i have quite a few apartments and receive quite a bit of emails. We update the calendars daily so ask that you only contact me if you are ready to book the same day.
Rod was nice, he helped us out after we had an emergency. Checked us in within 3 hours on night before NYE. The place was small and clean. All you need if you're young and going to be out a lot. Bed isn't very comfortable and makes a lot of noise. Neighbours can be noisy and there is no cell phone reception. Otherwise it was great.
January 2012Rod was a cool guy. I can only recommend it.
The apt was great and was booked late after I was canceled on. The location is perfect for all those looking for a real NYC experience.
The experience was just so so. Dark living room, old couch. The host was a bit impatient, unfriendly. Not recommend.
An overall pleasant experience. The room is very spacious and the appartement very clean. I recommend staying at Rod's.
We had a great stay at one of Rod's East Village apartments. Rod was very responsive and made the rental experience simple. We booked 4E but Rod substituted 3W, which was one less flight of stairs to walk up and just as good. The apartment had everything we needed and was minimalist in its decor, which is nice for a hotel replacement. The location is good, a short walk from great restaraunts and several subway lines (L at 1st, th 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, and R at Union Square). Overall the apartment... More »
We really enjoyed our trip in New York and the flat was clean, new, good bed, and very well located. I really recommend it. And a special thanks to Rod for his hospitality
We loved our trip ! the location is perfect, the room was perfect and even bigger than it seems . The flat is awesome : you'll find everything you need , and it's super clean. Last but not least, and our host was the best one ever !!!!!!! always helping us ! we'll def come back
Appartamento molto piccolo e carino, molto pulito e ottimamente situato.
Location was great. Walk half a block in either direction and you can easily get a cab. The only complaints we really had were that there were no paper towels and no hand soap in the bathroom, and there were only two towels for an entire week's stay. Roderick was very punctual and easy to get in touch with. We enjoyed our stay.
My daughter and I enjoyed our stay! Great neighborhood. Easy communications and quick responses from host. Thanks so much for an enjoyable stay!
bon logement, très bien placé, au calme (très appréciable dans une ville comme New York), petite cour très agréable lors des journées ensoleillées! simple mais confortable.
The host canceled my reservation the day before arrival.
Great space, terrific host. This comfy couch was exactly what I needed for a weekend in New York. The apartment is spacious, clean. Certainly best for self reliant travelers who are interested in meeting knowledgeable wordly people and plan to be out in that great city for most of their visit. I had a great stay and would stay again in a minute. Make sure you check the address when searching the location!
I got this apartment last minute, so I was very grateful to have Roderick offer a special rate to accommodate me. The apartment is cute, but it is located in the back house, as in you walk through a long corridor, to an outside area, and then to another building...so I felt a bit isolated, which may be great if you're a couple or if you prefer it very quiet. All an all a great, seamless stay.
Excellent quiet little studio, off the street on an excellent courtyard. The bed's comfy, the kitchen just right, and the courtyard's a nice place to have your tea in the morning. Roderick is local and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again.
This was my first time renting from airbnb and it was a great experience! I'm pretty particular about where i stay (cleanliness is extrememly important to me), and this place was great! No sink in the bathroom, but it really wasn't a big deal. The bed left a little something to be desired, but overall, this apartment was great! Close to everything you would need and pretty quiet since it backs up to another apt building on one side and the courtyard on the other. It was SUPER noisy in... More »
The apartment and the common area was clean and tidy. The bedroom was large, spacious, and clean. The bed was also very comfy. =) We picked this place because there is free parking across the street and subway is only about 10-15min walk. The neighbourhood is pretty hip, with a great organic food store right at the corner. Overall it was a great experience. =)
I told Roderick that I would arrive at 12:30am and it was ok for him. When I arrived, he didn't pick up the phone and also didn't respond to the doorbell. I had to call the emergency service and they somehow managed to get him on the phone. When I asked him what happened, he was very confused and asked me what I mean. No apology, no nothing... and this neighborhood looked pretty bad at night and I could have possibly not looked more like a tourist with all my luggage, so this was very uncool.... More »
I have to say that I was a little nervous before coming to Roderick's place because we have been exchanging very few words... But I was glad to find out that the apartment is very nice and clean just like the pictures, in a nice neighborhood, and Roderick was actually very friendly and a good host. If your are on your own and looking for a not expensive but nice and safe place to stay in Brooklyn, go for it.
Roderick came through for me at the last minute and offered a private room in his place in Brooklyn for 4 nights. He was really nice and accommodating however I didn't see him that much as I was out a lot. Great big room, just like the pictures. Standard house rules and even had my own bar fridge. Everything was provided, closet space, towels - the A/C came in handy. The place was clean. He works from home so is there during the day and also a friend of his was staying on the couch for a... This stay with Roderick was great. We had a great time, the room is clean and looks exactly like the photographs of the site. Roderick is very kind and available to give information. The roof terrace is large and the view is great, Turbo dog is adorable. The area is very quiet, you feel safe. The fridge help to manage your shopping and save money. The bus passes right outside the building and a supermarket is around the corner. We had a great trip and we recommend this... More »
Everything was just as described. Roderick was really helpful and replied very promptly. The location was perfect! It's a great neighborhood with tons or interesting cafes and felt really safe. Our only real complaint was that someone before us had smoked and the smell was lingering. The bathroom light was also a little janky, but was more annoying than a real problem with our stay. The room had just about everything we needed, except a microwave. I would definitely recommend Roderick's place... More »
Apartment was a good size for 2 people and in an excellent location. The apartment was fully equipped and clean,. The wifi, AC and hot water all worked well. The only minus I have is that there is no sink in the bathroom, only one in the kitchen area. Outdoor patio area was very nice and the apartment building is very quite since it is not directly on the street. Roderick was an excellent host and accommodated our changing arrival time & date due to the hurricane.
My overnight stay in NYC was a last minute plan. My plans earlier in the week were cancelled because of Hurricane Irene so I was in need of making last minute arrangements. AirBnB put me on the "stand-by" list and Roderick responded quickly with a great offer. His apartment is in a fantastic location...in the middle of the East Village! The apartment was great! Clean, well equipped and safe! I would highly recommend the apartment as well as Roderick as a host!
Fantastic host! I had a great time
My mom & I stayed here for a week while Dad underwent open-heart surgery at the nearby V.A. hospital. It was a cozy, nice respite after spending looong hours at the hospital. Any issues/concerns we had were quickly addressed/resolved by Roderick. *worth noting: this apartment does not have a microwave or coffee maker, which I think would be valuable additions. Also, there is no bathroom sink/one must use the kitchen sink for all purposes. that being said, it is an attractive little... More »
Roderick has 6 studio units in the building and we stayed at a different one than the ground floor unit pictured here. Location is excellent and the reservation, check-in and check-out processes all ran smoothly with Roderick - he responded promptly to every e-mail and text message. The apartments are simple but clean and well-appointed. The biggest plus of the building is its courtyard. NYC can be pretty intense and having a calm, private outdoor space is a rare luxury in the city.
Awesome place! exactly what was expected and a great location! Had a blast and would definitely do it again
The neighborhood was very nice and there are many things to do just close to the apt. The apt itself was clean and nice. Roderick was also very hospitable and showed us around when we first arrived.
The neighborhood was real nice as well as the surroundings, safe at all times, full of places to eat, have a drink, have brunch, buy vintage clothes, or just walk around. The apt was nice and cosy, as expected, and we loved the building with its inhabitants and all! We stayed at the apt for 12 days and we only had wifi for the first 3 days. The service guy came on the day we left, and it was real harsh!! Oh my God, and there's a construction under way next door! so mornings were not the... More »
Location couldn't be better if you want to see all that's to offer on the Lower Eastside. The apartment is small (especially if you're a couple as there's only 1 single bed and a mattress on the floor) but it has everything you need and is comfortable.
Hi, We had a great stay, the apartment is great, no view, but it's on the ground floor, which is god send with suitcases. It's in a great area, with lots of restaurants, bars nearby, seemed really safe. And you can easily walk to everywhere in Manhattan. Rod was very helpful. Well done!
The apartment is as portrayed through the pictures - no surprises, it is a cute place. It was clean and had all the amenities listed in the ad. The location of this apartment is fantastic. We were there to explore East Village / Lower East Side and all the spots we hoped to check out were within walking distance. If you're into vinyl, there are two shops within a block heading east & west; a few more within 5-6 blocks south of 12th. If you're into boutique clothing shops (emerging... More »
The place is lovely, his small cute dog is the sweetest thing. The bed is comfortable, warm and w/lots of space to put your things. Roderick is a really cool guy. The whole experience was just way better than what I expected. I will keep in touch for my next visit. Definitely want to go back :D There is a delicious restaurant and a cafe next to the building where you can eat very good, clean and a very good price
great apartment, clean, accessible (super close to the L train). Host was great, easy to get a hold of, accomodating. over all great experience.
The apartment was basic but very nice and confortable and warm, located in a very nice area full of shops and restaurants and extremely closed to the subway station. It was the perfect solution for us. Roderick was very helpful, he responded to our messages in no time, he helped us with the internet, he did more than he was required to do and we appreciated his help. Thank you!!!!
Everything as expected or above. Roderick is trustworthy and took well care of us with tips and recommendations on what to do in NYC. The apartment was clean and nice and as described in the advert.
We enjoyed our stay. The apartment was in a great area. Roderick was prompt with all communication and was there waiting to meet us as arranged despite travel delays. The place was clean and well furnished, although there were renovations going on in the rest of the building it didn;t disturb us. The place was nice and quiet because it is set away from the street. We had a minor glitch with the internet but Roderick sorted it out with a text message straight away. We enjoyed our stay and... More »
Greate loft! Nice Roderick and adorable bulldog Turbo! I recommend to everybody!
Roderick was very well organized, punctual and flexible - a friendly and accommodating host.
Roderick's place is fantastic. He was really nice, it was clean and spacious and exactly like the pics. It's a little far from the subway and noisy -- its near a busy freeway. The subway isn't a big deal at all during the day, but at night when you're tired and walking in the dark, it isn't great. That's the only reason I didn't give the place 5 stars. He has a really adorable dog, too! Haha!
Great place, great location, great time!!! Highly recommended!! Roderick was really nice!!!
Even though it was a very short stay Roderick made everything nice and easy for me, which was awesome since it was a last minute sort of situation. His place is cool, the room is fantastic and if you get to stay here for a few days I'm sure it will be an experience. Also, falling asleep to the sound jazz on the radio and waking up to it was a treat.
We really appreciate our... More »
Very nice host, he came through at the last minute for me.
Great place in the best area of brooklyn. Thanks Roderick, you were very helpfull.
it was a very nice room in a cool apartment. i love brooklyn now! thank you, Roderick!
If you can avoid this place, please do. Unfortunately we were unable to do so because of last minute arrangements. The wifi did not work as advertised and the place is really small for two people. On more than one occasion there were cockroaches in the washroom (but we did not see any mice). The saving grace was that the air conditioner worked really well (really hot while we were there). Roderick, himself, is a good guy and I'm sure his other places are probably better.
The Lower Eastside studio is in a good location (with access to grocery stores and good restaurants). The place faced the street and was comfortable. If it got too warm, a window could be opened. Roderick was punctual on arrival and departure. It was a good experience for someone not used to big city living.
My boyfriend and I stayed on St. Marks. The location was great and their were plenty of things to do within walking distance. Apartment was clean and comfortable. Slightly small for more then one quest. The place was excessively hot for some reason and the pipes in the bathroom made random weird ghost-like noises. The place was suppose to come with Wifi and did not. Not having Wifi as we expected to have was my biggest issue. Overall we were happy with our stay as we booked 5 nights the... More »
I recently stayed in the Lower Eastside/East Village Apartment. Excellent service from Roderick, making sure everything was ok for us and being flexible to meet our traveling times. The apartment was perfect and was exactly as is described in the profile.
Stayed in 'The City Centre-Midtown'. Very disappointed with the apartment. - Music loud until 2am Sun-Thu, extremely loud until 4am Sat & Sun. - No natural light/fresh air in the apartment. - Electricity went out, owner took nearly two days to fix the situation. As there was no natural light, we were unable to do anything in the apartment for that time (shower etc). - Toilet flooded bathroom. - Mouse came into the apartment on more than one occasion. - Owner was 3 1/2 hours late to...
