Thanks to Nick I felt really comfortable in the space. The room is modest - small, uncluttered, with everything you really need. The neighborhood couldn't be more beautiful, being right by the park made me happy every day.

Just as advertised, this was a cozy room close to public transportation (there are 2 buses nearby). About 2-3 blocks away there are a ton of ZipCars if you are a member, which makes it easy to get out of the city for a few hours to explore.

The house was very nice and extremely well located. I never met Nick in person but the room and amenities lived up to the description, and the price was very good.

This is a great place to stay if you like to be in the city and with people but not in the midst of it. The apartment is nicely renovated and my room was very quiet.

stay was ok, and nick - who wasn't home at the time of my stay - was providing a very clever automated way for me to enter the flat using a codelock-mechanism... Friendly flatmate meet up, and helped me make the bed in my dedicated bedroom... Good free and fast wi-fi, but towel could have been fresher...

I had a last minute stay with Nick and he was great. He did what he could to make sure I was taking care of and made things easy for me including check in, check out and a cozy warm room. Looking forward to stay again.

I had a wonderful stay here! The location could not be better - a block away from the famous Painted Ladies and beautiful Alamo Square Park, right on a major bus line, and walking distance to food and shopping. The bedroom was pretty small but all I needed as a solo traveler. The common living room area was more than enough space to stretch out when I needed. The roommates are all quiet and friendly. Highly recommended!

The Location of this place is superb. You are right next to Alamo Park and in between some great Neighbourhoods such as Hayes Valley, Fillmore, Haight and only a short bus ride to anywhere else in the city. The flat itself is a lovely old victorian style apartment. The room itself is small and could do with a bit of love and care. Plus being an old building you can hear every movement in the flat and flat above.

Nick was great, and the apartment is very nice and roomy. Its great being near Alamo Square, but the public transportation kinda sucks near there (I have come to hate the 21 bus). Overall a positive experience, but mainly a bit cold. Even though I was never there during the day, I spent most of my time there in the house alone. Me and a second guest who showed up later agree that the main hallway looks very much like it is from The Shining.

Nice place, great kitchen, great location. The bedroom is a bit dark, with little light coming into the room, and chilly, but there was a space heater. The biggest problem for me was the internet, which didn't work 95% of the time. If that's important to you, contact Nick to see if it's fixed. He's very good at getting back to you.

My 1st home away from home in SF was exactly what I was in need for... Nick's place, right by Alamo square, is spacious, friendly and oh so typical Victorian San Francisco. Nick is the kind of attentive and well traveled host that you really want to engage conversations with! I am already looking forward to my next stay at Nick's and in the meantime I will make sure to recommend his place to friends that are visiting. :)

Nick's place is located in a great part of the city, surrounded by many great San Francisco neighborhoods. His apartment is large and comfortable. The bedroom is small and basic with a bed that is very comfortable. Nick is a good communicator, he answered questions promptly and was helpful. Thanks Nick

Really enjoyed my stay at Nick's apartment last week. Just felt like being home there. The location was great, easy to go everywhere in town on foot or by bus. The apartment was very cosy, and right at the corner of the famous Painted Lady houses.

It was a great place to stay - great location, easy access to the entire city via bus stops right out the front door. The home is very cool - great common areas - kitchen, living room, dining room - and definitely felt like home after being there just a short while. This was not only due to the space but also due to Nick and his friends, who were great to spend time with. I will look to stay here again, for sure.

My husband and I stayed in Nick's home for three nights and we had a great time. Nick was out of town during our visit, but he made sure to leave everything we needed (bed sheets, towels, and even maps of the city!). The apartment is located in a fantastic location - Walking distance from Japantown, Filmore District, Ashbury/Haight, Hayes Valley, and more. Really enjoyed Nick's hospitality, he welcomed us with a nice cold drink, and had lots of info on San Fran. Linens were fresh and clean on arrival, nice comfortable feeling just staying there. Location was perfect, get around perfectly, I really recommend Nupa just around the corner, one of SF nicest bites, great food. If you go to San Fran, you need to call Nick to book your stay. If you dont you'll regret it.... Seriously you will....

Fantastic location, super comfortable bed. Alamo Square park is not to be missed, and you can easily walk to so many cool areas of the city from Nick's spot. The house is an old Victorian, so expect to feel its age. Also expect to get cozy if you're traveling as a pair, as the rooms are small. Nick is an excellent host, and one of the people responsible for building this amazing site. The room is very quiet, and the apartment is beautiful, and quintessential San Francisco. Just around the corner from Alamo Square Park, Hayes St is a beautiful residential neighborhood which you may remember from the opening credits of the tv show, Full House. As a host, Nick is someone that upholds the ideals of Airbnb.

My first stay in SF was great, I'm so glad I used Airbnb instead of a hotel. It kinda tricked me into thinking I lived there, which made my 5 days feel a lot less rushed. Nick was a great host, the place was very clean, and the other airbnb'ers staying there made my stay. One con to staying there; the place can get really cold in the winter months, its a really old building with single glazed windows. Just ask Nick for a space heater though, and you'll be nice and toasty in your room.

Nick was an awesome host and his place is in a perfect central location. When I first got in, a comfy bed and a towel were waiting for me. He's considerate and constantly in touch and makes sure your experience is a good one. It was my first time in SF and had a blast. I'd definitely stay here again.

Nicks place is the largest place I have stayed in SFO and it is centrally located to most points in the city. Thumbs up on the views from Alamo Square 1/2 block away. Nick is friendly and keenly interested in your airbnb experience. I would stay there again if space is available. The only neg was that the whole apt was chilly (the weather has been extra cold) but Nick hooked me up with a space heater and all was well

Nick is a great host and a really nice guy. The place is right around the beautiful Alamo Square and is very well connected with busses. There a lot of good places to eat, drink, buy some food in walking distance. I very much enjoyed this place, SF and everything else.

Staying with Mr Nick Grandy was simply a delight. He's thought of it all: Fresh linens and towels, guide books and umbrellas. I recommend this room to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in San Francisco!

Hayes Valley is a great location being very close to the city and areas like the Mission and the Haight while also being pleasant living with cafes, lovely houses and park. Nick's was clean and convenient with a great bath.

Nick's appartment is situated in a great neighborhood with good buslines right outside the door. The place is a real home, a home of the not-so-organized kind, but I got what I needed and spent some good nights there. Nick seems like a nice and open guy but we didn't see much of each other during my stays. He did, however, leave both guide books and an umbrella in the room.

Excellent. Nick was a great host, thank you. This place has style and soul reflecting the heart of San Francisco. Perfect location near Alamo Square. Walking distance to see many of the sights or a short bus ride. I recommend a circuit take the 22 bus or walk down Fillmore then the 28 bus from Lombard street to Golden Gate bridge. Walk across the Golden Gate bridge and on to the gorgeous village of Sausilito (30 mins further) then catch a ferry back to town..if you're lucky like me it... More »

Nick is a friendly and generous host and the other people living in the house were delightful. Bathroom and kitchen clean and well-equipped, spacious dining and living room. My bedroom was a bit cramped but comfortable. Would have seemed very small for two people. WiFi was intermittent.

I was very happy to stay at the Victorian house by Alamo Square. Nick was really nice, and let me use a guide book on San Francisco. The house is centrally located in San Francisco, and directly on the bus routes to get around town. The room is small, but my stay was very comfortable, and the bed is real....not an airbed.

Nick was away while my friend and I stayed at the apartment so I did not get to meet him and things were a little unorganized for our arrival. Otherwise, everything was fine and this was a good spot from which to explore the Haight, Mission and Castro areas. The $20 extra for a second person was a little much considering the size of the room and that we were sharing a double bed, but it was still a deal in the city.

The location is excellent, providing easy access to transit for getting around along with being an interesting neighbourhood. What is said about parking in San Francisco is true. If you have a vehicle, weekend evenings is not a good time to arrive as you can spend a lot of time trying to find a spot. I forgot my camera battery charger at Nick's place and he went out of his way to 'match us up' again.

Nick also provided some excellent advice on places to check out around town, including a great rooftop spot in SOMA. Thank you again, Nick!

We really enjoyed staying at Nick's house ; prime location, walking distance from all the cool neighbourhoods (Mission, Castro, Haight Street, etc...). The bedroom is very tiny, but the common areas are spacious and perfect to hang out. All the roommates are very chill and a pleasure to chat with. If you're looking for a cheap, nice and friendly place to stay, look no further. Merci beaucoup et à bientôt!

House was in great central location. Living room/kitchen/dinning room were more beautiful than the photographs. Nick was very professional and courteous. Room was extremely small and had almost no sunlight.

Nick's got a great place. It's comfortable and located in a convenient place (within a half block to two different bus routes). Good quality internet connection as well although the wireless signal strength varies quite a bit throughout the apartment.

Nick and Howy were very good hosts. The place is super and and having a full size kitchen was really great for making breakfast and dinner. The room was cosy too. Also, location was perfect. The bus stopped at their door, painted ladies around the corner and a couple blocks from haight st. woot.

Nick was the perfect host. He was very welcoming and hospitable. Great guy who I will stay in touch with. The house was in the perfect central location for exploring the city. I had the house to myself most of the time and there were reference books and maps for me to use. A generally relaxed atmosphere without heaps of house rules. There were lots of shops very close by for buying supplies.

Great location, and chilling on the porch eating bacon and pancakes as Bay to Breakers (foot race) streamed by wasn't too bad either ;) A+++++
