I like to cook, read, travel, and do yoga (when I'm not full, in the middle of a book, or jetlagged). I'm originally from Fairbanks, Alaska, where my parents had a bed and breakfast for most of my childhood-- so I can appreciate what it means to have a random traveler in your home.
I'm currently finishing up my PhD in computational neuroscience in Seattle. In brief, I'm interested in how single neurons develop information processing capabilities as the brain matures. In practice, this means that I spend most of my time scowling at my computer or in the lab scowling at a different computer, while drinking too much coffee.
I'm not much of a group person (though I do like to go out dancing on occasion), but I love to talk with people individually--I think my acquaintances would say I am shy and quiet, but my friends would say I am energetic and prone to ranting about all sorts of topics.
I also love animals and have three cats.
In terms of a being a guest, I am very respectful of the space, time, and energy of other people. I am also tidy. I do keep rather late/odd hours (and I have been known to explore strange cities by night), but I am very quiet overall.
Thanks for reading my profile!
