William T. Leitch Room
Named in honor of the builder of this glorious mansion, the William T. Leitch room stands in the center of the home upon ascending the grand central staircase. The room features rich burgundy tones, beautiful antique furniture, and a large picture window overlooking the front garden. Guests will enjoy a queen-size bed, gas fireplace, and private bath with shower.
The House
Built in 1854, The Livingston Inn is an important landmark in the history of Madison. On the National Register of Historic Places as the William T. Leitch House, the home is constructed of local buff-colored sandstone which was quarried in nearby Westport, barged across Lake Mendota, and cut on the building site. In addition to being a prominent landmark in the City of Madison, The Livingston Inn is an important piece of local history. Two of Madison’s first mayors (William T. Leitch, 1862-65 and Moses R. Doyon, 1888-90) lived in the house between the years 1857-1881 and 1881-1902, respectively. In addition, a prominent member of the Progressive movement and a close friend of “Fighting Bob” LaFollette lived in the home in the early twentieth century.
The Livingston Inn is a breathtaking home featuring nine fireplaces, eleven-foot first floor ceilings, lake access, and stunning architectural details inside and out. The house features spacious, beautifully appointed guest rooms on the second floor with private baths, working fireplaces, and daily maid service.

The City
Set between lakes Mendota and Monona, Madison is one of only two major American cities built on an isthmus. The Livingston Inn has access to the largest lake, Lake Mendota, where guests may spend a day, or an evening, on the water. An adjacent park offers a bike trail and walking path along the lakeshore, and patrons may wish to continue along the shore, through the downtown area, or to the UW-Madison campus and the iconic Memorial Union – for the Dairy State’s very own Babcock Ice Cream.
For dining and nightlife, The Livingston Inn is conveniently situated. From brew pubs, comedy clubs, one of a kind shops, and a fabulous array of dining options on Madison’s beloved State Street, to the hip dining spots on the wonderfully eclectic Willy Street, guests will find a variety of options for day and night.

Owners Peggy and Dave Furlan will warmly welcome you to their family and home. Peggy and Dave have extensive experience in professional hospitality, having worked in the hotel and travel industries in the upscale tourist town of Breckenridge, Colorado, where they met, married, and opened a restaurant which was awarded Best of Summit County. Peggy has extensive knowledge of wine and food, including locally produced organics, and Dave began working in his family’s restaurants in Denver at the age of eleven. Residents of Madison for over a decade, Peggy and Dave are familiar with the people and places of this wonderful, accessible city and will happily offer suggestions for dining, entertainment, or leisure activities.
