I contacted David on the evening before my arrival to NYC and he responded immediately and assured me that I can stay at his place. His studio was very clean, neat, and in a great location within walking distance from Soho. The place was quiet and the bed comfy. David has figured out the best no-hassle key return ever. Definitely would stay again.
February 2012David's Studio was perfect! It was clean and cozy. A little noise from the club below on the weekends, but it never bothered us. Nestled between the East Village and Lower East Side neighborhoods, you have great restaurants and shopping right out your door. The F train is also just a few blocks down at 2nd ave. which made it easy to go to Brooklyn or Uptown to visit Museums and Upper Manhattan. Also, plenty of cabs were always on Houston and easy to grab. David was very flexible on check... More »
Great little apartment, nestled conveniently between the East Village and SOHO. Apartment was clean and cozy, with enough closet space to get by for a short visit. We had to do some improvisational engineering to make coffee, but there are also plenty of coffee places nearby. We loved the collection of random items clearly left by previous visitors and added a few things ourselves. Apartment was pretty quiet most of the time, although the club downstairs was a distraction on Saturday night... More »
Not bad in a pinch. I needed a place to stay for New Year's Eve. This apartment was in a great location. Really, it's exactly what I needed, though the apartment is not special in and of itself.
Place is great but loud on weekends. Location is sweet, apartment is clean and bed is comfortable.
Small but nice, great location.
We stayed in David's studio at very short notice as our previous booking fell through. However, this was probably for the best as David's place turned out to be the perfect location: Lots and lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance, and only two blocks from the metro. The studio was ideal for a few days spent in the city and was more than accomodating for the two of us. We stayed Sunday-Wednesday and didn't have any problems with noise. David was easy to contact as well... More »
Everything went smoothly with my stay! Love the location -- right on the edge of the East Village and across the street from the Lower East Side, both of which are great neighborhoods to hang out in.
brilliant location, smallish space, mattresses on floor from sofabed to sleep on, good bathroom, no proper curtains, very poor lighting, no kettle, not terribly clean including the window, but at least it opened - but we enjoyed it and New York very much
David e' una persona estremamente gentile,la casa e' spaziosa, ottima per due/ tre persone,...la posizione e' stupenda. Giudizio decisamente positivo.
Great location! Bring your earplugs because construction is going on next door. The space is small but warm and cozy featuring a heater that sounds like a shopping cart is being dragged down the street. Still, it is a great price for this spot and we really enjoyed our time in the city. David was a cool man and we had a great time.
Ok
David is a nice person, which is more than you can say about the small room he rents out. It had a bed, yes, but it looked more like a storage room in a second hand furniture shop than a bedroom you would ask money for. It was, to be honest, quite a mess, and not very cosy. We had rented the room for three persons, but were happy that David let the third person put his mattress in the basement room. Once you figure out the bus system, it is pretty simple to go to Manhattan via bus and subway.... More »
Great place, everything went smoothly! David was flexible on my arrival time and delivered in spades!
Thelocation is great but the studio wasn't really clean at all. All the floor, shelves, mirrors and windows were full of dust from many days ago... The base of the sofa where is supossed to sleep was dirty with too much things on and being unable to sleep there and we should move the upper matrassa to the grounf floor to sleep in. The stairs to the up bed had a broken wheel and you can move it. The lighting wasn't enough. The window courtain is not fixed an doesn't avoid the light comes... More »
Good location but could have been a lot cleaner.
Location location location. This place is right up the street from Washington Park in the West Village. It is very small, but if you are just looking for a place to crash, it is fine. Sleeping is not easy because of the noise on the streeet, but that would be the same anywhere in that area. Airconditioning worked fine and helped drown out the noise. Bed was comfortable. First floor makes it easy to bring in luggage.
The host canceled my reservation 20 days before arrival.
We had a great time at David's place. The appartment was great and the location was perfect. Lots of places to eat, drink and play with a subway really close and everything in walking distance, highly recommended for young travelers. The appartement itself was nice, but the only downside was the place was a bit dirty and hadn't been vacuumed. There were a few bugs and cockroaches around, but they seemed to go once we cleaned and vacuumed the place. The noise level of the club downstairs... More »
Stayed here for 5 days last month on holiday. Its a nice neighborhood near a lot of good italian restaurants and brunch places. Its conveniently located near the subway, a convenience store, washington square park, NYU and even street markets during the weekends! If you were to tour or head out though- it will take you about USD15 to get to time square/NBC area and about USD12 to soho/meatpacking district- but theres always the subway if you don't mind the walk. The room is very small, but... More »
Great place to stay. It's definitely a small studio with a sleeping loft and sofa, but it is clean, well equipped and has an AC which makes for great white noise. Most importantly, it's half a block from Washington Square! Incredible location! Dave is an awesome host. Very responsive and accommodating. I'd definitely stay at one of his places again, including this one.
The apartment is excactly as pictured, not fancy but practical and enough room for three. The neighborhood is nice, short walk to the subway and lots of restaurants, bars and grocery stores around. The club downstairs is pretty cool, I would recommend checking it out on fridays and saturdays because the music is VERY loud these nights and it's more fun to party downstairs then in your apartmen. David is very nice and helpful and reachable at all times. He helped with bags and made checking in... More »
David was very nice, we asked to check in earlier and his girlfriend Julie was there to meet us (and we asked to check out later too). I stayed there with 2 more friends, and they gave us 2 keys, what was really helpfull. The place is exactly as pictured, not big or fancy but it's conveniently central in the East Village, fantastic location (near subway and a lot of nice places to eat and drink), and only on the 2nd floor of a walkup. It was very hot at NY and the air conditioner d id very... More »
David's place was great. Transport is a short walk away. In a quiet, safe neighborhood. Room has aircon for the NY summers & the beds nice & comfy. Cool little Bars & Eateries just around the area. David was great, really helpful & pointed out the must do's of NYC. Strongly recommend his place as the Red Hook neighborhood is a hidden gem within Brooklyn Cheers Mate, Adam
The LES is the place to be! This is a great apartment in one of the most happening parts of town. The apartment was VERY large, well-equipped, and walking distance to anything and everything you might need. David was a great host. I was in town visiting colleges with my son and his best friend. David accepted my last minute reservation and was very accommodating meeting us for the key exchange. He suggested local sightseeing, restaurants, and even helped carry our bags. The... More »

Defiantly not recommended!!! the apartment was dirty and it seems it was not cleaned for very long time before we arrived. This apartment need to be renovated many years ago and it didn’t. The air condition was working very bad and the same with the internet connection. There were not enough towels and the most important, this apartment could be convenient for two people max. we were 6 (2 adults, 2 kid and 2 infants) and it was a disaster. in the apartment there is only one very old sofa that... David was great and really helpfull! Even though our flight was 6 hours late and we arrived at 11pm he was there to give us the keys and helped with the luggage and all. The place is not big or fancy but it does the job as a place to crash for a couple of days - it's conviniently central in the East Village. If you are looking for a couple of good cafes or places to eat, we recommend you walk down Clinton St. which is all most opposite the flat.
David is an extremely nice guy! The apartment has a great location and is walking distance from everything. It was very minimal but was much cheaper than any NY hotel.
Space is small, clean and simple. Perfect for single or couple. Great location. Close to the West 4th subway and NYU. David was a good host.
David was nice as can be... It was really not in NY on my visit and the space heater was working as hard as it could to keep the place cool... 78 was probably as cool as it got. Plenty of space and in walking distance from a lot of action. I believe it has been mentioned that there is a club downstairs... I got home late enough each night to only catch the end of the noise so it was no big deal. there are earplugs on the nightstand if that sort of thing bothers you
We were 4, and we stayed in Red Hook. David is someone very nice, well educated, cultivated, funny and interesting. His english is very easy to understand, he gave us advices and good informations for visiting NYC. We spoke a lot with him. He showed us great places and we have been to a restaurant whith him. The district is safe but in the night there is nobody in the district. You must like animals, there is one dog and two cats. Don't be afraid of them they are very nice and they... More »

Clean apartment, excellent neighborhood, responsive host, excellent air conditioner. The apartment is tiny (7 foot by 18 foot) but if you are looking for a clean place to crash in a hip New York neighborhood, this apartment is perfect!!!
If what you need is an easy place to hang your hat without a lot of hassle or structure to your stay, this is it. The other dwellers' noise could be a deterrent if you turn in earlier that young people.
Nice area.Next to a supermarket and a few good bars. The flat is really nice and has everything that is necessary. We were two students visiting NYC for the first time and it was the perfect choice.
Fantastic location, I hardly took cabs. Many cool bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Perfect for a short stay! No WiFi. Would stay here again.
Dave was a great guy...super friendly and willing to share his home. Village Green is in a cool part of Brooklyn with some good eats right around the corner...including some great Stumptown Coffee. I'd stay there again!
great place - great location and easygoing host!
Merci David
Not great to be honest, wouldnt recommend staying here. Long walk to the subway, had to put sheets on the bed ourselves late at night, and had to ask for a glass of water.
David and his girlfriend Julie were fantastic hosts and very responsive to all of our questions and needs. They even offered us use of their bikes, which I so appreciated, even though I was wearing a prohibitively long dress. I'd forgotten the compact size of New York abodes, but our room was clean and comfortable. The location of Village Green is like a 20-ish minute walk to the nearest station, but it's a great neighborhood to walk in (as evidenced by the young families and their baby... More »
Very comfortable place to stay at. The host was a great, and was real cool with us. I enjoyed my time there, and recommend this place if you are looking to stay in the Brooklyn area.
David is quite hospitle. We arrived at about 3:00 a.m. on that day and he came to give us the key after arriving. We stayed there on sunday, monday and tuesday, so there was no problem of party noise. The sudio itself is okay...since three of us lived there, I slept on an air bed. But the air leaked out of the bed after midnight...I ended up like sleeping on the floor when waking up in the morning... Besides that, the studio is fine.
We had a great experience here. Were in town for a theatre weekend and David was accommodating and his place has a great location. Didn't expect anything fancy and we got what we expected. The music is fairly loud (and not as cool as we expected for a LES club) on a Saturday night but not unbearable for those used to urban nightlife. Location was great. Price was right on. The digs were functional. We would stay there again!
David was very accomodating. Although, as i was bringing my child i was never told that the apartment is above a nightclub where it had a thumping bass till the early hours of the morning.
place is exactly as pictured. david was very nice. wish we could've gone to the rooftop but as we tried to go up through the back, the steps on the next floor up had fallen off (or broken somehow). so we attempted to take the stairs inside the building where we were stopped by a couch on its side. we squeezed ourselves through that to find a note on the door to the roof stating it was a private rooftop for the 2 units up top =/ too bad...that would've completed our whole new york experience.... David & Julie were very helpful and welcoming hosts, they Mister Bitzer (their violently friendly cat) was a very welcome presence too. Our plans mostly involved Manhattan, but we couldn't afford to stay there at such short notice (I was a bit lazy sorting it out). David's house was great. There was plenty of room for the six of us to comfortably sleep and hang out. It was wonderful having two bathrooms and access to a washer and dryer. David sent an email explaining all necessary information and was easy to contact before our arrival. As he was out of the country while we were there, he mailed us the house keys in advance. David was really helpful and my parents were really happy during their stay. Plus its close to les and the village, which puts this apartment into the middle of everything. Thanks very much.
David was a wonderful and flexible host! Complications arose in my travel plans both at the arriving and the leaving end. He was so understanding and worked hard at easing those for me. I am grateful! The weather was somewhat cold during my visit and David's provision of a space heater really helped. The location of David's apartment is perfect for public transport.
Cool little place on the LES. People who haven't lived in NYC before might be taken aback by the building (lobby is pretty beat up), but this is a good place for a good price. It's basically one big room with a bathroom and kitchenette. Perfect for a single person or couple. David is really nice and very responsive. It was really cold when we got in. We called him and asked for more blankets and a space heater. He actually went to the hardware store and bought one, then dropped it off the... More »
We booked this place at very short notice whilst we were already staying at an apartment in nearby Soho. David was very hospitable and made sure that we had everything that we needed. The place itself was clean and spacious and in a good location. All-in-all good value for money, I'd stay here again. Minor downsides were, no wifi and the fact that the apartment is above a lively late night bar that is quite noisy until the early hours. Luckily David has covered all bases and provided guests... Everything as we expected, David was great with communication, we were a bit late and he was fine with that. The place was clean and tidy and the perfect for location for us in the East Side. An outside area had rubbish bins in the hallway, but I have no idea what the big deal is? The place is perfect for the price, this is NY city, prices are through the roof. My partner used the ear plugs on one night, but I didn't need them. We would stay there again and have recommended it to people.
We enjoyed on our NY trip and thanks for the David for his help.. Everything was comfortable..
We arrived really late after some problems at JFK International Customs. Regardless, David's girlfriend greeted us with a few other friends in tow (a little weird....but...whatever) after an entrance way of trash bins and baby trolleys. We were running about 20 minutes late, and texted David to let him know. He was very accomidating and was very pleasant to deal with. Great location, comfy bed, hot shower. What else do you need, apart from the earplugs on Thursday night. David was very accommodating, met us at the appointed time and was quite flexible about checkout time. A second front door key would have been handy when we wanted to go in different directions, make sure that the one with the key is the last to leave otherwise you are stuck there for the afternoon as you need the key to lock the door. Have suggested it to others.
It was great staying at Davids place, he is a very kind host, the appartment is nice and clean and the area is great, many good places in walking distance. Beware though of the night club just below the house: noisy nights on thursday, friday and saturday.
stayed here for 4 nights on mon-thur in october. Positives: -studio is in a great location: great shops, cafes and restaurants close by, wholefoods close by, lots of great stuff in walking distance -5 minute walk to Houston St subway on the F Line -David was out of town when we arrived so his friend was there at the agreed time to meet us when we arrived, no waiting around -shower and bathroom in studio v good -place good to stay if you really need somewhere just to crash and you... The hall entrance makes a terrible impression with the garbage cans, rough and unfinished walls and worn out stair pads. A days worth of plastering and a bucket of paint would go a long way to correcting this 3d world/slum like impression. I believe this impression colors the perceptions of the interior of the apartment. The cabinetry in the kitchen and bathroom is of low grade quality but could be improved immeasurably with a coat of semigloss paint which also would serve to make it... More »
Great location. Had concerns about cleanliness. Also had a loud party nearby late into the night.
The apartment was very convenient for our needs. It's pretty minimally furnished and the bathroom could use a deep clean. We could have used an extra towel or two and cooking supplies were limited (we didn't cook anyway, too many GREAT restaurants nearby!). Apparently noise is an issue in the unit (the earplugs on the night stand) but with air conditioner on that wasn't a problem. I would stay there again but my husband would not!
Positives: Really great location. Great value for money compared to hotels. Shop on corner. Great new wine store there too! David responded immediately to concerns regarding gas smell. He also had someone to meet us when we arrived as he was out of town. Katz's a very short walk away.Subway two blocks. Club noise not a problem at all (Sunday to Thursday night). Negatives: Strong gas smell for the first two nights. Then cleanliness the major issue. Bathroom, kitchen and refrigerator needed... More »
Perfect location with very easy access to the subways when we were going uptown. We have chosen for David's apartment because of the amount of (positive) reviews. When we arrived we were a little disappointed. First of all, he was there with some noisy friends who made jokes about drugs (yes, we are from the Netherlands, but we don't use drugs...) It was not very professional or welcoming. It was very smelly (rotten water or something?), with a piece of linen as a curtain (too small), half a bottle of wine in the kitchen, dishes still at the kitchen sink, almost no... More »

We stayed here in August 2010 and it was the perfect place to base ourselves in NYC. We wanted to experience "living in the city" instead of doing the typical tourist things, and it was nice to come back to an apartment instead of a hotel. The place was clean, David was eager to help with any questions we had, and while it's small, it's larger than the average hotel room. David was a very sweet host!!! The apartment was neat, compact and very conveniently located : just a few blocks from the Subway and right ACROSS the street from Katz Deli! On the downside, and I did read this in advance, there was a bass thumping from 1-6am. This was not enough of a problem to bother my boyfriend but it did bother me. ...not vibration, just bass. David was a great host at his East Village Studio. He came all the way from Brooklyn to see me. The noise from the club downstairs was minimal (mind you, we stayed there Friday and Saturday nights), however he did leave aside earplugs on the nightstand. There was a lot of space and it was a very clean apartment. We will definitely consider David's places when we do decide to go to NYC again.
This place was great!Really near the subway so handy for anywhere you want to go and surrounded by good places to eat and drink! We didn't have an issue woth the club but thought the earplugs that were left for us were a really nice touch! Thanks David
David was a great host - met me at the apartment, even though I arrived earlier than expected. The apartment is in a very good location, near the subway and lots of places to eat and drink. It could have been cleaner, but overall it was very comfortable.
David's studio was perfect, great location, plenty of room, no noise issue, (it is Manhattan), and David was the consummate host. Met us on time, friendly and went out of his way to ensure our comfort. We'll repeat. Thanks David
I loved staying in David's place. The location is excellent and the apartment fit my needs. I don't recommend it for more than one person as it is small, but for one person it is an amazing place to stay. Thanks David! I would definitely stay here again.
I had a great time staying at David's studio. Had no issues, David met me at the apartment when i arrived and even took some time to chat with me to see if he could help with anything while I was in town. Comfortable bed and couch, had everything we needed. Thanks David!

Overall, David's apartment is an excellent value and great location. We took a cab from Laguardia and he met us at the apartment. The place was clean enough, and the club was loud. We were late on arrival but David was very accommodating. The apartment was in a great location, clean, tidy and there was a good selection of guidebooks. The bed was a little hard and even though the hallway was grimey it was a fine place to stay for a few days in the east village. My husband and I had a wonderful time in David's apartment. He was an excellent host. It's true that it was noisy but we were prepared. The air conditioner helped to muffle much of the noise. The bed was comfy, plenty of hot water, and it's right down the street from the Whole Foods Market. The kitchen supplies are limited but we managed to cook dinner for 4 one night! We've stayed in lots of hotels in the city and this was the best deal for the price.
This apartment is directly above a nightclub which is open on weekends and also has special events on weeknights. When the club is open it is more than just loud, the apartment is vibrating with noise. We would not have stayed here if we understood the potential for club noise, though on nights the club is closed the place is quiet enough. Overall would be a fine place to stay in NYC, if you are not bothered by sleeping above a loud nightclub.
good location! however, quite noisy at weekend !!
Very easy to get to via subway. Very very clean. No window blinds (easily fixed with a bit of ingenuity and blankets/clothes). A bit chilly at night but that was my fault for not asking David about heating. David was very good about coordinating the stay and very responsive. I'd recommend this place to anyone who's looking to stay in NYC.
The appartment isn't fancy or anything, but it provides in everything you need for a few days in New York. Just bring ear plugs or get drunk on Friday's if you want to sleep well, because the band or club below can be quite loud ;-) Great location, very good place to stay at. Thanks for having us David.
great location, location, location! close to subway and Katz's deli just across the street for all the billy crystal fans. pillows and bed were more than adequate, slept like logs except for the band playing on fri. night, but my wife slept right through it. was nice coming back and able to fix snacks, have fridge, stove access, etc. I thought going "up on the roof" was the best feature-just what I would have imagined NYC lower east side to be. hope to stay next year. On the positive side: David was an excellent host and the location was great. On the negative side: The hallway was filthy and the studio looked as though it hadn't been painted for the past 20-30 years and furthermore it smelled of gas. I stayed in David's East Village Studio with some friends. The location was great; there's a lot going on in the East Village these days, and it's just a 10 minute's walk from the subway. As has been mentioned, there's a bit of noise on the weekend, but nothing troublesome. David was very accommodating and responsive during the stay, and it's a great deal. Would definitely do it again!
Great Location , APT is comfy and clean. Will come back for the next trip.
David was quick in responding to my initial inquiry and additional correspondence. The apartment is in a great location - 1.5 blocks from a subway stations, and a short walk to get to Nolita, West Village, China Town, Little Italy, Tribeca, etc. The only issue I had was that the radiator did not put out that much heat to warm up the apartment. Interesting conversationalist and swell couple. Had a lot of terrific energy about them and gave great advice. Left our place sparkling clean.
I did not know David personally because I was abroad. He was right on time for check in and out and left the apartment in perfect condition. I hope to have the opportunity to meet him in the future, you are always welcome in Budapest!
David and his girlfriend were great guest, without any complications. They left the room tidy and as they found it. Hope to have them back again some day soon!
David was easy to correspond and make arrangements with, and left the flat tidy, clean and orderly. He was an impeccable guest and we would gladly have him over again anytime.
David was my guest for two nights. I enjoyed meeting him when he arrived, barely saw him afterward due to our schedules. He left everything in great shape.
David has a long background in hospitality, lots of expertise in hosting and having house guests, and is a people-person who aims to please. He is incredibly accommodating, easy to get along with, and above all, trustworthy. He is always there to lend a hand, often offering to assist before I can even ask.
April 2010David is a great host. He goes above and beyond to make his apartment as hospitable as possible, and sincerely wants every guest to have the best possible experience. His place is homey, casual and comfortable, and I hope you enjoy your stay there.
