  rate ZERO, I too would not have paid and stayed if saw any negative reviews, since staying suddenly there is ALOT. our beds were on the ground the room was exactly like a sauna. i received over 12 emails the day i was supposed to check in asking me to cancel through AIRBNB and then pay here cash when we arrived. and if you would do that seeing as had already paid AIRBNB. room was not what was seen and booked on internet.   ZERO STARS, for 12 nights of SUFFERING, is what it deserves. Having paid in advance was a huge mistake because I could not walk out on over $1000 and pay again to stay someplace else. There was NO Air Conditioning and temperatures rose to the 90's inside the unit. It was like being in a Sauna.   I a wondering where these bad reviews were before I paid in full for my apartment. If I had seen them I may have reconsidered, but there were only good reviews posted. I had a bad experience, the apartment I paid for wasn't available, I got a call the night before to tell me that the woman in it wouldn't move out.   (too bad I can't give zero stars) This is the worst stay I have had in a motel/hotel/apartment in over three decades! Monique, the host, is an utter cheat and a liar. In addition, she has a tendency to blame her victims. I have called Airbnb and let them know about the problems, but so far, they have not done anything for me. In addition, I told Erin at Airbnb that they should refund the money, not just to me, but to everyone else who has had a terrible and utterly worthless experience... More »

  you can't find a $88/night apt in Beverly hills and comes with a free parking. clean and spacious apt with a full kitchen(no microwave). it's really a bargain. Monique is a nice host and you can reach her any time day and night. BUT, because the apt is located in a rental property (10 units). The unit next to us was renovating (from 6:30am), we couldn't even sleep at all. I wish Monique could have infomed us about the situation before we checked in. even though we paid 3 nights to stay...   I requested a room near Santa Monica, which was accepted... I was then told that it was not available and the Studio near UCLA had been reserved. I explained that this was no good for me, as Santa Monica was near where I was working while in LA. HOWEVER, seems my credit card had already been debited !!!...   We were very disappointed and angry about our stay here.The room looked OK on arrival -as in the pictures.However,we arrived late at night after an 11 hour flight from the UK with a young child.There was only bedding for 2 people there, even though we had clearly stated we needed it for 3 people in the booking.Monique did arrange for some extra bedding to be brought to us , but told me I had to pay another $10 for that on top of the $35 cleaning fee payable on arrival.That seemed very petty...   [Strathmore Drive, LA, CA90024] Brilliant location (safe neighbourhood, between Santa Monica and the centre of LA) and Westwood Village short walk away. There was a little confusion when we were booking in and the appartment wasn't as clean as it could have been. We also had to push for the off street parking that had been advertised in the advert. Would have been a bargain at $60 but for $10 more you can get a travel lodge or similar.

  UPDATE I just discovered that Monique takes units that receives bad reviews and removes them from the listing and then relists them under a different name. I rented two units for myself and family within the last two weeks and left bad reviews for both. Now neither review shows up under her Strathmore location listings.   ¨Walking distance to UCLA¨ I rented this unit for a sister who came from Canada to spend time with our very sick brother who is at UCLA Medical Center two blocks away. I needed to find a place which would maximize the time she could spend with him. However, the AirBnB listing description was FRAUDULENT in many ways.   Overall the apartment was clean and comfortable although I should have thought to ask if it was airconditioned. It was quiet and had a good location. The one big oroblem was that the stove wouldn't work a bit of a disappointment because I like to cook and was unable to prepare any of the food we brought with us.

  This was absolutely one of the worst Ive stayed in. We booked a place for two beds and got one. We had a family of four and one towel, no washcloths, no soap to wash the dishes with, no TV ( which was what was advertised), and hardwood floors when there was to be carpet. This was totally not what we paid for or expected. We also only received two pillows for four people.   Big disappointment. My family of 4 including myself booked the unit off of Strathmore which is walking distance to UCLA plus 1 parking for $77/night. Its the room with the black futon, kitchen, and 1 bedroom. After a long day of apartment hunting in the heat, we decided that it was time to check into the unit to rest and relax.   We stayed at the walking distance to UCLA for 5 nights and were very pleasantly suprised. The pool, balcony, and wireless were nice amenities and the room itself had been cleaned thoroughly just prior to our arrival. We arrived early and saw the cleaner providing all fresh linens. Monique was very easy to get in touch with and very understanding and accomodating when we were having parking issues.   Monique was a fantastic host. We stayed at the Cool Ocean Breeze listing in Santa Monica. When we arrived, she had left us ice cream on the coffee table for us. The location is just 13 blocks from Santa Monica Beach, and you can literally feel the cool ocean breeze. There is one full bed and a futon in the apartment, and Monique has a cleaning service take care of the space before you arrive.   She has been very helpful during our stay, patient in dealing with any problems. The house we stayed at, Walking to UCLA/pool/wifi, is a nice place at reasonable price: clean, safe, and the wifi worked well. In general, we enjoyed our stay in LA!
