  • Joshua is a great host and the apartment is comfortable and near the subway. It was clean as Joshua was cleaning when we arrived. The area has cool restaurants. The only bad thing would be that it is loud at night but nothing too bad.

  • This a stylish and artsy apartment right in the center of a local shopping and dining paradise. Very clean, great atmosphere. Only three blocks from the Q subway train to Manhattan. The owner, Josh, is a very friendly guy who'll do everything he can to make you feel welcome and comfortable. If you have some free time - do make use of the fun and eclectic book collection in the apartment. Things not to miss: The weekend brunch a the Farm on Adderley (two houses down) is awesome. And so is the pizza at Di Fara (Ave J station on the Q train). In Josh's building is a bar with a cute little beer garden in the back yard. Great for balmy summer evenings. The beer garden closes at 11 pm on weekdays, Friday and Saturday nights might be a bit noisy until 1 am or so, if the weather is nice. Just close the windows or join the fun.

  • We stay two weeks in this apt as a family with three people and had a great time there. The area is quite nice with some nice restaurants, cafe bars and supermarkets. The subway to Manhatten is three minutes away from the apt and in a 25 minutes ride you are in downtown or at the beach. Thx for the great time at NYC

  • We stayed for 5 days in this apartment ans we were delighted. It is very spacious, clean, well decorated and well lit. Like another comment says, you quickly feel at home. The only drawback was the "ocsillating" temperature of the shower mentioned below, but it's not a big deal when the weather is warm as it was. The neighbourhood is really cool (and safe), and the Q line station, only a few minutes away, is practical (frequent trains to Manhattan, good connections). We especially loved Prospect Park, it's large, beautiful and pretty close to the apartment. Josh and Drew are very nice, ready to answer any question about the apartment, the neighbourhood or more generally about things to see and do in NYC. We definitely will try to return to their place next time we plan a trip to New York.

  • I stayed at Joshua's apartment with my family - 3 adults and 2 kids - and we really enjoyed our stay. The apartment is really cool and cozy just like it looks on the pictures. If you like good brunches, there are plenty of opportunities on the street and we had an amazing diner at The Farm located right next door. There is also a good grocery store if you feel like cooking at home. Joshua was really helpful and brought everything we needed when we found that it was missing like extra forks, knives, sauce pan, etc. The apartment is located 2-3 blocks away from the Q station. It takes you to Manhattan in 30 mn. It runs quite often, less on week-ends and late at night though and we sometimes had to wait 10-15 mn for the next train but it was never a real problem. Also you have to be aware that there is a bar right under the apartment and it can be loud on Fridays and Saturdays nights. Personally I slept like a baby. In general, I will definitely recommend this place.

  • The bar behind the flower shop downstairs was not mentioned and that was a bit of a oversight as it was quite noisy at night until 3 am. Also the shower proved to be quite a challenge, trying to regulate the temperature. Lots of conveniences close by including the subway, coffee shops & restos. Any questions to the host are handled efficiently! Narrow staircase to the 3rd floor, so if you're a senior or overweight, better off to find somewhere else. Geraldine - Dorval, Qc

  • We were staying at Josh and Drew's apartment in Brooklyn for four days when we visited NYC. The apartment was very nice. It was a good size (3 people) and was very well decorated. The location was conveniently located near the Q train which runs directly towards Manhattan. *** We did have one issue that future renters should be aware of. The top lock is broken on their front door and when locked from the inside it is very difficult to get open. Please get the directions from Josh and Drew on how to open the lock before you get there. We ended up in a hotel that night because we were locked out. Josh did compensate a portion of the hotel cost due to the broken lock. Otherwise a great place for a great price. View host response

    Response from host:

I was shocked to find out Daniel got locked out one night. I wasn't aware of this until a day after he checked out. Daniel never called me during the incident so I never got an opportunity to help him back into the apartment. He (or someone in his party) should have called me and I would have easily walked them through the tricky handling of a lock that should never have been locked. Because of this unfortunate situation I voluntarily offered Daniel partial compensation of the hotel room. This has never happened to us before and I hope it never does again. Daniel was very kind in dealing with me through everything and I appreciate this.

  • This was my first airbnb stay and it was absolutely great. Josh was really helpful and friendly, he arranged for keys to be picked up from the flower shop/bar underneath the apartment with no problem at all. The apartment is really nice, it's only two blocks away from the subway so really easy to get to Manhattan, it was quite a bit slower on the way home though with delayed trains running later at night. I really enjoyed staying in Brooklyn because it gives you the opportunity to experience an area you might not get chance to see if you stayed in Manhattan. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Josh's apartment and if you stay, make sure you pop in for a drink in the downstairs bar too :-)

  • Very cute apartment, full of fun lamps, nicknacks, paintings, etc. It was about a block and a half to the train, which made getting around pretty easy. Josh was very accommodating to our request for an early check in. Our plane arrived at 5:30 a.m., and we were able to get into the apartment by 8:00 a.m., when the little store downstairs opened, where we picked up the keys. HUGE help. The only downside was that the free wifi in the apartment is actually the bar downstairs' internet, and it barely worked. Bummer for me because I had to work on this trip, but probably isn't an issue for too many people. :) Also, there weren't any pots or pans, except for two cast iron skillets (which we couldn't use because they were treated with vegetable oil and the person staying with me is allergic to vegetable oil), so she had to go buy a small skillet and pot at the drugstore. Otherwise, the apartment was really nice, the restaurants in the area were great, and we had a really nice time! Thanks Josh and Drew!

  • We had 22 fantastic days in NYC which would not have been possible without staying at Josh and Drew's apartment -a hotel was out of the question It also meant that my partner's son could join us and we got to share time together The apartment has lots of room and is warm and comfortable (loved the central heating) My partner was sick for a few days so it was great to be able to buy groceries and cook a couple of nights Its a great neighborhood and very easy to get to Manhattan Love the Q train We also ate out locally a couple of times - it made a difference to have nice cafes and restaurants (and laundry + shops )handy And we felt very safe Josh is an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed All in all staying here gave us the base for an amazing holiday
