My partner Flannery and I opened goodyoga in July of 2009 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We are passionate about travel, design and meeting people from all over the world.
Together we manage a building that offers 3 guestrooms, yoga classes daily and therapeutic massage by appointment. Weather permitting, we have morning and evening classes on our rooftop. Additionally, we have 2 indoor studios for classes of up to 15 students. Class sizes are small allowing us to give each student personal instruction.
Guests of goodyoga have access to yoga classes daily and have access to the rest of the building's great amenities. The space is large and airy with lots of communal space, 3 shared bathrooms and a large kitchen. Guests always comment on the assortment of books in our library which range from Shakespeare to Lonely Planet.
Three private bedrooms, 'The Skylight', 'The Nest' and 'The Mezzanine Room' are comfortably furnished with queen size beds, air conditioning and nice linens. Additional beds may be added to either of the rooms.
Flannery and Ray were great hosts! The space has a great vibe and the bed linens and towels are fantastic, no skimping here. Landed here by chance, but couldn't have picked a better neighborhood - it's safe and there is plenty within walking distance. So much fun! I may never stay in Manhattan again. The only slight awkwardness is that during certain times, you may have to walk through a yoga class to get to the shower. If you plan correctly, this shouldn't be a problem, and is in no... More »
September 2011Great start before heading over to hectic Manhattan. Nice neigbourhood with everything you need in walking distance - bars, restaurants, shopping. Strolling down Bedford Avenue with all it's little shops is really reccommendable. Unfortunately we just stayed for 2 nights - these we enjoyed very much. The hosts were really nice and extremely helpful to find your way around and of course for all other questions we had. Would we return? Definitely!!!
I stayed at Good Yoga for a week in september (couple of days in the Mezzanie and a couple of days in The Nest). Both rooms where very nice and I slept well and safe in them. Felt so safe that I actually forgot to lock my dooor twice...The Yoga space has a nice ambiance and I found it very sociable, there was short moments of meetings with the other guests or hosts while taking breakfast or evening tea in the common kitchen. That was nice and a good way of exchanging travel experineces and... More »
The location was incredible and Ray and Flannery were great hosts.
So it has been my third stay at Good Yoga, which makes it fairly obvious that I like it a lot. Of course it also means that I'm giving feedback for the third time and I don't want to repeat myself too much. Something that I think I haven't really mentioned before is that beyond your room, there is also fairly large amount of communal space. In particular, a huge open kitchen free for everyone to use. The building is a loft building, but unlike other lofts it doesn't really have an industrial... More »

Coming back to Goodyoga for a second stay was as excellent as the first time round! It is a really great place, highly recommended and definitely my first choice the next time too!
We had a great NYC adventure for a weekend with Goodyoga as a springboard.
I'm getting to be a regular at Good Yoga now staying in all the rooms. I don't see how anyone could top them as far as graciousness, consideration and location. I feel very at home here.
The hosts, Fanny and Ray were amazing, very friendly and delightful people. The room is situated in the front of the building with its own separate entrance from the main foyer/living area. Great light, super comfy bed, use of a TV/DVD and very private. Great fully equipped kitchen and nice mezzanine area for reading or chilling out. They provided clean towels a very clean room and all the advice you could need on local spots and transportation. I live out of state and needed a place in the... More »
My second stay at Goodyoga and not my last. In my own interest I could make up bad things to prevent too many others from booking, but I would have to be a pretty ruthless liar to do that, so instead I'll just stick to the truth: Great place, really nice room, great location (close to Williamsburg, but on a really quiet little side street), Flannery and Ray are great hosts who will always try to help with whatever problem or request you might have (well, within reasonable limits, I guess).... great location, nice hosts.
Good Yoga certainly lives up to the name, there is nothing but good things to say! Ray and Flannery are lovely and generous and so are all the others that you meet in the house. The rooms (I tried two of them because of a prolonged stay) are great with everything you need comfort-wise as well as a calm atmosphere - ideal for thesis writing! With hurricane-turned-tropical-storm Irene sweeping the streets of New York, Good Yoga felt like a safe haven - I even had my eyes reopened to the genius... More »
Really nice familiar atmosphere! It was very interesting being waked up in the morning by focused breathing Yoga students! An absolute plus is the walking distance to the East Side Ferry, which eases and beatifies the trip to Downtown Manhattan a lot! Absolutely recommendable!
A cosy friendly place to stay. its about 15 mins walk to the L some of which is along a fairly unattractive street comprising small businesses and anonymous warehouses - I wouldn't want to walk this at night - but then you find yourself closer to the water's edge before turning left to get to the train. Greenpoint has some great eateries , shops and a cool bookstore and reminded me of Silver Lake in LA. The Yoga Studio staff were very friendly and helpful and I felt very comfortable here and... I have been to NYC multiple times before. So far this place has made my last trip the best one by far. The rooms are incredible, private, luminous and very very clear. The place smells like peace and good energy. There is an incredible roof with views to the Empire State building and a couple of really cute and playful cats. The owners, the yoga instructors and everybody who hangs out there are by far the nicest people you are going to find in NYC. The place is also far from the beaten path,... More »
Very nice people there. Loved being able to do yoga/meditation! Nice space and very close to my pals who live in Greenpoint and Williamsburg. The place was clean and simple.
Beverley and I had a great time in Brooklyn and Manhattan last week. The Mezzanine at Good Yoga was perfect - close to Manhattan by subway and yet in a quiet and interesting corner of Brooklyn. Ray and Flannery were very friendly and helpful - the accomodations spacious and comfortable, and there were plenty of opportunities for good yoga and to simply chat with people,
Best place I've ever stayed in my life hands down. I wish there was more of this type of accommodation everywhere. If it were any cheaper they would probably never get rid of me. Haha. Such relaxed and accomadating hosts... You feel like friends with the team here very quickly. I would stay there again anytime. And 'The Nest' is the best room in the complex - go for it.. it's got aircon, drawers for your clothes... a desk, and it's own access to the bathroom. If you need a safe,... More »
A beautiful, welcoming and unique place to stay. Everything is clean and cozy, and the GoodYoga crew are the nicest people you'll ever meet. I stayed three nights and loved every minute. So close to delicious restaurants, a great bookstore, well-stocked markets, and friendly folks abound in this neighborhood. Comfy bed and book-stocked shelves! Stay here and keep this lovely yoga community alive and well.
The good yoga was great place and we felt like comming home. The hosts were very welcoming and had lots of good insider tips. we were greatfull for the a.c. and the moskitonet. The surroundings were awesome. we felt very safe in Brooklyn. Highly recommended. Thanks for the amazing time. Diane and Isabel
This place was so awesome! I totally loved it and will always come back! It's clean, convenient, really low key, and there's lot of yoga. I really appreciate how comfortable, safe, and awesome it was! Best, xxoo
Another fabulous stay at Good Yoga. This time in the Skylight room which worked perfectly for me. I scheduled another stay in September.
Good Yoga is a very calm place. This bnb rental was exactly what I was looking for on my extended vacation to NYC. The apt is a few blocks to the subway line. The neighborhood is up and coming with cute shops and a very family feel to it. There are many great places to grab a bite to eat....Be sure to check out Peter Pan Bakery. I like being able to use a kitchen when I travel; however, at Good Yoga during the week you will be able to eat there with out having to shop at the market!... More »
I had a fantastic three night stay in the Mezzanine in June 2011. Ray and Flannery were on their way out of town when I arrived but everyone I encountered was extremely helpful. It couldn't have been easier to use the room as a base while exploring the city and visiting friends. Shared spaces were welcoming and the food smelled delicious. Can't wait to return, hoping for a longer visit to practice yoga as well as explore the neighborhood further.
The host canceled my reservation the day before arrival.
Awesome. Flannery and Ray are the perfect host. They really take care about you . The house is just perfect : clean, spacefull, and peacefull. The food is also amazing. If you are looking a quiet place where you met kind and openminded people, don't hesitate : go !
A totally serene and lovely experience - on multiple levels, the yoga, the food, the people. If you're thinking twice, don't - just do it. Ashram in the city, you won't regret it.
Arriving for the first time in the United States, I was literally overwhelmed by all that NYC had to offer. The Nest offers a warm and cosy atmosphere as well as quiet and green surroundings. But this is just infrastructure, hardware so to speak. What revitalizes the place and especially the guests are the hosts! Flannery, Ray, Kathryn and Moti - many thanks indeed for hospitality, excellent yoga lessons, and 'genuine food'. Cheers, J.
Goodyoga was an amazing place to stay whilst visting New York. The option of doing some soul nourishing yoga was highly appreciated and grounding versus the whirlwind city of New York. The building is a stylish and comfortable converted warehouse, with some great food options when the chef was working. The nearby area of Williamsburgh and Greenpoint are great for exploring and hanging out, sipping coffee and staring at real-life New Yorkers in their fashion finery! Flannery and Ray were... More »
Good Yoga is a great space! The building is open and airy throughout; hardwood floors and high ceilings. There's a roof-top deck where yoga classes are held. And they have a little cafe where you can get amazing chai. Ray got me to the airport as well; I appreciated having the airport transportation service option. I loved my room; quiet and comfortable, with the ability to lock the doors if you want. More character and personalized than a hotel would have been- kind of like an... More »
So, I needed a place to stay in Greenpoint while visiting family and was intrigued by the possibility of staying at Goodyoga in the 'Nest'. This place was clean, quiet and it feels like sleeping in a treehouse because the multiple windows are covered by vines. Flannery and Ray were as hospitable and the perfect hosts. I enjoyed my visit to Goodyoga and look forward to staying there on my next visit.
Be prepared to feel completely welcome - zened - and feng sui-d! This place is a retreat and a very relaxed place. The fran and ray are fantastic , warm, funny and very passionate about their lifestyle and life. Its a fantastic place for any yoga fan or someone what wants somewhere light, warm and a space with a great sense of community! I wish I had stayed longer and would definitely return to this spot!
Had a great time at Good Yoga. Perffect location and the host made me feel welcome.
Sadly I had a last minute change of plans and I couldnt make it. I am really looking forward to staying at the nest further on
Good Yoga was a very relaxed and comfortable experience. I needed a place to stay which was last minute and this was the perfect place. It was quiet and located in a very safe and funky area. Far enough from the crowds but close enough if you were looking to party. Even if you're not into yoga I was still recommend a stay.
Ray was a great host. I appreciate that he provided extra heating when it was little chilly. He even changed the door lock when I wasn't so sure about the old doorknob with lock. Bathroom was shared by another guest--but it was kept clean.
Ray and Flannery were and ARE the perfect hosts! I couldn't have picked a better base in NY then the 'Nest'. It's a beautiful and very quiet room, and everything is spotless. It felt like home from the first minute and I felt more then welcome by everybody! Thanks again for everything!
we had a great time in NY and a wonderful stay at good yoga. the hosts were very considerable of our needs. we checked in at 5 AM and they were ready for us with no extra charge. also, we were happy to meet nice and inteligent people. although and we don't practice yoga, we apriciated the calm atmosphere that there is at good yoga. also- the price is very reasonable and the neighbourhood has s lot to offer. if you still have doubts, we would reconend you to go there!
A wonderful experience and place to stay. Both indoor and outdoor spaces to relax, set in one of Brooklyn' s finest areas and within reach of good coffee houses, restaurants, book stores, vintage shops and other interesting boutiques. Friendly and knowledgable staff that make you feel welcome and at home.
Really nice place and a different New York experience!
This place is great! I felt like at home. The people, the yoga and the food were just lovely. It's a short way to go to Manhatten, but it's anyway cooler to hang out in Brooklyn.
Stay at Good Yoga! Seriously! Flannery and Ray are amazing hosts and provide their guests with everything you would wish for. The Nest is a really nice room, the only downside being the bed. It is so comfortable that you will hardly want to leave it! Add the really laid back vibe of the place and great food prepared by chef Moti (of which I only tasted a delicious pizza) and you get your perfect place to stay in New York. Nice place and good vibes ! it was a peaceful holidays surronding by pleasant people. Lots of space, very enjoyable. Thanks guys !
The room at Good Yoga is ideal for the traveling yoga practitioner. The atmosphere is quiet, peaceful and you can take any class for just $ 5. The spacious kitchen is well equipped so that you can choose to feed yourself and not need to eat out 3 meals a day.
I would recommend Goodyoga to anybody. Everyone there was extremely welcoming and helpful and the place was quiet and comfortable and situated in a great neighborhood. I felt very independent, could do my own laundry there (a big plus for me!) and having the use of a kitchen was great. I was there in march, and I can only imagine it would be wonderful in summer, considering the rooftop access. Highly recommended!
Good Yoga is a great place to stay if you want a light, airy room with a comfortable bed and don't mind working your entrances and exits around yoga classes that are going on in the room below. I've stayed here twice now, once for nearly a week, and the classes only cramped my style once, so this is not really a huge deal. The kitchen is large and light and well equipped, the staff are very friendly and there is an amazing pizza place a few blocks away at Greenpoint and Franklin. The... More »
Good Yoga is a wonderful place to stay in Greenpoint. It is convenient to the subway, coffee shops and to a good grocery store. The whole studio building is clean and well cared for. The kitchen is available for use (clean and well equipped), a house computer is in one of the two lounge areas, there plenty of books to peruse and charming hosts. I will use them again.
I had to work remotely and live in Brooklyn for five days this January and I could not have picked a more perfect place than Ray and Flan's Goodyoga. It was a unique experience where I was able to live like a BK local and yet be provided amenities and treated with all of the care of a B&B. Ray and Flannery are amazing hosts and I would recommend them to absolutely everyone ! Their space is super tranquil and gorgeous ... if you coming to NYC you simply must stay here :) Thanks guys
*The Nest* in Goodyoga was our home away from home during 11 nights. It was our first time in New York and, from the first moment, we agreed that we had made the right decision in staying in Brooklyn, rather than in Manhattan. What can I say: it's in the name. Goodpoint is a fantastic place and I felt home there from the first day on. Clean room and comfortable bed, safe neighbourhood. In the shared kitchen you can meet other guests and visitors of the yoga studio and chat with them. Ray and Flannery are wonderful hosts. They welcome you like an old friend and provide you with great recommendations for restaurants, bars and cultural institutions. Thank you, guys!
This is a fantastic place to stay. Great location, layout and bed. I had a very brief stay but i enjoyed coming back to the studio. Ray & Flan are the ideal hosts and you will receive genuine hospitality. Goodpoint is run very professionally but it feels like your staying at a friends place - the perfect balance. I will never stay in a hostel again! Thanks! Mike

Great place to stay; everyone's really friendly and respectful. Greenpoint was a pleasant surprise (still strong Polish presence). Ray and Flannery were really kind and accomdated us well.
I booked this for my mom, so I had her write the review: "We spent New Year's Eve here and found it quite cozy. I had a big bed in a private room and my nephew slept on a futon - we slept very well. It has natural light plus the bathtub room was spacious. The hosts are great - very accommodating - meeting us to check in and out on our mutual time schedule. Quiet street, friendly hosts - we would recommend it!!"

I booked accomadation very late Ray was exceptionally heplfully and on arrival very welcoming. Both Ray and Flannery are great hosts: warm, welcoming and helpful every step of the way. The Mezzaine is a great and unusual place to stay. I have no hesitation in recommending both the accomadation and the hosts to everyone who wants a great place to stay. Abi UK
We had a blast! Even though my wife and I were out-n-about every day, we always looked forward to getting "home" each night. We have nothing but good things to say about our stay at The Nest. BTW, your bed was so much more comfortable than ours at home that we're thinking of getting a new one ;-) We WILL be back! Thank You!!!!
Goodpoint or The Speakeasy was a dream. Everything was as described and a great distance to Manatthan and Downtown Brooklyn. THUMBS UP for this location. Will definitely book this again! Thanks Jens
Thanks Flannery and Elizabeth for making our stay in the Speakeasy a pleasant and comfortable one. The apartment has a very cool vibe and is really handy if you want to stay in Williamsburg / close to Manhattan. The train does run very close by but the noise was not a problem - once you have the AC on you really don't hear much. It felt very homely and was so much better for us than a hotel. Lucy
Goodpoint was the perfect place to stay. It made my trip to NYC very special. Flannery and Ray were away whilst I was there, but Elizabeth was an amazing host. I highly recommend borrowing a bike to explore the city. And check out the view from the rooftop. magical!
Cute, huge apartment-great location and great hosts!
Great hosts. accomodating. left you be. perfect location- quite, secluded, but close enough to North Brooklyn, and the train. A large room off the main part of the loft feels like you have your own place. Great value- I would definately use again.
