Bill was a fantastic host. Thoroughly recommended!
February 2012Lovely host, good space in the room, an amazing breakfast, good location ... definitely my first option next time in Glasgow
Bill's BnB is just as beautiful as the pictures. He was very helpful upon our arrival and even offered to helped my companion communicate with his home (as it was being hit by a hurricane). Bill helped make our experience in Glasgow a great one. Besides the great customer service that Bill gave us, the house, rooms and breakfast are very nice. The location is great (quick train ride or 5 pound taxi ride to city center). I highly recommend 1883 Guest house.
Bill was a great host and great ambassador for Glasgow. A wonderful experience. Would highly recommend.
We enjoyed our stay very much... particularly that dog Charlie!! Bill was very knowledgable in all aspects of the city, country and general history, and he tailored his helpfulness to our interests. That made our stay even more valuable. We also enjoyed meeting his daughter Nadia, who helped host the breakfasts.
What a great place to stay! Bill greeted us at the door before we even hit the sidewalk. The house is lovely and cozy and Charlie the dog makes it seem even more so. Bill was incredibly helpful and curious about our trip. We had a little time to kill before we left Glasgow and Bill let us hang onto the keys and leave our things at the apt until then. I couldn't have asked for more kindness and hospitality. Thanks again!
Bill was friendly, helpful...and the room was great. I already plan to return there and spend additional time. His location is very convenient for rail right into the heart of Glasgow if one is slightly competent. I wanted to talk to Bill more and thank him for steering me to Hampden and Scotland football! What more can I say?
Bill and his family (including their dog) were a great host. We received a warm welcome and lots of useful information about Scotland in general and Glasgow in particular (and even a voucher to grant us a discount for a sightseeing tour). The breakfast was lovingly prepared and gave us a good start in an active day. The location was not far from the City Center and could easily be reached by bus. The room was very spacious and comfortable.
Really liked our room and easy to get to.
1883 Guest House is a charming place to stay with many nice amenities including maps of Glasgow and Bill's knowledgable help. Breakfast was delicous especially the homemade jam! It is a three minute walk to the train station and then one stop to downtown Glasgow at a cost of 1.40(pounds). I would have stayed longer if I didn't have to catch a flight the next day!
Nice living situation with good bus access. Enjoyed the neighborhood. Bill was very helpful and provided good suggestions.
Bill and Lorna were great hosts. We had a great visit in Glasgow and would definately stay at their home again. We were warmly welcomed and treated like family. Thanks Bill and Lorna for a great stay.
Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights at 1883. Bill was an excellent host and provided information and suggestions we wouldn't have found on our own. Can highly recommend 1883 and will gladly stay again when we next visit Glasgow.
My wife and I stayed with Bill for three nights, and it was the perfect place to explore the phenomenal city of Glasgow (pity it wasn't longer). Bill was infinitely welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful, and even makes wonderful bread and marmalade. Would recommend anyone stay, and would love to go back again.
Bill and Lorna were the perfect hosts - welcoming, knowledgeable and very accommodating. I had a fantastic time in Glasgow and would love to return!
Lorna was a welcoming and friendly host-she went out of her way to make us feel at home while we were staying. Bill was away, so we'll have to meet him next time 1883 is so handy to downtown's central station-5 minute train ride- the trains leave every 15 minutes and a round trip is only £1.50 return. The beds were comfy, the breakfasts filling, and there was a robe, slippers and lovely chocolates waiting for us on arrival. Charlie is one of the most well behaved and sweet dogs... More »
My room was very nicely furnished and very comfortable - chocolate on a tray! The bathroom was convenient, and the private entrance had easy accessibility. But the best was meeting Bill who is an organized and interesting host, and very hospitable. I plan to stay with him again next month.
There were lovely rooms, bath room, and private entrance. They were comfortable for me. also it was easy to access to everywhere. i hope to stay again!!
Wonderful hosts, comfortable accomodations, easy access to public transportation, satisfying food. I would gladly stay again and again!
Bill is a great guest and is welcome back any time.
