  Based on the description I was expecting a charmingly decorated and restored older home, and got that. It was clean and orderly, and I felt at home, especially after being out an about and needed a hot bath and comfortable bed. My only reservation to tell people is it is on a busy street, so the earplugs got good use. I'm pretty sensitive to sound, so if I stayed again, I'd choose an inside room, the East or South Room.

  The house is really lovely and is in a great location! It's within easy walking distance of lots of fun restaurants, coffee shops, book stores, etc. and the bus system in Portland works really well. The house decor is really original and welcoming. As Jill and one or two others have said, you really can hear everything (as it is an old house full of character) so if you are a light sleeper, it is good to remember this. I would be glad to stay here again and hope that I can someday.

  This room was nice and big, functional, and had great decor. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the sheets were soft and cotton, very important to me. The bed gets 5 stars! I realize now that sharing a bathroom isn't something I want to do in future, but it wasn't too bad. I could have used a washcloth and hand towels.   I adore Jill's house. This was my second time staying at her place. She always amazes me how thoughtfully everything is organized and taken care of. The house is absolutely adorable, sparkling clean and smells sooooo nice, awesome kitchen pantries guests can use and everything are nicely labeled or has instructions on.   Jill's place was great. Convenient location for getting to the various east-side neighourhoods worth checking out and also easy to get downtown - right on two major bus lines. The place itself is charming and inviting to linger in should the weather not be cooperative. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Jill, but she was very available on the phone, not that I needed to ask for much with her ultra-preparedness. Worth the stay for sure.

  Although we were unable to meet Jill due to schedule differences, she was extremely responsive and her guide to the area was extremely helpful. The apartment is spotless and designed perfectly for a couple visiting. I would most definitely recommend this apartment to anyone!

  Jill's Poppy House was a great place to stay on my first trip to Portland! She's done a lot to the house, and it's really beautiful. Jill is very organized, and I like that there are specific spaces set aside for each room occupant in the bathroom and in the kitchen. Take to heart Jill's notice that the house is 100 glorious years old, and the walls are VERY thin.   Enjoyed this comfy space. Had everything we needed there. Very clean and inviting. The coverings around the bed really helped the sleeping in quotient. Would stay here again and again.

  We loved staying at the Hawthorne house during the Bridgetown Comedy Fest. It was perfectly located for the festival and a short walk to everything we needed. The house is beautiful, clean and very organized. The rooms are large beds are very comfortable. Jill is a lovely host.
