Just perfect! Jazz was most hospitable for the short time that we stayed (two nights). He kindly installed an air conditioner (thank you sooo much, Jazz!) at my request. We had everything we needed including quick access to subway and a nice, clean place to sleep at night. Jazz, let me know if you're ever in the Bay Area; you seem to know where all the great parties are happening!

We really can't recommend this place highly enough, in fact we're already trying to plan our return trip! The apartment is in a perfect location and Jazz is a super nice guy, really friendly and helpful. He introduced us to a bunch of really nice people and told us about lots of great parties. If you want to experience more than just the touristy side of New York and meet some super nice locals, then staying with Jazz is the way to go!

Jazz was a great host. Easy to stay with.

I actually don't wanna rate Jazz' crib with too many rating stars coz I don't need this one to come out too good.. when I'm going back to N.Y I will definitely stay in Jazz' apartment again, and this will not be possible if I tell the truth how it was. -then everybody want to go have a stay over there.. So stay away, so that its still possible for me to spend some time there soon ;-)

What a hidden gem in New York's best area. Having stayed at Jazzy's appartment made us feel like locals, great restaurants, bars, live music, cafes etc within walking distance. Jazz was so helpful and hopefully the next time he'll be around to come out with us. If you want to stay in one of the coolest areas in New York this is your place. And you can even get your custom made vampire fangs made next door, or get a tattoo or see the psychic! Hope to come back soon. Lisa & the London gang

Really well-located flat in a great area full of bars, restaurant, convenient stores and closed to a subway. Jazz was really helpful, as well as his friend Neil who took care of the appartment when Jazz was away. We had really great time in NYC and hope to be back there soon! thanks Jazz for everything! Well planned and nice apartment in one of the best areas in NYC. A lot of cool bars, restaurant and shops nearby. Jazz was really helpfull and the best host you can imagin. From smoke-filled Bulgarian hash dens to some mouth-on-fire falafels, Jazz has gritty downtown NYC scene sussed. No matter where I went in town I always felt most at home in East Village. It's possibly more like east London compared to the more austere central and west London. The room is small but comfortable, the bed is sleep inducing and the location is right on the edge of Lower East Side without being in the thick of it. I also highly recommend Nicky's Vietnamese rolls a few doors down on the same street, go the Classic. Made my first visit to NY superb. Cheers mate. Dan

The location is great with good bars, restaurants, and all other amenities around including access to the metro. The apartment has quite spacious and accomodated our party of four adults and one small child quite well. Jazzwall wasn't in town the whole time but left us his cell and set us up with a friend who hosted us who also left his cell and answered any questions we had at the beginning. We're low maintenance guests and had been to NYC previously several times so didn't need much. Agree with some reports that the apartment could have been a little cleaner and more noise-proof (the windows seemed paper-thin at times), but that's NYC and that's old, historical buildings for you.

Jazz was very accomodating,helpful,friendly and polite.Felt the pictures of the apartment were a lttle deceiving,much smaller than expected especially as there was three of us crammed into one room but no real biggy.If you want real New York nightlife then this is the place to stay. New York never lets you down- a must in life.

Very good location, nice and safe neighbourhood, and Jazz was friendly and respectful, and he make us feel very welcome during the two weeks we spent there. Cool, mate! Thanks again.

The location is great with good bars, restaurants, etc around. The apartment has good space upto 4. We got new bed linen and towels. Besides that the apartment was not very clean, I think we took it directly from the party before us without cleaning. Jazzwall was out, so I saw him just 5 mins to get the keys..

we had a lovely short break in this apartment in the East Village-it is just as described and easily accomodated four of us. the location is great with a lively atmosphere and lots of bars/restuarants. little italy ,soho and china town etc all easy walking distance and the subway handy for uptown. jazz is really friendly and helpful. lots of useful local knowledge and has even shipped left belongings back to us. thank you ,jazz. highly recommended.

Great location and neighbourhood. Lots of things to do in the area. Very friendly host, even though unfortunately we didn't get to spend that much time with him. Strongly recommend when spending a long weekend in NY. Thanks again, Jazz

It was great! Nice flat, friendly Jazzwall and good neighborhood.

This is a great apartment in the East Village and offers everything you'd expect from an apartment in this neighbourhood. Jazz is a cool host who will make you feel very welcome. So if you're looking for somewhere with a creative vibe, in an interesting neighbourhood, with a warm and friendly host and all the stores, bars and restaurants you could want within a few blocks then this is the apartment for you. The well named East Village Cocoon is really a nice place but the location is not the only thing... Jazz is a nice and cool host with whom you can freely talk and goin' out and partying. Thanks Jazz for your kindness and your great clean apartment (your mom would be proud ;)) (really comfortable bed by the way), we hope to see you soon during your European Tour ;) Last note... if you're looking for a safe place to stay in NY, stop searching you did found the right place :D See you and take care. The view is superb.The local area outside is sketchy but I had no problems. The doormen to the building were nice guys. I never did see Bastien or Jazzwell over the 3 days I spent there. Would like to have had curtains as other tenants are able to look right inside through the window. A working light bulb in the lamp would have helped during the evening. Room was dirty. Looked like the carpet hadn't been vacumed in a month. Only 2 block walk to 125th street metro station which is a express train too, nice. Bed was comfy with nice comforter and clean sheets.

The E 2nd St. apt. is a perfect accommodation for a low-budget traveler who wants to experience the sights and sounds of the East Village area. Both hosts, Jazz and Bastien, are as nice of people you'd ever meet. They both bent over backward to accommodate our every need.

Awesome location and room. Safe neighborhood, even late at night. Everyone was very pleasant and accomodating. I had no towel and host rushed to local store to purchase one. AWESOME! This is an excellent value.

L'appartamento è in una delle zone migliori di Manhattan, l'East Village. A due passi potete trovare veramente tutto quel che vi serve e molti ristoranti e negozi aperti 24 su 24. Bastien e Jazz sono amichevoli, usciteci insieme per farvi una birra e conoscere qualcuno, oppure partecipate a qualche festa a cui vi inviteranno e vi sentirete subito dei newyorkesi. L'appartamento è decentemente pulito, il letto confortevole, ma siete nell'East Village, quindi non aspettatevi una zona tranquilla e senza rumori, questa parte della citta non dorme mai ;)

Bastien has become a "host friend" as he has taken some of my guests recently. Bastien is a great guy, always available to work with me and accommodate even very last-minute and one-night reservations which have saved me:)! thanks Bastien and looking forward to doing more business with you. All my guests really liked his place!

Bastien place is pretty nice, It is super clean and the room and bed are very comfy. Loved the view from the terrace and windows. Bestian was very hospitable and friendly. Just a small note about the neighborhood, The location is in harlem so if you are from outside NYC it looks very sketchy on first look but is safe as I learnt during my stay there.

bastien was amazing! he made us feel really welcome and was extremely personable! he was quick to answer any questions we had about the city and checked with us to make sure everything was kosher......also, the view was just amazing...you could see everything! i wwill definitly be staying with him again on my next trip!!!! ttfn see you soon bastiien!!!!!! :)

My husband and I just spent five nights at Bastien's place and truly enjoyed ourselves. We couldn't have been luckier in the location: a 15-minute bus straight from LGA to 125th and Lexington; a 10-minute express subway ride to Times Square; a 10-minute stroll to Central Park reservoir and trails. Oh, and the view! It was better than a postcard. The bed was super comfortable, the rest of the apartment was roomy and kept tidy. The roommates weren't really around much, but when they were, gave great advice about restaurants and things to do. Although we didn't get to see Bastien much, he made every attempt to get together and ensure that we had something to do. In fact, he proved himself hospitable right away by leaving work to meet us at the bus stop and take us to his place. Very pleasant experience overall. I'd definitely recommend Bastien's place!

Bastien probably has the best view in Manhattan. Looking down from the upper, upper east side into downtown at night is really a great view. His room mates are all pleasant and gave great tips on where to go. Very much recommended.

I love Jazz's apartment. It's so cosy and nice and the location is super, right in the middle of the East Village, which of course is the best area on Manhattan! Don't miss the great rooftop. Jazz is also the perfect host, always friendly and nice. You'll have a great NY experience if you stay with him.

Jazz non è solo qualcuno che ti affitta una camera ma un personaggio che renderà molto più semplice la tua vita a Manhattan... Rivelandosi un amico in grado di incrementare il tuo network di amicizie nella grande mela ;)

Bastien place is just great! The view of the city is SPETACULAR and the apartment is huge! The location is also strategic: steps away from green express line of the subway (and just minutes away from the red) you can be virtually anywhere in minutes, no matter if is east or west side…. His place is very much recommended!
