Professional writer/editor/development specialist for an international education NGO based in Washington, D.C. I live in Alexandria, Virginia (historic Old Town district).
Although I love staying in hotels when I travel, the idea of living in someone else's space for a few days is intriguing, especially in Manhattan. Since most of my friends have now moved out of New York, I have lost all of the nests where I usually land, so I'm looking forward to trying out airb&b soon.
I am the sort of guest who leaves places exactly as I find them (or neater!), am a fanatic about straightening up, and deeply respectful of other people's spaces. I'm always punctual and reliable, and don't lose stuff, like other people's keys. In short, I'm a grown-up.
What do I like? As a writer, I like an interesting place to think, I love cities, art museums, the opera, chamber music, unusual restaurants and ethnic food, and walking, walking, and walking. I'm a Mac; not a PC. Favorite places in NY: the Morgan Library, Poet's Forum, the Met and the Metropolitan Opera, anyplace for chamber music, Soho (and Balaboosta restaurant), the Park, and places I've never been.
