Burnham Beach Hse Retreat

Another stellar stay!

A great place to stay near the beach. Mike was a fine host and their home was very comfortable. Highly recommended!

Mike and Wendy were great hosts. When I arrived they were dealing with a family emergency, but they took the time to make sure I was sorted and had enough information about the location, food/drink, etc in the area. The bike was great for riding along the oceanside bike path. They were very hospitable people and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Mike even dropped me at a bus shelter during a rainstorm so I wouldn't go to the airport wet! Be advised: the Redondo Beach stop on the Green Line is nowhere near Redondo Beach. There is a bus that comes by once an hour, but the schedule is mysterious. Better to arrive from Long Beach or the airport on the #232. The area is easy to get around for people without private transportation.

I was lucky to have a repeat visit with Wendy & Michael within a short period of time. It literally was like coming home. I feel peace, love & harmony in their place. Looking forward to next time! Thank you!

This is an amazing place to stay! It's a very nice house, a beautiful neighborhood & I felt super comfi from the beginning... It's like beeing at a friends place. Wendy gave me her bike so I rode along the beaches and it is just an awesome place to be. Sunshine & the LA-feeling are guaranteed. Wendy & Mike are great hosts, very helpful and just cool ;) Thanks so much again for all your help, recommendations & the awesome café latte ;-)

In addition to a quintessential L.A. location -- Redondo Beach -- in a brilliant Craftsman home . . . Wendy & Michael are transcendent hosts. Immediately put at ease when I walked through the front door, I felt what can only be described as the "embrace of family." Wendy & Michael are savvy, intuitive, funny -- with big big hearts. Thank you! I will most certainly return when my travels bring me again to Los Angeles.

Staying with Wendy and Mike was great. They're nice and informative, the place is great and the location rocks.

Our hosts were wonderful. Mike and Wendy are great down to earth freindly people. We had a nice but short stay. The area is fun and the house was comfortable with a warm inviting aura.

I had such a fantastic time staying with Mike and Wendy, it was like I was visiting family. I had excellent guidance and advice to get around without a car. The place was clean, quiet and very homely. Mike and Wendy's warm and friendly company was much appreciated after my time at work or days out. It was an absolute pleasure to stay with them!

I had such a wonderful stay with Mike and Wendy. They were very clear in their instructions, very generous with their time and space, offered great suggestions for places to eat, things to see and do, let me borrow their bike for an epic ride along the coast. The place is at a lovely spot not far away from the beach and The Pier - so it is a cleaner, quieter area of LA but with good access to many things. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer.

Thanks Wendy and Mike for giving us the opportunity to stay in your cozy beach cottage, we loved every minute. The thought you have put into the decor really enhances the beachside ambience. The area is fantastic with the beach, pier, and eclectic street shopping area close by, as well as the 21 mile bike path to Santa Monica - a must to cycle when in LA (it really is not too far, if you allow a whole day with lots of stops, it gives you a real feel for the area.) The whole Airb'n'b experience at the Burnham Beach Cottage was first class, from the moment we were met by the friendly Charlotte until we were farwelled by Wendy and Mike at the end of our stay we felt truly welcomed. The Burnham beach cottage was perfect for being instantly transported to a vacation state of mind! Really peaceful grounds in a prime location---inspired me to bike the Strand :) Thank you, Mike, for being such a wonderful host--communicative, easy-going, and eager to make the stay a great experience. Wish I could have stayed longer and hope to visit again in the future!

My husband and I stayed at the Burnham Beach Cottage cottage for 3 nights during our visit to Los Angeles. Let me start by saying that this place was wonderful! The cottage is situated in a quiet residential area that is a short distance to the beach and stores. It is a one bedroom, one bathroom cottage with a small but full kitchen. The living room has a fold out futon which allows for extra guests or kids to sleep on and the bathroom has a huge old-fashion claw-foot tub and tons of bubble bath soaps and accoutrements. The nights in LA get pretty chilly but there were plenty of extra blankets and though we didn't use it, there was a fire-pit outside of the cottage. The owners were extremely nice and helpful. As other reviewers have noted, the small decorative touches really make the cottage stand out. We highly recommend this place if you plan on staying in LA.

I had the most wonderful, restful stay, and it was so much better than a hotel. What an adorable perfectly decorated little beach cottage just minutes from the ocean ~ Thank you again! Your hospitality, use of your lovely bike and amenities you provided was wonderful.

The Burnham Beach Cottages are charming, cozy and spacious. Mike and Wendy were the most gracious hosts and went above and beyond to make sure we had all that we needed. They had bikes for us to ride, which is a must do in Redondo Beach. This is a great location and is perfect for exploring the area. The bed was so comfortable! The kitchen was well equipped for us to make a nice dinner with our Farmer's Market findings. My only complaint is that I wish we had the chance to stay longer!

We loved staying at the Burnham Beach Cottage. The place is so sweet and is so beautifully appointed. It had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Including a beautiful and large claw-foot tub to soak in. We especially enjoyed the outdoor spaces including a fire pit and a hammock. Very close to the beach and pier and some good restaurants. Definitely recommend this place...we'll be back!

It was an absolutely pleasant stay. wendy was the best host anyone could ask for, being wonderfully kind and caring for all of us during our stay. the cottages themselves were beautiful, charming and very comfortable. the overall experience made me wish our stay in LA was for longer! will definitely come back here if i get the chance to

This place is awesome. Great hosts and such a pleasant and relaxing place. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and were greeted with a beautifully clean place, lots of fresh flowers, and a bottle of champagne and truffles. I thanked Wendy, but informed her that we don't drink------like Wonder woman she buzzed out the door and was back in with the most delicious blood orange sparkling juice! We enjoyed our long mornings, beach bike rides, and the great suggestions for dinner. This place has a million things to do close by. I had a great Thai massage just a block away. We will definitely tell our friends and be back again in the future.

We only had two nights left in California following a round trip over three weeks. The cottages are lovely, all those nice touches everywhere, with Wendy leaving fresh flowers just as we checked in. With the weather being unusually cool and windy we spent the first day with family in L.A. and had the last night and day to ourselves, which was great as we rented bikes from Mike and got to know the neighborhood. We had a great day as the sun decided to come back out again. We enjoyed Burnham cottages very much and hope to be back soon for longer :-)

Mike and Wendy are close personal friends of mine and they are honestly two of the coolest, fun loving people I know. Location is amazing...Redondo Beach is, in my opinion, the nicest places in city in Los Angeles County.

Mike & Wendy are the best hosts you could hope for. They truely care for their guests and want you to be comfortable and have a good time. They are both so much fun! the home is in the best location possible, just a block away from the beach, great for biking on the strand , surfing or a stroll. Safe lovely environment! Mike is a fabulous chef & Wendy's decorating and gardening will make you want to move in permanently. I would highly recommend this beautiful home to friends and business acquaintences
