  Me and my family came to stay here at Harlem Garden apartment for the second time! Once again we had an amazing time and this apartment really is home from home. So modern and cosy with a well equipped kitchen - we decided to stay in most evenings and cook at home! I highly recommend this apartment, such a brilliant location and excellent hosts - the lovely Frank and James. We will be back!

The apartment is quite spacious, we were 4 people, has all the necessary kitchen is fully staffed, which was important for us, we love to cook! -) There is a patio where there is a barbecue, table, chairs and sun loungers.   This was the first time I tried to join NY living in a apartment....what to say....SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!! I won't stay in a hotel anymore!!!!   This is a great appartment. If you want to go slightly off the beaten track into Harlem but have an affordable, picture perfect & safe appartment (even with a backyard and BBQ, hairdryer, toaster etcetc), come here. The bed in the bedroom has a really great mattress, in the livingroom the pulloutbedmatress is alright but not spectacular. We were 2 couples and it is definitely roomy enough for 4. Also, James and Frank are very friendly and helpful. I recommend this place 100%. Enjoy!

  Right from the beginning, Frank welcomed us warmly. The place was clean and very nicely decorated with everything we needed including washing machine and drier.   We were very pleased with the apartment. It was comfortable (even on the hottest weekend of the year!), clean, quiet, and uncomplicated. Good parking on the street and a very interesting and seemingly safe neighborhood. Loved the fried chicken and waffles!   Clean and well equipped apartment with a very comfortable bed and a good shower and bath. Two minor shortcomings: it became very hot inside (despite the a/c) and the bunk-bed’s mattress wasn’t really comfortable. Frank was very kind and helpful.   Our family of four stayed at James' apt. last month and we had a very enjoyable stay. The other reviewers have said it all. It is beautifully docorated and has all necessary amenities. James and Frank are very pleasant and accommodating hosts. This was our second experience of renting through airbnb and proved to be as wonderful as our first.

  It was awesome! The apartment was exactly the same as on the pictures, everything was as described and we had a wonderful stay. We were a group of four, so 2 slept in the bed and 2 on the sofa, it was perfect. The kitchen was nice and had everything. I even don't have all these things at home in my kitchen :) Frank is so kind, thanks for the great stay and printing the voucher for our rental car :)

  Apartment was well presented and James arranged for the keys to be easily handled. Be aware that it's 8 blocks from the 8th ave express subway so it's close enough that it's not a problem but don't plan on making multiple trips back to the apartment if you're hanging out below 52nd.

The convenience stores at the end of the street were fantastic, and the subway is just a few minutes walk away. Most importantly though, Frank and James were both delightful to speak with, very helpful, and were always available when we needed something.   I had a very good experience with Frank and James in the Harlem apartement. It's a beautiful, super clean place, with all that you need. It's a bit hot though but I guess this is all NYC in July. The bedroom had AC though but not the living-room where I slept! The kitchen had everything and there was a washing facility for free. Frank is A LOVELY host. Very nice and friendly.   I would def. recommend this cozy apartment to my friends for many many reasons: the hosts were so nice and kind during our stay trying to be helpful to the guests. Moreover, the apartment were very clean and bigger than expected and equipped with kitchen so we could save some money for breakfast and lunch. One last thing, parking!! It was quiet and safe and a short walk to the subway with quick ride to anywhere in Manhattan you care to go.   we had read previous reviews and hoped to God that the place was a little like what had been described we were completely blown away by the pure sophistication of the place, the amazing attention to detail the accessibility of harlem to the rest of New York and the hosts were just amazingly warm. We would definately come back

  Just returned from this great apartment where I spent a long weekend with my son for his 18th birthday. The best thing was coming back to the quiet sleek calm interior and being able to recover after mad days out in the city. Overwhelmed by how everyone goes out of their way to be friendly in Harlem. Would definately come back. James and Frank are very friendly too. Thanks you two.

  We visited Zabars and then cooked dinner for a friend who visited for the day from Connecticut. The train stopped at 125th Street so we could walk to pick her up. Everything is ready in the kitchen for cooking. Neighbors are friendly and apartment is extraordinarily quiet at night. We loved it. Beth and Jack

  We just loved staying at the Harlem Garden Apt.! It was the perfect comfort to come back to after long cold and rainy days in the city. We even explored a historical Harlem bar, thanks to the telling photo on the wall. It was nice to find new places un-explored for a city i used to live in. As a fellow interior designer, it was inspiring design-wise and beyond comfortable.   We stayed here for 2 weeks and found it to perfectly meet our needs of having a comfortable place to return to after sightseeing, being close to transport (bus on Frederick Douglass ave and subway on W135th & St Nicholas), and being in a quiet street.   Really nice place. Frank and James are great!!! They like to talk with you and if you need something...just ring the bell upstair. The apartment is clean and exactly like you see on the pictures. The subway is five minutes walk and the supermarket next the house. Per tutti gli italiani...andate sul sicuro :-)

  This is a perfect place as far as we are concerned, We loved the location.We did all the tourist things in the city and returned home to Harlem for our nice quiet evenings. We even sat on the stoop and drank wine on several nights. There is also an American Legion Hall across the street that has a full bar with low cost drinks, just sign in and order a drink or some food. Harlem is wonderful, everyone treats you great.We would highly recommend the garden apartment.

  Though it has been said by all the preceding commenters, this is indeed a great apartment, beautifully designed and boasting every amenity ranging from big-screen TV to dishwasher, microwave, AC etc...It is a bit far from the center, but the subway is three minutes' walk away with rapid access to the Upper West Side, Greenwich Village & Soho. Frank was a charming host and I definitely consider this apartment a hush-hush secret to be shared only with very good friends!

  The apartment was beautiful! Tastefully decorated and very clean! The kitchen was well equipped for staying in. Walking distance from convenience store/markets, and subway. The hosts were very helpful in addressing any needs or concerns we had. Their helpful information on shuttle service directly from the apartment to airport was greatly appreciated! Look forward to staying there again!

  We stayed at james and franks' for 5 nights and it was a terrific experience. From the booking process, arrivals and departure-james and frank were hospitable, friendly and always helpful. The apartment is spacious, well designed with care for detail and easy public transport access. The utter highlight must be going across the street for a cosy local jazz night (thurs)- a fabulous harlem experience.

  I contemplate honestly rating my experience, out of selfish concern of availibility, the next time I go to New York. With that said, there isn't a better deal or place to stay in New York than James's Place. Professionally designed and emaculately kept, this apt. is Royal Harlem.
