A group of classmates and I stayed here for a conference in January. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and the location truly couldn't have been better! It was a pleasant, half an hour walk to the Hilton, where the conference was being hosted. The local neighborhood had a great coffee shop and some neat bars and restaurants. Adrienne was friendly and accessible by phone and e-mail while planning the trip and during the trip whenever we had any questions. I would definitely try to... More »
January 2012While we only stayed in Adreinne's apartment for 3 nights, they were very comfortable nights. The apartment's in a great area, very close to most things with our car. The two installed beds were exceptionally comfortable, but the pull out couch left a little to be desired - as can be expected from a pull out couch. The second bedroom didn't retain any heat, and was constantly cold. Adreinne was very helpful and easy to contact. Most everything ran smoothly while we were there, with the... More »
Our stay at the Brownstone went well. The place is very similar to the pictures, the subway is right across the street, and it's very spacious for two (or I imagine, even up to 4 people). Because the subway and bus stop are right outside the window, it is extremely loud! We turned on the fan and took some Tylenol PMs to help. If you are a light sleeper, I would not suggest this place. Adreinne was easy to contact through our stay when we had trouble with the heat. She was very helpful... More »
The Bungalow was an amazing place to stay! Every time I go to the Bay this is the spot I am booking. I almost don't want to let people know how great it was just so that it's available whenever I need! :) It was clean, spacious, and offered an at home feel with amenities provided. Adreinne was a great host -- answered every call and question! Thank you!
Great location in Berkeley, close to everything!! Large bedrooms and comfortable space in an amazingly quiet neighborhood. We spent a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend there and were even able to cook a full turkey dinner. Thanks, Adreinne!
We all really enjoyed staying in this place. Its right across from the subway station and very easy to get around from. We never saw Adreinne but she had everything set up for us so it wasn't an issue. All in all a very nice place to stay in Brooklyn.
I was so pleased to find this place, which is a 10-minute walk from my house. It isn't fancy (neither is our house) but is very pleasant, clean and has everything visitors need, particularly a central location near a ton of world-class amenities. My son and his wife and two small kids were able to have their own space, with enough room for the kids to be separate, and could walk to San Pablo Park to let off some steam. We took them to Berkeley Bowl West, our great regular store, for... More »
The place is in a great location with easy access to everything we needed. Adrienne was a fantastic host.
Happy with the visit! Showed up and the place was neat and clean. Had no problems getting keys.Clean linens and towel were available. The place is very close to the convention center- I would highly recommend this location if you are in town for a convention. Otherwise, there really isn't much going on in the neighborhood. Pretty quiet, some sketchy characters hanging out on the corner at night, but no problems- walk a bit farther north and it gets a little rougher. Only complaint is that... More »
This apartment is quite spacious and well decorated. We felt immediately at home. Although in general the apartment was neat, the corners of the different rooms could be more cleaner. The subway-station is extremely nearby, within one minute you're from your living-room on a train to Manhattan. Very convenient ! As the proximity of two supermarkets. On the other hand, the bedroom is facing the street and the subway-station and earplugs are welcome then. But overall, this apartment is... More »
The location was great and a *very* short walk to the Convention Center Metro and a reasonable walk over to Dupont Circle. The space itself was comfortable, clean, well-maintained, and generally welcoming. I'm coming back in a few months and this is on my short list of locations.
The apartment was very convenient, especially for events at the convention center. It is walking distance to Chinatown which has some great food, drink, and nightlife. The only minor inconvenience was when another guest of the upstairs apartment took the keys with them from the lockbox. I only had a short wait for the building manager to return to let me in. Overall a good experience.
We arrived late on a Friday night. Aside from a small miscommunication about where the key would be, we had a nice stay. The neighborhood was cute, the bungalow was quiet and very close to a great Trader Joe's and the Berkeley Bowl was a great resource as well. There were enough towels and blankets for three of us for the week. Thank you, Adrienne.
Great location, great price! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the People's Place and were sad to leave. It was great staying in our own apartment, rather than a stuffy hotel on our trip. Her place had everything we were looking for and we loved the convenient location. I'd definately recommend it to anyone attending a conference at the Convention Center. Probably not for someone who's looking for upscale, posh lodging, for that you can book a room at the Rennaissance for $385 a... More »
I booked the apartment because of its proximity to the convention center and for the price. The problem was, when I arrived... my apartment, the one in the pictures, had been rented to three people from UF-Gainsville. I was stuck in the upstairs apartment, which has no pictures online. Bait and Switch. I arrived at 230 and it was dirty. But to be honest, they said check in was at 4pm and when I arrived back at 4pm it was clean. The apartment is austere (think two star hotel) so do not... More »
Wonderful place, well located. Amazing
Adreinne's apartment in Brooklyn is perfect. It's exactly as nice as you can see in the photos... even better! Never seen Adreinne, but she gave us clear and specific instructions, and answered quickly to every questions.... The price is also very good and the location too... quiet, safe... the subway station it's around the corner... downtown Manhattan it's a 15 minutes ride... around 30 minutes to midtown and central park... I highly recommend this place!
Good location for exploring East Bay Area and San Francisco via Bay Bridge. Nice place for families: playgrounds around the corner in San Pablo Park. Plenty towels and good linnen provided. I would go here next time I'm in the Bay Area.
Very nice place to stay in DC. Just 10 min walking from the center, it was great. The apartment was big, clean and with everything we could need, also a gallon of water in the fridge. We didn't meet the host but the answer by mail about a problem was fast and the questions promptly solved. I would stay there again in my future journey DC.
Adreinne made our stay in San Francisco enjoyable. The bungalow was just what we needed, clean tidy and big. Adreinne was responsive to email and made things easy. This is an excellent choice for a budget-conscious family.
The place is fantastic. We were in Washington to do some sightseeing and it couldn't be in a better location. The flat was perfect for us.
More »
If you are attending an event at the Walter E Washington Convention Center, this is the most convenient place to stay and at a great price! I assumed ths location was close to the convention center but I was surprised as well as estatic to find that it was exactly across the street.
This was my first experience with Airbnb. It was certainly a positive one! We enjoyed our stay at Adreinne's place. It was easy to access the keys and met Adreinne the next day since we arrived late. Adreinne was easy to access and provided answers to our emails quickly. The place was exactly like the pictures and description. It was really big enough for us two. There was some work in the hallway but it did not disturb us since the working started after 9 am. The bedroom is located on the... More »
this is a great comfortable apartment. We enjoyed coming back each evening to kick back and just chill. John the building manager was very helpful with stores and restaurants for us to visit,as well as a temporary parking pass.
Nice apartment, clean, easily accessible, and beautifully decorated with all the amenities we need. The only thing to note is that the location might be a little noisy for a light sleeper. Thanks Adreinne.
I had never booked an accomodation with airnb. I can say that it was a positive experience. It's not a hotel but an apartment. It wasn't really clean but it was cosy and it was really close to everything. We could take the bus, the metro or walk to the mall. Walking to Washington dc main sites takes only 30 minutes. I would recommend to a friend only if I know that he/she wants to save money and he/she is able to adapt in any situation.
Really nice apartment, ideal for 3 people - but for 5 of us on a budget it was great. Close to 2 great coffee shops and 1 decent supermarket. Not directly in the best neighborhood but the key is it's proximity to the subway which is right across the street. Adrienne was an excellent host, always answering her phone immediately if we had a problem and always quick with a solution.
I stayed at the apartment with my husband, son, daughter-in-law and 2-year old grandson. Even though we arrived very late (after midnight), there was no issue accessing keys for the apartment. We hadn't expected such steep stairs up to the first floor. Nor had we expected the internal steps to the bathroom and second bedroom to be so steep. Only 3 towels were provided initially for 5 of us, but additional towels were supplied following requests. We also had problems accessing Internet and... More »
We arrived in Berkeley to a very welcoming Adreinne to a lovely apartment. We came from Ireland and felt right at home. Adreinne had everything set up for us upon our arrival the beds are very comfortable and everything in the house was of a high standard. If we had any queries or needed advice or directions Adreinne was very helpful each time. I would highly recommend Berkely Bungalow it was very comfortable and homely
This was my first experience with airbnb, and Adreinee's Charming Brownstone was perfect for our week-long stay. Big, well decorated, full kitchen and bath, ample closet and dresser space. It's just half a block from the C-Line which takes you to Manhattan and Rockaway Beach. Most of the friends we were visiting lived within 5-10 blocks which also made the apartment super convenient, and they were all very impressed with the quality for the price. Jorge and Adreinne were both very helpful.... More »
I stayed with 4 other young women in this apartment for a long weekend and had a mostly pleasant time. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us and we were happy to be paying such a reasonable rate for a location about a 20 minute walk to the Mall. Unfortunately our stay was during a spring heat wave, so the one a/c window unit provided in just one of the bedrooms did not do much to cool the place down which was a bit uncomfortable. The owner was not in town during our stay, but we... More »
Located in a very convenient location to Metro, Capitol Bike-share, buses, and a grocery store. No need for cab fares. Charming row house apartment with well appointed kitchen saved $ on needless eating out. There was a minor glitch with the availability of WIFI internet, however that small inconvenience was taken care of immediately. My only recommendation was for another air conditioner in the secondary bedroom as we encountered an unexpected heatwave for our summer stay . Adreinne Waheed... More »
Thanks for a good stay, Adreinne. The apartment is very charming and clean as well as super close to the subway. Handling check-in and check-out was a breeze. Everything was great!
My husband and I stayed at The People's Place for our daughter's graduation from Georgetown Medical. We arrived to find this pleasantly appointed apartment on a sweet block between two churches. We loved having a full kitchen adequately furnished with most all we needed to cook for ourselves. Adreinne's place is close to grocery stores (just around the corner, 24 hour Giant grocery; 6-8 blocks Whole Foods) From the apartment, we were able to explore the neighborhoods of DC by foot and by... If location is everything, then the People's place has it all. It is situated perfectly in the D.C. environs for getting around to everywhere. The coffee shop on the corner, Azi's, is fantastic. Having the Giant within range, also a plus. Ben's Chili Bowl can be walked to in the U. Downsides: I could not get the wireless to work but Azi's has it. There are some minor problems with not being perfect as far as the place has seen some use. All in all though I would stay again. We liked... More »
We found this apartment to be quite nice and close to the metro and major sightseeing. It took a little while to get used to the 2-3 steps up to the main bedroom and bathroom, but they fine once oyu got used to them. All communictions were quickly responded to and a great host. There was a lot of noise from peolpe who gather across the park outside the apartment, they were chatting and a few arguing for most of the night, so it took awhile to get to sleep. There is a back bedroom which... More »
We enjoyed our stay using the people place as a central home for visiting Washington, mostly walking with the kids. We went to lincoln memorial, space museum and zoo using our feet, enabling the discovery of very nice suburbs and streets, with various architectural styles. We appreciated the bedroom and confortable beds, as well as the big bath and huge fridge (from european standards).
The apartment was steps from the subway and close to many small shops for grabbing some food or groceries. We stayed here with a family of four (two university-aged students). The main (double?) bed was very comfortable, but the pull-out couch and bed-couch we less so. If you want a place out of the city but still very commutable, this worked very well.
The Positives: 1. The price: a very good deal relative to a lot of other places in NY 2. Transit: right across the street from the C train. 20-25 downtown, 30-35 min uptown. 3. Adreinne: easy to get ahold of, responds promptly to queries. 4. Very private: we had no intrusions from the property managers, and the floor to yourself. 5. Building managers on site: Jorge and Darleene friendly and responsive. Things to consider: 1. Area: perfectly safe, but far from glamourous. Lots of... More »
Hi, our experience was fantastic. The apartment looks like airbnb photos; it was very confortable with all the hosehold items that you need. The neighborhood very quiet, the metro close (5 minutes) a "Gigant" 24 h supermarket 2 minutes walking. If we return to Washington, we will stay in Adreinne apartment. Thank you and good luck. Carlos & Ana
This location has so much to offer. The subway is across the street. Grocery stores, laundromat, and fast food are around the corner. The two bedroom apartment gave our family of four a little privacy from each other, and the kitchen gave us the opportunity to eat breakfast before we went sight-seeing each day. The neighborhood is very busy, but we enjoyed experiencing a real New York neighborhood. The best thing about this apartment is Jorge, the building manager. We had a problem printing... More »

I don't want to write anything negative about our stay, but I do feel an obligation to be honest to those future readers of reviews as I relied on others' reviews. The apartments was nice. It had a lot of room especially for DC. No compaints about size. We used the kitchen and washer and dryer. The kitchen had full-sized appliances: refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. The washer and dryer were the stacking kind and shared by two other apartments. They were "free," and it... More »
the apartment was great! very cosy and had everything we needed! plus, it was literally a block away from the subway station, talk about convenience! adreinne was very helpful and had everything in order for us when we arrived and again when we left. definitely recommended! I had a lovely time in brooklyn thanks to her place!
lovely appt. Easy acces. nice and clean. We will book again, if we get the chance. Playground across the street, supermarked on the corner, 5 min walk to subway 10 min walk to shop and bar area, 20 min walk to white house. Host very quick to respond and full of suggestions.
My relatives recently traveled from Kentucky to visit me in D.C. Since my apartment is way too small for visitors, we looked into other options than overpriced downtown hotels. I was thrilled to stumble upon The People's Place on airbnb, and would HIGHLY recommend it. Here's what I love about The People's Place: 1.) It's cheaper than hotels in the area, and has much more space. Located on the second floor of a rowhouse in the Shaw/Logan Circle neighborhood, the apartment has two... More »
This place is good for someone who knows Brooklyn and what to expect. Everything was provided as in the photos and in good condition. We never saw our host but he was available by email to answer questions. The overall cleanliness of the apartment could have been better but there were plenty of clean towels and nice quality bedding provided. Over two weeks after we left the apartment we received a negative comment from the host about the unit smelling like smoke. We never smoked inside... More »
Great clean place near downtown with lots of space!
Adreinne's place is cute and comfortable (and well heated!). Being across the street from the C stop is idea transport-wise. I didn't meet Adreinne but enjoyed a bit of correspondence with her and even at distance she responded to queries within minutes. Jorge, who lives downstairs and looks after things is charming and as helpful as can be. They do ask for a $400 deposit but this isn't anything to worry about. It is really just for protection against gross abuse - they don't deposit the... More »
The apartment is SO beautiful and perfectly located! When we arrived we already recognized the cute townhouse we knew from the pictures here and the rooms and interior looked exactly as on the pictures. Everything is really clean and nice. Even though Adreinne wasn't in town during our stay we communicated with her via cell and Jon who lives in the house offered us his help. We can highly recommend this apartment and Adreinne as a host.
We are a family of four with teenage kids and really enjoyed our stay here over the New Year. The apartment is warm and comfortable and was spacious enough for all of us. Communication ahead of our stay was excellent - Adreinne replied super-promptly to all our queries.
It's a great place. Nice and cozy. Especially second bedroom. We really enjoyed our stay. Just 2min walk to the subway station, which is very convinient. And the grocery store is right across the street. Thank you Adreinne!
We spent 3 nights at Adrienne's place. The place was cozy and fully equipped with bed items and blankets which can easily accommodate 6-7 people. The apartment was clean when we move in. The full size kitchen is fantastic. There is a Giant Supermarket just a few steps away where we can get all food items and do our homemade dinner in the apartment. It was during the mid winter with outside temp in 20-30F that we spent the nights there. The bedrooms were heated up with portable heaters and... More »
It was a real pleasure to stay at this place. Affordable rates, good accommodation and friendly people. And a stone's throw away from a connection to the A/C-train or the S-shuttle. I would recommend it to everyone.
Adreinne was excelent!!!
The host canceled my reservation 42 days before arrival.
Nice experience, decent place. This apartment is in a transitional neighborhood near the convention center and Mount Vernon Square. The pluses include: washer/dryer, room to roam, close grocery store, and access to the Metro. The minuses are a strange (but serviceable) bathroom, no TV, and the front bedroom has a lot of street noise at night - all night. There is a good coffee shop a block away and the Ethiopian restaurant is very good. Overall it was a good experience and good value... More »
Comfortable place, very cozy. Ideal for pople who want to experience a real feel of the suberb of NYC. The main bedroom faces very busy & noisy road. Subway station just a minute away so great connection to Manhattan and JFK airport. The place is spacious just could have been more cleaner. Great for the price.
Adreinne was out of town during our stay, but she was very easy to communicate with, and took care of any questions/issues quickly. Also, the other tenants in the building were super-friendly, bringing over fresh linens, and and giving us great suggestions for where to eat in the neighborhood. It could have been cleaner, but perhaps that was due to the short notice/quick... More »
We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment is in Bed-Stuy in Bkln which has great, cheap Caribbean food. Close to the subway and about 20 minutes into Manhattan. There were four of us in the apartment and it was comfortable for us; our French guests were very pleased and enjoyed themselves immensely. I... More »
Adrienne and Kim were very helpful during out trip to DC and were accommodating to our needs and delays. The apt/house is near the Metro, an easy walk...Neighborhood is ok, some loiterers around, but harmless. a beautiful apartment that was perfect for two people. there was really nice sunshine in the morning and we sat on the fire escape drinking our coffees. adreinne was helpful and it all went smoothly.
We spent a very pleasant time in adreinne's flat. Very convenient for the subway to manathan even for the LIRR near nostrand avenue.
We enjoyed our stay at the apartment very much! It's really a comfy and lovely place, sometimes a bit noisy in the morning with the bus stop just outside the house (but only if you leave the windows open). The subway station around the corner with the C-Line to Manhatten is a definite plus to the apartment - you reach Times Square within 30 Minutes.
The apartment was great. The subway (C-Line) is just across the street, and you can be in Manhattan in like 15-30mn. Adreinne and Jorge (the building manager) were great and helpful.
Super comfortable stay, any problems we had were dealt with quickly. Location across from the C line and shuttle was convenient. And the wireless was so helpful when trying to coordinate with friends and airlines. In response to Zoe C below, noise was not really an issue for us. I am sure the buses and shuttle were running, but we slept right through it every morning! Thanks for a great home base!
A nice apartment, great location and very good value for money. Jorge - the apartment manager - was brilliant and when we lost a backpack through the airport he was so helpful in helping us retrieve it. It's quite a noisy area (esp with the shuttle across the street and bus stop outside the window) so be prepared to wake up early!
The place was great, clean and had lots of conveniences nearby. I would definitely stay again!
Adrienne was wonderful and friendly. The subway was right across the street providing easy access to travel around Brooklyn and into Manhattan. The room clean, warm and comfortable with her lovely/interesting photos on the wall. A minimalist approach to decor but enough furniture.Water hot and plentiful and a full kitchen. When we wanted to cook more she brought us pans, etc. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
i had a great stay! The place is clean and tidy and also very convinient. Adreinne is super nice too. Thank you!
Had a great stay at Adreinne's! Her apartment was very nice, tidy, and less than a block from the subway. She was an awesome host, very flexible, and extremely understanding toward our odd time schedule. We felt very at home here! The neighborhood offered us a peak into the Brooklyn culture. Thank you! Would do it again!
Had a great stay. Adreinne was great. Subway was super close.
Wonderful stay at this place. very clean and convienent to everything (train and shopping) would definitely stay here again.
Very tidy and comfortable! Enjoyed the essence of city life in her brownstone. Safe area, so much food nearby and bus/subway right across the street! Adreinne is very helpful! Thank you!
A beautifully appointed open space in a classic Brooklyn brownstone featuring original detail and all the comforts of home. The neighborhood is ideal, one of Brooklyn's most eclectic, diverse and happening. Near all services and steps from the subway (only 20 min to Manhattan!). Tastefully furnished and comfortable, its a great place to stay for an authentic NYC experience, you may not want to leave!
November 2009Adreinne's place is very nice and comfortable, and conveniently located.
