LOFT II
www.airbnb.com/rooms/57993
I've renovated two genuine open plan commercial lofts ,check out the pictures, 3 blocks from the L train, they're large spaces, with 2 double beds, great for photographers or artists,
I also have renovated a large stone house in the South of France, close to Perpingan and the Mediterranean sea.
I travel a lot internationally with work(photography),and am happy for people to stay on a daily or weekly basis, please email me to discuss. I would also look at renting out the bedroom only, when I'm in town.
The loft is 1 block from the first New York Loft Hostel, and the amazing Roberto's pizza bar/restaurant,
It's a 3 minute walk to the L train, Morgan Ave, 7 minutes to Williamsburg, and 15 minutes to Union Square, Manhattan.
Great place, close to the metro station. nice cafe and restaurants around. great communication with the host.
September 2011James and his loft were fantastic! Unfortunately the area was not the experience we were looking for. If you are familiar with the area and want a get away from Manhattan, this place is perfect!
James is very easy-going and even on a trip to Europe we found a way to make things smooth. Great guy! Very nice loft, the pictures are not lying at all. The location was perfect to me : close to Williamsburg and Bushwick. The best of both worlds : hipsters on fixies and puertoricans :) ! You feel like a new-yorker @James' Be aware though: this place is not for first time tourists. But if you wanna feel the vibe and the culture of a disappearing New York, this neighborhood is for... James was really great to deal with and communication was quick and easy. The loft itself is a great space, there were only two of us there, but it would easily accommodate more. Getting off at the Morgan Ave Subway stop is definitely easiest and the walk from the loft to that Subway stop will take you past most of the coolest cafes/restaurants/shops in that area. It's a very easy spot to get to Williamsburg and Manhattan from, whilst still giving you the feeling of living like a New Yorker.
We stayed here for a month (2 women, 33 nights) and we really enjoyed our stay at James place. James was a very warm host and he satisfied any additional wish quickly. The Loft is pretty much like what you can see on the pictures: high ceilings, industrial charm and really spacious. It is save and quite and the birds will wake you up on a sunday morning (unbelievable but true). Beside that, we really liked the neighborhood a lot. There are not so many shops yet, but what is there has a very... More »
The house is very nice, spacious and beautifully located. There is an excellent little restaurant next door with kind hosts. Unfortunately the internet conection almost non-existent, but I was told that in the summer season it is much better. James is very kind and responsive to any questions one has.
James Henry is a lovely host, and his artist loft was a great place to stay. We were two couples, so two of us slept in the living room. Unfortunately, the apartment had not been cleaned when we arrived, so we had to clean the entire place ourselves, including scrubbing down the bathroom which looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned for a good while. There weren't enough clean sheets for everyone, and the laundry from the former guests were still there. Because of this, James gave us our... More »
My friend and I stayed at this huge place for 41 days starting at the begining of March. Apart from it´s size, the other very convenient feature of Jame´s loft is the fact that part of it is converted into a proper art studio, next to the windows in the living room, with a rough floor where you can work without being afraid of staining it. If you don´t know the area, take into account that it has quite a deserted semin-industrial look, with very few shops apart from some basic delis or a... More »
The host canceled my reservation 2 days before arrival.
Amazing part of town, close to some of the best restaurants in Brooklyn (Momo and Tandem). Don't let the distance to Manhattan scare you off, this place is magic.
We enjoyed meeting James and staying in his Brooklyn loft. Nicely laid out and equipped. There was plenty of room for all 5 of us and it was located very conveniently for getting in and out of Manhattan. Also some good restaurants and coffee shops nearby too. We'll definitely stay there again if we visit New York in the future. John S. and family.
the artist loft of james was amazing ! our friend who stayed there had a great time ! James is a great host ! We will definitly book the loft again in our next visit.
Our stay in James' loft was magical. It's a great spacious flat that is lofty but has a very homely/ comfy feel to it which is usually hard to find. We liked the neighbourhood which has a few great places to eat (Roberta's) and drink (The King's County). There is very easy access to Manhattan by walking to the Morgan L stop in about 5 minutes tops then getting on the most reliable subway line (we think) straight to the heart of NYC. We felt very much at home and Brooklyn is a great place... More »
Our stay at James' place was gorgeous! nicely decorated! This place is amazingly huge with high ceiling. Everything was great except.. the heater. The one in the living room did not work during our stay. Make sure it's fixed when you visit. Although the location and the loft was very nice, so I would highly recommend!
Loft was just as lovely as we had hoped. In a really nice part of town, and very close to the subway, so it was easy to get everywhere. Host was very very helpful and accommodating with our late night arrival. Would definitely recommend it!
Very good place to stay if you are abble to feel good vibrations from the up to date space.
Fantastic location, James was an incredible host, thanks James! The loft is amazing! Alex, Australia
Wonderful loft apartment! Location is incredible - 2 seconds from the L train which is perfect if you want to check out the Williamsburg area, or go to Manhattan. The building was great - quiet and safe. The loft sells itself - it just like the pictures, but comes with a great host! (Thanks so much James). Laundry is on the corner of Bushwick street (drop off cost us 12 bucks and was ready the same day!). Perfect place to stay in New York - we will be back!! Thanks so much James!
The brooklyn loft was perfect. Clean, spacious and had everything we needed. It was an easy commute to Manhattan and quick to get into Williamsburgh from Montross or Morgan Ave L trains. I'll definitely be back! Thanks James!
I stayed in James' loft for 4 days in the beginning of November with a friend of mine and had an excellent stay. The place is even better than the photos - lots of light and space. It's very comfortable, clean and in a great part of Brooklyn. You can chose more hip spots like Cafe Orwell or walk down to Broadway & Flushing for great soul food and bargain hunting. We were two single girls and didn't have any issues walking home at night. The loft is under a flight path, but you don't hear the... More »
James is the a very welcoming artist. His broolyn loft is huge, comfy, the light is just amazing. This is a place to relax and have some ideas for a new project. I was there with 4 collegues friends for three weeks, I had the best time in Brooklyn ever. The area is great, Brushwick is the place to be in Brooklyn now for artists and all kind of easy going people. With the L-train, we are in the city in 15minutes. This is a fantastic place to stay. I wish I come back soon. xxx all the best to... More »
Great place, great neighborhood, great host. Highly recommended for a true Brooklyn experience.
James was terrific and the apartment absolutely beautiful. The location is close to the train, the coffee at Cafe Orwell is as good as everyone says, and it's a wonderful, unique space. I recommend this place wholeheartedly!
I stayed at this loft with some friends for a great weekend. It was a wonderful experience... seamless. I we found the neighborhood inspiring, and the loft was everything that James said it was. The space is clean, artful and you feel at home. You will love it. My highest recommendation. Thanks James!
My father and I were fortunate enough to stay at James Henrys loft in Bushwhick for almost 3 weeks, this september. The flat is excellent, both practically and designwise. James is generous and a great host. As a photographer I especially enjoyed all the light coming into the loft-space. The neighborhood is very interesting, with hidden qualities, great bars and restaurants. We warmly recomend both the flat and its surroundings.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for two weeks at the end of April and absolutely loved it. The neighborhood was surprisingly filled with life, tons of cute little hipsters hanging at Cafe Orwell and outside the Brooklyn Natural grocery store. Although it's an industrial area, people are everywhere and the L stop is super close. Roberta's pizza two blocks away is amazing, as well as Life cafe (two blocks away in the other direction). We liked it so much in fact that I'm looking at a loft a... More »
Me and my girlfirend stayed there and everything was great! Was our first time in NY, and If you check the street view, maybe you get scared like us, but the area is completely safe, and is kind of a new created neighborhood, lots of artists, good cafes, great organic supermarket, and only 10 minutes to manhattan by L train.... even if you dont get this house, go to this area to eat at roberto.s pizza, everything on that pizzas is organic! James was great helping us for everything, and... More »
James is a great host. Very nice and helpful. And his place is perfect. Lots of sunlight and so close to subway. Strongly recommending it...
Incomparable: * The space is absolutely inspiring and flooded with natural light, particularly during the late morning. * The location happens to be conveniently nearby both the L train (takes you midtown) and the J train (if you're going to lower Manhattan). * James is a chill host who knows what he's doing. Anyway, if you do rent this place, do us all a favor, and try to keep it a secret, k?
.I had a wonderful stay. The space is large clean an d close to subway. James is very easy to work with
Being a host himself, James makes an ideal guest! The house was extremely well looked after - he even left me flowers! I would be delighted to host James again and recommend him highly. Very self sufficient, friendly, true to his word, in all a pleasure to have met him.
July 2011James stayed at my apartment, and was a great guest. He arrived exactly when he said he would. He left my room all tidy and clean. And, he was really really nice ... I would definitely let him stay again and again if he wanted to.
James is a stand up guy who is trustworthy and sensible. I've known him for a few years and can see that he shares his space as an open-minded, creative, well-seasoned traveller himself. His loft has a wonderful feel and offers a great frame from which to experience the city from. The apartment and location are tough to beat in Brooklyn... plus the vibe around the corner at Roberta's is memorable.
