Description

The space

We offer a bedroom with its own private bathroom in a two bedroom and two and half bathroom condominium located in Avon, Colorado. The condo itself is not large (1200 square feet) but cute, clean and comfortable with a spiral staircase, huge windows and a fluffy cat, Roger.

What makes our condo so special is it's location, nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, which caters perfectly to both summer and winter activities. The neighborhood is located between Vail and Beaver Creek ski resort and the condo is a 5 minute walk to the nearest bus stop going either direction. Potentially you can ski out of bounds from Beaver Creek down to our house. We are a 5 minute drive from the base of Beaver Creek and the town of Avon, both of which offer ample shopping and restaurant options. We are a 10 minute drive from Vail and everything the ski town has to offer including shopping, movies, ice skating, bowling and numerous restaurants.

For summer-time enthusiasts, our condo sits across the street from the Eagle-Vail Golf club driving ranch and golf course and next to the Eagle-Vail outdoor community swimming pool which, while only open May through August, offers a 25 meter saline lap pool and children's paddle pool. We are also a 15 minute walk to the Eagle River for fly fishing, rafting and kayaking. What makes our place unique is its community which is dedicated to outdoor activities.

Both Beaver Creek and Vail offer plenty of sporting activities as well as various festivals year round including food, dance and music. Hiking, biking, rock climbing and horseback riding are all minutes away from us. My boyfriend, Mike, is a fly fishing guide and I am a photojournalist so both of us have extensive knowledge of our valley and what it has to offer.

There is also a futon downstairs in the living room than can accommodate up to 2 extra guests. Keep in mind this space is not private (it's in the living room).

Interaction with guests

Mike and I are both very social people and love meeting new people from different walks of life. Airbnb is a great way for us to do this from home. we love interacting with our guests, listening to their stories and sharing ours.

Getting around

The bus is about a 10 minute walk from our house and regularly goes both east to Vail (about 10-15 minute ride) and west to Avon town (5-10 minute ride) and Edwards (15-20minute ride). It is $4 each way or $8 for the day.
From The town of Avon you can also take a bus straight to Eagle airport.
An uber ride is about $10-$15 from our house.

If you're looking for the perfect ski destination, this is a little lacking in size, charm, and ambiance. Be sure to note it's location isn't Vail, but Avon.

Response from Dominique:
Our house is listed as a private bedroom and bathroom in a shared living space in Avon, not Vail. The house is also 1200 square feet not 700 as you stated. We have opened our home to more than 100 guests in the last three years we have been hosts and you would be the very first person to complain about the size, charm and ambience of our house. I'm sorry the experience did not meet your expectations as we felt like we also welcomed you into our home, offering you dinner and anything else you might need that we could provide, which you declined. That being said, we will as always work to improve the experience for future guests but also let the many other positive reviews speak to the experience we offer here and acknowledge that sometimes a personality difference is inevitable in these kinds of situations.

Dominique and Mike were the absolute best hosts I could ask for! If you don't stay with them, you're missing out! They are both super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the area. They also just remodeled their home and it looks GORGEOUS! For your sake, book with them!

Staying with Dominique and Mike was a huge pleasure. The room and bathroom were very clean, they were both extremely nice and the location is perfect if you're looking for somewhere close to the mountains. Would book again with them 100%.

Dominique and Mike made me feel right at home in every way- even breaking off a bit of aloe from her plant for my sunburn! Both the room as well as shared spaces were very clean, warm, and homey. The location was great- public transit is just a short walk away, and it's a $12 uber ride to Beaver Creek. I would highly recommend staying with Dominique, and would be happy to stay again myself.

I am a freelance photographer and bartender. I also shoot video and am a travel writer. I am from New Zealand but fell in love with snowboarding so made my home here in Vail. I love to travel. Whether it is to snowboard in Kashmir or eat in Belgium, I am always looking for a good adventure that involves traveling to new places to meet new people.
