I will state the good things about the apartment first. The location is wonderful. Within walking distance of just about everything. The doorman were very nice and helpful. The apartment is large for a 1 bedroom .

I do not feel that Lucia's review is at all fair or accurate. I would like
to offer a defense, as I feel this is completely wrong. I'm really sorry
Lucia has so many complaints about my apartment. I wish she had told me
during her stay (I was always available by phone), instead of telling me
weeks later in a bitterly negative review. As an airbnb host, I work hard
to make sure that my apartment is clean, tidy, ready for my guests. I love
and take care of my apartment, not just for the guests, but it is my home!
And of course I want my guests to be happy in it (so they will also take
care of it), and will do everything to make their stay enjoyable.
Regarding Lucia's complaints:
- about cleanliness, I have a cleaner come in for a few hours before every
guest's arrival. This is why I charge a cleaning fee. As you can see none
of my other guests has had an issue with cleanliness. Lucia did not
contact me at all during her stay, or after, about cleanliness or any of
the things she seems so unhappy about in her review. It was only after I
asked her for a review that she complained, and then only about hair in the
bathtub. I apologized and refunded her 50% of the cleaning fee right away,
as it is possible that the cleaning person missed a few spots that day.
50% seems fair to me considering I did pay someone to come clean, and she
and her family left my apartment so dirty (dirtier than normal), that I had
to bring in the cleaners again after their stay which I normally don't need
to do. I think this upset her greatly, as she wanted 100% of the fee
refunded, so afterwards she posted her very negative and inaccurate
review. There is NO WAY the apartment was dirty as she described- my
bathroom, kitchen, refrigerator are all very clean, I have a cleaner clean
on a regular basis. It is my view that Lucia has an unusual expectation of
a clean apartment.
- the food in the refrigerator was definitely not spoiled! I honestly
don't know where this is coming from. Please see how other guests have
appreciated the breakfast items I sometimes (when I have time to run to the
store) leave for them.
- her complaint about wi-fi is also baffling, as it works for me, and all
the other guests. Again, she never contacted me during her stay about
wi-fi or anything else..
I think her complaints about the "trash bags" in the kitchen and lack of
regular coffee may be an indication of her level of expectations. There
are no trash bags in the kitchen. I believe she is referring to the paper
grocery and shopping bags which are stored in a cubby underneath the
kitchen counter. They are neatly folded and stashed their for re-use.
They aren't trash bags... As for her complaint about the lack of regular
coffee (that there's only decaf, which is what I drink because I am
sensitive to caffeine), first, hosts are not expected to provide coffee or
any food items for guests. It's simply not a valid complaint. Second and
perhaps more serious, is that it clearly states in my house rules to please
not use my personal items in cabinets. Guests can help themselves to food
and toiletries I've left out for them, but are expected to please stay out
of the cabinets. My nespresso pods are stored in a cabinet. Clearly she
broke this house rule. And yet feels outraged that I only have decaf
coffee in the apartment.
She complained about there being no cable TV. I never claimed to have cable TV in the apartment- it shows clearly on the listing: TV (I didn't select Cable as one of the amenities featured!), so how can she complain about that??
I hope you will read all of the reviews, how Lucia's is so starkly
different, and take into consideration my response above. I am happy to
