Nice quiet place to stay. Proximity to Brown University is excellent !
November 2011The room was neat and prepared well. His location is great because it's close to shopping, restaurants, everything and the neighborhood is quiet as well. John is easy going and a breeze to live with. Would definitely recommend again.
We came up for my college reunion. Not sure what to expect as this was our first Airbnb experience. Room was pretty basic. Futon bed, a few tables, a chair, a few plants. The room could stand a little dusting but was otherwise pretty clean, bright and sunny. I realize this isn't an actual BnB so wasn't expecting a coffee maker or toiletries or the like, but I would have liked a small complementary bar of soap (Is that expected at an airbnb?). I don't travel with soap and felt a little... More »
Great location in an historic house near Brown University, owner gave great directions to the house and for finding the keys. John was very accommodating and we enjoyed our stay
Overall, the experience was a good one. The apartment was clean and John provided clear directions on how to find it and where the key would be. We had a slight issue with an errant key but John got back to us pretty quickly and was able to resolve the issue!
John's apartment is terrific! Everything is as described and commented on by others--no surprises. John responded to e-mail so fast, which is uncommon for so many hosts we have attempted to communicate with. He was on travel, but key arrangements as he described were clear & effortless. We enjoyed the 6-block proximity to Brown campus-central, and John's detailed adivce on the train connection from PVD was valuable.
John is a fantastic host. He responded quickly and was very helpful with directions to his house. He took the time to tell us all about the fun stuff and great restaurants and bars in the area. The accommodations are exactly as described and the location is perfect. Highly recommended! Thanks John!
We had a wonderful time in Providence thanks to John. The accommodations were beautiful and exactly as described. The neighborhood was lovely, and our stay at the house could not have been made more simple and pleasant. John was a wonderful host, and was a pleasure to interact with via email. The instructions and advice that he provided were precise and thoughtful.
The place is in an awesome location--right near RISD & Brown U, and a half mile or so from the historic center, which is well worth a walk around. John was very flexible with my ridiculous itinerary, and best of all, I forgot something at the place--thankfully he was in Boston for biz and he made sure I got my item. Thanks John!
The area that this house is in is fantastic, its close to the Universities, restaurants and a park/high school where they have free music festivals. John was really nice and helpful in answering all of my questions. Overall I had a very nice experience. Thanks John! Hope to see you around!
Nice room and a great location near Brown University and Thayer Street restaurants and shops. Very nice neighborhood. Easy access to I-95 and other highways for day trips. Whatever you need is available in the apartment and John is very accommodating.
After a few months of correspondence and tentatively making plans that fell through, John was still so accommodating when I finally had the chance to rent his place the other day. What you see in the pictures is definitely what you get. What you don't get a feel for are the high ceilings which are awesome. It's bright, spacious and you definitely get that old house feel as it's from the 1800s. Very close to Thayer St. which is the main strip for Brown University and RISD. I look... More »
John was a nice host. Quiet, peaceful stay. Thanks!
We were very satisfied with our stay. Since John was away we had the entire apartment to ourselves. The location is perfect for Brown related events and we would certainly stay here again if in Providence.
John was an exemplary host by offering suggestions of things to do, places to eat, informed us not to park on the street overnight (against the law), and gave us (girlfriend and I) a bigger room when the room we booked suffered water damage due to contractors working on the above floor. He's quite accommodating, the neighborhood is lovely and I would definitely stay there again--should I return to Providence.
John was a very gracious and friendly host. He helped us navigate Providence and had great accommodations.
Great location if you are visiting Brown! And John was very friendly and helpful.
Great place to stay just a few minutes away from the Brown campus and Thayer street. John's place came exactly as advertised and I had no issues contacting him or getting into my room. The futon he sets you up to sleep with is surprisingly comfy and comes with warm blankets. Shower gets nice and hot. If I ever visited Brown again, I would not hesitate to stay at John's place.
John's place was very nice -- and just like the description online. He responded quickly, especially considering my request was last minute. I recommend him to anyone else looking for a nice stop in Providence.
Our stay was great. Perfect location. We brought our bikes and were able to get around very easily. Comfortable, older home with really high ceilings and original woodwork in excellent condition. John was very helpful with arranging everything. If only we could have kept up with his attention to detail. He had another guest arriving after us and we totally spaced out and left the area with the keys. John was very patient with us and we hope we were able to make things right for the next... More »
John was great. My stay in Providence was greatly enhanced with his guidance.
I didn't actually meet John since I arrived a bit late after he had left, but the apartment is beautiful and clean. Next time I'm in Providence, I'd love to stay there again.
This was my second time staying at "Sunny Room near Brown/RISD" and John was again a very accommodating host. The location is only a short walk to food on Thayer St, Brown & RISD campuses. The shared bathroom has really hot water, which is nice to wake up to. The futon has one of the warmest comforters you've slept under. There was a wireless internet connection that made working from the house a piece of cake. Keep up the great work!
Definitely had a nice time here. The place is a historic house with a very good location on College Hill. John was very accommodating regarding logistics, given our scheduling - we ended up not even meeting him in person, but everything worked out perfectly nonetheless.
Nice place in a great neighborhood. We brought our car, but ended up walking most everywhere from this conveniently located, beautiful building near Brown University. John was also eager to give recommendations about things to do in Providence, which was much appreciated.
I was making very last minute travel plans, and John was kind enough to take me into his home with less than two hours notice. He was helpful and friendly.
The apartment and surrounding area is gorgeous, perfectly located within walking distance to the universities and downtown. The room really is as beautiful and spacious as the photos suggest. John is an exceptionally generous and friendly host. This was a great first experience with Airbnb.
This was my first experience with airbnb, and it was great. I knew nothing about Providence so John's neighborhood was a pleasant surprise. It was full of trees and was comfortable for walking, with big old houses sporting 19th-century architectural flourishes. The room was as advertised, clean with hardwood floors and plenty of light (on the second floor of the building at the corner). And as I hoped, it did NOT have lots of lace and china figurines, a convention of commercial bnb's... More »
John's apartment was spacious, comfortable, and perfectly located for reunion weekend. His instructions were detailed and precise, and, even though we didn't spend too much time at the place, we felt very welcome and close to campus. A great place to stay in Providence. And, at least for reunion weekend, cheaper and about 10X bigger than the dorms!
This is the perfect pad for a trip to Providence. John was extremely accommodating and made the check in process so easy. The location is unbeatable on the east side; close to Brown, RISD, and the restaurants/nightlife on Thayer Street. The futon is comfortable, and looks out onto all the other old victorian homes on Brown St. John has also traveled through Airbnb community and now hosts. I'd highly recommend his place in Providence. Joe, Airbnb co-founder
John was a great guest, we'd gladly host him again.
January 2012Nice guy, very communicative. Nothing much to say. Thank you John
it was very easy to coordinate John's arrival. he was flexible and very communicative. a very pleasant experience.
Nice guests. No problems at all. Welcome again.
Great guests I'd gladly host again anytime.
John is an extremely considerate guest, friendly and interesting. It was fun to see how he really warmed up to Barcelona over the week as well! Would be happy to have him stay again anytime. x Ron+Tdk
