Hello? Hello? Mic testing--1, 2, 3...
Hello and welcome to DC!
I open the doors of our home to you on Capitol Hill, and I look forward to having you as a guest.
About me?
I'm a busy student with a love for travel. In all cases, I prefer to really experience a place rather than get the prepackaged tour. What a better way than to stay with a local? The comforts of home are ever more present when staying in a home, of course :)
I've been very lucky in every aspect of my life, and I hope this luck allows me as I experience every corner of the world.
My family:
Mother saving the world at a well-known government contracted firm. She's a hoot! Ask her to do the Obama dance...
Stepfather is a very amiable, kind lobbyist who makes the best breakfasts and will relate to you on any topic. He's full of fascinating information.
Great location, very nice family. Olga picked me up at the airport which I really appreciated. Easy walk to Untion Station for trains. Thanks for the breakfasts!
January 2012Everything worked out smoothly. Olga and family are friendly. Room was nice. The best feature is the location. Extremely easy to get around (I use Metro).
We really enjoyed our stay here while attending the rally. It was the first time I've stayed in someone's home as opposed to a hotel, but it was quite enjoyable. We weren't at the house too much, but when we were we had everything we needed. Would have preferred synthetic blankets or down comforter to keep the warmth in (and be less heavy), but it was really just fine. Bed was comfortable, access to refrigerator, coffee, etc. There is an alarm system and, of course, the code is made available... More »
I had a lovely time with a friendly family and a comfy room - will definitely stay there again next time I go to Washington. It is also wonderfully central and yet wonderfully quiet.
Great proximity to Washington's tourist delights, comfortable bed in a lovely home.I enjoyed my stay. Thanks to you all.Regards Claude
I was dissapointed. I chose this place for its location on the "Hill" (4 blocks from their where I had "business"). The Host new when I was arriving on 11th October. I had to wait 15-20 minutes before anyone came to the front door, and it was not the Host. The person who showed me in, showed me a room on the lower level which was a daybed only. I had requested, first choice, the other bedroom depicted on the site (the one with the queen bed, attractive decor and amenities and a private... More »
comfortable bed five blocks "behind" the capitol. Hostess was prompt about getting in touch and facilitating access to the house, and let me leave my suitcase for pick up later that day (much appreciated). Public transport is several blocks away, and fewer taxis in immediate neighborhood than in many parts of DC.
Dommage Olga n'était pas là pendant mon séjour mais ses parents ont été très gentils et l'appartement est propre et accueillant. Merci !
I have to agree with earlier posts -- comfortable room, beautiful home, fabulous location, very hospitable and accomodating hosts. I highly recommend it and will stay there the next time I'm in DC.
wonderful house, great location, friendly, nice and so helpful people..I recomend it and hope to go back one day!! my time there was amazing!
Beautiful home, wonderful family... I had a great time!
Lovely home, lovely, bright, kind, people.Wonderful location to access Capitol Hill and Downtown.Everything you could ask for to work or savor the city. Very grateful to my wife for finding this for me. Paul Driskell
Although my stay was very short I found Olga, her family and their home delightful, welcoming, and a very nice respite from the typical impersonal hotel stay! Not only is the home beautiful and the company fine, the neighborhood and location are the best. I would not hesitate to return to Olga's home when traveling to DC again. Because this was such a pleasant stay, I will also check airbnb when traveling to other cities. Thanks!
Walking in to Olga's is like walking into a mini United Nations. There are elements of Russian, Italian and American, throw me in as a Brit and then last week Japan and Ukraine via France were represented and it gives you a great big melting pot of interesting chats around the kitchen table. Everyone makes you feel so at home, you will never be homesick. It's clean and quite and Capitol Hill is just a wonderful place to wander around - I'll be back.
Olga and her family were great and their home was lovely. They were very accommodating and I would definitely recommend them to others.
Won't stay anywhere else in D.C. Beautiful home, incredible hospitality and charming neighborhood. Five stars all around!
Olga and her family accepted me as one of their own - I could not have hoped for a better experience and, because staying with them was my first Airbnb experience, I fear I am spoiled for future visits elsewhere. The house is perfect, location perfect (a 5 minute walk to the Capitol), hosts exceptionally gracious and enjoyable to be around... You get the picture. If you want to be in D.C., it would be foolish to stay elsewhere. I'm actually moving permanently to D.C. and hope... More »
Great house, owners make you feel very comfortable. I highly recommend this property and would stay there again!
Wonderful people in a wonderful house. I wish my day hadn't been so full - I'd have loved to spend more time there relaxing. I'll definitely call here first the next time I need a room in DC.
Everything was fine, hosts were accomodating, breakfast was bountiful & delicious. 5 stars. airbnb communications system is terrible.
If anything, this description underrates this facility. Located almost within sight of the Supreme Court, the bedrooms in this renovated century old townhouse are comfortable and quiet, even though steps away from most of the tourist action and a short cab ride to anywhere else in the District.
First experience with airbnb and it was awesome! Olga's home is perfect walking distance to the hill and all the museums on the mall. I had traveled back and forth from Baltimore every day for work for 2 weeks, until a friend recommended looking at airbnb for a place to stay. I was so lucky to have found Olga's listing. Olga's family was so warm and welcoming. It definitely made me happier and more sane by getting a nice place to stay instead of fighting commuter traffic. Thanks Ogla!
a home full of genuine warmth....the building itself is a mix of history, home, and hope. it takes a certain kindness to be able to do what this family does.. open up their home, so that more fellow travelers may know historic Capitol Hill. Logistically, the house is five blocks due east from the the Capitol. A walk many have made throughout our Country's days. All the best, and enjoy your stay! Charles
I too am another that this was my initial experience with Airbnb and a very good one it was. I have been to DC a number of times over the years and having to go to meetings on Capitol Hill I preferred to stay close by in walking distance and this was perfect. Olga and her family live in a very safe neighborhood that is inviting to walk and enjoy the beautiful architecture and well maintained front yards. I appreciated their hospitality and genuine friendship which made this trip to DC a... More »
Over from the UK on a business trip, my colleague and I had never tried the Airbnb formula before. We stayed at Olga's family house and it was just what we needed. It's a great base near enough to walk to Capitol Hill, and a ten minute walk to Eastern Market Metro. We didn't have too much opportunity to get to know Olga and her parents but on the occasion we did have a chance to chat they made us very welcome and produced a tasty and healthy breakfast. They live in a lovely house and we can... More »
A Skeptic by nature, it was hard to believe that all of the glowing reviews were accurate, but after seven nights at Olga's I am a believer. Olga and her folks live in a lovely neighborhood, a pleasant walk from the Capitol building, museums, libraries, restaurants, shops, the weekly market, etc. It would be difficult to exaggerate what a great and comfortable place this is to stay and how well the hosts treat their guests.
Before coming to Olga's house, I have never tried this formula and I am glad I did. Olga and her family are charming and welcoming. I had a great experience in every aspect: the location was perfect and above all It was a extremely agreeable to be in family where there is such harmony and love. It is the best place to discover Washington and I would like to thank them for their hospitality and kindness. I would return any time
After two nights at Olga's beautiful home on Capitol Hill, we know what it's like to be treated like royalty. Olga gave up her room for us, a suite with living room, queen bed and bath, as well as her parking space behind the house. On Sunday morning she made us lattes while Ludmilla whirled about the kitchen preparing poached eggs served with croissants, cottage cheese, avocado and fresh fruit. The location was perfect, close to the Capitol and the bustling farmers market at Eastern Market,... More »
What a welcome relief from the noise and boredom of the cookie-cutter hotel chains. Olga and family were perfect hosts during my short 3 day stay. You couldn't find a more convenient location for visiting all the sights; a few blocks from the capital and likewise for the train stations at Eastern Market & Union Station. My activities were on the west side of downtown, a short and inexpensive ride on the subway. This beautiful colonial townhouse is immaculately maintained by gracious hosts.... More »
The location was really perfect, the people charming and helpful. I would return anytime, a 5 star! Kate
Olga was very welcoming to her spacious home in a very desirable neighborhood. An excellent breakfast was provided. Remember to bring your slippers. Highly recommended!
I stayed with Olga's family for a week and couldn't have been more pleased. The neighborhood is charming, and blocks from the Capitol. The house was clean, comfortable, and tranquil. Ludmila (Olga's mom)was warm and welcoming and made an enormous breakfast on Sunday. All in all, perfect.
I stayed with Olga's family for my short stay in Washington and had a fantastic time. Both David and Ludymila (Olga's mum) were warm and welcoming; and made me feel part of the family. They have a lovely home minutes away from the Capitol. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
I also requested to stay with Olga's family last minute! I stayed for a whole week and it was perfect. Olga was not home but her family was and there and there were also two other guests staying that were interesting and nice to chat with! I was very comfortable and happy....
I stayed at Olga's and it was great. Despite my very last minute request I was still welcomed and made to feel very comfortable. Got a great nights rest and was on my way the next day to a very productive day. Thanks everyone at Olga's!
Olga is great. I stayed at our place for one night and she even picked me up from Dulles airport also. She also left breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend.
I stayed with Olga and her family in DC, and had a wonderful experience! Her house is centrally located, and 15-20 minute walk from the metro stop. The neighborhood is cool, with interesting architecture and close proximity to the Capitol/National Mall. The house itself is quite interesting, from the 19th century. Breakfast was provided each morning, along with local tips about where to go in DC and how to get there. She even made crepes on the last day! I highly recommend Olga based on her... More »
We went and stayed at Olga's home for the inauguration. We had a great time. She and future step dad cook a great breakfast and we made some great friends who were also staying there! And their house is literally blocks from the Capitol, which made the journey to the Inauguration easy, unlike so many people who were trapped in Subways, etc... I couldn't imagine us having a better time unless the Obamas invited us to stay in the Lincoln Bedroom.....
It was a brief visit but Olga and her friend were absolutely wonderful guests. Kind, courteous, clean, and easy-going. And they left us an utterly delicious homemade carrot cake! No complaints here. We would have them back any time.
March 2011A great guest and well recommended.
SHE'S VERY SWEET AND QUIET. GREAT GUEST!
We had a great time with Olga and her amiga Brianna: they were super respectful, interesting, and the last night brought us queso y vino for a little mini-fiesta at home. They seemed to enjoy the recommendations too(esp the chocolate place;-). Would be happy to have them again. x R+T
Olga stayed in our apartment this past weekend and was an excellent guest! She left behind some lovely fresh food for the next guest and was delightfully neat! We very much hope to see her and her friend in NYC again soon!
I've known Olga for over ten years now. She's awesome and I'd vouch for her any day.
