Designer/Sales
We are an easy-going family of three, since our older son is away at college. Scott is a salesman in the automotive industry and I am a museum and residential interior designer. Our younger son is a student and horseman. We spend a lot of time taking care of our land and also enjoy hiking, skiing and all the cultural activities in this area. We are happy to help get you acquainted with all that northern New Mexico has to offer, even some activities which are not readily accessible to most tourists.
The Bennett's provided an incredibly welcoming home. They are astute and passionate people and have a gorgeous setting they reside in. Their adobe is quite charming indeed. Very helpful and generous at giving their time to answer questions and give suggestions. Much appreciated!
January 2012This is such a good location for the area where one can visit both Taos and Santa Fe and everything in between. country living at it's best. These are very cool people and I highly recommend them. Oh, and their son, Shafer - about the coolest kid I've ever met.
Since our group's stay at Julie and Scott's beautiful home, we've decided that we want to build a commune and live together all the time. This will be tricky, since four of us live in Texas and three in New York City, but if we can figure out how to create as hospitable and welcoming a place as this, we'll do it. We were in Santa Fe for a dear friend's wedding and decided to stay at this farmhouse for budgetary reasons, and so we could all spend time together. Our party comprised two... More »
This rental worked out perfectly for me and my family - we had a pretty large group and the place accommodated us comfortably. Julie was a very gracious host, getting us checked in and showing us around. We really enjoyed the property and highly recommend it. It worked out especially well for us because we had first time little skiers and we wanted to avoid the crowds at the santa fe ski basin, so we went up to the Sipapu Resort, which was perfect. The drive from the adobe farmhouse to... More »
Great People in a great location! I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Santa Fe/Taos area (and they have good coffee) Chuck
Our stay at the Bennett House was great. This was our first girl's vacation for my daughter and I, so I didn't want to book boring hotels along the way. Being able to stay with Julie, Scott, Schaefer and Bella (the cat) was wonderful. The house is very warm and inviting. Our room upstairs was comfortable and cozy. The Bennett's are a lovely family to stay with, and make you feel at home. We ran around the area so much, we didn't spend much time visiting, but when we did, it was really... More »
Julie and Scott and their son are lovely people ..... so my comments are directed toward the accomodations and the web description .... ... ... web description of the downstairs bedroom (with loft) and the bath should be clarified. The room is small, cluttered, barely lit .... an additional bed (mattress) would cover any walking space. I think the upper bedroom is probably a better choice, ... altho the bath is shared and down the stairs. The shared bath is shared with all family... More »
Julie and Scott have a truly beautiful and peaceful home! We appreciated all the little touches like fresh cut flowers, a fridge in the room, snacks, and breakfast foods. Thank you so much for opening your home to us!
Great family...great house...great location. Would recommend it to anyone. Julie even loaned me a coffee pot....which I will return well before Friday. Thanks!!
This is the country home I dreamed of, except with the special New Mexico pink sand plaster exterior that the region is so famous for. Julie is a wonderful and beautiful host, and Scott is an incredible craftsman (made the fishing pole an art piece). Julie made sure to show us all the good places to visit, trails nearby, hot spring, Taos, Santa Fe galleries, restaurants, and so on. It was an easy 30 min drive from Santa Fe Aiport. WIFI worked really well in the house. Bed is extremly... More »
Lovely home, lovely family. Very welcoming, and comfortable atmosphere, plenty of local art and family photos. Shared some nice meals and conversations with our hosts. Several good places in and around the home to just sit and chill, tho we were on the move for most of our stay. 5 minutes from highway 84/285 to go north or south, and close to "High Road" to Taos. Prior guests have already pointed out the issue regarding the stairs to the 2nd floor bedroom, and the Bennetts are aware of this.... More »
Excellent location. The hosts are very familiar with New Mexico and they take the time to point out great local spots to visit. I was torn between spending my time visiting the nearby attractions and laying around the house and farm. The contemporary adobe house is one of the most unique places I've ever stayed.
Julie was everything you could ask for in a host. She was friendly, talkative and dispensed some excellent advice. Moreover, her house is absolutely beautiful, the room is clean, spacious and private, and she is more than helpful with good recommendations about things to do in Santa Fe. Next time I'm in Santa Fe, there's nowhere else I'd rather stay.
We had an amazing stay in this wonderful Charming Country Adobe home. We found Julie to be well organized, responsive and extremely accommodating during our stay with her. Julie was quite attentive to all of our needs, both expressed and unexpressed. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when visiting the area as Julie and Scott were such wonderful hosts. Her knowledge of the area made a difference in regards to our experiencing the Sante Fe area, and she made us feel at home at all times... More »
Julie was wonderful, she made me feel right at home, supplied a great serve yourself breakfast, and was extremely accomodating. She also directed me to Ojo Caliente, some amazing hot springs 30 miles away that were simply outstanding and not to be missed!
Julie and Scott would have to be my best hostess experience ever, they have a beautiful home but what makes the difference is the host, they just know how to make you feel comfortable and I would go back anytime. If your travelling to Santa Fe this is the place to stay as they are only a 20 min drive to the heart of Santa Fe. This country ranch experience will be unforgettable...
Julie and Scott are the most amazing individuals! They are the best hosts by far. For the 2 nights we stayed there, they had breakfast available for us, and they were so friendly and hospitable. It is rare to find such genuine, caring and truly sincere hosts like this family. I would recommend anyone stay with them, they won't regret it!
The Bennetts have a welcoming, comfortable, eclectic home in a great location for seeing greater Santa Fe. Julie's enthusiasm and knowledge about the area are a huge bonus! She was able to set us on the right path to really fun adventures in Taos, Oho Caliente and Abiquiu. Homemade preserves for breakfast and water in the room for our desert parched bodies are examples of the extra efforts taken to ensure comfort and enjoyment.
Julie was so kind and helpful in getting me oriented with my surroundings. As someone who is considering a future move to New Mexico, Julie's sensitivity, support and wisdom about the area was more than I could have possibly asked for! I am so grateful. And the house is warm and welcoming just as it appears in the pictures! From the point of booking the trip until the very end of the trip, I was given all the information, directions and tips I needed for a restful stay. it was wonderful!
I had a wonderful time at the Bennett's . Down to earth ,thoughtful friendly people. Plenty of space. The house has a great living room with a beautiful fireplace complete with comfortable couches and a plush chair to read, surf the web ( fast connection) or watch movies. Cell service both AT&T and Sprint sucks out there so (website hidden), ichat or Magic-jack are the way to go. Direction to the place were clear and that made it very easy to find ( without a GPS). Great rejuvenating hikes were in... More »
Staying with Julie and Scott was a delightful experience; warm, cozy, homely, friendly, most helpful and accommodating. They have the ability to make you feel like old friends visiting. We touched on so many subjects I would have liked to talk about more, but the time was too short. This is so much more than just a place to stay.
We had a wonderful stay at the Bennett's home. My daughter and I enjoyed the peaceful setting, conducive to reading and relaxation. Thank you:)
What a great stay! I had the upstairs room (stairs nowhere near as scary as others have suggested)& it was charming & offered total comfort & privacy. In fact the whole house and location was perfect with easy access to Santa Fe, Taos and walking locally. But, undoubtedly, the visit was enhanced by the kindness & generosity of Julie & Scott who went out of their way to make me comfortable and ensure I made the best of my trip - without getting lost. I spent my last night playing scrabble... More »
As usual Julie an family were very gracious hosts. I'm in the middle of moving to New Mexico and it was a pleasure to see them again. I highly recommend to anyone.
We loved our stay with the Bennett family and they made us feel very welcome and at home. We had the upstairs bedroom and it was great waking up and seeing all the country outside and all the sounds that go along with the country. I felt like Julie could be a very close friend with all of her interest in cooking, running and yoga. I got the chance to help with a food project and loved learning something new. It was a great place to hike, breath the fresh air of the county side. We will plan... More »
Fantastic, wonderful, relaxing, and just plain nice! The Bennett household is warm, relaxed, and in a great location if you want to explore the area around Santa Fe. A friend and I stayed with them for a week. Julie and Scott are fantastic hosts--extremely friendly, informative about the area, and really laid-back folks. They have lived in the Santa Fe area a long time and seem to know everyone! They give great advice about things to do around town. Julie gives much more than she must of her... More »
First, the Bennett's place, hospitality, and warmth are what bed & breakfasts are supposed to be about. If you are used to traveling in Europe and staying at family hotels and houses, you won't be disappointed. I could extol the friendliness, generosity and caring you'll receive, but visit yourself - it's so much better to experience. Accommodations are fabulous. This is a real adobe, folks...one of those genius pieces of architecture that is so well-suited for New Mexico. If you are... More »
Julie and Scott welcomed me into their home, and did everything to make my stay wonderful. Their house is charming, well-kept, and well-appointed, in a delightful bucolic location, yet only a short drive from Santa Fe. Very comfortable bed, spacious room, tasty breakfast makings. Best of all are Julie her family, who treated me like family in the best way possible. They know New Mexico well, and can give excellent advice on your touring. Highly, highly recommended!
Scott and Julie are awesome people. My fiancee and I stayed there one night and they had our room set up like a hotel... It has a very mediterannean feel to it. Nice and relaxing. We went out at night and did our own thing, but when we returned we sat out on their porch and just talked with them and had a great time. They are really fun and open. They also have some great young neighbors that we were able to meet and hang out with. In the morning after we woke up, Julie had fruit and bagels... More »
Wonderful hosts. Julie was especially accomodating and very motherly. She let me borrow a raincoat, a hat, water bottle, and even gave me a hiking book with notes she had written inside of places to explore. I stayed in an upstairs room which was very comfortable and private and had a great view of their vast and gorgeous property. I slept like a baby. In Danish there is word called "hygge" which translates to a sense of coziness, and I would definitely use it to describe my stay here. ... More »
Julie and Scott were extremely gracious, even when I ran late and got lost. (My fault) The room is comfortable and enjoyable. So much better than an impersonal motel. Easy access to Taos and Santa Fe plus surrounding areas. I highly recommend them to anyone staying in the area. Sandy Dallas
The entire experience was a good surprise. Directions were clear and accurate, the house suited all of our needs and the location between Santa Fe and Taos allowed us to stay in a quiet area in the middle of the region we wanted to explore for a reasonable price. Julie went many extra miles in order to help and pamper us. She provided guidebooks and directions to places of interest, found an eye doctor when one of us needed one and even mailed back a treasured jacket we had... More »
We stayed one night en route to Santa Fe from an afternoon spent at Ojo Cliente. The accommodations were comfy, despite the barking dogs down below in the backyard... my husband was a bit wary of the steep stairway (without railings) that led up to the loft bedroom -- if you need to make a few trips to the loo during the night that can be a bit daunting... but otherwise, it was a good spot to stay.
I felt welcome from the first phone call and found my hosts had prepared my room with many thoughtful touches. The guest space is very comfortable--I slept like a rock--with nice lighting and a small couch for sitting. Temperatures were comfortable too, with the windows closed during the day, the heat of July did not penetrate much, and there were two quiet fans supplied. At night, I let the cool breezes in. Be sure to let Julie or Scott know if you have any trouble with stairs, as there... More »
Julie and Scott are brilliant hosts. The house is spacious and the room where I slept was private and a wonderful place to return to at the end of the day. I got the sense that Julie was perfectly willing to offer as much or as little assistance as asked. It was refreshing to have someone to talk to who is so familiar with the area. When I remember my time in NM I will certainly think of this fantastic house and my very good natured hosts, Julie & Scott. I'd go back in a minute.
A loving family in a lovely environment. Julie, her husband, Scott and their son Shaefer we simply a delight to stay with. The ranch they live on is beautiful and the location central to many sights New Mexico has to offer. If you are in this area you should make a point of coming here to this enchanting family and land.
We had a wonderful time staying with julie and company. They were all so welcoming. From the water and home made trail mix left in our room for us to the beautiful locale-a real treat! Julie even took me to a wonderful yoga and helped plan the next leg of our journey! A real bargain and a memorable experience!
Wow. What an amazing visit. Julie and her family are beyond hospitable and their home is beautiful. They are helpful with local directions and things to do and live near some great hiking. I cannot say enough good things about them. You'll be lucky to stay at this haven in Espanola! Just go!
I can't say enough about how warm and inviting Julie and her family were. Easy-going hospitality like that is hard to come by, and a joy to find. Their house is cozy, clean, and close to Chimayo, Bandelier, Santa Fe and other NM attractions. I had a wonderful stay!
Julie and Scott were very kind to me for my one-night stay. Due to the highway being shut down, I was delayed by several hours and did not get to their house until after 1 am. They were okay with that and very accommodating. We actually never met because the family was out of the house by 9 am and I slept in that morning. I really appreciated their trust and enjoyed the warmth and creativity of their home.
delightful people, fun and stimulating conversation and amazing friend / life connections.
March 2011Julie was a demanding guest. From the extensive questions before they arrived to morning and night requests for the first three days of their stay, it was a lot of work to satisfy. The requests were always pleasantly delivered and not particularly extreme, just copious and more appropriate for a professionally run hotel. Otherwise I have no complaints, my apartment was left in good condition and from our email correspondence I can put together a pretty complete visitor's guide for future guests.
My friend and I stayed with the Bennetts for a week recently, and we couldn't have asked for a more welcoming situation. We felt comfortable in their home from the moment we arrived, and I'd recommend them as hosts in a heartbeat. They live on a quiet property about 20 minutes north of Santa Fe, which was perfect for us since we planned to explore the area, and it offered us a central starting point. It was also really great to come back to such a peaceful place after a busy day of... More »
October 2010I've known Julie for 26 years and have spent much time at her home. It is very comfortable and homey and she and her family are some of the finest people you'll ever meet. The house is clean, warm and friendly. Very beautiful setting.
Julie is amongst the most generated and genuine people in my world. As a stranger, she had me feel welcome and wanted; as a friend, she has me know that I am valued and honored. Julie is an intelligent, warm, interesting, thoughtful, wise, and inspiring woman; she laughs and shares herself with a comfortable ease and is a powerful contribution to any situation in which I have ever experienced her.
