I am honored to be the caretaker of the house that Dr. Blanche M. Baker lived in and I am keeping her spirit alive. I am a progressive thinker and love good conversations.
I am surrounded by amazing people that live and play life to the fullest.
I volunteer at my local elementary school and mentor nine year old students to make the choice of non-violence.
I garden in the Vis Valley Greenway. I designed a native plant garden for Recology, the dump in San Francisco. I create photograms, a photographic process that does not use a camera. I am one of the founding members of DUSTFISH, a Burningman Camp that promote LIVE music on the playa and in San Francisco.
I believe in the health benefits of floating in floatation tanks.
I love to listen, learn and laugh.
I've lived in San Francisco for over 30 years and enjoy sharing my knowledge of the city with others.

This is a home with much history and art. We were able to use the sauna and isolation tank which added another dimension to our stay. Opal is generous and has much knowledge of the area. We had a lovely stay.

I arrived a bit late from SFO to find Opal, her roomie Axel and neighbour Paul enjoying a glass of wine by the fire in one of the most storied rooms I've ever sat in. Despite the fact I should have called it a night, we stayed up for a few hours talking about music and San Francisco history. -- Which the house is a wonderful glimpse into. Waking up in the middle of an artist-infused garden that drops away to a view south from SF was a real treat too. Thanks Opal!

My daughter and I traveled to San Francisco during her spring break. It was her first trip to CA, and I was looking forward to having a fun mother-daughter week seeing SF and driving down Big Sur. We stayed with Opal for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip. She was a wonderful hostess, and her home was delightful and unique. We had only two days for SF, so location not far from the city was important. It's about 10 min till downtown and everything. Opal's house is at quiet place, at the top of the hill with a breathtaking view upon city. We had fun every day climbing the hills by car. I saw a tram station or something below so it is also convenient without car. If you love art - Opal's house is a best place to live in SF, we felt like in an museum. We had a wonderful stay in the Post-Apocalyptic Gypsy Room. We also felt welcome to enjoy the other spaces of the house such as the kitchen, dining room, hang-out room, sauna and flotation tank, which was great. Opal was very informative of the history of her house and the area and also sensitive to giving her guests space. I rented the gypsy room for 2 nights in March 2012....a great stay all around! (And I even live in SF....but had my own place rented via airbnb!) Very easy, relaxed vibe...social if you're the type...but also meditative and private if you prefer. Frankly, the big draw for me was the sauna and floatation tank (I used one once before which cost $75/hour). I was very relaxed and blissed out by the time I left. Hope to go back soon...two thumbs up!

Opal is a gem - very colorful person with a great spirit. She has great energy and really enjoys sharing her historic home with others. As someone who used to live in SF, she exposed me to a portion of the Bay I had never experienced with some great views and green spaces for hiking. The front yard and home are filled with unique artifacts and artwork. Very comfortable bed and quiet location. Super convenient to SFO (less than 10 minutes).

Staying in the "Post-Apocalyptic Gypsy Room" at Opal's this past weekend was a testament to AirBnB's ability to provide a unique traveling experience! In this economic climate, planning expenses is often the most difficult part of traveling. I've slept over Opal's place before at no charge, and she couldn't have been more warm and hospitable. She even once gave me a free pair of reading glasses I neither asked for nor needed. Opal is just so wonderful, I find it hard to imagine what more she would offer if I gave her $90.

Much like Opal herself, Essence Court is full of vibrant color and art. The guest room has a serene view of the bay and sunrise in this bedroom is spectacular. I stayed with Opal for a spell and found myself completely enchanted with Essence Court. As Opal herself might say, "Ohhh!....Yes!", I highly recommend this beautiful space and home as a wonderfully unique place to stay and a fantastic person to stay with and meet. Somehow, "Essence Court" exists in it's own realm, out of time as we usually experience it, yet you will find you're only minutes away from any number of the City's beloved neighborhoods and attractions.
