“…Sergio was very accommodating and helpful setting up new dates for us and Darlenys was a wonderful guide patiently tailoring the trip, answering all our questions from history to culture, economy, to fauna and flora and sharing her story. We had several stops each time enjoying a natural reserve or garden. Our highlight was the garden with the hummingbirds where we could peacefully observe and enjoy these beautiful and peculiar creatures. We shared a decent meal and tried Ropa Vieja and a local soup that you would not find in a ‘touristic’ restaurant. The fresh water pond was clear that we could watch the different species of fish without having to dive in the water and disturb their habitat, the surrounding of the pond was beautiful and peaceful. Our hosts were kind to offer suggestions to the neighboring town Matanzas, city of art, that we also quite enjoyed the following day. This was a much needed break from Varadero buzz and a much recommended experience to nature lovers!…
