Staying with Kei's family in their W. 70s apartment in Manhattan was my first airbnb experience; they are great "advertisements." Good neighborhood with many amenities: markets, recreation (Central Park and Hudson River parks within a few blocks), restaurants, shopping, walks, and public transportation. Hosts helped me find my way about within a short time, took a real interest in a guest's comfort and need for privacy (I have a virtual office). Apartment is clean, quiet, and convenient; room is private; kitchen is user-friendly; and Internet service is steady. Thank you, lovely hosts! Welcome back, Kei!

My first use of Airbnb was with Ida and Jun at Kai's place. It was a very positive experience - their hospitality was wonderful. The apartment is small but clean, and just right for my needs. I had some fridge space and air conditioning in the room during a heat wave. The neighborhood is quite nice, and conveniently located. I wouold recommend their place to anyone who needs a simple room to stay on the Upper West side. Thanks very much for my positive first try at Airbnb.

This was my first visit to NYC and I stayed at Kei's for 2 weeks. I could not wish for a better host in Ida, K's mum,. who had a perfect balance of warm hospitality and intuitive understanding of my need for privacy. The apartment itself was perfect for my stay: great room, clean, access to cooking facility, bathroom...and a great location: safe, close to everything . I was given some great hints about making my way into life in NY: from travel, entertainment or any questions I may have.
Airbnb delivered and so did my host who far exceeded my expectation. It is without any hesitation that I would advice any potential traveller to stay at this address.

Great location between Fairway/Citarella and Zabar/H&H Bagels. It was a real treat staying with this host family. I actually got to meet the intrepid Kei during her short layover between continents. Beause her sabbatical is about to end, anyone who's been able to stay in her apartment and sample her neighborhood is very lucky indeed.

I really enjoyed my stay in Kei's room. The location is really great - on a quite street but steps away from Central park and a major subway artery. The room is fairly large for NY standards and well furnished. Kei's mom and sister keep the place spotless and make you feel very welcome - it's like visiting friends. While my schedule was very busy, I wish I had more time to spend with my hosts to get to know them better.

This is a great place to stay in Manhattan. It is a great neighbourhood, very convenient for transport and food, the room is spacious, quiet and very comfortable. Kei's mom is great, very warm and friendly. This room is not going to be available forever as Kei is coming back from her travels to claim it!

Kei's mother and sister are nice and welcoming. The apartment is situated in a quiet area near Central Park, but the metro (or your feet) will take you anywhere quite easily. The poor cat is a little fat, though.

I arrived in NY after tore my ACL on ski trip 2 week previously. Jun and Ida gave tips to arrange my journey stress-free, including shuttle van from JFK. Both are really helpful with all the information about places to eat and to visit (Ida -the mum is an opera fan, so if you come to NY for that reason you will get more tips).
I do like the accommodation, suited for single traveler. Very close to Natural History Museum and subway/bus cross town. Somehow I felt fortunate to see them with my situation (wear brace with walking pole in the second snow storm that hit winter 2010). I already missed you guys!

What can I say...this was home for me. This was a place that I actually felt like '''home away from home'''
My privacy was never disturbed, the entire apt was neat, even the bathroom had some attention to detail 'chic' Ida and Jun were the perfect hosts.
They offered me breakfast and the basics, everything I needed to be comfortable was provided.
We were all busy, but my hosts were very hospitable they made sure they left notes at my door if they needed to convey a message when I wasn't home etc...
The area is extremely convenient! quality shops, supermarket, restaurant, bars, taxis, subway...whatever you wanted was a block away
I miss you guys already.

The flat is great, very close to shops, restaurants and downtown Manhattan. Ida & Jun are great hosts and will do anything to make sure you're comfortable and happy. They even bought me cereal :). Highly recommended.

4 people who had stayed here said it all for me. When I booked through Airbnb, I was in hurry to find a place to stay. Honestly I did not expect anything at all. But it turned out for me that it was one of great experiences. Once I stepped in the apartment, I instantly felt comfortable. I felt like I came back home. You’ll know when you stay there. I really enjoyed spending time with Kei, her sister and her mom! I felt so lucky to meet them. I would like to thank them again for their hospitality. The room has all necessities - comfortable bed, closet, chest, desk, table and TV. The location is more than you could ask for. You are close to everything you need - shops, restaurants, transportation (subway is a couple of blocks away/Catching a cab is easily done if you walk just half block to Broadway) and Central Park! Either you are on vacation or business trip, you will enjoy one of the great neighborhoods in NYC.

This was my first host experience and it was absolutely great. Kei's mother and sister were caring and always ready to help me out in whatever needs. The room has all you need to create your own space and live it like it was yours. The bed is very comfy, the heating works great and the neighborhood is very quiet. The position is strategic, the subway is just around the corner. I considered myself very lucky to find such a nice place with great people that made me feel like I was home.

My first airbnb experience was fantastic. I couldn't have asked for more. I stayed at the apartment for three nights and was sad to leave. Kei's mother was a such a warm and accommodating host. She was easily reachable via phone or email. I felt like she treated me as her own son. She gave me plenty of recommendations on where to go and how to get there. She accommodated even the small things... She gave me a subway card to use that a previous guest had left. She also let me borrow an umbrella for the cold NYC rains, which basically saved me! Meeting Kei's sister was a breath a fresh air. I really enjoyed our conversations and am proud to say I've met a new friend! She found the time in her busy schedule to grab some coffee with me right before I left, which I really enjoyed and I'll never forget :) The apartment location was prime time and it was so simple to get around the area. Anything you need or want is in walking distance - subway, shopping, food, museums, and Central Park. Kei's bed was also quite comfortable and it had the memory foam topper. The only thing I would have done differently maybe was to chat with my hosts more! I hope to see them again sometime. A+

It was my first time as an Airbnb guest and Kei's mum and sister made my stay way more agreeable than I could have ever thought of. They were so welcoming, helpful, thoughtful that I wished I have booked more than just 5 days/nights. The room is nice, clean, quiet and provides everything you need. The location is just perfect for upper west side lovers and those wishing to visit all Manhattan. I definitely can highly recommend a stay here.

Kei's mum and sister are fantastic and supplied me with everything I could possibly have needed. I felt more treated like a family guest than someone renting a room.
The room is clean & quiet, neighborhood and location are absolutely great! It has been a very enjoyable stay.
