This is my very first experience with airbnb. And if all hosts are like this. I will be doing this more often.
Sasha was an excellent host. Answered all my question and was exactly what I expected. Location cannot be beat. Rooms was great, A/C was ice cold, shower was also great. Breakfast was a bonus, and never expected it.
All in all excellent place to stay. And would highly recommend this place to all my friends and family.
Pros – 1) Great location just one block from the beach in the heart of Ipanema; 2) Friendly staff; 3) Comfortable bed with clean linens.
Cons – 1) This is not a “flat”. It is a piece of a “penthouse” apartment that has been divided into 4 courters for rentals. The kitchen is a community kitchen that is used by all guests (which is contrary to my definition of a flat); 2) No water pressure in one of the showers which was very disappointing given this was already mentioned by another... This apartment is not as luxury as it seems. They have split a pretty big penthouse in two. The first one at the front, with 3 rooms and the terrace is gorgeous, but the back one is not as glamorous as it seems in the pictures. This was the one where we stayed.
First of all I have to say that Sasha tried to help us and make our stay wonderful but I have to be fair and say that the apartment has a lot of things to improve.

Our stay was fantastic. The apartment is perfectly located 1/2 block from Posto 9, arguably the best location on Ipanema beach. The street its located on, Rua de Vinicius, is both very well known and is in a truly great neighborhood. Restaurants, bars, shops and local services all with in a block of two. The added benefit of being very safe was quite a relief after reading some much about petty theft in Rio. We never had any problems or felt at all uncomfortable. The maid service was... More »
Perfect location, right off the Ipanema beach. A friendly and accommodating host. The bedrooms and the apartment are on the smaller side but overall a good value for money.

The apartment is very well located, just near ipanema beach, you can walk along ipanema and copa it's very delighted. During the WE, you can also go to the beach, there's a lot of animation. You can find taxi easely to go to city center / santa teresa / lapa to go out.

Our stay the Samba Suite was excellent. Everything in the penthouse was new and clean and we were very comfortable. Great A/C and flat panel TV in the bedroom and there was a wonderful deck with sofas and a table to work on. The location cannot be beat --- half a block to the beach (next to post 9 - a great spot) and a block away from many wonderful restaurants and bars.
We also saw the Beijo Suite (also in the penthouse) and it was lovely as well.

My overall stay during March (6 nights) was comfortable. I'll provide some pro's and con's for an objective viewpoint.
PRO'S: 1) The location is fantastic being less than a block from the beach and another block to the main shopping street. 2) Emails were answered by the host usually within a day and booking was cordial and easy 3) Check-in and check-out were extremely flexible.
