I had a great time in Washington. This is a perfect place to stay specially if you want to be close to the mall. The host was very helpful and friendly. I absolutely recommend this place.

Enjoyed my visit at Lane's place. Great firm bed and wonderful breakfasts. It was an adventure for me because I have not shared an open living space with barely acquaintances in a long time. If you want complete privacy, this may not be for you. Lane's roommates were lovely people, very considerate and interesting, The apartment is away from busy El Camino, across from a park so night's are tranquil.
If you aim to get fit, he is an inspiration. His breakfasts met my needs, healthful, yummy breakfasts each morning. Then after returning back to my town within a few days, I looked into Tai Chi Chih and some Zumba, both new activities for me. Thanks, Lane
His home is near California Street with its lively ambience, varied restaurants and friendly people. A great walking area. If you are visiting on a Sunday morning, the California Street Farmer's Market is not to be missed.

Lane is a great host - a real poster child of airbnb. It was so much more than just a place to sleep. I enjoyed meeting several interesting hackers and start-up people that also stayed at his place. During my week of being there, I had healthy breakfasts, delicious dinners, and gourmet impromptu home-made desserts made by Lane and friends. The location is excellent, literally two blocks away from California Avenue where there are a ton of restaurants and stores. Can't think of a better way to experience Palo Alto. I will be back!

Excellent stay, location was good, absolutely no problem parking a rental car (some neighborhoods it can be a challenge) Actually stayed with Anant, cool dude, very accommodating, room was comfy, it was 100 degrees in Washington and his AC worked fine.(big plus!!) Bring him a good quality micro beer and you will hit it off well. Last bonus, Anant has a HUGE map on the wall of the entire DC area and will spend some time with you pointing things out. He knows what he is talking about.
Recommended.

My 13-year old son and I were hosted by Lane for seven days for our vacation -- and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. In fact, we both agree that it was the best vacation we've had. Ever.
Lane was the perfect host. In addition to introducing us to our apartment mates -- two university students interning at local area companies -- he also introduced us to the start-up founders staying in one of his other properties. He made us feel comfortable and at home.
The best part of the entire stay, truly, was getting to know Lane and the student interns and chatting with them about California, their lives, and their jobs. I came home feeling like I made new friends. In fact, one of the interns gave my son his IM address and said, "Contact me if you have any tech questions." My son, who is a geek, was thrilled!
I highly recommend Lane Rapp as a host. He's funny, plus he makes sure you have food for breakfast. Waaay better than a hotel!

All we needed was a room in Palo Alto on our tour of the Bay Area. What we got (aside from the room) was great conversation and some lasting connections. Lane is a really smart, generous, interesting guy and through him you may run into other smart, interesting people. And the fresh fruit in the morning--we didn't expect it but it was very well received.

I flew to the valley for a whirlwind tour of the startup world. I found that and more at Lane's Palo Alto townhouse. He welcomed me to town with a local restaurant recommendation that was quite good (The Counter) and even stopped by to offer a ride over to the house (I traveled from SFO via Caltrain)
Breakfast was delicious and healthy (Lane provided an assortment of natural foods). The bedroom and bath were huge and an excellent value for the price. The location is prime and is an easy walk to Stanford and Caltrain.
On my second day in town Lane gave me a driving tour of San Francisco pointing out several popular startup locations and sharing one of his favorite coffee shops with me.
If you're interested in learning more about the SF Bay/Palo Alto area and/or startup culture Lane is an outstanding host with great knowledge of town and direct personal experience in the startup world.

The room was gorgeous (with its own bath and a spacious closet)! During my summer internship in Palo Alto, I was very glad that I could have A Room of My Own in Lane's apartment! I loved the room so much that most of the time I just locked myself in working and reading. However, every time Lane invited me to do something together with him and the other guests in the apartment or in his network, it had always turned out to be really fun experience. We shopped for locally grown fruits and veggies from the Saturday farmers’ market just two blocks away, watched artistic movies at CineArts within 10 minutes walk, and took bike rides around the Standford campus. The past 4th of July holiday we had a great time picnicking and people-watching in San Francisco! Lane knows all the sources that he can easily point you to the best massage place in the area! As the only long-term female guest at Lane's place during my stay, I truly enjoyed my room and the time spent with my host and other airbnb guests

I rented out the Tatami because I needed a place to stay less in than 24 hours before flying out to Palo Alto. Not only was the Tatami perfect, but the housemates were awesome and he even found a more permanent place for me to stay nearby. Great all around experience.

Fun, clean, respectful host who gave me all the information I needed as I needed it. The room was nice, slept on a couch and was offered a towel, etc. Good conversation with roommate and other guests. Overall, Lane made my first experience with Airbnb a good one!

I had the most pleasant stay with Lane and Matt. Lane took me around to get to know what it's like to live in this quite, beautiful neighborhood in Palo Alto. Matt, his roommate even made some awesome dinner. Being a tech-minded person, I also truly enjoyed talking to them, what they have to say about Silicone Valley culture and also about their own startup challenge. I'd definitely stay here next time I visit here. Thanks, Lane, Matt!

Lane and his roommate John are Southern gents who serve up sophisticated conversation and breakfasts (that they eagerly share w/ guests). The $45 listing is as advertised - you are in the living room on the couch (and when I was there, there was even another guest in the large living room...), but everything's clean and welcoming and offers access to Caltrain, Stanford campus, use of Lane's bike, Sunday farmer's market, etc.

I sincerely enjoyed my stay with Lane, one of the most gracious and helpful hosts I’ve met. He was quick to show me around and gave me valuable tips that I would never have gotten if I would have stayed at a hotel. The location is not only close to Stanford and a vibrant neighborhood shopping street (a very good mix of dining options), but is also surprisingly easy to access downtown Palo Alto as well. The city is small and easily walked. The streets are great for touring by bike; there is a fabulous variety of nice houses to ride by. California Ave train station is just one stop from the busiest part of downtown Palo Alto. I was disappointed that the buses don’t run as frequent. So make sure to take Lane up on his offer and lend one of his bikes. You’ll be surprised how easily you’ll be able to reach all the areas around Palo Alto with little hassle and without having to depend on public transport.

Me and two other guys stayed in Lane's place for two nights. A very affable and nerdy guy. He prepared an elaborate breakfast spread which almost justified the price in and of itself.
The price for the bedroom is perhaps a bit high, but reflective of real estate prices in the Palo Alto area. It comes with its own private bathroom/shower as well.
