Jackie M.
Thanks for the communicativeness See you next time!
my wife and I were visiting NYC for a few days. When we first arrived, I didn't get the room I was asking for. Later on I was told it was an upgrade which I disagree. The room was dark, and the a/c fan was too noisy. In order to sleep, I had to put a towel on top of the vents to muffle the noise. The bed, however, was super big. Next day, I was moved to the room I requested. It was much brighter and I could let fresh air come in. David was nice during our email conversation but wasn't... More »
Me and my boyfriend stayed for a week in NYC in a room at Apartement 1 in 116th street. As we arrived late in the evening we were a little confused about getting the keys but luciana was very helpful on the phone and explained us everything (you have to get the keys at a laundry on the other side of the street). Unfortunately our room was not ready, yet, but then (fortunately!) we got an upgrade and could stay in a room with a king sized bed for the whole week. The room, the towels and sheets... More »
We only stayed there one night and only met the lady who let us in, but it was good overall. The room and the bathroom was clean. The neighborhood was strange at first, but the subway is just a minute walk and there are lots of people on the street.
My husband, son and daughter stayed in Central Park Room as my daughter was moving into Barnard College at 7:00am the next morning. The apartment was great - nice beds for everyone and plenty of space. However the neighborhood is severely lacking places to eat on a Sunday night. They wound up getting crackers, cookies and juice from some convenience store because nothing else was open and this was at 7:30pm.
I stayed at the loft in Williamsburg and although I knew going into it that the apartment was a couple of beds in a daycare, there were several things I wasn't happy about. First of all, upon arrival, the door to the apartment was open and the people next door had the combination lock. The key was NOT in the apartment as David had told me it would be---I had to get it from the people next door. There were also no towels in the bathroom and I was given no instructions on how to work the... More »
I had a great time there- very clean and professional - David made sure everything was ok with me and the housekeepers are very friendly. I will recommend it to my friends. Thanks David Melvin
i really enjoyed my stay here, very secure place. I stayed in apartment 2 and while it was nice, there was mildew on both bathroom's shower curtains....it was still a great stay, and great location
This place is located a stone's throw from the subway station - pretty convenient that way. Close to Central Park as well. I quite liked the room - nice, clean and decently sized. The bathrooms were shared but very clean. There's a kitchen, washer and dryer as well. We were able to drop off our bags earlier in the day before we checked in - so that was quite convenient. David and Luciana were pretty helpful getting all the arrangements in place. It took a bit of time getting into the... More »
I didn't meet David, but he was nice and helpful on the phone and with emails. The accommodations were adequate. This isn't a cozy room in someone's apartment. It's a hostel, which is interesting in its own right, but can be a different experience if you're not expecting it. The neighborhood is densely West African which I found interesting but some may find intimidating. Twice at night I had people warn me about getting robbed because of my camera which either speaks to how friendly and... More »
I stayed in the Central Park budget room at the last minute and I have to say, for the price it cannot be beat. You have nothing more than a bed in a small room, but it's all you need if you just need a place to crash. The apartment is clean and well laid out. Definitely has a hostel-type vibe. It's on 116th St, so it's a little high up in NYC, but the subway stop is less than a block away and it's easy to get around. Like I said, the price it right.
David offered me the Brooklyn loft when I made an "urgent stand-by" request on airbnb...I had just a few hours to find a place, and he came through with an early check-in (we were flexible with the cleaning and internet hook-up, in exchange). If you are looking for a place in Williamsburg (my favorite neighborhood for eating in NYC) the location could not be better, even though there is some street noise. Whatever - -2 blocks from the L, and across the street from EGG, the best place for... More »
This was exactly what I was looking for—a budget place to sleep whenever I fly into NYC. There's a common area/kitchen with a bit of a hostel vibe where some backpacker types were cooking & watching tv, but the place is definitely a step up from a hostel. I like the neighborhood too. It's Harlem but I had no problem walking around and getting late night snacks from convenience stores in the area, after midnight. And if you're still worried about the hood know that you can make the subway... More »

David seems like a really cool guy. He was really helpful with a recommending some good shopping spots. If you are going to the Meatpacking district look sharp! In the shower I, only noticed 2 heads rather than six discussed. No biggie. It looks like David he has had extra wall outlets put in (unit 6b anway) so you will have adequate places to charge your various gadgets. The staff is great! very accomodating. It is a cool place to hangout and if you are lucky you run into some cool... More »
Modest room but for $40 per night what do you expect. Wireless and other facilities ok. 5 minute walk to central park. Would recommend for travellers on a budget.
David was so helpful with getting us to NYC and helping us have a great time while we were there. His staff are friendly and helpful as well and we loved getting to know them. We stayed in 3 different rooms and all of them were clean and well furnished. You are still sharing a house/bath with other people but the experience overall was great. I would stay there again.
The room and the bathroom was clean and the house can be reached easily. My only concern was, that there were no lamps at the bed for reading. (CP Cozy room)
:) My boyfriend and I enjoyed staying with David. There was a misunderstanding when we first moved in, and David was nice enough to upgrade us to a better room. He had cleaning services every day, so the restrooms were pretty clean, despite sharing with many strangers. He was also very flexible and able to accommodate us when we had changes in our schedule. bottom line: professional and clean for the price asked :) 1 minute from the C/B lines a plus!
My gilfriend and i recently stayed at Davids place and enjoyed our stay. We stayed 3 nights in a central park room on 116th then moved to the apartment on 119th which we were very happy with. The subway is very close and easy to catch to surrounding areas. David was very helpful and gave us plenty of good information, we would definatly stay here again.
I loved the place, very close to the subway and very clean. Just perfect for somebody who want to save cost and just want a place to leave stuffs and sleep at night. I am going back there for sure if you need to go to NYC. The place is safe as i noticed that a lot of stores were open untill late at night. well, if the area is not safe, they would not open that late, right? I was a little freak out at first, becuase of a lot of black people were hanging out every where. but, then i noticed... More »
Well, we stayed for 6 nights at w 116 th then there was a confussion the first night, the man at the laundry gave to another guest our keys. we were 3 and had to sleep in ONE bed. Staying at David's was perfect for my situation. The location was spot on, the room was clean and well kept. I enjoyed my stay and the PRICE was unbeatable! Thanks Dave.
the Central Park Budget room may be a little depressive (so small and without a picture on the wall), anyway if you are looking just for a cheap place to sleep in this is a good choice
We stayed for 5 nights and found David very friendly and welcoming. The room was of a really high standard, especialy considering the price for NY. The area was fine, right by the subway so it was easy to get around and a supermarket next door. Would definitely recommend and will stay again if we ever go back to New York!
A friend and I stayed at the West 116th St apt in Harlem which was conveniently located to everywhere I needed to go and everyone I needed to see. I booked the CP Cozy Room but we got a smaller room with a full size bed and a not so sunny view. The room itself was sparse but comfortable. We were only there for 1 night so it wasn't a BIG deal but it mattered some. The entire apt is rectangular and narrow and there was a long sofa in the hallway which made the space feel crowded. We had a terrific four days at the 116th Street address on our Round-the-World trip. The comfortable queen sized beds and pillows were wonderful after two weeks of hotel stays on hard beds, and it was great to be able to do our laundry for free in the washer/drier. Everything in the shared kitchen was top quality, and the tripple shower head in the shower was a treat. All the rooms in our shared flat were occupied by interesting young people from all over the world, and we never had any noise... More »

Exactly as advertised and excellent value for the money. Pros: The location is close to city attractions and very close to the subway for easy transportation. The room and shared areas where clean. Nice to have the living room and kitchen and laundry faculties. Two separate washrooms so very rare that you have to wait. Value for money. David took the time to greet us. A wonderful experience. I loved the United Nations atmosphere with guests from Australia, France, Italy, Germany, Peru, Egypt etc., and the engaging conversations in the "family space" - kitchen, dining-living-recreation area. The easy access to the subway, supermarket, bank and shopping area was a definite plus. David is an excellent host and I'll be back.
I stayed in Davids Central Park Apt and absolutely loved it. I had a great time and David was a great host. I highly recommend his place if you are in need of a place to stay. The surrounding neighborhood is very nice and is constantly being upgraded with quick easy access to the subway.
David is an excellent host. Very helpful and friendly. Would recommend anyone visiting NYC to stay at one of David’s apartments. Quality rooms and service for reasonable prices!
We had a very enjoyable stay at David's apartment in Harlem. It was value for money and perfect for us as we spent a lot of time out and about but were very comfortable in the apartment also. David has a wonderful concept here (think youth hostel but with private rooms, shared bath, shared kitchen). He is genuinely concerned with customer service and provides a good value for money in an expensive city. The place was spotless and comfortable, close to everything we had to do. David was there at check in and made sure we were settled in the apartment. The place was a bit in-process, with some superfluous furniture in corners. You should bring earplugs, because sounds in the hallway and in apartments on the same floor travel without mercy. All in all, a great place, and we'd book with David again!
Had a great stay here, just 2 minutes from central park. Clean rooms, kitchen and two bathrooms. Harlem is also a great place to be. It seems quite save and you find some good food around. Definitely worth it trying.
Our experience was quite bad. While David did try and compensate by giving alternate options, we didnt get what was agreed on the email. Also, there was virtually noone at the place to assist for anything. Breakfast was not available as well.
This place is great, the appartment is clean and the room is cosy (we took the Cosy Room) :-) There's a kitchen full equiped that helps us to save money. The area is very safe, the 116th metro station is just at 1mn and it takes less than 15mn to get to Times Square. A supermarket is just next the door and it's daily open from 7 to 10pm. David was very accommodating. He made room for me in one of his apts that was still under renovation but also gave me access to another unit so i had full use of all facilities. We stayed here in the end of April and was fully satisfied with our stay. David is very pleasant and hospitable man, it was really nice to meet him. The apartments are clean, the beds are soft and the price is really, really low. Great choice for those who walks the city all day long and returns home to drop dead into the bed.
David is a responsible and reliable landlord. His appartments are clean and nice. Perfect for short-term stay....he provides pretty much everything necessary. Interesting group of people stay in his appartments too. Will highly recommend!
Uh ya...where should I begin... The room was OK, but I had constant interruptions; they had to keep coming into the apt. It wasn't clean when I arrived either and no cable. David did give me a small credit but honestly I would have rather had the stay I was promised than need a refund = /
Top-notch!

La casa muy linda y muy limpia. David encantadaro y simpatico. Es muy recomendable para pasar unos dias en NY.
David really provides great service and the best rooms for the best prices. The bedrooms were amazing, fresh linens and towels were promised, the bathrooms and kitchens were maintained at its best. I was new to New York and worried that the apartment being in Harlem would be dangerous, but the neighborhood had 24 hr. security and he provided a lot of information for us to go sightseeing. After a little confusion, as we arrived quite late, our stay at David's 116th St apartment was great. We stayed in the King Bed room which I highly recommend. The bed was amazingly comfortable I slept so soundly, though this may have been because we were going to bed at 3am. Easy access to the subway and some cheap and delicious African restaurants nearby. The kitchen at the apartment is well stocked with cookware and there is a supermarket right next door. Very convenient and a great price... More »
David is very honest and accommodating with all of his guests. He was very helpful. We can say that each of the photos he posts are exactly what you receive when you are his guest. I recommend him fully . I want to contact him again. Price for night stay is very cheap, place is clean and safe. Harlem neighborhood is very safe area. A good location to stay and visit the city. David è una persona veramente gentile,ci ha dato molte informazioni utili. La casa è esattamente come si... More »
Nicest room by this price in the area just couples of blocks away from the central park. Professional facilities for travelers, espacially for youth!
David is very helpful and friendly, so just ask and he'll give you lots of information about the neighborhood. Apartment is comfortable and clean. We were afraid a bit of Harlem's reputation, but the area is safe and very close to metro.
David was very accommodating. He is very friendly and is more than willing to answer any and all question about New York City. The rooms were clean. The beds were very comfortable. The apartment was cleaned daily and the cleaningcrew was very friendly and willing to get anything you needed(towels, sheets, etc.) Literally 100 feet from the subway (l0 minute ride to Time's Square). It is defenitely the best place to stay for the price. I wasn't too sure about staying in Harlem but once we... More »
David was very accommodating and made sure we were comfortable at his place and in New York city in general. The place was a very convenient: it was a short half a block walk to the subway station, and it was located on the other side of Morningside Park, close to Columbia University. I stayed here to check out the university and the city and it was great. The only minor issue we had was that the hot water went out, but it wasn't David's fault and he got it to work soon after. I highly... More »
I stayed in one of the rooms on 116th (Central Park Room) and thoroughly recommend it! It was clean, spacious and had an interesting group of people staying there. It was minutes from the subway stations, one going into downtown Manhattan and the other going towards Brooklyn so easy to get anywhere you wanted. There's a Rite Aid and Starbucks around the corner and a grocery store next door so everything you needed close by. I recommend it for anyone wanting to come to NYC on a budget!
David was very helpful and has a nice place. Very worth the money.
I booked a week stay at David BnB and was pleasantly surprise at the accomodations. For the price I got a A+ room with linens, towel and most importantly WI FI!!! I was in between moves and need a place to crash for a week. I didn't want to leave after the week was done, as this re-modeled apartment and other tenants made me feel as if it was my own place. I totally recommend this place to anyone visiting or who need temporary living. David is amazing and caters to your needs. Plus, it... More »
I am really satisfied with my stay in David's room. Location is great, just 10 minutes from the north-west of Central park, few steps from 116 street subway. The room was nice with a very comfortable bed. Bathrooms were always clean, everything is just renovated. The kitchen is cozy and very well equipped. I am grateful to David for his help and atteniton. It was very pleasant to meet up with interesting and friendly people from different counries staying there. I would recommend to stay in... More »
David did beyond what was required. He even mailed me my laundry I accidently left in his apartment! The space was beautiful.
Our stay was pleasant. David is very accomodating and keeps the apt and rooms nice and neat. I will definitely suggest this place to friends traveling to NY in the future.
David's place is great! The location is really convenient and the place is clean and orderly. David was also extremely helpful as he provided us with useful information about NYC. I had a great time with fellow apartment guests. I would definitely recommend David's place to my friends.
David's Place was cleaned and save. Very close to public transport, it was a charme to stay there for my first trip to NY. David was very responsible for his customer and was there for every questions. If was my first experience with AirBnB and I will stay with it.
David was a great host. He is super accomodating. His propertties are very clean and all of the fellow guests were also respectful and clean in the living spaces. This is definitely hotel quality for a reasonable price.
I stayed in one of the 116th apartment rooms. The place was very neat, can tell that it was recently renovated. The room was very clean and neat. Clean sheets, and awesome bathrooms. I can't believe that I paid this price and stayed at this nice of a place. My friend came over, and he gladly let her stay, with airbed and all. I also had a weird schedule and had to change some dates, but he was greatly accommodating to all my needs and my trip dates. Definitely going to return if I ever visit... More »
I stayed at the budget room (surely is tiny, but I traveled by myself.). So, it was a good size for one person. When I get to the apt I have a problem with my key for the apt door, but one of the people lived there helped me. The room was okay, but it seems like the linens was messy not as neat from the picture and the trash didn't empty out from the room. Oh well. Overall I had a good experience living in there.
I highly recommend staying in one of David's rooms for anyone looking for a safe, very clean, nicer alternative to the traditional hostel or "budget hotel." I am commuting to NY from Philadelphia a few days every week, and have been staying in David's rooms. Even better, they are half a block from the subway and only 6 blocks north of Central Park. I talked to him a lot, and it is obvious he takes great care and pride in the places he rents out and listens to guests requests. The bathrooms... More »
David's place is immaculately clean and well-maintained, and the bed was more comfortable than most hotels. A great value.
We enjoed our 5 days stay a lot and we can recommend the rooms David rents out in his appartment in a nice area of South Harlem, very close to the Central Park. You have an affordable private room and share 2 clean bathrooms with the other people who stay there. Lots of shops to buy what you need and what you might want to cook in the fully equipped nice kitchen... You have wireless-lan, and with David you will find a person, who really cares for his guests and will be there if you should... More »
The room more than lived up to it's description. We had a great time and will be looking forward to staying over again in the future.

David is an awesome clean and considerate guest. come back anytime.
October 2011Good guest.
Not sure what kind of business David is running, but he seems to not tell the truth on other peoples spaces. He comes across as a bit of a scam artist. Be warned
Great to deal with. He was very professional through out and enjoyed working with him!
David was pleasurable and professional to deal with! I can recommend dealing with David! :-) All the best! Nina

David's friend was a clean and quiet guest.
