University of Michigan
Graduate Student in English & Women's Studies
Hello! I am a PhD student in English & Women's Studies at the University of Michigan! I'm planning on doing quite a bit of traveling in the upcoming year so chances are if you are reading this, I have contacted you about a potential stay at your accommodations while traveling in Europe along the Benelux-Germany Eurail this upcoming March with my best friend, Renee, or about business as I am planning a trip in June to the Fullerton and San Marino area to visit several archives.
One of the joys of being an "abd" grad student on fellowship is that I've finished all my requirements except the dissertation, and so I enjoy a pretty flexible schedule. I am currently writing and researching chapters 2 & 3, on Philip K. Dick and Octavia Butler respectively, and so will be traveling to the California State University archives and the Huntingon Library. Briefly, my dissertation is on narrative representations of swarm behavior (particular that of socially intelligent insects) in postnuclear American fiction.
I am fascinated by pretty much anything and everything, and am very excited about both these upcoming trips ! I am a self-sufficient as well as social traveler, and would welcome conversation about anything and everything, especially pertaining to the local flora and fauna (I will of course be fascinated by anything you say about bugs, architecture, music, food, and the local beer/wine).
I am a relaxed traveler, travel light, and take in the local sights the best I can! I like talking to people from across all spectrums, orientations, and differences.
I know airbnb says all of your photographs should be full frontal, but I included one of my cat, Maya, because let's face it, she's the phantom traveler on whatever journey I go on since I'll always be thinking of what she's doing back home. You can be sure I will welcome any animals I happen across along my way, as I love cats, dogs, and all other creatures.
I tend to be a self-sufficient and quiet, but also social traveler. You will probably find me writing and writing in the early morning and late evening, but otherwise deep in the archives or traveling around Europe with Renee.
