I travel quite a lot and sometimes my room is available. I like meeting new people, trying different kinds of food, rock climbing, running, scuba diving, cycling and hiking.

I was moving to NY from Paris for business and Kei (and Ida :) ) took me in. They were so nice, polite and more than everything else helpful. They helped me with advices for the first few days and softened "big move" shock . I'll always remember them :). Thanks Kei and Ida :)
April 2011I had an amazing stay at Ida's place (I didn't meet Kei since she was away with work). The apartment was super clean (my standards are high and I was very impressed by her place) and in a great location: only a couple blocks from the subway and with a trader joe's nearby too. Ida is very sweet and kind, a wonderfully helpful host who will do whatever she can to make sure you have a great stay in NYC. I think the room is only available when Kei is travelling so you will be lucky if you... More »
Kei was out of town when I stayed here so I was hosted by her mother Ida who was wonderful. I have hosted travelers at my apartment in Los Angeles, but this was my first time using the service to stay someplace, and the experience did not disappoint. The apartment is small and simple like most Manhattan residences, but the room was perfect for my needs--a clean, private and cozy space in a fantastic location. Having lived in NYC a number of years, I am familiar with the area, but Ida... More »
This was the 2nd time I stayed at Kei/Ida's place. Again, Ida is a great host (Kei was still out of town)! My room and bathroom were very clean and the apartment was quiet. The location is great and grocery stores are very close by. Definitely would recommend the place!
This was only my second time using Airbnb and I'm sold on it after the wonderful experience that I had here. The room was terrific, clean and comfortable in a classic upper West side New York apartment. Ida was also the perfect host, generous and helpful with any questions that I had and respectful of my privacy, also just an all around nice person. The apartment is also in a fantastic location. As a female business traveller, I felt safe walking alone late at night in this neighborhood. I... More »
Kei was out of town so I never got to meet her, but her mother Ida was lovely. I felt very comfortable in the apartment and will look to stay there again on my next visit to NY.
Ida was the most amazing host. I can tell you this lady is so sweet, kind and great to have around for a chat. I really felt like I knew her for years and she knows this area very well. She keeps the apartment very clean and it was such a pleasure staying there. The location of the apartment is amazing. This area has everything you need and is great to explore by foot. It's also a very safe location The room was very clean, big for one person and had eveything I needed. If the... More »
Kei was out of town, but Ida (her mother) was there to greet me. Ida was a wonderful host. She was very kind and was accommodating to my late arrival time. The apartment / room was very clean! The location is top notch as it's a 5 minute subway ride to Time Square (on Express). I would definitely stay here again. Thanks again Ida!!
Kei was out of town, but I was generally hosted by her mother. The location is great on the Upper West Side where families and peaceful neighbors reside. Public transportation to the 79th and 72nd trains made it very swift to get downtown, and I couldn't have asked for a better location. The host was thoughtful and even gave me advice on the trains (as they can be a bit unpredictable). She respected my space as long as my door was closed and didn't mind that I left in and out of the... More »
I was tentative about staying somewhere through AirBnB, but the price was just too good and with all the amazing reviews of Kais place I had to try it out, if not for the adventure alone. What a place. Perfect location, lovely room, friendly host (Kai was away on business but her mum was there and very friendly). I honestly couldn't recommend this place enough. Being given the keys to come and go as I wanted was fantastic! There was a lock on my room door as well, so I had no worries... More »
Ida was one of the sweetest New Yorkers I met. She was extremely helpful and took all care to make sure our stay was comfortable. She was also very kind to accomodate a last minute change in our plan and took extra efforts to make our stay convenient. The house is located in a quiet street just off Broadway - very well connected to places to eat and a 5-10 minute walk to the subway. Also not to mention a very safe location. The room though advertised for 1 - is comfortable for 2. I'd... More »
Staying with Kei's family in their W. 70s apartment in Manhattan was my first airbnb experience; they are great "advertisements." Good neighborhood with many amenities: markets, recreation (Central Park and Hudson River parks within a few blocks), restaurants, shopping, walks, and public transportation. Hosts helped me find my way about within a short time, took a real interest in a guest's comfort and need for privacy (I have a virtual office). Apartment is clean, quiet, and convenient; room... My first use of Airbnb was with Ida and Jun at Kai's place. It was a very positive experience - their hospitality was wonderful. The apartment is small but clean, and just right for my needs. I had some fridge space and air conditioning in the room during a heat wave. The neighborhood is quite nice, and conveniently located. I wouold recommend their place to anyone who needs a simple room to stay on the Upper West side. Thanks very much for my positive first try at Airbnb.
This was my first visit to NYC and I stayed at Kei's for 2 weeks. I could not wish for a better host in Ida, K's mum,. who had a perfect balance of warm hospitality and intuitive understanding of my need for privacy. The apartment itself was perfect for my stay: great room, clean, access to cooking facility, bathroom...and a great location: safe, close to everything . I was given some great hints about making my way into life in NY: from travel, entertainment or any questions I may... More »
Great location between Fairway/Citarella and Zabar/H&H Bagels. It was a real treat staying with this host family. I actually got to meet the intrepid Kei during her short layover between continents. Beause her sabbatical is about to end, anyone who's been able to stay in her apartment and sample her neighborhood is very lucky indeed.
I really enjoyed my stay in Kei's room. The location is really great - on a quite street but steps away from Central park and a major subway artery. The room is fairly large for NY standards and well furnished. Kei's mom and sister keep the place spotless and make you feel very welcome - it's like visiting friends. While my schedule was very busy, I wish I had more time to spend with my hosts to get to know them better.
This is a great place to stay in Manhattan. It is a great neighbourhood, very convenient for transport and food, the room is spacious, quiet and very comfortable. Kei's mom is great, very warm and friendly. This room is not going to be available forever as Kei is coming back from her travels to claim it!
I loved my stay at Kei's. Her mom was there to welcome me even if i was very late on my arrival... I had a great week, a lot of privacy and generosity. The cat is very friendly :-). Bravo!! I will keep in touch, Ida... Thank you
Kei's mother and sister are nice and welcoming. The apartment is situated in a quiet area near Central Park, but the metro (or your feet) will take you anywhere quite easily. The poor cat is a little fat, though.
I arrived in NY after tore my ACL on ski trip 2 week previously. Jun and Ida gave tips to arrange my journey stress-free, including shuttle van from JFK. Both are really helpful with all the information about places to eat and to visit (Ida -the mum is an opera fan, so if you come to NY for that reason you will get more tips). I do like the accommodation, suited for single traveler. Very close to Natural History Museum and subway/bus cross town. Somehow I felt fortunate to see them with... More »
What can I say...this was home for me. This was a place that I actually felt like '''home away from home''' My privacy was never disturbed, the entire apt was neat, even the bathroom had some attention to detail 'chic' Ida and Jun were the perfect hosts. They offered me breakfast and the basics, everything I needed to be comfortable was provided. We were all busy, but my hosts were very hospitable they made sure they left notes at my door if they needed to convey a message when I wasn't... More »
The flat is great, very close to shops, restaurants and downtown Manhattan. Ida & Jun are great hosts and will do anything to make sure you're comfortable and happy. They even bought me cereal :). Highly recommended.
I had a great stay at Kei's place. Her mom and sister were very welcoming and helpful. The subway is close and the area is nice with plenty of shops and restaurants. Great stay overall, highly recommended!
4 people who had stayed here said it all for me. When I booked through Airbnb, I was in hurry to find a place to stay. Honestly I did not expect anything at all. But it turned out for me that it was one of great experiences. Once I stepped in the apartment, I instantly felt comfortable. I felt like I came back home. You’ll know when you stay there. I really enjoyed spending time with Kei, her sister and her mom! I felt so lucky to meet them. I would like to thank them again for their... More »
This was my first host experience and it was absolutely great. Kei's mother and sister were caring and always ready to help me out in whatever needs. The room has all you need to create your own space and live it like it was yours. The bed is very comfy, the heating works great and the neighborhood is very quiet. The position is strategic, the subway is just around the corner. I considered myself very lucky to find such a nice place with great people that made me feel like I was home.
My first airbnb experience was fantastic. I couldn't have asked for more. I stayed at the apartment for three nights and was sad to leave. Kei's mother was a such a warm and accommodating host. She was easily reachable via phone or email. I felt like she treated me as her own son. She gave me plenty of recommendations on where to go and how to get there. She accommodated even the small things... She gave me a subway card to use that a previous guest had left. She also let me borrow an... More »
It was my first time as an Airbnb guest and Kei's mum and sister made my stay way more agreeable than I could have ever thought of. They were so welcoming, helpful, thoughtful that I wished I have booked more than just 5 days/nights. The room is nice, clean, quiet and provides everything you need. The location is just perfect for upper west side lovers and those wishing to visit all Manhattan. I definitely can highly recommend a stay here.
Kei's mum and sister are fantastic and supplied me with everything I could possibly have needed. I felt more treated like a family guest than someone renting a room. The room is clean & quiet, neighborhood and location are absolutely great! It has been a very enjoyable stay.
Kei is absolutely super-fabulous-amazing. Not only did she observe house rules, she was very respectful. Kei has some magical way of being casual and warm and making you feel like you're just living with a good friend. I enjoyed having her over so much that she's actually staying a couple weeks more until she can move into her flat. I really liked that she treated the house as her own and used the living room, cooked, and wasn't shy to work in the living room with me or chill out, but was... More »
November 2011It was an absolute pleasure having Kei stay with us - she was friendly, clean, positive, interesting and easy going; it felt like having an old friend to stay rather than a new guest. She's a AirBnB host herself so she was a conscientious and easy to look after and fit readily in with the household. We would welcome her back any time and would certainly recommend her to other AirBnB hosts. Thanks Kei, keep in touch! Cheers, R
Kei was a very friendly guest and would definitely recommend her.
Kei is a very nice and positive person and a perfect guest! It was a real pleasure to have her in my apartment while I was out of town. When I came back everything was clean and perfect.
