  Great location! Made our trip. New layout feels far more comfortable than the image suggests. In response to the message below, we only noticed the cold when the sun first went down. After that the heaters are more than adequate to provide warmth at night. No complaints here. Thank you for your hospitality Frances!

  My partner and I stayed here over Christmas and thought the location was great! The apartment was tidy and clean and had everything we needed. We didn't rate it 5* as it was rather cold throughout our stay. There were oil heaters available to use which did help warm up the room after the first day, but think it would be perfect during the summer months.

  I stayed in Frances place and everything was fantastic. The room is private and separate from the house with its own entrance so gave complete privacy. The room was as described, if anything was bigger than I expected. It had all of the facilities (kitchen, bathroom) you would need and was clean. For all those who are worried about parking (like I was), this has got to be the only place in LA where it's EASY to find street parking during street cleaning!   I loved staying in this guesthouse while visiting my son and his family. It was light, airy, and comfortable. It gave me a home away from home where I could go for some quiet time. A good bakery was only a short walk away on Beverly, but usually I ate breakfast in the guest house. It was clean and well- stocked with the utensils one would need for a simple meal. My son and his wife are going to recommend it to friends looking for a short stay in L.A. and I hope to return myself.

  Location, location, location. We couldn't have asked for a better area to experience LA from. Frances' apartment is a couple of blocks down from Melrose - strolling distance to great shops and cafes on Melrose, with The Grove about a 15 mins walk in the opposite direction.   Very nice cottage in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. The place was large enough to feel confortable with our 2 years old baby. The suggestion of coffee bar and restaurants from Frances were great tips and the location is perfect if you want to visit many different places in LA like us.

  It was simply fantastic! A very calm, clean and comfortable oasis with 100 % privacy, if you want. Everything was well organized and it we called it "home" for 3 days. We enjoyed our first coffee in the morning in the sun as well as the whole stay... Highly recommended!

We only met Frances and she is a friendly and nice person (I suppose her husband is the same :-) ) We were welcome and the appartment was very nice and clean, it is quite a big place and very well decorated, exactly as you can see on the pictures.   The location and studio are great! We didn't bother renting a car and didn't need to. Frances gave us directions and a bus schedule to beach and promenade in Santa Monica. She also gave us a list of area recommendation that were super useful. The studio was spotless and even had extra amenities we were not expecting.

  The lodging is fantastic ! The backyard is perfect for relaxing after walking to Hollywood and Sunset Blvd. This is another super thing. Frances flat is as good as it gets located. You can mostly reach everything by walk. Frances was so friendly to explain where to go and have a good time in LA. So you will absolutely enjoy your stay at this site.

  Fantastic- highly recommended! The room was clean, spacious, and nicely furnished with very nice natural light. The neighborhood is in a central location to downtown and also the beach, with great cafes, dining, and bars within easy walking distance. One couldn't hope for better hosts - friendly, helpful, and easy-going whilst always respecting your privacy. I'd hope to stay again when back in LA!

  We found "Melrose" to be everything that it claimed to be on the Airbnb website. The hosts were helpful, polite and welcoming. Their assistance with transport from the airport was much appreciated. We found the accommodation to be clean, comfortable, well-appointed. It was located within easy walking distance of The Farmer’s Market and The Grove shopping centre which was a pickup point for one of the tourist line buses that then accessed other areas of Los Angeles.

  Frances and Greg's place is lovely. It's perfectly situated near Melrose, The Grove, shopping, cafes and restaurants - so much. It's nestled on a quiet street and tucked away in a garden. Pretty perfect! Although I did not meet them (was only in town overnight), it was a wonderful place to stay. Communication was great and all went as agreed. I'd stay there again for sure.

  MelRose is a lovely guest cottage and you can't beat the location. Convenient (walking distance) to shopping and great restaurants. Quiet neighborhood and nice private yard around the cottage.   Francis and Greg's guesthouse is a little piece of utopia in the heart of L.A.--sun-filled, clean and quiet with a lovely outdoor space to sit. Within walking distance of 3rd Street and Melrose. Our hosts are as involved as you want them to be. The shower thing is workable if you space your showers out. Overall, I highly recommend this place and plan to return the next time we're in L.A.

Lovely garden, fruit trees, sweet little kitchen, skylights, lots of places to walk to, and central location for driving excursions... Really comfy blankets, too. Bring some dvds when you go. Only minor complaint: the futon mattress is pretty dead.

  Greg and Frances are really sweet and accommodating. I had allergies to the down comforter, and they changed it out without any problem. The location is quite central: a great place to use as home base for L.A. explorations.   MelRose is quaint and charming, with a quiet location that is close to everything you may want in West Hollywood. Our hosts were accomodating and sweet. Frances printed out directions for us to a venue we needed to find, over and above the expected call of duty for a host I thought! If you are a writer or artist and seek a central location with a lush private garden and inspiring accomodations, MelRose is your place!

  In their description of themselves, Frances and Greg say they are a non-typical Hollywood couple...and boy is that right! They are warm, charming, inviting, and fun! My 13-yr-old son and I stayed with them for almost a week and we couldn't have asked for a better spot for homebase.   The house itself is very nice. I stayed when there in January and it was cold weather so it was really cold. Its probably much warmer in the summer. It is an ideal location and Frances and Greg are really sweet. I would recommend to others but house is good for single person not more as it is quite small. Internet was available on wireless but very hard to get reception, 1 bar....Nonetheless the loaction makes it really good!
