The proximity of Jen's place to Manhattan is great and easy to just jump on the bus to the Port Authority. I was disappointed that there was no cooking items (pots, pan's, or even a toaster). It was clear that Jen is in the process of moving out as there was no television. Not sure I would stay there again, but it was fine for somewhere to sleep but just not cook

To be honest, I had an OK experience all up even though I never actually stayed here (The host canceled my reservation). She was friendly and efficient when it came to booking and unfortunately my reservation had to be cancelled due to circumstances out of her control. Even so, she provided alternative options.
Essentially a fairly neutral experience!!

I had a great stay at Jen's Place which was very comfortable and with convenient buses to the centre of New York for just a few dollars.
I managed to trace a friend I met over 20 years ago on my first trip to the US which really made my trip. We went to some great restaurants and even chilled out by a rooftop pool in Midtown Manhatten.
The Park Ave Bar & Grill, only yards from Jen's place, serves great food and fabulous deserts.
Highly recommended.

everything went smooth. we really only saw ole girl the first day. she did go out of her way for us as we arrived very late. all in all it was a great alternative to pricey NYC hotels.

A great Location for only 50$ per night (+25$ with non-self-cleaning) !
The apartment was clean and well equiped (dishwasher, washing machine, kitchen, air conditioning) and my room had a king size bed!
If I visit New York again, I'll come back to Jenn's Place!

The apartment was as described, though with limited cooking utensils. The bed was comfortable, but the sheets synthetic & worn thin. It was a quick $2.50 ride into NY sometimes, others it took a while as you can get stuck in traffic (unlike the subway).
We never met Jen & as stated by a previous reviewer, were charged a cleaning fee/ key deposit which has not been refunded, despite fulfilling all conditions, which included cleaning the apartment, washing the sheets & remaking the bed.
I feel that this fee & the requirement to clean should be stated 'up front'.

BEFORE we arrived Jen was responding to our e-mail fast. We liked the apartment and that it was so close to the bus taking us down town. Jen also helped me out when I really needed a computer. Thanks for that.
BUT Jen charged us a deposit for cleaning the room. We cleaned the room but we never got the deposit back. She didn't come to check the cleaning before we left and she now doesn't respond to mail. I hope nothing has happened to her.

Excellent option to stay if you are visiting NY. Definitely, if it's possible, I would choose the same alternative again. The place is nice, comfortable, well equiped and clean. The location is extremely good if you consider how much are you paying for it. And I had an extra good luck, I kept the place for my own almost all the 7 days I was in NY 'cause the other guests left next day I arrived.
In adition, Jennifer is a very friendly and nice girl. Thank you Jen!

Jen's place can be compared to a boutique hotel which has a comfortable bed, clean bathroom and enough space to lounge in the living room and kitchen. Everything that you might need are all walking distance and most importantly it is only 10 minutes away from Manhattan. I will definitely recommend her place to anyone who are interested in exploring New York with a small budget for accomodation.

L appartement de Jen est idéalement situe en dehors de l'agitation du centre de NY, plutôt bien desservi par les bus "gypsie".Propre et confortable,équipé d une machine a laver, d un sèche linge, de la clim et du WIFI.Quelques commerces et restaurants sont proches.
La vue sur Manhattan est a 10 min de marche environ.Dommage que Jen demande une caution supplémentaire de 25 dollars pour le ménage, sous entendu que c'est a nous de nettoyer la chambre ainsi que les sols, la salle de bains partagée, les toilettes et de refaire le lit avant de partir..Nous avons vu Jen seulement a notre arrivee, elle a l'air sympathique.

Staying with Jen in New York was an absolute pleasure. We got along really well and she really made me feel safe and welcome in the big scary city. Would absolutely stay with her again if I came to New York. Thanks heaps Jen!

Jen and little Davey make for the perfect hosts. The accommodation is delightful and immaculate. Jen is an inspirational woman and is passionate about creating a warm and comfortable environment for her guests. She is incredibly helpful and willing to go beyond the call of duty.
The appartment is fabulously well kept and is a stones throw away from the BEST views of Manhatten. It is situated in a lovely developing area close to all the necessary amenities and a very quick bus ride (10-20min) depending on traffic, to the heart of New York City. There are little 20-30 seater gypsy style buses that travel frequently till all hours for $2 outside the Port Authority bus Depot on 42nd street. I highly recommend this service as the first stop is just 2mins from Jen's place.
I was on a tight schedule whilst visiting, but I would highly recommend trying Jen's innovative organic cuisine.
I leave this review with a five star rating...I would leave more but the system prohibits me from doing so. If you are looking to visit New York and want a place that exceeds value for money, check out Jen's place...you won't be disappointed...and maybe I'll see you there as I hope to return in the not too distant future. Great place near city. Nice Lady. Bandwidth superb. Interesting other guests. The little dog was a trip, friendly and energetic. Helps outside apt if you se hable espanola.

We had a very good experience renting from Jen. Even though we were an hour late, she waited for us to arrive on a Friday night, and had even reserved a parking space in her first floor garage. A very nice surprise that we did not have to park in the streets. Her apt is very nice and clean, we had the master bedroom with our own bathroom. She provided towels, and showed us the fridge and stove etc. in the open floor kitchen/livingroom. Very close to Holland tunnel, through which we went to Manhattan the next morning.
Very close to her apt. building there is a small shop where you can buy basic food for the first day or two.
The bed was wonderful, the internet worked, and we had good conversations.
My partner rented with her again to stay there for a few more days.
Can definitely recommend Jen's place.

My husband and I stayed with Jen and her mini-dog, Davey, last week. The bus system into New York was really easy to use, and only a rocks throw from her apartment on Park Ave. Jennifer will make you feel comfortable and her cleanliness is way above par. From JFK we took the airtrain $5-, to the Metro $2.25 to Port Authority in Manhattan, from Port Authority we got on the 156 bus $3.25 for a total of around $12. Amazing! Every day we went into Manhattan or Hoboken. What a fun trip! Don't wait any longer, you'll save money AND have a fabulous hostess. Definitely book with Jennifer!

I'd like to thank Jen for letting us stay at her fab apartment in Union City. We arrived so late - around 1am-and she still let us in which we were so thankful for. Great hostess, great apartment and a great person to connect with. Definitely recommend staying at Jen's place.

Jennifer was greeeeat! My bags were lost on the 1st night and Jennifer was beyond accommodating. I felt like she was a Godsend. Jenn is what you would imagine when you think of a perfect hostess and she cooked up a great welcoming dinner and an awesome breakfast with smoked salmon! We stayed in rooms 3 and 4 at Jen's place. I've never met Jen before airbnb.com and I have to say I was super impressed!! Her place is beautiful, clean, wonderfully comfortable and close to Coney Island which we came to see. She is an amazing hostess, so friendly, warm and the ultimate hostess. Wonderful communication and I would definitely recommend Gerri friends. My only regret is not being able to stay longer.
Room 4 has its own patio with incredible views.
I drove there and street parking was no problem.

I had a great time. Jennifer is very accommodating, and her dog - a little chihauhau (sp?) - is a charmer. Jen in in transition. I believe she'll be leaving her penthouse in 30 days, so keep an eye open. No matter where she lands, you'll want to stop by her place.

We stayed in Room 4 at Jennifer's place. The space is tastefully decorated, clean, and comfortable. The balcony views are awesome, especially at night when the Verrazano bridge lights up. In the morning, the penthouse brings in lots of sunshine. The balcony warms up and you can see Coney Island. Jennifer herself, is a cool hostess who knows how to have fun.

Jen's place was even better than the pictures, unlike some of the other places on this site. Set up was very cool, nicely decorated and very clean. Take her up on her meal plan, she is a great cook and you will be eating healthy good food. She seemed like a very nice person who really cared, again very unlike some of the other places on this site that claim to be hospitable. Parking was easy and the train was probably 50 steps from her place. This place and host are the real deal if you are looking for a very cool upscale/modern/penthouse/roofdeck/great view for a very good price. Thanks Jen!!!

She wasn't just a host, she was a friend. I'm a true believer that everything happens for a reason and I'm positive our paths were supposed to cross. When I arrived from my 6 hour treck to the city there was food waiting for me and a big hug as I entered the apartment. The house was everything it's advertised and more. I stayed in the smallest of the rooms but it was all I needed. The closet was huge and there is a heat/ac unit right in the room. The room stayed dark so you can sleep the day away if you stay up too late. One of my days got rained out so I just chilled on her couch all night and watched movies. She joined me when she returned home.
It was nice for a change staying just outside the city and away from the action. The train stops RIGHT around the corner and I had no problem getting around the city. I WILL always stay here when I'm in the city from now on. Thank you Jenn for a wonderful escape!

Jennifer was an amazing host and more! It felt like we'd known her for years as we got a huge hug when she picked us up at the subway station after we got lost on the wrong train. Her dog Davey is so cute and friendly! We stayed with Jennifer for 5 amazing nights and couldn't have imagined staying anywhere else in the NYC area. She definitely rounded out the perfectness of our trip! And she's an amazing cook!! Room 4 had an awesome bed, great views from the private balcony, and a nice bathroom... The subway stop is literally a stones throw away from the front door, with a direct line to Manhattan, so convenient. I would recommend staying with Jennifer to everyone! I stayed here when I first moved over to New York for 2 weeks! It was a fantastic place to stay! The bed was so comfortable and it was so handy just walking two blocks to get the train into the city! Jen really is a great hostess! She treated us to gorgeous food and kept the place so clean...don't think I've ever seen anyone clean so much :) and she showed us some really great places! Definitely a great person to stay with!

If you have the opportunity to stay with Jennifer you are so lucky she has so much to offer with incredible delicious cooking (ask her to make chicken and cous cous - yum), so clean, organized, great with kids and pets - my daughter LOVES her! And she has a wealth of info that she is willing to share - because she is the type of person that will help you just because!

I have known Jen for about two years and found her to be not only a lovely woman, but a very warm, caring and lovely person too. With Jen you can always expect and experience the best because she is strictly first class in all she does. Her cooking is fabulous, and her sense of cleanliness to my liking. Moreover, while Jen is a true people person and fun to be around, she is quiet too, offering the best of both worlds. I love Jen and feel sure you will too.

Jennifer was a tenant/roommate of mine and I never thought I would find someone as obsessively clean as me! We had a great time respecting each others' space but bumping into each other in the kitchen when she was making something fabulous!

She also threw a formal engagement party for one of my friends and it was better than if I had hired a celebrity chef for the weekend. She’s positive, upbeat, considerate and VERY CLEAN! She's also a great cook who prepares tasty, healthy meals. Jennifer is fun, yet grounded and is the consummate professional. I know where I'm staying next time I'm in town!! :)
