I'm a visual artist who grew up in Manhattan. I like traveling and have visited around two dozen countries and fifty cities. I've been showing my art in galleries and museums internationally for ten years, and I'm currently working on my first big artist's book. While I maintain personal time to focus on my work and read, I'm a gregarious person and enjoy hosting guests at our spacious house which has three great roofdecks for sun, shade, and smoking (only) outside.
I booked a room with Patrick for a friend who was visiting from out of town (which I made sure with Patrick was alright before I confirmed the reservation) I met her there and we were both surprised at how misleading his photographs are of the place he claims to have for rent. She stayed there because of course there are very few options available for same day rentals for a week. She told me the bathroom facilities were not clean and as with the room filled with personal effects and no... More »
September 2010The host canceled my reservation.
Awesome location and a great studio vibe. Definitely recommended.
Very cool guy, very cool pad, very great experience.
The stay with Patrick was very nice. The Apartment on the roof of a 11-storied house was like an oasis in Manhattan. Patrick and all roomates were very friendly and helpful. The contact with each other was very uncomplicated. The position is excellent. The Apart. was very clean. We would stay there again!
This is a grat location, view is great and the sundeck is beautiful. Patrick and the other roomates were great hosts. The rooms are nice and the toiet/shower/kitchen are clean and comfortable (and shared, yet we never had any problem with this, everyone used them at different times). I would definitely recommend these rooms, specially for younger guests. In my opinion, the studio, sundeck and rooms are much better in person than in the pictures.
great location, great company!
Need more especifications in the description.
More »
Great stay in this vast apartment / artistic studio, with a great roofdeck, perfectly situated. You could find something cleaner in a hostel, but you would miss the view. The room we were in was very small, and not quite as the pictures suggest. But since we only care about the quietness and the location, we enjoyed being there. (Other rooms had to be close to very noisy pipes though, and the guy was not as happy.)
Patrick is nice to work with, and very relaxed. The place is great if what you're looking for is a well situated, inexpensive place to crash in Manhattan. It's not the cleanest place, and the shower and bathroom are small and shared; nevertheless, I would stay there again.
Patrick is a very sweet and intelligent landlord and his advices were more valuable than any city guides (restaurant, exhibition, New York city life). Our bedroom was spacious and clean, with an amazing view on the Empire State Building. Other international roommates live in this loft and everyone is very respectful of one another (no noise). Bathroom must be shared but we woke up early. We never used the small kitchen, being out for lunch and dinner. Patrick is on the way to refurbish... More »
Very plaisant place to stay, well situated in middle Manhattan, amazing rooftop, very quiet place at nignt although there were three guestrooms, no noise from the streets, nice to meet other foreign guests, to speak other languages (like "Babel Tower" or "Auberge espagnole"), completely free to come and go. Very very sweet host as Patrick. The loft is amazing with sympathic artistical cafarnaum and basic comfort (little bathroom for 5 persons, no kitchen available, no bedlights or... More »
if you are looking for quiet and peace and hot shower this place probably will not fit you.. the place is nice - but the room isn't the room in the page images- it's different one much smaller. this place fits people that just want to crash someplace and don't care about nothing else .. like shower or restroom.
We enjoyed the stay in the Silver Shed. The rooftop is enormous and very chilled. The room we stayed in was very small - which was o.k for four nights, but not longer. If you wanna hang out and relax a lot in the loft the silver shed could be not the right address - as it is always busy and not really clean.
Great host. The room was exactly as described, big and with a cool view. The rooftop area was really nice.
the wiew is it good on Empire Staste building, people that stay there was friendly, but i never seet a house dirty like this. i d ont suggest this choise ..let stay ...120 $ for this? mybe 30 or 40. the bathroom ..i cant belive how it was.. i m sorry but this is true.
Patrick is friendly and very helpful. The studio is centrally located, with quick access to bus and subway stations. The room was spacious and clean, with a terrific view of the skyline at night. The shower and bath are basic, but clean, and everything works fine. I agree with others that the rooftop deck is a bonus--as is the great art on the walls.
We had a lovely time at the Silver Shed, the room was large and clean with an amazing view on the Empire State bld. Patrick is a very hospitable and helpful host. The flat is huge and the roof decks and enormous. Location is perfect, very close to the metro and buses and Penn station.
Great location, friendly host, relaxed rooftop scene. Could be cleaner, but I was out and about so much didn't really matter. Enjoyed it! Lena N.
Amazing place to stay if you're looking for a laid-back gem in NY! The outdoor patio is a great place to chat, sip wine, and view the city from a rooftop. The A/C was up and down, but we didn't hang out in the room too often. Patrick was hospitable and flexible. He was also there to give us the key, and show us around the place. Awesome location near the subway, parks, bars, and museums. It was a great stay, and we would definately do it again!
