Product Management and cross-functional Team Leadership for Start-ups and SME's. I am an organic veggie gardener, wrangle bees and chickens, drive an antique mercedes ragtop on sunny days and love, love, love to travel and meet new and interesting people!
I was in the mood to spend a few days in Menlo Park during my last work trip to the Bay Area and I came across Elizabeth's place. What a great experience! I was the lucky recipient of very good and strong coffee, bacon & eggs, real muesli, and a dinner of Alaskan fresh fish, courtesy of her trip to Alaska recently. I try to get to Menlo Park whenever I can, and will definitely try to seek out this place in the future! It's close to downtown (both MP and PA) and also very nice and... More »
January 2012Excellent accommodation. Elizabeth and Billy were first rate hosts. Made my intensive week at Stanford Red Barn go nice and easy. Elizabeth packed me off in the very chilly mornings with my thermos full of good hot coffee. I enjoyed my conversations with Elizabeth along with Billy's companionship, and felt as if I were staying in the home of friends.
Elizabeth is a wonderful host! She stocked the fridge for our visit, gave us a bottle of wine and some honey from her own bees, and even let us use a couple of bicycles. The cottage has we needed for a two week stay. Definitely beats staying at a hotel. The main advantage of this cottage is location. It is 2 minute drive away from Stanford Shopping Center, a 5 minute walk to Santa Cruz avenue, within a couple miles you have restaurants, coffee shops, hiking trails, grocery stores, and it is... This place is especially convenient if you're traveling without a car and need to hang out in Menlo Park or Palo Alto; it's essentially on the edge of these towns (with most places in them < 20 min cycling away). If you need to go further, you'll also be close (< 15 min walk) to the Caltrain, a commuter rail that links San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties. Elizabeth will go out of her way to make you feel at home. Though she knows the area well, she's traveled... More »
Elizabeth is quite a nice, friendly and generous host. She went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and had a good breakfast every day. This was my first time using airbnb, and I was happy with the experience.
I had an excellent stay at Elizabeth's house. I was in town for an interview and would not have been able to see so much of the area if it wasn't for Elizabeth showing me the around. The bed was very comfortable. The house was in a great location. Billy, the dog, is very cute. I had a great stay.
Elizabeth was an excellent host. Unfortunately, I was very ill during my stay but Elizabeth offered me tea and honey and made me feel at home. I love Billy, her dog. The house is small buy very clean. My bed was super comfortable and the sheets were really nice. The bathroom was very clean and I loved the shower. Very nice stay.
I would recommend this room to anyone. It was beautiful, super clean, lovely, and extremely comfortable. More importantly, Elizabeth made me feel so welcome and is full of great advice about the area (with delicious fruit for breakfast). She has the best dog ever too! I am so grateful to have been able to stay here!
My stay was excellent and Elizabeth couldn't have been a better host. The room was clean and comfortable and Elizabeth is an interesting soul who you'd be privileged to meet and spend time with. I highly recommend staying here if she has the room available! The dog is awesome and friendly too...
Elizabeth is a wonderful host. She is generous, sensitive to one's need, very kind. I even had the pleasure of having an omelet, that she made for me with her own eggs (from her own chickens in the yard) - delicious ! The house is located conveniently. The room is comfortable and clean, with a firm, good bed. I am grateful that she let me stay at her place.
Great place to stay, and so convenient to Stanford and the Palo Alto area. Within walking distance to lots of places to eat, grocery stores, from thrift stores to Nordstrom. Elizabeth is great, Billy is the best, wonderful place to stay.
Elizabeth and her home are absolutely lovely! I couldn't recommend a stay here more highly.
Elizabeth was an awesome host - and that is not just a flowery phrase for the AirBnB review! She provided me valuable information about anything, introduced me to the nice places in and around Menlo Park, and even gave me an unforgettable ride in her old Mercedes! I much enjoyed her uncomplicated way, her delicious, self-roasted coffee, our inspiring conversations, and - last but definitely not least - the company of Billy, her Portuguese waterdog, who rules the place! Should I ever... More »
I had a great stay. Elizabeth is a charming, gracious and generous hostess. I truly felt welcome and at home during my visit. Fresh eggs, honey and home roasted coffee for breakfast. Yum. I learned a new phrase from Elizabeth: 'Life Enthusiast' and she is a perfect exemplar. I hope to stay there again the next time I visit the area.
Elizabeth is a wonderful host. She is very generous with allowing her guests use her kitchen. Three things that stood out during my stay at her place were: great conversation, excellent tea / coffee with fresh honey and fresh eggs. Her home is warm, clean and comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. Elizabeth was most kind and gave me a guided tour of her neighborhood that helped immensely in figuring my way around quickly.
Very nice house and room with TV. Perfect location for Palo Alto, Stanford and Menlo Park. Short walking distance to anything you might need including Safeway and public transportation. All in all a nice visit.
Elizabeth is the best host I ever had on my extensive travels around the globe. She was knowledgeable about every aspect of local activities/contacts/points of interest, whether related to my business or hobbies. And, she was always willing to help in all possible ways. When I decided to spend a couple days skiing at lake Tahoe, she offered her own condo there, at no extra charge (with that she was probably too generous :) ). The house is not huge, but very comfortable and tastefully... More »
Elizabeth, I'm so glad I got to meet you. My 3 day stay was absolutely wonderful. Yes, I did eat the last two eggs that your babies (chickens) left for me! I just couldn't stand leaving them they tasted so good! And your honey is divine. I don't usually like honey in coffee, but your fresh honey was wonderful in there. Sweetened every cup before I left for work each morning. Your place felt like "home" the second I stepped through the door. Thank you so much for opening your home and... More »
I had a great experience staying here. Elizabeth was very trusting and was happy to let me move in in spite of her not being at home on my first day. I was given fresh coffee in the morning and offered a glass of wine at night - I truly couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. I had several interesting conversations with Elizabeth and met Billy the dog. The local area is very well equipped for food shopping and transport to San Francisco or Palo Alto. A pleasant 10 minute walk... More »
I haven't had a chance to meet Elizabeth yet, as she was away in Tahoe during my stay, but I look forward to meeting the woman behind the charming and comfy place known as Silicon Bliss. With its convenient location, incredible bed(!!!), clean and cozy accommodations and unique style, I feel fortunate to have stayed at Elizabeth's and would recommend it to others looking for a special place to temporarily call home. :) Thanks Elizabeth!
Elizabeth was very kind and generous to let me stay at her house while she was away. It is a beautiful and peaceful home, with a spacious back yard. The bed was very cozy and comfy and I really appreciated the proximity to Stanford. I recommend her home heartily! Lea Pearson
Elizabeth was a fantastic hostess! For the B&B basics - a very comfortable bed in a nice room, wonderful fresh towels, a super clean bathroom, and an amazing assortment of breakfast foods (including fresh eggs from her hens!!). Elizabeth went far above and beyond what I expected from a hostess, providing me with a thorough tour of the local area, helping me make some networking contacts for my job search, taking me out for a beautiful hike, and sharing some useful advice on life & careers... Elizabeth was a thoughtful hostess and the room was nice. It's a pity that I didn't have more time to spend with her.
My stay with Elizabeth was great. She's friendly and helpful; location is very convenient; room is comfortable and clean. Bed is great - I slept very well!
Elizabeth was a fantastic host. Aside from the fresh chicken eggs and honey straight-from-the-hive at breakfast, she was willing to show me around town. She even biked with me to the local drug store, and was even willing to drive me up to the train station. We even drank a bottle or two of wine together. Staying with Elizabeth was like staying with a friend. Her place is walking distance from Menlo Park train station (about 15 minutes), a bike ride away from Stanford (about 15... More »
My stay was perfect. Elizabeth was a warm, generous host who put a lot of effort into making my stay great. She even lent us bicycles for the day, and introduced us to one of her very interesting friends in the tech scene. This was my first time using AirBNB and I was impressed.
I enjoyed my visit. Very comfortable bed and nice shower. Close to everything. I'd definitely stay again.
Elizabeth is a wonderful and generous host. She made sure I was comfortable, provided some great tips on local touring, and made me feel completely at home. Her charming home has a great location--feels like the country. Her dog Billie is very sweet. I would stay with her again.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Elizabeth and would recommend staying with her without reservation. She not only was a phenomenal host, but took the time to introduce us to the community and her large circle of friends. We plan to move to Menlo Park from the east coast and wanted to get a feel for daily life in Menlo Park. Elizabeth went above and beyond to provide us with the Menlo Park experience. For that we are eternally grateful. Jerry and Margarita Helmick
So there is not much to add to previous reviews. This house is just amazing! Nothing fancy, but its super-clean, wonderful bed, lots of pillows, bath stuff. There are even some chickens and bees on the back-yard! I got some fresh eggs, honey, organic muesli, salmon from Alaska and home-roasted coffee! So look no further if you like "all things natural" thing, seriously! There is a patio in the back yard - it should be perfect for longer stays! Elizabeth and her Portuguese water dog... More »
I really enjoyed my time at Elizabeth's. She really went out of her way to show me around Palo Alto/Menlo Park/Redwood City/Atherton/and Woodside. She also was very generous and full of good advice. Would stay with her again.
Elizabeth and her Portuguese water dog Billy were outstanding hosts for three nights. I enjoyed some delicious breakfasts courtesy of the vegetable garden and the chickens. The room was clean and comfortable; Elizabeth was very friendly and always had a story to share; and Billy was always up for an impressive trick - I've never seen a dog sneeze on command before!
Elizabeth is a wonderful host, friendly, fun to chat with and very generous with her home. She made me fresh ground coffee at 5:30 am. Now that's amazing. The studio was comfortable and quiet. The bed has a great, cozy comforter. I will definitely stay here again Fabulous veggie garden, fresh eggs and a wonderful dog named Billy . A great place for a relaxed stay. I'll be back. thanks Elizabeth for being a great host! Doran
Elizabeth's digs are fantastic. Very clean, very cozy, and a stones throw from Sandhill Road. Elizabeth is an incredibly gracious host. She is pleasant, down to earth, intelligent, and has a clever sense of humor. She is a bona fide native and has mad Bay Area knowledge. The home is very close to restaurants, bars, and about a quarter mile to SamTrans (bus) and half mile to Caltrain. I'll be staying at Elizabeth's many more times in the future, that's for certain.
This was an excellent airbnb experience. In addition to the abundant supplies of fresh herbs, eggs, and honey that graced our Spring stay, Elizabeth was a great host and a fun conversationalist. On a purely practical level, the location is excellent. Stanford is right next door, and the restaurants of Palo Alto are only minutes away. There is a grocery store 1 block away. For short or long stays, such conveniences really help. For ease, ambiance, and a great host, I highly... More »
Nice room, nice neighborhood, fun yard.
Elizabeth and Billy (her dog) were wonderful hosts and provided a comfortable, true Bed and Breafkast experience.
I stayed with Elizabeth for a week and it was a wonderful experience. From being able to gratuitously pet her dog Billy, to the home-grown honey (which made my allergies disappear in 3 days), to her special cold-brewed coffee, to lively conversation, Elizabeth was a great host. There is a parking lot just across the street from her house and I had no problems finding parking there the entire week.
Elizabeth is a fantastic host – I only had a short stay but enjoyed good conversation over breakfast, home grown honey, free chocolates, and learnt a bit about home roasting coffee :) The house is very comfortable and just a short walk/drive from downtown Palo Alto.
I really had a great stay with Elizabeth (and Billy)! She made me feel like home. Location was perfect and the place comfortable, clean and warm ... really a gem. Elizabeth is a perfect host and also awesome cook not to mention her great coffee. Everything was just perfect! Highly recommended if you happened to be in the area either for business or vacation! I am deeply thankful for everything especially including the enlightening conversations by the fire!
Very convenient location and right a car park close by. Elizabeth was very hospitable, offered me alot of food, drinks and her home grown honey and eggs. Her place is kept very clean and a new comfy bed. Her dog Billy is a very smart one too. I had a 6 star hotel experience + a bunch of useful tips from her product management experience.
A real gem! Elizabeth was the most thoughtful hostess I have ever experienced in a home-stay and I've been to quite a few over the years. She made me feel I was an old friend coming to visit and went way beyond the call of duty to make sure I was comfortable in every respect. A total delight!
Had a very nice stay with Elizabeth, who went above and beyond in driving me around Menlo, having dinner with me at Flea Street Cafe (I recommend the sardines!), and most heavenly of all, sharing some of her backyard honey crop with me. I also got some very useful project management tips. Very comfortable space, and a very convenient location. Highly recommended!
Elizabeth is an excellent host. No amount of stars are sufficient to describe how great my experience was. She made the extra effort to introduce me to the neighbourhood since I was doing some research related to that. No hotel would have gone to that extent. You'd be making the greatest mistake of your life if you're coming to Palo Alto/Menlo Park & choose not to put up with Elizabeth.
My partner and I had a great stay with Elizabeth. She was extremely hospitable (EXTREMELY), energetic, and generous, making us feel pampered, to say the least. Her house has a wonderful persimmon tree in the backyard, we also picked cherry tomatoes. Sweet little house, great stay, and we wish we could have gotten to know her more.
Elizabeth is the best, and her accommodations make you feel truly at home. The location cannot be beat, especially if you are on foot and making use of the nearby Menlo Park and Palo Alto Caltrain stations. I've rarely felt more welcome than I did at Elizabeth's, and recommend her home without hesitation. She should get an AirBnB Super Hostess badge for providing such awesome hospitality!
Elizabeth is a great host, and by now, after a week, I can also call her a friend. Great Great location near Palo Alto and down town Menlo... She is sweet, funny and giving. I was so pampered with her hospitality. If looking for something int the area, do not hesitate to book w/ her!
You cannot ask for a cooler host! Located in the heart of Menlo Park, her house was charming, with an outdoor garden, stellar patio, and a great energy. Elizabeth's hospitality puts the Ritz Carlton to shame, from the fresh baked cookies to the organic toiletries, she exceeded my expectations in every way. I will definitely stay with her again next time I am in the area. Thanks Elizabeth!
Really enjoyed my stay at Casbar. Elizabeth wasn't around, but totally had things set up for me. Great house. Wonderful little yard and patio.
Elizabeth was an awesome host. I really enjoyed my stay at the Casbar. I enjoyed her awesome coffee, fresh mint toiletry from the UK and great conversations. She definitely exceeded my expectations. Thank you very much Elizabeth!
Had a great stay, couldn't ask for anything more! Great location too, walking distance to downtown Palo Alto. Thanks again Elizabeth!
Staying with Elizabeth was great! She was extremely welcoming and provided a lot of useful information to me about the area (I was there on an apartment hunt). This was my first experience with AirBNB and it certainly left a high bar for future hosts to meet.
6 out of 5 stars - felt at home. What more can I say? A pleasant island at Menlo Park, Elizabeth is a thoughtful hostess at a wonderful place to be. I am deeply thankful for everything.
This lady is an experienced traveler. She had the apartment to herself, and she left it better than she found it- Thanks Elizabeth!
May 2011It was very good to host Elizabeth at our Anchorage condo! We found her advice, perspectives, and experiences as an active AirBnB host to be super helpful to us. We really appreciated her suggestions and would love to host her again at either our condo or our Enchanted View B&B in Homer, AK! Thanks for everything! Y&G :)
Elizabeth was a friendly, thoughtful and responsible guest- my first AIRBNB lodger. Her Portugese water dog Billy was sweet, got along very well with my dog Dharma & my cat Maui, and knew some amazing tricks! She is also a top AIRBNB hostess and gave me some good tips on hostessing and adding value to the apt stay here. We'd be happy to have her again and recommned her as a guest to others.
Elizabeth brings her enthusaism as a host to her role as a guest, leaving gifts of honey, coffee, flowers and conversation. She and her talented and endearling canine companion Billy were a pleasure to host.
I spent almost a week at Elizabeth's and it was a wonderful experience, so good that we ended as friends. The place is great, the host very friendly and helpfull. It is like staying at your own place
Lucy is a Friend October 2011I met Elizabeth on my very first AirBNB experience, and I immediately felt like I was staying in the home of a friend. She went above and beyond to assist me in any way she could, including showing me around town and introducing me to some of my first contacts in the Bay Area. I was treated to a comfortable bed, peaceful atmosphere, and even fresh vegetables and eggs from her back yard. The location is excellent, and with the extra bicycles she has for visitors to use, it's easy to get... More »
