Luxury studio in Kirazli Village

Karyn and Nick were friendly and very helpful, and their place was great. Really clean, beautiful, and comfortable. Karyn also made us vegan dinners, which were fantastic - best we've had in Turkey. Just what we needed after some dodgy hotels the week before :)

We stayed with Karyn for only one night, and wish we would have stayed longer. Kirazli is a tiny village super close to Efes but feels much more remote than that. Except for Karyn, nobody speaks a lick of English but folks are super friendly and helpful in any way they can. We got lost on the way to finding Karyn's house and a villager offered us his phone so we can call her. There are two cute little restaurants in town, we only got a chance to eat at one of them and it was super tasty (even though we paid "tourist" prices, it was still much cheaper than what we would have paid in the US for the same meal). Karyn's house is a jewel, an old stone house re-invigorated by updates but still fits into the village look and feel. It was a bit hard to use because numbers on houses there are somewhat arbitrary, but once we found it, it was quite central to walking around the village (it's near the mosque). We were very comfortable there, couldn't have asked for better amenities, and Karyn shared stories of village life :) Would definitely stay there again!

My friend Annie and I really enjoyed the two days we spent with Karyn and Nick. They were friendly, funny and generous hosts. Even though we failed to mention that Annie is vegan until the night before, Karyn still went out of her way to prepare beautiful, excellent breakfasts for us. She also gave us great, subjective advice on what to see in the area. The studio was comfortable and clean. We loved Kirazli and were sad to leave! I would highly recommend staying here and can't wait to come back.

Karyn and Nick are great hosts and full of information! The studio is big and beautiful and the village itself is very charming. And Karyn's breakfasts were delicious.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights in October. Overall we had a great time and became friends with our hosts, Karyn and Nick. They were easily the greatest asset that came with renting their studio. They were extremely knowledgeable about the village and Turkish culture in general and we spent a lot of time just chatting with them by the pool about a myriad of topics. Karyn's cooking was exceptional and we enjoyed more than a few meals which she prepares from scratch using local produce. Highly recommended. They both offered great recommendations on how to get around and what to see and otherwise went out of there way to make sure we were comfortable and all our questions were answered. Karyn even did my laundry which was huge after my luggage got soaked on a ferry from Greece. The village itself is very rural, which even after reading other reviews and the apartment description was a bit of a surprise. We agreed that it was mostly a pleasant surprise, but prospective renters should be aware that the surrounding area only has a few restaurants offering basic food, a market or 2 and not much else. You'll be traveling in and out of the village if you want to do any sightseeing etc. We rented a car for 2 days and used the dolmus (mini bus) the other days. It was fairly convenient, although we did get stranded in Kusadasi once after we missed the last dolmus back to the village. It didn't end up being a big deal as a taxi back was around 35TL (about $15). Karyn and Nick's car was also not working during our stay, so normally getting stranded would be less of an issue I'd imagine. The village's remoteness did have an upside of not having ANY tourists which was a breath of fresh air. It was surreal to walk amongst the villagers and see all the different fruit trees and other fascinating aspects of village life. Everybody was also very nice to us, despite their lack of English. The studio itself was very roomy and modern. For some reason the wifi didn't work well on my laptop even though the signal was strong. They said no one else ever reported any problems, so maybe it was an issue with my laptop. The call to prayer tower is VERY close to the apartment which can be a bit jarring when the morning prayer starts 5:30/6am. However if you're traveling in Turkey, the call to prayer is everywhere. Overall a memorable experience and great for someone looking for an alternative to the tourist trap of neighboring Kusadasi.

We stayed in karyn's place for 4 days and her studio was so clean and comfy. If you want to have a Turkish life experience you should surely stay here.  Karyn's cooking was fantastic she always suprised our taste buds for every meal. she will also make it a point that she research about the guest's nationality food. Nick and Karyn are good hosts. We will definitely recommend it to all airbnb user to have your stay here if they go to Ephesus.But if your the type who is not use to peace and quiet I would suggest that you stay at kusadasi city center. It will take time for you to wait for a bus going to the city center and sometimes at night the buses doesn't pass anymore at kirazli village and end up wondering how you can get home, we experienced that in our stay good thing I have a Turkish sim card and I was able to call Karyn for assistance to go home.

Karyn P lives in a beautiful Turkish village set high in the hills above Kusadasi and close to the spectacular ruins of Ephesus. Karyn's stunning traditional stone-built house is a superb place from where to explore the incredible surroundings of ancient Ionia. Karyn is a wonderful and knowledgeable hostess and amazing cook. When you return from a day of exploring, slip into the warm pool, sip a glass of Turkish wine and talk the night away.
