Very nice apartment...real NYC experience, away from all of the too crowded areas... would suggest to everybody who like Lower East Side of Manhattan and are looking a place with cool atmosphere and nice own getaway place inside the Big Apple.
Derek was very helpful and everything in check-in or check-out worked out very well and we got answers to all of our questions very quickly!
Derek is a very easygoing and respectful host. The apartment is conveniently located in the East Village, 5 min walk to the subway, 15 min walk to SoHo or Chinatown. I enjoyed my stay there and I found some nice restaurants nearby. Derek is also a good resource for the neighborhood good finds. I recommend this place to single or couple travelers.
Great location, good flat, this place was perfect for our stay. Great food options and shops and bars, really great mixed safe neighbourhood, close to transport, Derek was communicative and responsive. Apartment was as it appeared in photos. Nice room, clean, and a decent location. It was difficult to arrange a time to check in due to host's schedule. It might be a good idea to ask a friend to help out in this area, due to international flights, traffic, etc. Overall a good experience, Thanks Derek.
Derek's place was just what I was looking for. I was provided a comfortable bed in an apartment that is in a good location. It is easy to make your way all over Manhattan from Derek's place and into Brooklyn as well. Derek was welcoming and friendly but I did not see too much of him during my stay because I was out and about most of the time.
He is a very generous, available and welcoming host.
The place is clean and well located.
There are lots of nice cafés and restaurants nearby and the metro is only a few minutes away.

Derek's apartment was just what we were after - close to all the cafe's and restaurants in the Lower East Side but at the end of Rivington Street which meant it was quieter. The apartment was clean and cozy, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in LES.
Great apartment and location.
Derek was the perfect host, helping out with advice generally, and specifically over the hurricane panic weekend, providing much needed local knowledge when it was required.

An overall good deal . This cosy appartment was just like the pictures, and situated in a cool area (very well connected via the Delancey -Essex station).
Perfect flat in a great location.
Although the flat could have been slightly more clean, the place felt at home.
Derek was easy to deal with and Virginia, who looks after the flat while he's away, is also super sweet.
We had a fantastic stay, and would never hesitate to rent this apartment again.
Well, I think I've found my defacto, go-to place to stay in NYC. This is the second time I've stayed at Derek's and though he wasn't around, he was still an impeccable host. Great communication. Hope to be back in the near future.
I had a great time at Derek’s place! Very nice apartment in an old NYC house in a great LES neighborhood. I did not have the chance of meeting Derek in person during my stay but he was very helpful and friendly as a remote host. i can definitely recomend the place!
I recommend Derek's place, it's definitely an excellent solution for a single traveller. While the pictures displayed in the profile are the ones of the main room of the apartment, they however provide a good context to understand the kind of accommodation offered. The apt is conveniently located a couple of blocks south of Houston: walking distance from the alphabet city (=lots of fun at night) and pretty well connected via the essex and Delancy metro station. Colorful Puertorican neighbourhood, a bit shady only very rarely: felt very safe 90% of the time, but keep a good eye on your surroundings. Derek is a good and friendly host. The room was clean, a decent size for me, and well situated, with lots of places for good coffee and eats. Great value for the location as well.
Derek is a friendly and considerate host. I had a good time staying at his
place. The room itself is quite simple with a bed and small desk but if
you're visiting NYC, chances are you will not be in the room much. I know
I wasn't ;) The location on Rivington Street is great. There is a 24hr
convenience store downstairs, and laudromat facilities and subways nearby.
