Austin was an excellent host - when I arrived there was red wine and crackers waiting for me, it was just as if I was visiting a friend or relative. The room was comfortable and there was ample area in the common spaces to do work or relax. Austin even helped take my bags to another location at the end of my stay. Thanks Austin!

I wish we could give Austin 6 stars! My husband and I stayed a few nights with him last week while celebrating our anniversary. Austin greeted us on arrival with a glass of wine and great friendliness. Austin was a great host for my 6-night stay. Upon arrival he not only showed me the logistical aspects of his house, but took the time to brief me on the area, transportation, etc.
The house was well-kept and clean. I stayed in Room #2 which was somewhat spartan from a furniture perspective, but had a comfortable bed which suited my needs well.

My wife and I spent two days staying with Austin. Wonderful room and bathroom. He was very helpful and a pleasure to talk to. Other guests were there at the same time, one father/daughter from Belgium and a fellow from the East Coast. All very nice to speak with. We would stay here again!
I stayed at Austin's home for 3 nights with two friends visiting from overseas. We loved the neighborhood (quiet but very close to the Muni line and to Whole Foods and restaurants). It was the perfect location to enjoy the city and one of its neighborhoods. We rented the downstairs master bedroom with private bath and we were very comfortable. Austin is a very personable guy and hospitable. But, I would not stay in the room I rented from him again as it is very basic and missing a few amenities. It really is an airbed on the floor and not one of the better ones. I needed to put a doubled fleece blanket between me and the airbed and wear a fleece jacket at night as it was too cold. Very nice house, in a very nice neighborhood. The master bedroom is great: the bed has a very comfortable mattress where you can enjoy a great sleep, the room is big and with a very nice private bathroom. The entire house is extremely clean. Austin is an extremely nice person and he is always ready to help you so you can have the best time in San Francisco. I will stay at Austin's place again in the future.
Austin is a wonderful host. He provided us with all possible informations and maps. It was also a pleasure to talk with him. The room for the guests is amazing and the bed marvelous. The apartment is located in Noe Valley which is wonderful for dining and having breakfast. We can only recommend Austin's place.
Beautiful home in a great neighborhood with many good eateries to choose. Access to all parts of the City was easy using public transportation. The room had a nice unobstructed view of the deck and it's lovely flowers. Austin, who has traveled a bit, and had some very interesting insights and kept guests quite entertained. He was very patient with me and quite considerate by overlooking my mishaps.

Austin's place was great. I needed a place at the last minute and he was able to promptly accommodate me. I stayed in room iii, which was small but more than enough for me needs. The location is great, just a few blocks from the 24th St strip of Noe Valley. It probably would have been awhile before I discovered this little gem of a neighborhood, I am glad i got to explore it.
Austin was a very gracious and generous host. His patience was unlimited in pointing out interesting facts and places and giving directions.
We would recommend Austin's hospitality to anyone who would like to enjoy San Francisco.

We were in the new, beautiful garden room for a few days, and we couldn't have loved it more. It is a great place in a great location. Austin was very kind, very educated and great to talk to. We felt like we were staying with a friend.
We enjoyed staying at Austin's home. Our room was in the lower level away from the "rest of the house" with a private bath...all very nice. Three of my friends and I stayed at Austin's place while in the city to attend a conference in '10. We arrived very late at night the first night, but Austin was happy to accomodate. Austin was also quick to offer great advice on local diners and things to do. The room is very well furnished with a comfy king size bed. I remember the downstairs bathroom to be very luxurious. Staying with Austin was our first experience using AirBnB and we couldn't have asked for a better host.
The absolute best place you can stay. We enjoyed it so much we stayed in often, shopped and ate out wihin walking distance, soaked in the tub, sat in the garden, and enjoyed ourselves too much. And Austin is a superb host.
We were treated so well in Austin's home. A charming and gracious host who provided us with just the right place at the right time along with a generous dose of interesting conversation and genuine warmth. We stayed in "Room 2" which was simple but more than adequate. We had a wonderful "sing" with Shanu, his friendly big fuzzy dog, which gladdened our hearts.
Highly recommended for those seeking a real home stay in a real neighborhood.
Excellent place to stay in Noe Valley. We stayed in the master suite that opens to the rear garden and has a large private bathroom with a multi-function shower/bath which does just about everything except comb your hair. Can I rate it 10 stars? Austin is a charming, intelligent guy with an earnest and generous heart. His Victorian house, situated two blocks from the trolley line downtown, was near great restaurants and shops. The window shopping was a treat. Austin - a gentleman and a scholar ... and makes a great pot of Irish tea! And Shanu - if you ever doubted whether dogs could talk you should meet Shanu! Accomodation was perfect for my needs; a comfy room, privacy if needed and great company. There were also friends of Austin visiting from Amsterdam (Nicole & Christine) who were delightful. Austin & Shanu were wonderful hosts for my wife and I. The downstairs area where we stayed was large, comfortable, modern and clean.
The flexibility to come and go as we pleased suited us nicely and the nightly conversation and cups of tea were greatly appreciated. Austin and Shanu were very accommodating and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying with him.
5 stars. We enjoyed Austin (and Shamu) very much. Good access to Noe Valley, local shopping, parks, and SF's system of fine public transportation to other parts of the city. We were relieved that it was easy to come and go at odd hours. Of course we appreciated our very large and private space.
Staying with Austin and Shanu in December was a delight. Austin helped us find our way around town, suggested some great restaurants and let us use his laptop to make forward travel bookings. Austin was a generous host. Noe Valley is a great local community to stay in - and the Muni transit stop is only a few minutes away - so it was easy to get around.
I had a nice time at Austin's. While I spent little time at the house so eager I was to enjoy the delights of my beloved San Francisco on the weekend and of the conference at Berkeley on the weekdays, the time I did spend was comfortable and unobtrusive. The surprise prize of the stay - Shamu. What a beauty that dog is!

Austin's house is beautiful and conveniently located to the J (Muni). I came to SF on business and immediately felt welcome in his home. He has a wonderful dog who remains in the yard during the day. Austin warmly welcomed me into his home and I felt very comfortable staying in my own room.

Three of us stayed with Austin while in town for a wedding. It was exceptionally quiet, beautiful, the host a total gentleman and the surroundings immaculate. We had three very nice days at Austin's place. The room with a queen size bed and direct garden access as well as the privat bathroom are in brand new condition and very beautiful. It was a great stay with Austin. The location is good - 2 blocks walk to 24th street for plenty of restaurants and Starbucks right on the nearest corner. Austin was a friendly host that was great to chat with. Good coffee and granola, a quiet place to sleep and a modern clean bathroom.
Austin was a great host. He's very kind and provides a great bedroom with a private bathroom. There is a direct door-window to a lovely and quiet garden from the bedroom. The bathroom is brand new and stunning ! The bed is big and comfortable. He's got a very nice and caring dog (but if you've got allergy...).
The house is charming and ideally located at 20 minutes walk from Castro St. area.
Austin was a fantastic host! He was very accomodating and helpful. Also, his house is conveniently located in Noe Valley -- just south of the Castro and Mission districts. Noe Valley is a safe neighborhood with plenty of nearby restaurants and coffee shops, and close to multiple forms of public transportation. I would definitely recommend staying with Austin!
my main contact was his house mate serena, who was a real helpful & a welcoming spirit. i really didn't have any interaction w. austin beyond the email booking & directions, he asked that i didn't call. daytime, the house was busy w/ carpenters doing some renovations, but wasn't really a problem as i was out and about the city most of the days. evenings were very comfortable, the wifi was not really accessible in the bedroom tho. street parking for my car was right out front.

There is street parking in front of the house. When I was there, part of the house was being renovated, so it was cluttered. There is also a big, fluffy dog that lives at the house. A reservation mix-up lead to a delay in accessing my room (10pm) and a room with only an air mattress (the originally assigned room went to the other guest). The person who handled the situation was good and sorted things out but in the end it was not a smooth or accurate reservation.
